Gulfpointe 30 is wild though. The main movie theater serving the SE side of Houston, the Latin vibes here are fuerte. It's loud, rambunctious, and crowded on the weekends. AMC has stepped it up with recliner seats, individual armrests, middle armrests that lift so my honey and I can "snuggle" ... and by snuggle I mean make out and make others uncomfortable. Unfortunately, not all the theaters are equipped with the upgraded seats. The concession lines are long; it's the only drawback really. I signed up for the A List which gives you a special lane that prioritizes your needs over the masses in the regular lines. Be a bigger bad ass and order ahead on the app; the food will be ready at your designated time and you can pick up with no waiting. Tip: You can pretend to have ordered something at the Express via the app, claim it didn't get through, and they'll take your order next. It's rude to the other people in line but F it, you tryna get to the seat so you can make out. Run it playboy! read more

Seated next to me was a lady and her dog. Yep you read it right, she brought her dog. A nosey freakin dog who kept sniffing my shoes. The worst theater I've ever been in. The line for the one snack bar that was open, was 20-25 minutes deep. Think airport security lines only worse because it's at least 80 degrees in the lobby. I've been waiting to see the inside out movie that just came out two weeks ago it's currently monday right, so i'm not sure if they still have the popcorn bucket but doesn't hurt to ask(i've been looking forward to this bucket for sooooo long) and once im at concessions this guy laughed at me said he doesn't know why people still ask because they sold out two fridays ago, and that really hurt me not just the news but how he told me and laughed at me. Yay sticky floors and salty popcorn!! I get it, the kids that work here are high school kids(at least they look like it), so it's not gonna be the cleanest place. This movie theater is my childhood. Like I have been coming here since i was a young kid. But I've also grown and expect better things as the years have gone on. This place has stayed the same, well, they added a bar. They have also added to the "menu". They have chicken tenders and other fried food available. My sons favorite will always be chips and queso. This is what probably gets me coming back here. He is a sucker for nachos. They are a theater so it's obviously over priced. No stale chips and packaged queso should be $15. The seating is ok, the chairs aren't updated so it's standard seating. The best part was buying the tickets online! We didn't have to wait in line to buy our ticket. Just a small fee to not wait in line. I will gladly pay that fee, tho. read more

I haven't been to the movies in years, but I just had to support Crazy Rich Asians, so I went the 2nd weekend it opened. I think theatres are on the decline because I was able to find a spot pretty close to the front. I bought tickets online to save me from waiting in line on a Saturday night, but because its on the decline, there was no line... Next time, I'll know to save myself the convenience fees. I was emailed my ticket confirmation and the ticket attendant has a QR scanner. Once inside, they had the main concessions open. It's pretty dead, but for me that's a good thing. I've been spoiled at other theaters, and I'm afraid that affects my review for this place. But not entirely. Please, read on... AMC Gulf Pointe 30 -- other than it's limited reclining seats and cheesy name is a fine movie-watching venue. (Why the 'e' on 'Pointe?' Did the British take over without my knowledge?) Popcorn was hot and fresh on our visit. Soda had plenty of fizz. Even the hot dogs were worthy. Concession folks were nice and efficient as well. The same cannot be said for the projection room people. Our movie was supposed to begin at 10:30. By 10:45, as the overhead lights continued to illuminate the theater, another frustrated customer walked in and alerted all of us that the movie would start in the next 10 to 15 minutes. I completely understand that stuff happens. I also understand that companies who value their customers have a tendency to communicate. Not that it's a deal-breaker, but the upstairs men's restroom also had the yellow plastic 'being cleaned' sign in front of the door for the duration of our visit. I scooted it aside anyway and found a bathroom that was clean. Obviously, someone wasn't paying too much attention. Perhaps they were busy developing a communication plan for the technical difficulties. read more

They are so terrible now. I've gone for years and it was soild in the past. But I called up on a Sunday 10/10 around 4:50pm or so. A male voice had a dull uncaring tone in his greeting and I could barely hear him as his face was too far from the phone. I politely asked him to move closer and he ignored me. When I told him I didn't want to complain I had only lost my AMC stubbs card and wanted a new one. He started acting like he could not hear me, (likely a passive agressive method to avoid helping.) I've also gone there and they ignore the stubbs line with no one working it as a priority per thier site and heard crew members cussing. The customer service has fallen off a cliff and the management or hiring staff is really not training or putting good people in there anymore. Please fix this and improve customer service. Lastly it's impossible to contact AMC directly, you have to use facebook and twitter. So I never did get a replacement card either. read more

I made this account for the sole purpose of writing this review. I've been to many movie theatres around Houston, but this is the worst one I've been to by far. I've been here multiple times and I've had some bad experiences, but I let them slide, until today. Today was the last straw. I went here with my dad for Father's Day to see John wick 3. It was probably the most action packed movie I've seen yet. I won't give any spoilers, but it was very good until it got completely ruined by the theatres surprisingly poor management. Completely out of nowhere, while sitting in the theatre, everything went black. It was black for a solid 2 minutes. In the theatre, we were all so confused. What had just just happened? In that two minutes everyone brought out their phone for the screen light to stand against the darkness. We, the customers, languages ourselves well. Even though we were all acting okay, our whole experience had been completely ruined. Couples on dates, daughters with their mothers, and sons with their fathers, like myself, and everyone in between sat there in the darkness with all of our trust in that theatre completely lost. While some stayed in the theatre until their patience ran out, other customers and myself, with my dad, sought a refund. While we all waited, angered by such betrayal, we all eased ourselves because the theatre simply HAD to do something to make up for what they did. But in the end, we were wrong. The staff tried to laugh it off with all of us. We weren't laughing. We wanted our money back. They didn't hold up to our wants. They had a security guard and a worker hand out "free guest passes" oh boy, because I sure do want to come here again. A guest pass? Really AMC? They simply gave a little smirk when we asked things along the lines of: "Where's our money that we gave to YOU. For a MOVIE." A guest pass won't hold up. If I don't feel like going to the trouble, I might end up actually using this piece of crap, but my business with them is done after that, and I hope everyone else's is too. Father's Day is over, and it's ruined by AMC. The staff didn't care. The theatre didn't care. Make the right decision and don't go to this theatre. read more

From all the times I've been here I have never had a dull moment dealing with staff. They are all so friendly and helpful specially MEGAN! She's always there when we need anything and always makes it enjoyable and is quick to deal with any issues ! Also I will say it feels extremely hot in the main area specially in the kitchen area where you pay for food, something needs to be done about that ASAP, these workers deserve some AC with how nice and helpful they all are ! This AMC IS THE BEST AMC in HOUSTON! Definitely my favorite and that's coming from someone who watches movies every week ! read more

Happy National Cinema Day... remember if you had the 1-3pm movie block at AMC on September 3rd, to go get your refund for your tickets. Don't let them get away with taking your money for movies you didn't get to see. The power went out (I get it, forces of nature and all...) BUT... that's not an excuse to just lock people out of the building in potential rain while you "reset the movie projectors". This isn't Disneyland, it's lot like you're loosing the "magic of cinema" if you allow ppl to wait in the theaters or anything. And another thing... just telling people "you can request a new movie time" only works if there are available seats in the next time slot, which for many, was ZERO. Had a pretty bad day, didn't get to see the movie we wanted and we went home. Good thing streaming services like HBO exist. I've been going to this theater since it opened, and I've watched its gradual decline. The prices keep going up and up and what is the value we are getting for those extra dollars? Slow lines at concession, employees that look like they don't want to be there. The only reason I'm rating this cinema 2 stars because it was fast getting our tickets online and we didn't have to wait in line... that was good ! Butttttt I payed for a 7 o'clock movie showing it' was past 7 o'clock and the screen was not even on or showing previews The movie started after 8:30 plus previews. Went there Saturday, 7/9/22, worst time at the movies I've ever experienced. The a/c was out in the theater, they knew it wasn't working but chose not to close it down. Things break down, that's understandable, but what isn't acceptable is taking someone's money and pretending the problem doesn't exist unless they complain! That's despicable! When temps are surpassing 104° outside, the damn a/c better work or you're providing a miserable experience. I'll never patronize this place again. Not my favorite movie theater but it is my daughters. For some reason she prefers this one to studio movie grill. My boys and I disagree. It is the most convenient as it's the closest to our home. You will always find the movie you want to see, and there is so many options you will rarely get a bad seat unless its a recent release. My favorite part is that the arm rests move out of the way, a perk not even my favorite theater has. They have improved, as you no longer have to go back to the register for refills. There is a bigger variety than before with the touch screen new drink dispensers. Even the Icee is out there for you to fill your cup. For us alchy's they have a bar too! AMC has their own version, but Movie pass is the best! read more

Came here on Christmas Eve because I saw that a fellow yelper went into another theater so many miles away and I thought that it was pretty neat that the theaters were open on Christmas Eve when everybody else was closing down early for obvious reasons. We arrived in already gloomy settings with a very cold, wet, varietal sunk in water puddled parking lot that seemed to have a lot of dark places with the already seemingly dim lighting. I parked almost in the middle of the parking lot away from the water lakes and dark casting trees (I'm sure they're a godsend in the summer heat) and braved the colds all the way to the counter. It is pretty scary around here, where is "security"? Strike 1) "Son, please go inside and see if they have one of those kiosk that we can pay just like we have near home". Son went in, came out a minute later "nope", ok we'll stand in this shivering rainy cold for 15 minutes while the people in front of us can will stand there and ask 101 questions about a movie that they might have wanted to look into or at least previews on their phones like us up to date people did. Not a chance, I think we stumbled upon a region where people didn't remember to to a "search" for a trailer on you tube like we did on their smartphone. No kiosk to pay inside and be warm like home had, strike 2. Finally got inside, 8:45pm, yay we're going to see Sherlock Holmes 2, walked into #12 to where the nice little lady directed us, it was already playing 15 minutes into the movie wuh!??? Came back out fuming realizing that the guy at the window sold us two tickets to a movie that had already started I mean come on now I didn't think to tell him the next available showing but he didn't exactly ask me if I wanted the 8:20 or the 9:20 pm showing, dur, yes I love walking in an already playing movie that already has ALL of the seats taken, Strike 3. Got back out and expressed my concerns to the little lady about what happened and that I meant that I wanted to see the NEXT available Sherlock Holmes that hasn't started already, she directs me to #21 on the other side, fine, no problem. 9:15 starts to roll around and I know that usually about 15 minutes before most movie starts they start rolling out the upcoming movie reviews and sponsored advertisements but at this time I was getting a little nervous. 9:20 I send my son out to ask to tell the people that nothing not even the previews to pass the time has started yet, son comes back and the guy tells my son that it starts at 9:20, dur, it IS 9:20!. 9:35, nothing, we were the only two people in there so we walk out and ask the service guy that had his back turned for about 40 seconds shooting the breeze and ask for my money back. I got it back and exited noting that there were two "security" hired HPD officers in the front huddled by the door, uh, is this why I have read in the reviews why people have been getting their cars broken into? Strike 4 we are definitely out of here! I'm staying in my area where there is a kiosk inside, pretty well lighted parking and a rover patrol running around the parking lot and the arm seats don't smell like somebody wiped their boody up and down it. I don't know about you, but this movie theater used to be the place to go to find boys. I'm guilty I was always there lurking to find myself a cute boy to date or adore his cute face with my geeked up self. The theater definitely wasn't what it is now. Everything was basic; they didn't serve alcohol, didn't have a curfew, real food, and wasn't strict. It was very simple. They served just popcorn, drinks, and snacks. This was about 17 years ago I'm talking. Now, everything and everybody is so complicated and all wanna be modern and sensitive. I'm not sure if the world is improving or declining. People getting shot and killed at movies; it's just not worth dying over. I know for a fact that this theater is going down hill. The ticket prices are sky high, the theaters aren't clean enough, and way too many young kids trying to throw hype. The location is good just off the beltway 8 read more

Completely incompetently run. The light to the exit door at the front was supposed to be turned off and it stayed on the entire show right next to the screen which was so bright it was very distracting! Why doesn't AMC have doors there? The movie-going audience is ridiculous these days too; the people in front of us were constantly taking out their phones and the people behind kept kicking my seat. And they wonder why movie attendance has dropped so much. Turn off the lights during the show and have ushers in the theaters available to do something about other disruptive movie-goers. I love this theater. 30 screens with some of them being Digital IMAX and Digital IMAX 3D. Stadium seating and large theaters with comfortable seats with fold-down arm rests, make the viewing experience great. Another plus about this theater are late showing times. While most other theaters in the area show their last movie around 10pm, AMC 30 has late night showings that begin at 12:55am! They also show a number of independent and foreign films (including some Spanish-language films). While a lot of the reviewers here complained about teens and kids, what movie theater isn't "crawling" with them? At least this theater has late night showings which occur after the teenagers' curfew has passed. AMC Gulf Pointe 30 isn't the cleanest theater -- but it isn't any worse than the Cinemark or Premier theaters in the area. All-in-all this is probably my favorite theater to go to in the Southeast Houston/Clear Lake area. read more

Have been to the theater many times. Like the drink kiosk which makes the lines move a bit faster. It's always best to go to the first show of the day. Tickets are slightly reduced, but not by much. I will say the price of tickets for children under 6 is a bit much. The prices for refreshments is outrageous!! Unfortunately, I am the type that likes to have a coke and popcorn when watching a movie. Beware of the boxes for the kids drink/popcorn because the bottom has a tendency to drop out!!! Try and use the facilities prior to coming here. Each time we have come the bathrooms are horrendous!! I now carry my own toilet seat covers, just in case. And when informing an employee of the bathroom situation, you get no where because they don't care. So my suggestion is if you are coming here, go to the first showing. read more

This theater has definitely gone downhill since my childhood. It's used to be one of the better theaters in the area. The last few times I came here, the theater has been toasty and made for a very uncomfortable experience. We all know prices are ridiculous, but that's pretty much across the board, no matter what theater it is. The one thing about AMC as a company that I like, is the Stubs card. Yes there's a membership fee, but for a family of 4 like myself, it pays itself off quickly. We will just have to make the drive to the Sugarland location to enjoy a better atmosphere next time. read more

For an AMC theater with 30 screens (some of which are IMAX screens) and a full bar, this place fell flat. I have a feeling it has a lot to do with the location. I went here with my coworker after work on Friday afternoon. Keep in mind this was around July 4th so kids are out of school and more people were there then would have been on a Friday afternoon. If you have the patience to stand in multiple lines then this is your place. If not, then I suggest you go see a movie somewhere else. We stood in line for about 5 minutes to purchase a ticket (This is around 3:45 on a Friday). I noticed the kiosks for people who purchased tickets online, but they did not all seem to be working. The ticket booth could have used another employee to help the line move a little faster. When we first walked in, it looked nice. The bar is right near the entrance so that caught my attention. The bar is not large at all and there is only one bartender, so I didn't even attempt to order a drink. The lines for the concessions were out of control. They did not have all of the registers open (problem one) and they did not have one of the smaller concession stands open near the theater that my movie was in (problem two). I feel like the employees were not trying to hustle to get the line to move. I stood in line for 5 minutes and moved up one step. Myself and a lady behind me left. I got back into the theater in time right as the movie was starting, but had I waited, I would have for sure missed at least 20 minutes of the movie. Walking to the theater, I noticed all the kids running around. I had to dodge a couple of them and their parents were no where to be seen (though I have a feeling they were at the bar). They have video games lined up and down the walkway which creates more congestion and slows down the flow of traffic. I think they should reconsider the design of that. As for the theater, the floor was sticky right when we walked in (gross). Seating is nice, but our seats did not recline. I don't know if it was just the seats that we selected, but I wanted to recline back, so I was disappointed in that. I feel like the sound was a little low in the movie and could have been turned up (however in their defense, I think I'm starting to lose my hearing so it was probably appropriate and I just need to invest in a hearing aid).
