Saw the Wicked Movie on screen 18. First I don't like this buying tickets at the concessions stuff because it screws anyone who already bought tickets online and wants to buy food. Everyone has to wait in the same line to get food. You basically lose the privilege of planning ahead (and spending $2 more) because you're waiting with all the other plebeians who are buying their tickets same day. We bought online then went straight in to get our seats, but when I came back I found I had to go all the way back OUTSIDE to get in line for food. Also so screen 18 was showing a musical. There was something immediately off about the sound. You could hear it, but there were no mids and little bass. The sound system was so flat that whole 3hr picture. Watching a musical, this bugged me so much. It just wasn't as full as you'd expect a theater sound system to be. Lastly 2 boxes of candy and a regular and large popcorn were $35. Weirdest thing happened this weekend. I was looking at movies to go see and didn't see anything at Willow Knolls that I was interested in. I then checked AMC and saw the Trump movie "The Man You Don't Know." I took a screenshot of the times for Friday on Thursday night. When my son and I showed up Friday for the 5:05 showing, the cashier said they only had Beetlejuice playing at that time. I showed her my screenshot with the date and times so she went a few feet to ask a manager. I was in earshot and heard the manager say, "tell them it's not playing and that's all you need to say." The manager offered no explanation, no apology and couldn't even be bothered to speak to me himself. That'll be the last time I return to AMC. I'll just stick to my trusty GQT Willow Knolls! read more

Honestly not sure why this theater has such bad ratings. My husband and I visited from out of town and almost didn't go because of the ratings- glad we didn't listen! They offer a variety of foods from popcorn and candy to pizza and chicken tenders. The prices seem fair compared to most movie theaters I have visited and the facility was extremely clean when you walk in. They also have a customer service booth, which is the first time I have ever seen that. The staff was very nice and had no issues with them being rude. The theaters were very clean and roomy. The seats and arm rests are padded and very comfy, the floors were clean, and there was room in between the rows so you could stretch your legs out. The movie screen was clear and the surround sound was great too. Would definitely visit again if were ever in the area! read more

Came here a couple months ago and usually I love coming to the bigger theaters, but all I remember from this visit is that the movie didn't start on time, the lights didn't get turned off until well into the previews, the screen wasn't on but the sound was playing when we walked in and it didn't get turned on until after the second or third preview. Just really frustrating to not be able to see anything at a theater. read more

So this theater changes hands yet again with not a single improvement or upgrade to be found. Parking lot still sports crater-sized potholes in every aisle, some of them literally 5 feet across. The self-serve ticket kiosks still have out of order signs on them. Popcorn still tastes like old oil. Bathrooms are still insanely disgusting with no toilet paper in half the stalls, used paper towels all over the entire room due to overflowing trash bins, no soap in most of the dispensers, broken locks on the doors, just basically a completely trashed room. Theaters are dirty, I always put a sweater or coat over the back of the seats to *maybe* prevent contamination of my hair. If spilled popcorn can't even get swept up between shows, you think those fabric chair covers have ever been cleaned?? Honestly, at this point Willow Knolls is back to being the "nice" theater again. AMC put out a statement when they bought this place 8 months ago with all these improvements they were going to do but haven't seen a single change, the sign even still says Carmike! Oh, they aren't taking my rewards card, that is only change. For a city this size to have a theater this rundown is ridiculous. It is constantly packed with people so they just keep raking in the money and not putting one dollar back in it. Frustrating! read more

First time at this theater and I didn't realize it was AMC until I was at the snack counter. I did get my stub club credit and the gal at the counter made sure I received credit for the movie as well. Very nice place with a small gaming area and there were pets available for adoption that you could hold and pet. What's not to love about that! Anyway the seats were comfortable and the temperature and acoustics just fine. I enjoyed the movie and popcorn. I will make a point of returning! read more

Yes, pretty lame...it's an empty cinema on a Friday night??? Folks don't do Cinemas anymore? Note the H2O vs. a Coke...do people still drink soda? They have extra large bottles of water which is nice. The candy is mostly box and not much candy...bring your own. The Carmike refillable popcorn is a good deal. Floors were not sticky. That's an instant 4-stars in my book. read more

*updated* LIE-MAX! So right out of the bat regarding the Imax, this is a fake Imax (28ft x 58ft), the true and real IMAX is 76FT X 97FT, so the size is much smaller but you pay the same! However, the employees are friendly, the bathrooms are clean, the hallways are clean and nicely designed, the regular theaters have really nice, large screens with sharp sounds, comfortable seats, and large space. For the film nerds like me, they don't have film projectors, all digital, I also hope they start giving better movie sub tickets since I collect them 8) I also hope they start showing classic films here. [UPDATE] I recently was there to see A Most Wanted Man, I was telling myself this is a clean and big screen size, I just wish the parking lot lines were visible, but then I got really offended, the security guys kept coming to the room checking on me and right in the third act were everything was getting interesting the security came to me and ask me to show him my ticket. For me who pay to watch movies and support indie films all the time, this was very offending, I'm not gonna pull the race card because the rooms are dark, but I come to this very often and pay for movies, I have been at many theaters but I was never asked for it - I'm an indie filmmaker myself, so I know the pain behind making and showing it to public. read more

Usually always keep the place nice, clean and air conditioned. Seats are comfortable, screen is big, sound is perfect. Staff is always friendly. A few of the women's bathroom stalls hand nonworking locks, but other than that I never have any issues here. Staff does popcorn and movies and you fill your own drinks/slushees. They have a nice arcade for before or after the movie, however no way to get cash back if you want to put money in the change machine for change to play. read more

We got into the theater and through we were in the wrong one. There was trash everywhere. We could not find a row where there wasn't any trash of spilled popcorn. I know sometimes ushers are too busy and can miss a theater cleaning, but this was a Sunday night at 7 and there was only a handful of people there. I did go to the manager and he sent someone in to clean right away. But when I went to the bathroom it was even worse. The trash was overflowing, no soap, and no paper towels. I have been going to this theater since it first opened up as Rave, then Carmike, and now it is AMC. Nothing has really changed except for the name of it. This is the theater to go to if you want a pleasant movie experience. It is very expensive so it keeps the teenager and loud crowd out for the most part. Self-service kiosks do not work. Except for peak times, the tickets are sold at the concession stand. Sign up for AMC Stubs (the free one) if you plan to be a frequent flier. It does take a ridiculous amount of time/movies to get anything free. Concessions are ridiculously overpriced. They serve everything from stale popcorn, standard movie theater food (i.e., hot dogs and pretzels), and even premium items like pizza and chicken tenders. If possible, go on Thrifty Tuesdays to save a lot of money on tickets and concessions. Butter and $7 sodas are self-serve. Always make sure you tell them your phone number or e-mail (if you are an AMC stubs member), before you make any purchases. The theater themselves are spacious, clean, good sound quality, good picture quality, and have the most comfortable seats in Peoria. If you want privacy and to avoid crowds, this is the place to go to watch movies. If you are a Sam's Club member, you can buy $45 in gift cards for $43. read more

I went here with a friend the other day. We were originally going to see our film at 4:00 but at last minute we had to switch it to 7:00. There was a change in price due to this so my friend called the manager who said that he'd let her just pay the difference rather than perchase 2 new tickets. Awesome! It still has all the usual move theater problems like overpriced snacks and WAY too many ads that aren't movie trailers, but the place was clean and the seats were arranged so it was impossible for a tall person to block your view (very nice if you're 5'1" like me!). They left the lights on during the ENTIRE movie. They do this as a policy. Only come here if you have math homework to do during the film. Let me explain how disappointing this is. I went for the IMAX 3D showing of Avengers: Infinity War, the most anticipated movie of all time, perhaps you've heard of it. I get there 10 minutes before the show, the lights 20 feet up along the walls are fully lit and some concession commercials are playing. Then when the previews began, I expected the lights to dim. But they didn't! Previews are part of the movie going experience. Some previews are even in 3D and that in itself can be quite the experience (If you saw the 3D preview of Pirates of the Caribbean Dead Men Tell No Tales or for Wonder Woman, you would agree). So I thought it was weird that they didn't dim, but I figured the person running things was just slow or forgot. Then when the movie began, the lights dimmed halfway but never turned off. They were so bright, it was like seeing a lamp lit on the left and right of the screen the entire movie. It was so bright that there was reflection off the screen from all the ambient light, making the film look gray all the time. No colors were vibrant. Blacks were not dark, and whites were not bright. It was like watching a movie on a plane where you neighbor leaves the window shade up. So as I watched this grayed-out movie, nothing felt real. Everything seemed like a faded picture. Someone could die or get hurt and it had no emotional impact. I was never able to get pulled into the viewing experience. Even in 3D, I didn't feel like I was there. Honestly, I had a better movie experience watching Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice on my phone at home. And that's a pretty low bar. But I usually like to give people the benefit of the doubt. So after the film, I went to customer service and asked if it was a mistake to leave the lights on during the movie. The person there said with no hesitation that the lights were on purposefully to keep people from falling. I guess that makes sense, but isn't that why there are floor lights? Isn't that why they have those lights that point downward with a cover over them so the floor can be lit but not affect the movie? How is it that every other movie theater in the world has figured this out but this place is still leaving the wall lights, that hang at eye level with the screen, on. I don't get it. It was my first time at this theater, but I've been to other AMC's before and have always had no issue. Actually, I've never had an issue with any theater before. That includes theaters with $2 tickets. That includes theaters abroad with standing room only and you get lice from the seats. So I likely will only come back to watch a movie at this place if have some knitting or homework to do during the movie. (PS I don't knit and I'm done with school so this will never happen) read more

I have seen a million movies here. My most recent visit was to see Star Trek, which was fantastic btw. They have a friendly staff, clean theater, and comfy seating. They also offer a party room, which seems like a cute idea for a kids party. The sound and picture never fail to be great. I have been to several midnight shows here as well. The crowd is always really fun and I always have a great time. I would have rated a 4 star, but I happened to go to a show that fell in there super special price time. Between 4-5:30 they offer shows for $5.50 any day. What a great deal on a Saturday afternoon. I also saw ads for special concessions pricing. Can't quite remember what the deal was on that, but yay for budget spending! Thanks Carmike! read more

We went to a 12:35 Saturday afternoon movie at AMC. We were in theater #4, and we were the only ones there. I have no idea when it was last cleaned, but it obviously wasn't prior to our movie. Spilled popcorn and containers, along with other remnants of concessions, littered the floor. After the movie, we threw away our trash, but I wonder when management would have someone sweep up. When we walked down the hall, paper and other debris were in the hallway. The garbage can OUTSIDE the women's restroom was overflowing. It's always a toss up to see if there will be people running the box office, but now the theater looks like it will be the same odds for a clean moviegoing experience. It definitely saw better days when it was the Rave and later, Carmike. It's starting to look rundown. Sad. read more

I was beyond disappointed with my last experience at my local Carmike Theater. I've been seeing movies at this theater for over 4 years now. Tonight was by far the worst experience I've had. They were extremely understaffed. The staff themselves are always friendly and the theaters are always clean. But tonight I went to see the 9:45pm Deadpool in IMAX and waited in the concessions line which was out the door just to buy my tickets. I was in line for nearly 20 minutes and felt rushed when purchasing my tickets do to the fact that there was still a line of people out the door behind me, I could tell that the employee helping me was stressed. Previous visits have been far better and until this theater decides to start staffing appropriately again I will be seeing my movies elsewhere. read more

Went to see the original Halloween movie last night. There was supposed to be an introduction/interview bonus with history of the film and there wasn't! $12.50 per person! The young kids working the theater had no idea what we were talking about when we asked. I went back the following day and the manager refunded my tickets! Very happy how they handled it.
