Please bear with me! This review is long! I needed to get out of the house now that the outside temps were a little "cooler". I went to AMC Valley Bend to see Minions & Monsters and Toy Story 5 on Wed., July 8. The employees were all very nice and professional! I expressed a desire to see both movies and they were both in theatres next to each other and the timing of the ending of the first movie to the beginning of the second movie was close! I purchased tickets to both movies as well as a beverage and pretzels. I enjoyed the first movie, which started at 1:00 pm and went next door to see Toy Story 5 next. The previews were being shown when Hannah, a young lady who provided great info at the ticket counter, found me and asked if I had purchased a large popcorn. I said "no" and thanked her because she was going to offer to get me a popcorn refill to save me time so I wouldn't miss the beginning of Toy Story 5! That was very kind of her, esp. since I have an injured left leg and the theatre Toy Story 5 was being shown in was at the far end of the theatre! After the movie, I spoke with Tyler, another great employee, to see if Hannah was available, but she wasn't. I wanted to give her a big hug and thank her for her kindness! She really made my day! I liked this movie theater! Sister and I saw The Chosen Season Five, The Last Supper episodes 3, 4, and 5 on Saturday. Like Ashley S. noted, the theater seats do not recline; however, that's not a deal breaker for me. The movie's sound and video quality were great! The theater (#17) was not overly crowded and not under lighted. They have a concession stand with a lot of options in the main entrance. The restrooms are clean and they had a few video games just off the main entrance. We went to a 1:00 showing and the place was packed out with families and yutes who were likely seeing Minecraft. The staff were all courteous and friendly and parking is ample. Why no 5th star? Unlike the movie theater in Madison, Cineplanet, there were no staff cleaning up/picking up the trash in the theater after the movie and the grounds around the entrance were kind of nasty with carry out food containers full of gross looking food laying around the shrubs along with other trash which was pretty yucky. read more

Apart from the theatre itself being run down and not clean, my main grievance tonight is NO FOOD? We were given a food voucher with our ticket - $40 worth to spend. So we decided w will eat dinner here. Stood in line for over 15 min, started to order pizza, hot dogs, etc when the worker tells us they have no food tonight only popcorn and nachos. Why have a huge menu and no food??? No sign, no warning. Guess we should have brought our own food. read more

IMAX handrails were sticky, floors were sticky all the way across (as if they smeared it like a wax), our seats were missing a cupholder (It broke off I guess). This is a nice looking theater but they do not maintain it and it desperately needs an update. For example, this is a very rich neighborhood in Huntsville and their IMAX theater doesn't have Dolby Atmos. read more

Went to see Moana 2 with family while in town. We chose the standard theater given that most of the seats and time slots packed with excited movie watchers. We were in theater 2 and it is just a theater no extra perks. No recliner chairs no tables just rocker chairs and cup holders. Assuming it is to maximize the space. Well it got the job done. I would take kids back for a new movie but for something for adults I like concert so I would t chose the standard theater. All of the concession lines were long which was to be expected the day after thanksgiving mid day. The attendants were patient with the kids and handled the Caos well. read more

Very old. Very dirty. It's a shame as it's so close to my home but with movie and concession prices being what they are, I drive 20 minutes away to see a movie. Please step up your game! I would love to attend a movie here a couple times a month. read more

Horrible service! Stay away from the "arcade" area. I got some tokens to spend time with my daughter in there. Found out pretty quickly that the tokens only work for the to. Claw machines that are rigged. Tried to cash the tokens back in for cash and the general manager said they "don't have anything for them". As in, no money? No way! Anyhow, screw this establishment. Theater very hot. Asked for air none came. Very expensive even for matine. Pay alot for tickets to be hot and buy overpriced popcorn and drink. Bathrooms stink so bad hard to go in. Change out the mop and mop water and put some sanitizer in. Put some sanitizer cakes in urinals. read more

This theater doesn't have recliners, but they still do reserved seating. They have 2 kiosks when you walk in. We came to an 1145 matinee and the parking lot was empty so at first we didn't think it was open. No one was in our theater, which was kind of nice. We didn't get anything at the concessions, but they had the drink machines with a million flavors and a popcorn butter station. They have a frequent flyer club too. I haven't signed up yet. The bathrooms were clean but one bathroom was completely out of soap. read more

It's not bad but it is a bit out of Huntsville proper. It's not old but the seats are not the new reclining style that I prefer. Legroom is decent and the stadium layout means you don't have to view the movie through the back of the people in front of you. Having visited this theater countless times over the last 15 years (beginning in the Rave days), it's evident that the utter collapse in quality here mirrors the broader decline in cinema over the same period. A single, congested concession stand makes for a chaotic entrance, one already littered with popcorn residue and trash that stretches up both wings of the venue. We were fortunate that our theater during our most recent visit was sparsely populated, yet the complete lack of basic maintenance (including half-eaten food left in our cup holder) coupled with an oddly placed foldable plastic table resting in the center of the theater made for a sad evening. The restrooms similarly were littered with paper towels on the floor and likely hadn't been refreshed since that morning. If I had to characterize how this all felt, imagine a depressed Walmart AI platform was responsible for engineering a movie theater with utter despair being the only constraint. As this is the only theater in the Jones Valley area, I'm sure I'll be back at a certain point. Rest assured, however, it won't be with the same excitement that I felt coming here over the years. Trashy venue accompanied by what I assume to be equally garbage management. The area deserves better. read more

I genuinely don't understand how this place stays in business. We usually go to Monaco at Bridge Street; however, my son wanted to go see an IMAX movie. So, we agreed. First of all, the seats are circa 1995 - with no ability to recline. I didn't even know that those kind of seats still existed. Secondly, our group of four purchased 2 bottled waters, an Icee and a small soft drink, plus the "regular" sized popcorn (the smallest that they had), and the bill was $37. I asked how much the bottled waters cost and they were over $6. That is highway robbery. You can expect to pay $6 for a bottled water at an NFL football game ... but at a movie theater? The funny thing is - NOBODY was working at the entire theater except the concessions. This place was a total ghost town. Nobody asked to see our tickets, and no employees were anywhere. Overall - this place was the equivalent of the ancient ruins of a movie theater - the kind you'd see in a futuristic armageddon-apocalypse-style movie where there are only a handful of humans still alive on the planet. I DO NOT RECOMMEND the AMC Valley Bend 18, and I predict that they will close this establishment before the end of 2025. Bridge Street's Monaco isn't the greatest movie theater, but if you live on the side of town near the AMC Valley Bend, it might s definitely worth your time to drive to Bridge Street. read more

previews were unbelievably loud, to the point of pain. but the restrooms were awful. mens room was a total mess and no paper towels when we went in before the movie. I went back about an hour and 15 minutes later....still no paper towels and way more mess on the floor. went back in after the movie, and apparently a frustrated movie-goer had broken open one of the paper towel dispensers to get to the towels inside. just awful. read more

They haven't gotten with the times and made more comfortable chairs. Also, the A-List is kind of a scam because it's uses fancy wording to confuse you. Also a bad experience to share about this location and AMC in general. I was working and my wife (MY WIFE) wanted to see a movie so I booked it with my A-List and when she got there she was looking for which theatre and asked where and instead of just telling my wife who had already come in with a ticket, asked to see her id. Then she proceeded to say you are not the person whose ticket this is and told her she would have to cancel it and my wife would have to purchase a ticket. My wife reluctantly accepted this and she forked over even more money to this stupid business. She then proceeded to her theatre that had zero other people in it and watched a movie by herself. Ridiculous! Finally, you may say to yourself, why haven't you just canceled? Well when I realized that I can't use one of my three for my wife and I to see the same movie then I tried to cancel and go back to Cinemark. (Who for the record, is better in every way from the subscription to the theatre to the service.) However, they said that I was locked in for 3 months and would have to pay 40 dollars for canceling early. I guess it just makes me the idiot for not reading all the fine print when I heard about this cool deal which turned into a nightmare. read more

This location was awful, extremely overpriced comparatively to other locations. There were roaches in the arcade area where your kids play. Popcorn buckets left on the counter for hours, so that when you arrive and receive your 26$ drink and 19$ popcorn there's been flys all over it. Then you get to enjoy the 20 year old seats in the theater. Would not recommend. read more

Went to a 4pm show and the theater was completely trashed. Every single trash can was overfilled to the point of spilling all over the ground outside and the floor inside. The theater floor was covered in garbage and clearly hadn't been cleaned all day. It was like watching a movie from inside a dumpster. None of the ticket kiosks worked, and we could have walked straight into the theater with no tickets because there was no ticket checker. The line for snacks was 20 minutes long, and the soda machine only had three flavors. Miserable experience, and this theater has continued to be a dumpster fire yet again. Go to Bridge Street because this is a ghetto theater. read more

This is by far the nastiest movie theater I have ever sat in! Bathrooms were discussing with piss all over the floor, snot covering the walls and trash cans over flowing to the ground. Popcorn littered the inside and out side of the building. The seating in the IMAX theater was less than satisfactory, the movie was over 30 minutes late starting and it took over an hour into the movie for them to shut the lights off in the theater. They did not have hardly anything in the concession but popcorn and some soda. No butter or nothing. Horrible experience and will not be returning to this theater. read more

If you're looking to catch a free movie and hit up an unstocked concession stand, AMC Valley Bend 18 is the perfect cinematic destination for you. Upon arrival, there were no workers in the box office or at the door. It felt eerie for nobody to hospitably greet each audience member as they arrive to the lobby. We ordered our tickets in advance using the AMC app; however, nobody asked to see our app and nobody was checking tickets. Not only did this seem like a poor choice financially, it also did not seem safe giving the fact people were walking straight from the street to the auditoriums. We decided we wanted concessions, leaving us to wait 15 minutes in line for stale popcorn, and drug store candy. The lady behind me asked if I knew how long previews would be because she was worried they would be late. Their candy selection was minimal and bare, and they did not sell any large movie theatre boxes. Most of the refreshments on their menu were out of stock, and the poor workers seemed exhausted. We drove an hour to see the movie tonight since our AMC is smaller; however this venue was clearly run down, mis-managed, and lacked the charm of a bustling theatre! P.S. next time, skip the AMC ticket app and just walk in. read more

Went yesterday, on a Saturday, at 4:00. Concession line was super long. Then, they ran out of popped popcorn which for a long-standing movie theater should know what to expect with long lines. Do better Valley Bend. It is very frustrating to wait that long only to be told it would be another 20 minutes for popcorn. You had one job. read more

The seats are very uncomfortable and I would be fine with that if I didn't spend the same price I would going to Monaco on bridge street with nice reclining chairs. First, this is the most expensive moviegoing experience in Huntsville AL and the worst quality. If you don't arrive 30 minutes before the advertisements for your movie, you won't have time to get any concessions from the slowest staff this side of the DMV. 2 of 4 drink machines out of ICE. The barrier to screen tickets prevented any orderly queue to get drinks. Serve-yourself drink area is filthy as always, and has 1 square foot of space to manage your drink and popcorn barrels while trying to get a lid and straw. Trash cans were overflowing. We only went there because the good theater (cinemark bridge street) was fully-booked. At least this time the screen was in focus (was not for a waste of Oppenheimer and a couple other movies). Popcorn at 7:30 p.m. was STALE. Seats are all plastic and make loud squeaking and popping noise in response to the movement of your lungs. AMC is the Charter, Verizon and Comcast/universal/abc/espn/disney of not even trying at customer service. I vowed I would never go back to this dump and shame on me for doing it again. Apes together strong! I've been going here for years and it's always been a nice experience. With the world opening back up I want to take my son here so he can experience a movie on a giant screen with popcorn like I did growing up. I love the movies and he does too. Keep this alive for the future families and their experience. A couch is nice for streaming but nothing compares to a real move theater experience. read more

It is pretty clear that AMC management doesn't read comments. This isn't my first review if this theater. Today I went to see my first movie since COVID-19 and the closing of the theaters. During the closing, one would think that the closing would have been the best time to make repairs to the theater seats and bathrooms. Disappointed to say that that didn't happen. This theater located in a good part of town used to be a nice theater before AMC took over. I going to cancellation my stub hub membership and start going other theaters. read more

Well, this is a mixed review... It's a nice theatre for sure! Let's get that out if the way. Very modern and clean. I went there to geek out on the battle of the five armies in Imax 3d... That's not an IMAX screen I'm sorry to inform you guys. You just can't "curve" a screen and slap IMAX on it and call it a day. If you want something close to IMAX, go to the space and rocket center, it's the closet you guys are gonna get here in north Alabama apparently. But seriously, it's a good theater and I'd go again, just not shelling out IMAX money for a bigger screen. True IMAX is so big, it's like watching a movie in your brain. read more

Re AMC 18, Huntsville. One of the most important services a multi-screen theater can offer is directions. What a great place this theater used to be. The well lit marquises let folks know where their movie was playing, and which specific theater you were looking for. Then, for some unexplained reason, Corporate AMC (according to the third staff person I asked) decided to simply turn them off. Why? ...And why not inform your clientele, as if the people who spend fortunes to see movies at your theaters actually matter to you? ...There always used to be someone at front to help with directions to buy tickets, someone at each wing to check/take tickets and tell where your screen is located. This comforted guests, knowing where to go. And it reduced number of people sneaking into the theater. NOW, HOWEVER, the lit marquises are dark. Turned off. And no one was at front when I entered. I could have watched a movie (or movies) for free. One of the drink dispensers didn't work and the drink area was a dirty mess. Staff seemed confused about why marquises were turned off, suggesting that the theater was simply "running down." For corporate: If you care, let us (and your staff!) know what you are doing to make this the best experience possible for movie-goers. How about, "pardon our mess while we improve your movie experience." Then we'd know you care. read more

Where do I even begin? First and foremost, as a dad, the only way I get to see a guy movie is to go after the kids go to bed. Since AMC took over this location this year, the latest showtime is around seven. Nice. Someone told me that AMC is owned by the Chinese (I checked and it is true) so maybe that explains it - I'm at a loss on that one. So with convenience being huge for me theatre experiences are now relegated to Cars 3 and Lego movies. Such a shame. This place used to be "The Rave". It was great. Then it became Carmike. Prices went up, you had to serve your own drinks, but still no complaints from me. The popcorn wasn't as good but it was fine. Now the popcorn is not good at all. I convince myself every time to give it a try but I usually now just get the small size for the experience. The coke machines are normally broken. They are sticky and gross. The bathrooms used to be spotless but now they can often be downright gross. The price has gone up, of course... the price always goes up... LOL. The commercials are longer than ever. I think there are now commercials before the screen gets bigger for even more commercials. Ok... that part always makes me laugh. They essentially managed to steal away that kid-like excitement of the screen getting bigger. The staff seems to have gone from Chic-fil-A quality to McDonalds quality, if that makes since. For example, now when you buy a ticket, they don't tell you which side to go to and theatre number. Nope, you need to figure it out with your hands full. I'm looking forward to Apple negotiating getting new movies in the home two weeks after release so I can see my guy movies for a small premium. read more

Been going to this theater since it opened as the "Rave" theater. After many ownership changes, I'm glad to see it is settled as an AMC theater right now. I've been to this place as an AMC theater at least 10 times and have had pretty average to good experiences every single time. The theaters themselves are nice and large. I've never had an issue with the viewing experience at all! The staff are where this place loses a star. Many times, staff are very nice and attentive to me as I stand in line waiting. But at least a few times, I felt like I was talking to someone who was a little annoyed I was there at all. (Popcorns alright too, but can be hit or miss. I only buy if it looks fresh). Price wise, not the cheapest theater for a college student around. But, it is the most convenient one around for me. read more

Do you have to wait in line 30 minutes to get any type of refreshment or food you arrive 15-20 minutes early to get your ticket and hopefully get settled in but instead you're sitting there waiting in line for 30 minutes I would not recommend this place it's filthy it's a dirty you walk in your feet are sticking to the floor if you look up above where they're popping a popcorn and there's some cleaning that's seriously needs to go on I would write this as an F and failure read more

All the screens are crooked and look worn down and everything you see from when you first walk in to when you take your seat is nasty. The bathrooms are a relic at this point and are always filthy. If this theatre didn't get smaller indie films, I'd have no reason to go back but I always regret going anyway. read more

The screens have been too dark for two movies I've seen there--Star Wars and Parasite. This is the only theater I've ever felt this way about. I watched Parasite again at home with a brighter screen and found it much more enjoyable. read more
