A genuinely enjoyable movie experience. The theater is well-maintained, clean, and offers a very comfortable atmosphere throughout. Parking is easy and stress-free, which makes the whole outing that much more convenient, especially for a quick, spontaneous visit. My only thing, the food options lean heavily toward indulgent, high calorie choices. For a Thursday afternoon, this was very nice to see a movie here! Easy garage drive up to the 3rd floor for the direct access to AMC. Easy in. Once inside, it was happily empty and good thing was not hungry or thirsty as I didnt notice concessions open. No worries. Sat at our assigned seats and hopped right into the movie. The theater was sparsely populated with movie watchers. Maybe 10 people? Nice to not have others spread germs, no need for wearing a mask. Great Top Gun movie in large IMAX screen. Very nice. Afterward validating parking is still a perk at this theater and then going outside to scan and pay (one Paystation was malfunctioning not accepting credit cards). Then we left. This place is always my go to for IMAX and Dolby but getting here through Sunset Dr or Red Road or US1 does take patience. read more

This AMC remains a busy spot in the empty Sunset Place. I wish the revitalization efforts were successful but AMC remains a staple in the South Miami community. I've watched plenty of films here throughout decades but recently visited the theater again and it's still holding up well. Theaters are clean, staff are friendly, lots of drink and food options. The chairs are comfortable, the sound system is great, as are the screens. Would definitely come back again soon! read more

Went here for a movie premiere of Regretting You and it went great. Felt like the theater can use some upgrading with certain seating but besides that it was very clean and kept up. Employees were very helpful when ordering popcorn and a drink . Assisted with directing where the screening would be and how to access it. Had a great time and movie was amazing. read more

This is a great movie theater for a date night or a girls' night out. Parking is easily accessible but the trek to the theater is fine if you need to get your steps in. I don't go to the movies that often but I got tickets through a friend so it was a great incentive to stop by this theater. I had not been to Sunset place in a long time so was a little surprised that most stores and restaurants have closed down! The mall used to be full during the weekends but I was there on a Saturday and it was almost empty (which was great for finding parking) The theater is located on the 3rd floor, easy to find once you are at the mall. I enjoyed my time there, seats were spacious, not too crowded, clean restrooms and good movie selection. Sad to see the sunset place mall gone but it sounds like they will be bringing more retail opportunities probably on top of hotel/residences. read more

AMC Sunset Place is one of the few movie theaters still around from my youth. Been going there forever and never had a bad experience. Their slushie and soda machines are self serve so its basically unlimited until you either leave or the sugar monster gets you. The theater offers IMAX both regular and 3D which is always the best viewing experience in my opinion. Parking is validated but you still end up paying about 8 to 9 bucks which is not great but it's standard. It's a solid option when choosing a theater to catch a movie. read more

Theater screen was a decent size for a normal theater, the seats were comfortable, the audio was great and it was clean overall a great experience thank you for renewing my faith in movie theaters after my last horrible experience at the regal in Kendall I almost gave up on going out to watch at movie theaters in general. Guess it makes a difference on who runs the movie theater and AMC theaters treated me right and I look forward to my next visit at this location or one of the many others since it is only a matter of time until Sunset place is no more. read more

It had been a while since I'd gone to the Sunset Place Theater, and I was pleasantly surprised... I think it may have had a renewal of some sort: the seating is nice, the audio is terrific, the image is crisp... and it is surprisingly clean for a movie theater... The staff is helpful, the snack stand... well, the snack stand is as in every movie theater now: expensive for what it is, but also gets cut to a reasonable price if you join the loyalty club and go by its offers, so that works well. It is a pity that the Sunset Place Mall is basically a ghost town, but all around the area there are more than enough places to make a night out of it, so just grab dinner anywhere else, and head back to your choice of pop-corn movie. I am so impressed with this cinema. Super clean, lots of employees to make things move fast and they are helpful. We went as a spur of the moment and were not disappointed. They have lots of rooms and bathrooms were clean. We went to see mission impossible in the imax room, and it was great. Good seating, and awesome sound. The tickets are cheaper, which we were surprised, and they validate a bit of the parking garage fare, which is great. We will definitely be back! read more

Still a good movie spot and don't forget to get your parking validated if you park in the garage. Seating is still comfortable but I prefer all the movies to make the screens in that new IMAX or 4DX screens. We pay enough. They still have games in the lobby to kill time before or after your movie and be prepared to spend at least $30 and up on snacks. They do have more variety of hot foods now like chicken sandwiches and tenders and even candy and drinks but I still like a good hotdog and a soda. You can purchase tickets online or at a machine at the theater or old school wait in line. Still love going to the movies and having that whole experience. read more

Went to see Depeche Mode concert on the big screen. Movie was great, but the seats in the IMAX (Theatre #22) were filthy. And when I say filthy, I actually mean disgusting. We used our phone flashlight to find our assigned seats and the light revealed dirt and stains from food and drinks. The Depeche Mode movie was for one night, so we stayed. Any other movie I would have left and asked for a refund. read more

We Grabbed wraps from Rice for an evening dinner before our movie date at Sunset Place. Garage Parking was easy, for a Saturday night- the staff at the AMC were kind and courteous, seats were comfy and the entire space smelled and looked clean. Dune part two was awesome on its own but the experience at this movie theater captured anither repeat customer. read more

It's soooooooooooooo hot. It's unbearable and too uncomfortable to even enjoy the movie. Feels like there's no air/circulation at all.

I've been coming to this theater for a while and the staff is usually nice. Today was different. The Hispanic guy who was called to cover the bar for just a minute had a really bad attitude. He's not usually at the bar, but he was checking ID for me for wine and had an attitude. I get that you have to check IDs, but don't be rude about it. I look young, I get it. Still not an excuse. If you're having a bad day, that's okay - everyone does - but please don't take it out on customers, especially the loyal ones. If you can't be nice, you shouldn't work with the public. I work with the public too, and I know how hard it can be. But when I have bad days, I don't take them out on customers. I leave my problems at home where they belong. He also seemed like he was rushing to get me out of there, which made the whole experience even worse. I'm only mentioning this so management can give him some extra training he may even be part of management - he might not realize how he's coming across. The other Hispanic staff member is always nice, and so is the black bartender. I just want this guy to be nicer to the customers no need to come off aggressive. I only mention this so it doesn't happen to others. ...This really bothered me today as a good customer. It even ruined my movie experience - I was too upset to focus on the film. Next time I go and If the black bartender or the other Hispanic guy aren't working, I won't even bother asking for a drink - it's not worth the attitude. read more

I came here to see a screening of Ant Man and the Wasp Quantumania and it was a great movie but the ac was not kicking in. It wasn't boiling hot but the air was stale and it was gross. Thankful for the opportunity to see an IMAX film complimentary but I think if you're going to continue doing screenings there, then make it pleasurable. I do like that they have a bar where they are serving beer on the tap and cocktails if you like to sip on that while watching movies. The main concession stand was open but I wasn't too sure I wanted to buy any snacks given the condition of the theatre. A perk is that they validate parking. Sunset place is a ghost town. Last time I came here was pre-COVID, my partner and I watched Tenet which was a very good movie! There is hand sanitizer everywhere, and when ordering food they have glass screens between you and the staff. They all wear gloves and masks which is great! There is also hand sanitizing wipes at every entrance of the movies, to disinfect seats and the door handle which I found a great idea! Movies are discounted right now and we saw a movie for $10! They have a drinks and popcorn for $5 each as well. When watching the movie in the theater we were in it was us and a family of four all the way in the front and we sat in the back. Social distancing is strongly enforced. I think AMC is doing an amazing job with the COVID Guild-lines just hope they stay open and can survive it was very dead for a Saturday night. read more

I came here to see the Barbie movie and had an ok experience. It was a week after the movie premiered, but the theater was still absolutely packed with people. The concessions line was long, but it moved at a decent pace. I have been going to AMC Sunset Place for more than twenty years. This place bring me a lot of nostalgia of my teenage years being one of my to go hangouts with friends. Now after all these years it still one of my favorite movie theaters. With 24 different screens there never a shortage of movies to watch. Over the years the theater has seen several upgrades such as new food items in concessions and even a bar, although due to they still have room for more upgrades.The seats are stadiums seating and they were one of the first to do so in Miami. Absolutely disgusting. I have never been to a movie theater so gross. The seats are filthy, it smells like a combination of mold, butter, and gym socks, and the nachos were so salty they were inedible. I didn't think a movie theater this filthy could possibly exist in a decent area. I would've turned around and left if my boyfriend wasn't dying to see this movie. Never again. Saw a movie at Sunset Place this week. At the concession stand I ordered a soda with popcorn. The popcorn was delicious as is. Soda wise, I wanted a cherry coke zero. In my first attempt to fill my cup what came out of the soda machine tasted nothing like it. Second attempt was successful. During the movie itself, we could hear clear voices and discussion coming from the theatre next door... which did kill the vibe a bit. read more

This theatre used to be top notch.... About 20 or so years ago. Now it's just old and run down and in need of a major face lift. They did it with the Dolby theatre already, but the rest of the theaters need the same treatment. Not to mention they have a major A/C issue. I was sweating along with the rest of the audience from how hot it was in the theatre. Just go to another AMC if you want to watch a movie comfortably. If you happen to end up here though, just make sure it's the Dolby theatre since it's the only one that's been refurbished and has reclining seats. The customer service is decent and the bar is a nice touch also. That combo along with the Dolby theatre is the reason I'm giving it 3 stars. read more

I rarely go to the movies, and I'm pretty local to my theatre in the Gables but I was so pleasantly surprised with Sunset Place recently. Of course, I spent the majority of my high school years doing loser laps and watching movies in Sunset Place but this spot has come a long way since the 2000s. My friend and I opted for one of the dolby cinema experiences and it was super great. Apparently it has better color, better sound, all that jazz but also most importantly various levels of comfort in their reclining seats. The theatre was clean, the seats were spacious and the movie quality was actually ridiculous. We also noticed there is now a bar in the this movie theatre. What a great upgrade. Love this new movie journey for me that includes reclining seats and high-def video quality. read more
