I ordered a Coke ICEE around 1:40 PM, and by 3:30 PM I still hadn't gotten it. During the movie, we asked our server about it at least five times, and every time we were told it was "coming." I finally went out to talk to a manager, and she told me it hadn't even been made because there wasn't a server available to grab it. I was confused because it's just an ICEE. Then she asked if I still wanted it. I said yes--that's why I had to leave the movie to come find someone. She asked for my seat number so someone could bring it, but I told her I'd just wait there since I'd already been waiting almost two hours. As soon as she radioed it in, it showed up in about two minutes (I guess it really wasn't that hard to make). What really bothered me was that there wasn't even an apology from the manager--just excuse after excuse. If it really takes almost two hours to get an ICEE because no one is available to bring it out, then maybe you shouldn't be charging a mandatory 18% service fee. What exactly was the service I was paying for? We had to ask multiple times, I had to leave the movie to find a manager, and I brought the drink inside myself. What a joke. read more

SCREEN: I've enjoyed a movie in nearly every auditorium in this theater and every single screen is sort of dull and dim and some have image burn-in. SEATS: Leather recliners that are pretty worn. Do not reach into the crevices of your seat :( SOUND: There's often sound bleeding in from other theaters. I've experienced this elsewhere, so maybe it's a matter of more mindful programming? Like don't screen a loud Marvel movie at the same time as a quiet romantic comedy next door. Or maybe it really is bad design. FOOD: You can order from your seat by calling over a server, or you can order through your phone. On separate occasions I've ordered popcorn, burgers, nachos, fries, pretzels- I basically tried to work my way through the menu. It's hit-or-miss. 80% of the time the cheese has crust on it like the food has been sitting under the warming lamp for a while. Other times the food is entirely cold *shrugs*. More than once (one time too many) my order was never delivered to my seat at all. Thankfully, the staff was able to refund me after the movie in those instances where my food was forgotten. It's convenient because it's local. Admission prices are competitive with other chains like AMC and Regal. It feels like a different experience from when it was Studio Movie Grill. read more

Usually do not attend the Look Theater in Monrovia so didn't know what to expect. Went to this theater to see the limited release of the new Frankenstein movie and was looking forward to it, until we actually got there. No one up front, so we talked to the bartender and he scanned us in. Kinda weird if you ask me. The seats inside the theater were all peeling from the headrest portion, to the handsets, to even the bulk of the seats. It really didn't affect the feel of when you sat on them but it was not esthetically pleasing when you walk in an see all those seats looking like that. You have to push back on them to lean back. They are not electric like most recliner seats in other theaters. Then we sat down and scanned the QR code on the tray to order some food. The QR took us to the website, where it was difficult to set up an account, then once we set up the account saw no area to actually order food only a menu. Went outside the theater and spoke to the bartender about it since there was no one else around asking if we can order food and he took our order. On the menu there was an item for "filteres water" $1.99, which I understand its legal to do in California BUT it doesn't mean you HAVE to charge it. Didn't like seeing that. We ordered a large popcorn and large soda. $19. I feel this price is normal nowadays but the popcorn we were delivered was not warm at all. We did ask for butter and the "butter" we got seemed like it was just oil and no butter flavor. To top it off we were served this oily, cold popcorn with no napkins to wipe our hands with. Not a good customer service feel at all. If you are going to the movie and dont care to eat or drink or have any need to receive any customer service maybe this place will work for you but I have had much better experiences at many other theaters. read more

This Look Cinema is located in Old Town Monrovia. There's plenty of street parking and it's close by to Library park. It's a very convenient location, since this area also has plenty of diverse restaurants and bars. I came here to watch Karate Kid on a Tuesday. Tickets are discounted on Tuesdays. I purchased them in advance of one week online. The check-in process was simple - all I had to do was scanning QR code at the front desk. There are around 12 theater rooms inside. Their concepts is dine-in, so once I step inside before the movie starts, you're given a menu and someone takes the order. The seats inside all have their own small tables and recline. However, the faux leather is a bit cracked and chipped. Nonetheless, it was still very comfortable. The service there is surprisingly good and friendly. The venue is clean, the workers there directed me exactly where I needed to go, and I was given a very nice goodbye when I left. Overall, I had a great movie experience at Look Cinema. I've been coming to the movies at this address for over two decades, and each subsequent operator seems to get worse to the point where I wonder why I still bother to come here. The seats are absolutely worn out. For some reason the numbers on the seats don't even match the numbers on the table, which can make it confusing to find your seat. In the last renovation, they removed the water fountains and now charge $1.99 for filtered water. While technically legal, is absolutely scummy--especially on hot summer days in SoCal. I've tried some of the other food and it's just not worth it when there are so many other better options on Myrtle Ave. Staff running food constantly blocks the view of the screen. Projection quality and audio are good, otherwise 1 star. read more

So sad to say but Sunday Feb 1 was their last day for being opened! We came in to watch Send Help at 4:20 and were informed that Sunday night would be their last night and the only location that is staying open in the California region is Glendale It did feel like they were heading in this direction sadly. Each time we came it felt that the look of the place was getting more and more worn out. The service is slow - you order during the previews but your items don't come till mid-way or close to the end of the movie :( When we came out of the movie there were boxes out with movie posters you can take! Had the rare chance to grab a Toy Story 5 movie poster that wouldn't be out until June 19th! Such a cool parting gift. Sad to see this location leave especially since I have their Movie Pass but I guess Glendale is where I'll go now! Which isn't to much of a bother, I do like their Glendale location a tiny bit more because the screens don't feel as dark as it was here in Monrovia. It seems like downtown Monrovia is going through something cause across the street Sweet Ethan's was also having a closing sale! All seats in theatre 11 are cracked and gross. My credit card and Apple Pay didn't work for some reason at my seat so someone else in my party had to order for me. Frustrating experience. Took a long time to get a box for my leftovers as well. They should have a self serve box area so we can grab and go. read more

A friend hosted a private movie event for her friends and clients in one of the theatre rooms. I can't comment on price or any of that, but the theatre was nice and clean. There is a bar for people to enjoy a drink before or after your movie experience. The lights were already dim and turned off in the theatre when we came in to try to find our seats so I can't comment on the appearance of the seats, as others have commented them being worn out and old. We took our kiddo to catch a movie at Look Dine-In Cinema in Monrovia on Christmas Day in hope to make it an awesome memory. As we usually pay $8.50 for popcorn at other theaters, we wanted to try something different yet not to break the bank at this "Dine-In Cinema" experience, so ordered this $14 cheese fries (with tax and fees, final price is $18.25!) We waited until 4pm to ask the staff about our order, that's 40min after the order was placed on 3:21pm, the staff replied he will check on it in the kitchen. We waited another 20min to asked again, the staff said our order didn't get through, so we needed to wait longer. Our cheese fries finally came at 4:38pm, and this sad little portion of fries is just a bit more than a single order of In-N-Out Animal Fries @$4.75+tax. Will we order dine-in again at this place? Nah, we could've save our craving and swing by In-N-Out afterwords to get TWO complete sets of cheese burgers and fries with 30% less spending. Well, at least our kiddo enjoyed the movie. Late review: We went to Look Theatres in Monrovia to watch Fantastic Four for a soccer team bonding night (8 PM showing). In the middle of the movie, the girls started asking for water, so I ordered 8 adult waters. I was charged for 8 adult Dr Peppers instead, but I didn't notice until they were delivered. I immediately let the staff know, and the manager quickly apologized, refunded the charge, and got waters to the girls right away. The waitress also came out to personally apologize--she was very sweet. (Parents would have hated me if I'd sent their kids home at 9 PM hopped up on soda, haha!) The staff was extremely kind and helpful. Even for an evening show, the theater was clean--no sticky floors! Overall, we had a wonderful experience. read more

The music wasn't loud enough and we went to watch a musical. The seats no longer have a button to recline. You have to throw your body weight back which is inconvenient for kids and when you have scoliosis and you throw out your back. Service is extremely delayed even if you get there 30 min early. Our servers forgot our ranch 4 different times. They ran out of regular fries and didn't tell us so they gave us sweet potato fries that the kids hated. The loaded fries were obviously microwaved and cold. The milk shake gave me diarrhea (not great for a 3 hour movie) and on top of that, there's an automatic 18% service charge on all orders and they STILL ask for tips when you pay. How about you pay your staff a livable wage and not expect the consumer to pay it for you. Not a good experience overall. The only redeeming factor is that the seats are comfortable and the staff is nice. Pay your staff more. read more

I came across this cool dine in movie theater in Monrovia so I could take my hubby to see Gladiator 2 for his birthday. I've never been to any of the Look Cinema locations but I was excited to see that there is a Tuesday special with our tickets coming out to about $17 for both. The theater looks like it's been here a while but revamped a few times. It's in a nice area of Monrovia on Myrtle by the public library. There's a free 8 hour public parking lot just around the corner across from the police station. The staff were friendly and the place was eclectic with its neon and black decor. There's signs posted around on how to order dine in for your movie, so when we got to our seats we scanned the QR code to look at the menu. A host/server came over and let us know if would be better to order directly from the servers because there's an unavoidable $3 service fee to order by QR so he helped us with a popcorn drink and candy combo for $17. Not bad honestly with how high theaters typically price their concessions. I can't speak on their prepared food items since we only got popcorn but we might try it out next time. We did see what the negative reviews were saying about people receiving items that they didn't order but it mostly happened later in the show so it's probably best to come a little early and get your order in. It was a little distracting to keep seeing servers walking in front of us while watching the movie for other people who ordered in our row. I kind of wish there was a cut off time so we could just watch the movie. Also some of the seats are very worn and missing pleather in patches on the arm rests. Overall it was still a cool experience, first time at a dine in theater for us. It's not fancy but it does the job and it's decently priced. Went to see Good Fortune tonight. Great price , comfortable seats and tasty food. The fries here are SOOOO good !!!!!! I think they changed the chicken strips will have to try them again next time to be sure. Let me tell you the star of the show was the warm, delicious, big chocolate chip cookie and surprise it is served with a scoop of vanilla ice cream . I'd actually get the cookie with ice cream and I noticed they serve coffee so that's always a possible choice next time. I have had a membership for a year and have also used it at their Glendale location. In regards to Monrovia: It has been on a constant decline. They've run out of staff which I did state months ago, "why would anyone work here?" The staff is incredibly nice and welcoming. The floors need to be power washed as they don't seem to receive a regular cleaning. They've lost their delivery robots as well as the number of waiters and runners so food takes much longer if it comes at all. The seats need a lot of love as they are peeling really bad and there's popcorn and other old junk collecting in their crevices. The projectors seem to be having issues as they are more frequently beginning to crash out. I love this place despite all of its issues. The owner just needs to up his/her game and take pride in their company. Treat your staff well and you might be able to keep them. Treat the building and everything in it well and your patrons will continue to visit. Please save your theater. I only have a couple days left of my membership and I do not plan on renewing, as this location is on a downwards slope. It is very unfortunate. *The Glendale location isn't much better and also seems to be going down the toilet with Monrovia. read more

I have a yearly pass for Look Cinemas and really wanted to use it more, but this location makes it tough. Every time I come in, the cleanliness and service are an issue. The seats are full of old popcorn and trash, which honestly makes me wonder how often the theaters are actually cleaned, especially since they serve food. There's also a smell in the auditoriums that is anything but appetizing. Service is consistently slow. I mean every visit comes with some sort of delay or mix-up with timing and order delivery. It's frustrating because I live so close, and I loved the idea of having this pass. I've spent money on drinks and food each time, trying to give it a fair shot, but feeling icky in my seat isn't exactly the movie experience I'm paying for. On top of that, the seats are falling apart, with the faux leather peeling everywhere. It's just not a comfortable or clean environment. I recently watched a movie for the 2nd time at Look Dine-In Cinemas in Monrovia. I had been here before many years ago when it was under different ownership and they have spruced up the place for sure. I come in to watch a Tuesday movie which was at a discounted price and I was very glad to discover this theater. The seating was very fancy and nice. The number of trailers that they air here are fewer than AMCs so when I had strolled in a couple minutes after show time the movie had just started. This was helpful for my 2nd visit so I didn't have to sit through too many trailers and I also didn't miss any of the movie this time around. The seats recline and it's a great experience here. Their online ticket system was really easy to do and purchase tickets. This most recent trip I had prepurchased tickets already and it was good to know to walk up to the side and not have to wait in line to get my QR code to be scanned. There are a couple of different parking lots in the back. But make sure that you park in the appropriate spots because some of them will have shorter time limits and especially if you plan on exploring downtown Monrovia afterwards. You don't want to get caught with any sort of parking ticket. The lot I parked in it right by the police station. read more

This is starting to become worrisome. Went into Theater #5 for the Naked Gun movie. Sure, this is not the #1 box office seller, however, the state of the entire location was not great. The bathrooms were dirty and not stocked, the leather on the chairs is worn out and feathered, and food/drink service is at a bare minimum. Entire theater was hot and air not circulating as well. At first, we ordered just a couple of waters, a soda, and a glass of wine. Even though I asked for the "40 min refill", it did not arrive. After the movie, the staff was kind enough to not just offer me a full glass of wine afterwards, but a also a complimentary pass. I sincerely want this business to thrive, I hope Look Cinemas will put a little bit more time, money, and consideration into keeping this location up to standards. read more

First off, location is very easy to find. There is street parking and there are lots all over, so parking is my one star. Selecting movie tickets at the self-serve counter was pretty simple. Checking out was delayed, and it could be connection issues, but it's still not bad. We purchased our tickets at 715 and used the restrooms that were in the front of the theater. Ordered our food at 7:27 for a movie that started at 730. I thought there would be some previews before the start of the movie, but the movie started at 730. We didn't personally place our food/drink order with the server. On the tray table, they had a QR code for the menu. We did everything through our app. Food menu selection were mainly "finger" foods: pizza, burger, nachos, hot dog, quesadilla, mac and cheese bites, and fries. I wished they could have had a little more variety, like pasta of some sort (that's what I was craving). I ended up getting the 2 hot dog and fries selection. The hot dog buns were nice and toasty, and fries were crinkle fries that had seasoning on them. it came with little souffle cups of mustard and ketchup, and I believe relish (too dark to see). Another star for the food quality. Drinks selection was a funny one. We believe there was a typing error on the coffee, $45, it stated. We asked if we could have a cup of water, and the guy said $2. We got sodas instead. If you wanted alcohol, they had limited selections on the app. You may want to stop by the bar in the front for more hard liquor drinks before going into your theater. The drinks came before the food, but when the food was delivered, I missed part of the movie because the server was handing us our food. I didn't like that. The seats were kind of hard to recline back. When you want to bring your chair back to sitting position, it always had a hard retraction, therefore making a loud thump. We were in theater 7 and had seats in the very back. The steps and floor felt really sticky when I was walking down from our seats. The women's restrooms both front and back had large toilet paper rolls were placed either on top of the toilet (near the flush button), or on top of the small trash bin, or on top of the contraption that held the toilet seat covers and small rolls of toilet paper. Either they didn't have the correct dispenser, or they received the wrong paper supply. Either way, I thought that was extremely unsanitary. In the women's restroom near theater 7, I passed through almost all the stalls because they were dirty, or didn't have any toilet paper in the stall. I decided to use the second one from the back. I sat down and noticed I can see the toilet bowl in the stall next to me! No one was in there so I quickly did my business and snapped a photo to show my friend how crazy it was! So cannot speak much about that. The restrooms were clean, the staff was attentive and was able to answer my questions since it was my first time. The only downer was, not knowing the area, I had to figure out the parking situation. So if you do go, make sure to have a peak of the local parking. There is time limits everywhere. I am disappointed they no longer have an arcade, and wish they would have chose to go the opposite direction and expand on the arcade and family friendly area. However I don't think they have the vision, resources, or funding to add on that venture. A combination of a humble Dave&busters + AMC cinema. They do have a bar that I have had the opportunity in meet some of the friendly staff, however the prices are not so friendly. PBR is sold for $8. They were very kid like as expected but the surround sound was really good and I could not hear them at all once the movie started. The theater itself was nice. The seats were comfy. Electric recliners with tables attached for enjoying your meal. Im not sure if you could fold them away or not, I didn't really try. The main lobby was clean and big. They had bar. I loved the decor. It's my local cinema so I go regularly but I do choose the other one at the mall when possible. Look feels like it needs a bit of a refresh, many of the seats are worn out and dingy. Worst thing is the forced upon 18% gratuity for concessions. They must have gotten a lot of complaints because the last time I went earlier this week, they had posted notices explaining and justifying the mandatory gratuity, which is what has prompted this review. The gist of it is that the notice says that they believe in paying their workers a living wage. Forcing your customers to pay a gratuity is not Look paying a living wage. WE are paying their wages, I hope I can get a cut of profits too then since I'm funding the paychecks. read more

Theater is a bit run down seats need updating. This theater is always warm wish the temperature was a bit cooler especially for hot summer days. I always rather come here than other theaters. Old town Monrovia always has a nice comforting feeling which keeps me coming back to this theater. The staff here is always nice but it needs a bit of a renovation. read more

I hadn't been to this theater since it was remodeled, but I did enjoy my experience here. I like the new seating, which has a little table to enjoy food better. I also enjoy how the food is brought to your seat and one can order anytime during the movie by pressing a button on one's table. A great thing is that there are vegan options! There is also plenty of leg room and no matter where you sit, no one can put their foot on the back of your chair. The service the days we've gone has been great. The theater also has a subscription/club option to view movies at discount rate throughout a year. I will definitely be returning. read more

My family went to see the 11 am showing of Avatar: Fire and Ash at the Monrovia Look location. We arrived at 11 am. When we got to our seats, a server approached and took my order. I ordered a large popcorn for our family to share before the movie started (this would have been probably around 11:05 am). The movie began and we had still not received our popcorn by 12:05 pm (1 hour later!). I pushed the call button on my chair and no one came for almost 15 minutes. My husband finally left the movie theater to go look for someone and said that he found one of the theater staff and told them what happened. We finally received our popcorn at 12:30 pm (one hour and a half into the movie!). Waiting for 1.5 hours for an order of popcorn is completely unacceptable. On top of that, no one came when we called for service. After the movie, I spoke to the manager and she was not helpful at all. When I explained what happened, all she said was, "Sometimes tickets get lost. Maybe your ticket got thrown away." There was a half-hearted apology towards the end and no offer to make things right such as a refund or a voucher for a future popcorn to make up for what happened. All she said was, "I'll let our staff know." Very poor service overall and very disappointed by how the "manager" handled the situation. I probably should have read the recent Yelp reviews regarding slow/no service. I am stuck watching movies here for another year because we just bought the annual membership. But I WILL NEVER BE ORDERING FOOD HERE EVER AGAIN! Poor customer service overall by the server and the manager. This is NOT a "Dine-In" cinema.
