The sound in theater 3 is SO LOUD! I asked if they could lower the volume a bit and they did not. It's unbearable how loud it, my ears are ringing. I don't think they even adjust sound to the size of the that room. Theater 3 is very very small! read more

This is a smaller theater associated with a big brand. The cinemas were spacious and had reclining seats (which I like) covered with leather (which I do not). The movie selection had something worth seeing, and while the theater did not appear to have dedicated parking there were some garages for the small suburban shopping center in which this building rests. It was fairly crowded, but not to the point where I couldn't find something. The previews were quite long. It was a passable experience, but I didn't get the bigger, higher-quality screen that I was hoping for when I searched online. read more

I have to be honest: I don't typically leave movie theater reviews, especially for big chains, but I really do love this location. It's super intimate feeling, and the staff is always very nice, especially at concessions. There's one woman in particular, who is super kind to me every time I stop through the concession stand. I have not caught her name yet, but she has long dark hair and is a person of color. She's incredibly nice and considerate and is non-judging when I want a popcorn refill within minutes of getting a large popcorn. Lol Also love that this location is never packed. read more

Who's up for the movies!!! If you are this is a decent place....but I will start with saying it could use some upkeep and updates. When you come in they have a small seating area if you need to wait, and a nice small food ordering station. The candy portion had scattered placement of candy. Several empty areas. When you walk pads the food area and the ticket counter, they have someone at the entrance area of the movies to check your tickets. They will then lead you to your theater. Once you get into the theater....and make it to your seats, that's where some upgrades/service may need to happen. There were several seats that were struggling to go back and then were really loud when we moved them back to the sitting position. My seat had salt all over the chair. The drink holder areas are pilling. So I think they should take some time to inspect the theaters seats and areas. The bathroom also needed some love. The floors were wet, and the paper towel holder was empty, but there is a hands free hand dryer for those that like those. It's chiller out, so I would have preferred my hands to be completely dry. All in all the screen that we watched the movie on was great. Just some service/upkeep could happen to truly improve the experience. read more

Had a great time at this theater, came in for a matinee and it was practically empty. Everything is on one floor, which makes navigation super easy. Staff are friendly, and if you're not in the mood to socialize you can use the automated machines. I frequent this facility often, tickets on Tuesday are $7 for members (free membership) and there's free parking in the lots/garages. On this particular occurrence, a Friday, we decided to purchase a bottle of wine listed for $42. Bucks he bartender told us $57 and that the prices listed weren't the true price. Instead that bottle was $51 in reality. As we walked up, the bartender was on his phone, you'd think they'd take the time to update the values with a pen until the new ones come in. In summary, the reclining leather seats are a plus, but make sure you confirm drink prices before purchasing. read more

I'm surprised this theater only has 3 stars. We've gone many times over the years and it has always been clean, with friendly staff, and very comfortable reclining chairs. The theaters are definitely small, so if you like to sit really far back from the screen or to be in a large audience, you might not get that experience, but I wouldn't say you're crammed up close. This is always our preferred movie destination. And there are a ton of great restaurants you can go to before or after. read more

This is my neighborhood movie theater so I'll always be partial to it, but man is it in DESPERATE need of a glow up. I know movie theaters are struggling but this one always just feels gross, unclean and sticky and smells like that too. Many of the recliners are ratty to the point that you can see stuffing and need to be replaced. The folks working here carry the expression best described as "I give up." It's no surprise whatsoever that people have seen mice running around in the auditoriums. Hopefully that's a problem they've fixed. read more

The theater is fairly small for the area. The rows only go to row G and there isn't a platform in the middle like other AMC's. The seats are tight and even though they recline they are LOUD going down and up. I think it could have been a cleaner theater as well. Although the movie I seen wasn't in iMax I've seen better quality screens at other locations. Not sure if I would necessarily pick this location to go again. However it did the job done, because there are plenty of restaurants to go to that are walking distance. Street parking and a free garage across the street are available. read more

Decided to catch a movie on my day off. I got there just in time to see "Are your there God? It's me Margaret." I decided to stop by MacGuffin's Bar on the way in. I got a glass of wine and some mozzarella sticks since I had not eaten yet. The wine was nice and cold, while the mozzarella sticks were hot and fresh. I liked that the theater had assigned seating. They also reclined and had a built in cup holder. I would definitely come back. read more

This movie theater has gone down the drain. The ushers were behind in getting the auditoriums cleaned. The person manning the concession stand was sitting on one of the displays with both feet elevated while using her phone. When we asked if we could buy popcorn she acted as if we inconvenienced her. She then proceeded to take our order while still texting on her phone. She was unable to answer any questions we had and instead referred us to another employee by saying "I don't know. Talk to her." Anyways, this is not our first bad experience here, but it's the first I'm writing about. But this will certainly be our last visit here. There are other movie theaters nearby that are way better in terms of service and cleanliness. read more

I've been to this theater before but my most recent visit was a little bit chaotic. They were out of straws so somebody had to run across the street to CVS to buy a bunch which normally wouldn't be a big deal except that I had opted to get a icee, which needs an especially long straw. We made do, it was just slightly annoying. The entry area is also really cramped so if you're trying to come for a popular movie I recommend getting early even if you reserve your seats online. On the right side of the seats were super comfortable and the sound and picture quality were great. I also really love the Shirlington area there's lots of little restaurants and places to go for coffee or snacks before and/or after a movie. read more

Came in for a morning showing of Top Gun and the guy behind the counter was great. Very nice and helpful. It was really simple. Theater was smaller but clean and comfortable. Sound could have been a little better IMO, but I enjoyed the experience. 30% discount of showings before 4 pm was great, too! All good in my book. read more

Avoid the crowds and see first-run movies in the comfort of HUGE, COMFORTABLE, RECLINING beastly chairs at a smaller cinema with only 7 screens. Parking is a limiting factor that keeps the crowds away. Plenty of great local restaurants you can go to before or after the movie if you don't want to fill up on crap at the theater. On our first visit...we filled up on crap at the theater. Oh, and the seats are leather...so they squeak. You'll only notice that if your the first ones to arrive and the previews haven't yet started! If you have kids and you know the weather is going to be bad, this is a great place to go on a weekend morning. First showing is 1030! read more

My 400th Review! AMC Shirlington is the 3rd theater in the AMC A-List era. In spite of living in Arlington from 2014-2017, I had only been to this theater on a couple of occasions prior to Sunday, July 8, 2018. I did a double feature that day at Shirlington, the 2nd of which was a date & dinner afterward. Shirlington has big comfortable recliners, which I always like. There was one time the recliner didn't work, but one of the workers fixed the issue. Interestingly, in spite of my liking Shirlington, I hadn't been there since Friday, January 10, 2020 in spite of it being a favorite. Times when I go to VA, I end up going to theaters by the Beltway, Tysons or Hoffman. Shirlington often loses out simply because there are only 7 screens, and in the past they tended to show more independent movies you couldn't get anywhere else. However, in more recent times, they show what the other theaters show. read more

This theater is in a great location for a dinner and a movie date. A number of great food options nearby. It's a pretty standard movie theater with the contemporary upgrades. They have the reserved, comfy reclining seats and a bar with beer and wine available. While food and soft drink prices are ridiculous at almost every movie theater, theirs are a bit on the cheaper end of the AMC-style theaters in the area, and the beer prices are downright reasonable. They have fairly quick and friendly service for tickets and food/drinks. If you're looking to see a movie, AMC Shirlington is a solid option. I strongly considered giving them a fourth star, but of the two times I've gone, the movie started kind of late both times. The second time wasn't that bad, but I'm pretty sure that the first time they merged our showing time with the one 45 minutes later without telling us. It was a ridiculous wait. The movie started an hour after the starting time. The waits didn't inconvenience me since I wasn't trying to get anywhere (and had a comfortable seat there), but still... This might be the best AMC-style theater in the area to go to for a dinner & movie night... as long aren't on a schedule on the back end. read more

Tickets are are purchased online and the nice part because of covid, you can order your theater food online too. Very convenient when walking in there in time. You have plenty of time to see the previews. The theater and restrooms were spotless! The boyfriend and I wnemmebt to see a Filipino Indie Movie to celebrate Filipino American Heritage Month. This was my first movie theater experience since the onset of the pandemic. I think most of the people in the theater, and the edifice in general, were wearing face masks. So I did too for the movie, which is about as comfortable as it sounds but hey, not their fault. Overall I'd say the theater itself is fairly middle of the pack in terms of selection, playing times, price, and comfort level--the seats were ok but not the best I've had. One big plus is it is convenient to a lot of dining options. So dinner and a movie works well here, or at least about as well as it will work until we're beyond the pandemic. read more

This place has potential but it was a miss for me, unfortunately, because I live on the block. But I don't think I'll be back. I came on a Sunday night, it wasn't busy at all, and it was one of the dirtiest theaters I've been too. There was some water or liquid on both mine and my husband's seats and all in the cupholder. The bathrooms looked like a bomb went off. My pretzel bites went into the trash they tasted so bad (pretty hard to mess up soft pretzels, but alas). The seats weren't even comfy for being recliners. Just an okay theater... They have popcorn and a very limited offering of other snacks... The available choices of different soft drinks is pretty good... There are very limited choices of beers to chose... Look, the surrounding neighborhood has dozens of good/great restaurants for dining. Eat first then visit... The best seats are the ones at the farthest back towards each theater's individual entrance (so called disability seating). Don't look for any outstanding features... Pleasant AMC with plush leather recliners and reserved seating standard in all of the theaters. The theater is often understaffed, so expect longer-than-usual waits if you buy something at concessions. And the bathrooms could be cleaner because of understaffing. I'm still giving the theater four stars because of the seats--and the Shirlington location convenient to many great restaurants. I always use the automated machines to buy tickets, ever since one employee prevented me from using my AMC Stubs card to collect points on a movie I paid for with MoviePass. I've never encountered that policy at other theaters. Because MoviePass seems to be going under, I guess that shouldn't be a problem much longer. read more

Rented an entire theater for the family to watch ELF the week of Christmas and was very impressed! It was reasonably priced and we didn't have to risk being around others during a pandemic bc we had the entire theater to ourselves (for $99). Masks are required the entire time, of course. Newer movies cost more but they have some classic crowd-pleasers for $99. You can bring up to 10 people. And the mozz sticks were delicious :) read more

They have mice. I left my movie to let them know thinking maybe the mice are entering because it's winter. I was warned by someone that works there. He said I may want to gather my stuff and leave. He admitted he is trying to be transferred because the uncleanliness and the mice are all year round at this particular theater. I'm an A-list member and tend to go where convenient. On par with the other "luxury" AMC theaters I've been to. Reclining leather seats, advance seat selection, alcoholic beverages for purchase, etc. It is NOT a full bar though - beer and wine only. That was disappointing. We came to see IT, and as can be expected, all the good seats on Saturday night were sold out. We ended up in the third row on the waaaay left side, and it was the worst view I've ever had while watching a movie. Life pro tip: if the only seats available at this theater are on the side, just come back another night. They shouldn't have even bothered building those seats there - the angle is not worth paying money for. read more
