I have heard the horror stories of this place and only because of weather and location, I decided to see one of the biggest movies on its opening day, Wakanda Forever....AMAZING movie! Not so amazing movie experience. Facility: I have no idea whether this facility is regularly checked for maintenance and technical adjustments. Here are a load of areas which were poorly kept. 1- Bathrooms: how is it 11 in the morning and the ladies room has tissue all over the floor and only 1 of their 6 sinks has soap...soap...in these times where germs are running around, a group of women are surrounding one sink in order to get soap. Then the paper towel dispenser was empty..oh the joy! This bathroom in disgust and discuss was the main bathroom near theater 1-8, I was beyond disappointed. 2- Theater: the floors were filthy, the auditorium was beyond hot, on a hot and rainy day. Next, there were no attendants to check on folks who were jumping in other people's paid seats, leading to rude privilege morons standing in front of folks while the movie was playing. I was beyond annoyed and the movie didn't call for that emotion. Did I mention that at the beginning of the movie, I can tell that the sound and visual were not synced but seconds after sudden jumping, it came together. At the end of the movie, an attendant appeared, my thoughts "wow! I didn't know they had anyone" At this point their presence wasn't needed. But I'm glad one finally showed. Staff: not the friendliest at all and I'm sure that stems from working in that area. Folks in that area are generally rude and I avoid the area unless I'm trying to support a business worth visiting-many of whom I actually frequent and appreciate...this theater isn't one of them and I won't return. Save your money, go where you can be comfortable and treated human...with kindness from workers and other customers. Sad for a representation of the AMC brand... read more

This is the worst movie theater I've been to in DC. I've experienced several significant audio/visual problems here, including a flickering screen throughout all of Marcel the Shell and loud speaker buzzing throughout multiple movies months apart (I think all were in the same auditorium, seemingly with a faulty speaker). But I'm finally writing this because yesterday it was like 95 degrees outside and the air conditioning wasn't working throughout the entire theater. It was disgustingly hot and humid throughout the movie, and the hallway smelled like BO afterward because everyone was sweating. Bathrooms are only located on one side of the building, so if your movie is showing on the opposite side you have to walk all the way through the lobby to get there, which takes forever. Their reclining seats are ridiculously small/narrow, and you have to share middle armrests. Their beer/wine selection isn't great, but they do offer large beer pours. I highly recommend going elsewhere if you're seeing a movie you care about, because the AMC Georgetown is likely to disappoint. Also, AMC, please get rid of the Nicole Kidman ad, please. read more

I am a huge fan of the movie scene. We decide to see a movie after Brunch (Jurassic Park). Spoiler Alert..It was really good.. Gotcha! I would never tell the movie This was my first time here and it was worth it. The theater was very clean. I love the fact they have two different areas throughout the theater to get your drinks and butter for your popcorn. The staff was pleasant and the popcorn was fresh. The seating is a little too comfortable, I didn't want to get up Baby! A Date night spot for sure..but what makes it even more romantic, you can walk across the street and look over the water. This is the only AMC in DC proper. The theaters are comfortable and have reclining seats. I think there should be a more metro accessible AMC in DC, but that's not the fault of this specific theater. I went most recently to see the Taylor Swift movie, and the staff all seemed to be enjoying the experience. They happily traded friendship bracelets and provided excelled service! read more

We went to see a 7:30 movie, and it was extremely obvious there hadn't been a cleaning crew between showings. There was trash and popcorn on our seats and in our cup holders, trash all over the floor, drinks half full left around. It was gross. By my standards, this is one of the best theaters in DC; their clean, comfortable seats and friendly and efficient staff make for a positive experience. There was a bright light in the projector room that was washing out the screen during the darker parts of the film. I expected it to get turned off when the movie started, but didn't. So I ran out of the theater as the film was starting, and informed an employee. He looked puzzled. I told him very explicitly, please turn off the light in the projector room for theater 14 where Minari was playing. It remained on through the entirety of the film. There is a lot of talk about how movie theaters won't survive. The argument against this is that watching movies at home can never replicate the theater experience. I have always loved going to the movies, but don't know if I can handle anymore paying so much money for such a sub-par experience. read more

As the only AMC in DC, we tend to end up here often. But had a horrible experience this past week in Theater Number Four. As soon as we walked in the theater, we all wrinkled our nose in disgust--the whole room smelled like a toilet. And then the theater was approximately 85 degrees inside, significantly hotter than both the hallway and the outdoors. And most people go to the movies to beat the heat! It was so overwhelmingly warm, that I thought I was going to pass out at moments. My back and legs were drenched with sweat by a third of the way through the movie--it made it near impossible to enjoy the film. And when it was over and we all stood up our collectively reaction was discomfort and disgust, knowing that no one would be wiping the sweat off our seats. No wonder the theater had smelled so bad! If the air conditioning was broken, they shouldn't have sold tickets to that theater, refunded tickets, or moved the film to a different theater. read more

Theatre is cozy, clean, phone service and WiFi is terrible once you pass the concession stands. Tuesday... movies are $5, and you can get a soda/popcorn for $5 as well. Parking garage is $9, if you validate Pretty standard theatre, but nice to have in Georgetown! read more

My friend and I went to the bar in amc to get a drink and there was a women being told "I can't serve you, you are way too drunk blah blah blah" (I can't remember exactly what she said but basically berating her for being drunk) and we were like dang but the lady just was like "ok" and walked away, then we tried to get a drink and the bartender went "bars closed" so I was like hmm interesting regardless of that women's drunkness the bar is closed and she would not have been able to get a drink anyways and the bartender could have easily just said this but I was like ok weird whatever public humiliation ritual ig. We then go meet our friends at the snacks area and the women who was previously accused of being blitzed was ordering popcorn and the bartender runs across the room and starts loudly "whispering" to the amc employees "she's so drunk I couldn't serve her" but for like 5 minutes (wayyyyy too long given how it seems like a pretty standard situation) purposely trying to embarrass this woman. The woman (who did not seem drunk at all) just stood there while hearing herself getting talked about loudly trying to get some popcorn. Idk I felt bad for the women; this actually happened a couple of weeks ago but I think about it everytime someone talks about wicked because that's the movie I was seeing. read more

My family and I have been coming to this theater for years. Unfortunately, tonight was our last visit. The popcorn is stale. The drinks are awful. The waitstaff let our food sit for so long (even though I preordered it online) that we missed the movie trailers, which was a bummer because I love seeing the new movies coming out. I bought 4 tickets and none of the seats reclined. Normally, I would have let all this slide without posting a review. However, the Manager (his names started with an A.), was so rude and unapologetic, I felt the need to share my experience so that others don't waste the money or time patronizing this establishment. Look, it's a great theater with a lot of money thrown at it, but whoever runs the operation needs to be replaced. My first, and only time, the popcorn was stale, the drink machines was out of all of their drinks, which I've never seen, and the butter was in a lukewarm pitcher so I couldn't help the stale popcorn. AMC Loews in Georgetown will probably be my go to theater, despite the fact that the regal theater in Chinatown is closer to me. There's a parking garage right next to the theater- $9 with validation which to me is worth it. I went to watch Star Wars in IMAX 3D yesterday which was awesome- the seats were pretty comfortable (even though they weren't the recliners). There's a bar as well as the usual snack bar right at the entrance. The drinks are around $10ish give or take, which to me is fine, considering DC is just generally expensive. Although I enjoyed my experience, $20 for an IMAX 3D experience is a little much. If this is the case, I should get a small popcorn for free or something! read more

Honestly, I steer away from giving negative reviews, but this AMC needs better management without a doubt. I come here to watch movies about once a month, and I've noticed a pattern here. First, parking is $10 for the parking and there's never any street parking. I understand this isn't the theaters fault, but for the service they provide, I believe it should be less. Second, the women's bathroom is constantly a mess. The past two times I've come there has been no soap in the dispensers and one of the sinks sometimes doesn't work. This is an easy fix, so it's confusing to me that this hasn't been taken care of , especially when it pertains to the sanitation and health of the overall theater. Third, I'm pretty sure the theater is extremely understaffed or they might just have a culture of not wanting to do stuff. The past 3 times I've come to watch movies, I've ordered ahead on the app with the "deliver to my seat" option. This is not a necessity for me at all, but I thought it would be nice to not get up so I paid my $2.20 for delivery. Every single time, no one has brought the food to our seat and I've wasted my money. The last time I was here for Ant-Man, I waited an hour into the movie, just to see if I was being dramatic. They did not come to bring me the food I paid delivery for. I went to the register and they had the order there but said that they were going to get to it soon. This is the same thing they've told me each time. One hour is too much to be waiting for food, by that time I've seen half of the movie! If they cannot do delivery anymore they should just take the option off of the app for that theater, instead of taking peoples money and having no intention of delivering. read more

Wow what an upgrade. So I haven't been here in about a year and had no idea they had even renovated. There's now a bar inside which allows you to enjoy drinks during the movie. Definitely worth being an AMC Stubs Premiere member so that you can reserve your seats ahead of time and online fees are waived. I sat in theater #14 which even from the back row was a great view of the movie. I love the reclining chairs and the theaters were very clean. Two downsides: 1. parking is very difficult and the garage is $9 with validation which is a little pricey since movie tickets are never cheap and 2. There was only one person working at the entrance where you show your tickets so it took awhile to get through. read more

Recently saw the new 007 movie here in IMAX. The AC was either broken or set too low, because the entire theater was unpleasantly warm. So warm, in fact, that most of the patrons in the theater were pulling their masks down just to breath. (Not a great look, given DC's current COVID metrics) Can't say if what we experienced was specific to their IMAX theater (theater 7) or a building-wide issue, but it turned a great movie into a very uncomfortable experience, and will probably cause us to choose a different venue next time unless someone from management acknowledges the issue and vouches that it's been addressed. AMC even goes out of their way to advertise that they're filtering the air in their theaters with MERV13 filters to combat the risk of COVID droplets being spread. Well that's all well and good, but having MERV13 filters does nothing if the blowers aren't running when the theater is at full capacity! read more

This theater is nice and in a nice area. However, I saw a mice right below my feet. Absolutely disgusting and I do not plan on being back. When I told a staff member about this all she said was "sorry" and kept cleaning. "Sorry" I wont be spending my money to watch movies with mice. read more

This theater needs attention. We ordered our snacks brought to out seats bc I'm currently using a cane and have trouble with stairs much less holding things and stairs. The movie began, no snacks delivered. I eventually went to get them and they didn't even seem bothered that they didn't do their job. Went to the restroom after the movie, not TP in most of the stalls. I thought they may want to know so I walked to guest services and instead of being greeted, I was asked by a guy working there if I had a pen he could borrow. Lol! Guest services had no pens?!? There were at least 5 employees standing at the front, but no deliveries were happening, no restroom was being restocked, and apparently no one had thought to buy pens. ‍ I do not usually leave bad reviews, only good ones, but this was just comical after I was asked for a pen. read more

The big comfy red recliners are always a plus, we were in theater 2 & the spacious multi-level seating was even a bigger plus. Located across from the G-Town waterfront, Loew's theater layout gives it a state of the art look, while offering the Cocoa-Cola Freestyle, Reserved Seating, Dolby/IMAX, MacGuffins Bar. The restrooms were extra tidy as the concession stand needed more hands-on deck for servicing & keeping order. The external box office & balcony gems up the theater. The fast moving employees especially at the ticket counter didn't have much small talk while trying to move the customers in orderly fashion. & if for any reason you can't use your App or the ticket kiosks, please note that while selecting your tickets, the screen is not touch interactive...this is what the ticket counter employee stated twice over to everyone. I remembered what Gail R. shared about April's promotion, however, three out the four employees I spoke to had no clue. Now come on staff, you have to stay abreast of the current promotions. To note: If you are not a Stubs / Premier member, it's surely worth the annual fee (Stubs - $10 & Premier $15) to earn rewards, free upgrades & specials like $5 Tickets Tuesdays. June 1, 2021 update: you don't have to wear a mask if you are vaccinated, they are still distancing seats. I really liked the theater and its seats. Food is expensive. Parking is atrocious, I recommend going into the garage for the $10 for 4 hours deal, so you can get dinner & a movie or a movie & a long walk along the water. It didn't know me away, but I am happy with my movie, the popcorn, and the experience. I definitely look forward to coming back out. read more

Ever since they renovated their theater space, I am a fan. They added the BEST seats to every theater. Each chair is large and reclines to your preferred setting. It truly is amazing and if you're not careful, you may pay for an expensive nap if you get too comfortable. This theater is also in a fun part of town. It's not Metro accessible (about a mile walk from Foggy Bottom), but it's in Georgetown by the waterfront and under a bridge. Before or after your movie, you can stop by DC loved cupcake shop, Baked and Wired, for a tasty snack. read more

So I came here two nights in a row this weekend: Slenderman on Saturday and The Meg on Sunday. Highly recommend the latter; the former not as much. FIRST NIGHT: They do offer IMAX and RealD 3D here, but didn't for Slenderman on this night, so we just watched it in standard (which I don't really care about/mind.) We were in Theater 10, which had the awesome leather recliners - a must for me when I see any movie now that I've become spoiled. SECOND NIGHT: We were in the Dolby theater for The Meg, and the visuals/vibrating effects were definitely at a higher cinematic quality, but the seats were way worse in here - makes no sense since the Dolby theaters are supposed to be nicer. They did have the leather recliners, but they didn't recline all the way back AND there's this weird thing where some of the non-movable arm rests with the controllers are next to each other. Meaning, if you and bae are sitting next to each other and you both have the arm rests with controllers touching each other between you, you cannot lift up the arm rests for cuddling. Such was the situation for us (until halfway through the movie I finally switched to the seat on the other side of him.) This may be a good reason to not select seats beforehand online if you're going as a couple, because there's no real way of knowing if you'll encounter this seat issue until you see the seats in person. OVERALL NOTES: Obviously they have all the standard delicious pre-packaged snacks, but they also have chili cheese dogs that they make from scratch, which were outstanding. They also have an extensive cocktail list at the MacGuffins Bar; the frozen margaritas are pretty good if you upgrade to Patron. I'd give it a 3.5 based on the Dolby theater sucking, but I'm rounding up because I do plan on making this my go-to theater in DC... I'll just avoid Dolby next time. read more

I can't really complain about this theatre - the stuff people hate is all things I can circumvent. The parking with validation is $9 - which will save you $2-5 bucks depending on how long your movie is. However, that parking garage is a bitch to access with even a remote amount of traffic. The right turn is super tight thanks to a metal pillar, and you basically have to Hail Mary turn your way out when you're leaving, hoping there's no pedestrians under your tires from the blind spots. Lucky for me, it's almost all downhill for a walk, and cheaper for me to split a Lyft/Uber back. The theatre common spaces are really small too. There's the bar for drinks which is nice, but the line for tickets and concessions are super tight. At least there's a DIY Coke machine, but I would totally anticipate the staff getting overwhelmed in rush hour times. If your theatre is on the right side, you can avoid the rush somewhat and fill your drinks over there. The seats are the new recliners if you're not watching IMAX. Yeah the ticket prices are kind of expensive a la carte. But between Moviepass, Sinemia, and the new A-List promotions, it's really becoming cheaper to come in with a subscription even if you watch every other month. On that basis alone, I like this theatre. Comfy chairs, good visual and sound. Can't ask for more than that in a movie. read more

Recently went because a friend rented a theater to watch the newly released black widow. Having a private theater was nice because you didn't have to deal with random loud kids or people opening random wrappers loudly during the most suspenseful scene of the movie. They also have reclining seats which is also nice. That being said it's a typical movie theater. There was popcorn and other unidentifiable items stuck between the cracks of the seats. Food/concessions are overly priced with already overly priced tickets IMO. PLUS with this location you may have to pay for parking if you're driving. One of the parking garages next to the theater offers $10 parking with validation from the theater but it's only good for 4 hours. Max price for a parking is $25 (I happen to know because I accidentally threw out my ticket with my friend's nachos). Charlotte's cliff notes: Gets the job for theater. Honestly one of the best AMCs in the DMV area, from my experience. Every theater has recliners, plus there is a tiny wall that blocks you from seeing the crowd sitting in front of you so even if someone is on their phone you can't tell, and all the screens seem to be well-kept. I've not tried any of the food so I can't speak on that nor the service. But if you are just getting a ticket and going straight to the theater, it's great. Sneak your own food in anyway. read more

My friends and I came to the AMC in Georgetown on a Saturday night. The reserved seating and comfy chairs were great, and there is plenty of room between the rows. I would come back to see a movie. Went to this dump tonight to see John Wick and walked right out. First off, I go to the ghetto, disheveled concession to order a slushy and the ratchet, dusty attendant just starts yelling "we closed". Then "Bon Qui Qui" (old Mad TV reference) comes over to clear the register and rolls her eyes at us. Then the manager comes through to reiterate that they are closed. No signs.... Nothing. Then I get into the theater and it's hot as hell, smells like an old attic, and the customers reek of stale clothes and weed. I sat in my seat for two minutes, said to myself "Hell No" and walked right out. This is the most poorly managed, poorly maintained movie theater I've ever been to in my entire life. Fire the manager, fire the entire concession staff and the cleaning crew and just start all over with this place. read more

Been to this theater a few times and it's not bad (at least the seats recline - a must for me these days) and it's fairly clean. My most recent visit here was what prompted me to write this review now. I was here for a screening of "Game Night" last night (2/12/2018) and based on my experience having gone to many screenings, I know that early arrival is key. I arrived at 5:20 for the 7 p.m. screening and the guy at the door who had an attitude by the way, told me they don't allow anyone to get in line until 6...ok not a big deal. I went to a bar down the block to grab a quick drink. I decided I wasn't waiting until 6 to head back. I got back to the theater around 5:50 and from outside I can see there was a line inside the lobby. I went inside and confirmed that those folks were indeed in line for the "Game Night" screening. Granted there were only 10 people ahead of me, but then again, those 10 people could be holding spaces for others so I guessed I was about number 18 in line now. So what happened to the whole not letting folks get in line until 6 p.m.??? The lobby started to get crowded so they directed us down the hall to the actual theater the movie would be shown in and I noticed there were a few folks already lined up there - how is that possible?! I guess I was number 26 in line now...sigh! At least we didn't have to wait too long in line again before they let us in. I was able to get a decent seat. I can't say I'd be in a rush to come back here for a screening until they get better organized. And once you get past the lobby, you'll unlikely have any cell phone service!! read more
