We went and saw wicked for good at the theater this afternoon. We are in town from Pennsylvania and had not been to a movie downtown in a long time. We lived here many years ago. We got popcorn, which was wonderful and loved being able to get as much butter as we wanted. The movie was great, the seats were great and we would recommend it to other folks as well. Took mom (in a wheelchair) and dad to see Good Fortune. It was the first time using an app to purchase the tickets. Lauren was so helpful with this over the phone. I got to meet the manager on the way out and he was also very pleasant and helpful with other questions I had about using the app. Lobby, food court and the theater were very clean (as will as the ladies room). Rodney is amazing and he helped us carry our food and drinks all the way to our seats. We got free refills on popcorn and drinks ...plus free parking at the garage across the street! Such a nice family experience! I'm excited to go back the next time mom is up for an outing! Very pleasant and comfortable environment! (I wish I had thought to take a few photos.) read more

Every time I go to this theater the audio starts and the video doesn't work. Pre movie advertising, previews, and the actual movie are audio-only until someone gets up to complain. It's so frustrating. read more

Great theatre. It's convenient to get to and they validate 3 hours of parking in the garage next door. Better seating than most in the area but I wish they had some recliners. Can't really speak to concessions as I've never ordered any. I'm somewhat disappointed in their "Bid D" theatre. I thought the screen would be huge with premium seating, but it was basically just a regular IMAX screen with IMAX quality sound. The theatre itself is bigger, but that's it. The IMAX at the aquarium is actually better. It's definitely a better theatre than the one on South Terrace, though that's my 2nd choice, and way better than Fort O, which is less than 5 minutes from me. I'd rather drive a bit for a better quality movie experience. I'll definitely be back. read more

Make this review the demand theater repairs button! AMC likes to have a downtown location basically as an advertising presence because of all the foot traffic but there are very little resources allocated to up-keeping the equipment. Example, I had about 35 people come to the opening weekend of a major release movie that I directed and the sound was absolutely horrendous. This is not a filmmaker being picky, the speakers were objectively busted. Every second was painful because I knew all these people had paid money but weren't really experiencing the real movie. I talked to the manger, Logan, who is a nice guy and he basically told me "My hands are tied. We know we need repairs but don't have the funding to do it." What AMC should understand is that when the theater sucks, it doesn't just hurt that one location, it breaks trusts with all AMC theaters. Can we please spam AMC higher management until they fix this and make downtown 12 MAJESTIC again. read more

I decided that being an A-lister was worth my cash. $22 bucks per month and I can watch 3 movies per week at nearly any AMC theater sounds like a win to me! I decided to try out my new membership at this theater. I booked seats for my beau and I using the entourage feature in the app. We opted to check out Bad Boys for Life at 9:15 on a Friday night. This theater is located downtown in close prominently to the aquarium. They validate parking in the garage across the street from the theater. Bring your ticket inside and the staff will stamp it for free parking. When we walked into this theater I was surprised that there were no guests! It's Friday night, where is everyone at? There was no staff at the entrance. All business was handled at the concession stand. Interesting for such a large size theater. Our A list ticket were scanned and exchanged for paper tickets to the theater. Our parking ticket was also validated at this time. Our move was in theater five. When we walked in there were no other patrons. By the end of the movie I think there was a total of 7 guests, including us in that count. The theater is in need of serious repair and upgrades. I was not impressed with the chairs. They just don't compare to other AMC theaters I have visited the floors need to be repainted. The chairs look worn. Trash was on the floor in several rows. This place just looked dirty. I am surprised that more attention is not paid to the upkeep of this location. After the movie, two staff came in and pretended to be cleaning the theater. One staff swept half of a row while the other walked past the other rows. They agreed that the theater was clean! I understand that the staff are young and are just trying to get a paycheck, but management is going to have to do better. I have no desire to ever watch another movie at this location. read more

Ugh Chattanooga moviegoers, let's demand a better experience. The location of this theater is 10/10. Right downtown on broad st. you can't get batter than that. However.. this theater looks like it hasn't been cleaned in 2 months and needs a MAJOR renovation. This is the quintessential movie theater from the 2005 we all grew up going to. It's time for a renovation to bring it up to the 2023 move experience we all love. Give us the nice leather recliners, and please, it's time to start reserving seats. This theatre gets worse and worse every time I come here. They have a large selection of movies, but the floors are gross, the chairs are literally falling apart, and the temperature control is extreme (it's either freezing or sweltering). You'll find the movie you want to see here, but it won't be a comfortable experience. Not worth the 20-minute drive or the money. This place is in serious need of renovations. Cool that it's downtown.... Until you have to pay for parking. The theater is always understaffed and HORRIBLY messy. We went to a movie yesterday, and as soon as we walked in we saw candy all over the place. We asked for a water cup and were told they don't give water cups and we had to buy a bottle- FOR $6!!!!! We get to theater 6, and the heat is out (it's December and FREEZING) everyone in the room is shivering and complaining. The screen was jacked up and slightly out of focus, the edges (corners) were also black and fuzzy. Terrible experience. Go to the Regal at Hamilton Place: cheaper, reclining seats, CLEAN, and free parking. read more

This is my favorite movie theatre to go to. Not because it is convenient to down town but because everything new and up to date. I usually park for free a couple blocks away on a hill in front of Buehlers Food Market in front of a meter after 4pm. Anyway, the sound is great up in this theatre. Yesterday we decided to do the traditional Christmas Day - go to the movies. Since closer, we chose the downtown AMC theater location. Bonus: Free parking downtown on holidays. We were regular guests at this theater prior to Covid. Just went to our first movie since Covid started. This is now the filthiest theater I have ever been in my life . It starts in the lobby and continues into the theaters , the cup holders were filled with trash. Trash between the seats and after the movie I thought I lost something , so I looked under the reclining seat wow ,, words can not describe the debris under the seats almost a health hazard . The bathrooms were dirty , no paper towels , trash cans overflowing ,,, The counter staff were friendly , the only reason I did not give the facility a 1 rating Bottom line a theater i was proud to take out of town guests to enjoy a movie is now off my list This is all on the management !! Found a movie deal! Any show between 4-530p start time, weekdays, is $5 a ticket. Small size drink or popcorn are $1 each. They even have current movies (not as many, maybe, as bigger cities but still enough). Finally, a dash of sanity in the whole movie theater nonsense. read more

This is probably the nicest movie theater I've seen in a long time. The seats are very comfy and the aisle in front of them seems more spacious than other theaters. You still have to squeeze in a bit for someone to walk past, but you don't have to stand up. The sound in the theater was crazy loud and coming at me from all directions, surround sound at its best I suppose. But I wish my theater had been a bit more crowded to lessen the impact of it. The price for a 2:00pm movie on a Sunday afternoon was $7.50. I grumble about high movie prices like everyone else, but that's how it is. I only purchased water as refreshment and the liter bottle was $5.00. (The smaller bottle was $4.50.) This costly beverage wasn't too much of a surprise either. Although I didn't park, huge signs on the door announce that they validate parking in the garage with the purchase of a movie ticket. I like that they tell everyone in such an obvious way as some places won't tell you they validate until you're leaving. I did notice the swanky VIP theater sign, but the door was only partially open, so I didn't get a good look inside. (Next time I'm going to gate crash.) What made me write this review is that this theater is a "green" building, and it is the first movie theater to be registered to received LEED certification. LEED = Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design - these folks check out a building and confirm that it was built according to environmental standards (what those are, I don't know.) But I thought it was interesting that a movie theater took the time to build "green" yet still sell bottled water for $4.50. But I enjoyed watching a movie here, and I'll definitely make it my movie stop when I'm in Chattanooga. Maybe I'll get into the VIP! read more

This theater is crazy awesome! It's super clean and the staff is super friendly. You walk in to the smell of buttered popcorn. There are TVs on the wall in the lobby where you can screen the latest trailers. Inside the theaters the chairs recline and are supersoft. You can really sit back and relax and enjoy your theater experience. There is a special theater where they serve alcohol and food and have larger seating with small tables. There are multiple showings for every movie and when there is blockbuster, management will show the same movie theater so all of their guests are able to see the show. I highly recommend this theater. Plus there are a ton of area restaurants by this downtown. You can make a night of it with your significant other. Go to dinner, then come see a show at a great theater. read more

I parked in the theater lot (physically touching the building), but that lot is not free. $7 later. I go to the cashier and no one acknowledges me until I lean against the counter and stare them down. I get my ticket and order a small soda. The cashier says large, I saw small, they hand me a large and charge me full price. Ticket and large soda: $23 plus parking: $30. Alright. No one tells you where to go and there are no signs outside of the theaters to confirm that's the one you should be at. I love this location. Formerly Carmike, the cinema is now owned by AMC, though there haven't been too many noticeable changes. The theater itself is in great condition, and each room is equipped with good seating and projection screens. This location also offers a dining movie experience (Carmike called it the Ovation Room), and the "Big D" theater, which features a larger screen and better quality seating (leather seats that are spacious and comfortable). The food options available are great now that AMC owns the company--you can get full meals rather than just your typical popcorn and candy. I also like the location of this theater. My husband and I enjoy the area, so it's nice to be able to hang out around Broad Street and then pop in to see a movie. There's a parking deck right next door, and the theater validates, so it's nice not to have to worry about parking fees! The only negative for me about this theater is that the last time I visited there, the bathrooms seemed kind of gross. I think they need to get better about cleanliness, but otherwise I am always happy with my experience at the Majestic! read more

First time going to a movie during COVID, which they were fine following guidelines with masks and sanitation, but it was super hot in the theatre for some reason. We asked the staff to make thé theatre cooler, but I don't think they ever did. I don't go to the movies in 90 degree weather to sweat. I go to cool down and enjoy a show. There are also lights that line the stairs leading up to the seats, which is nice but they were way too bright and distracting from the film. If they could be a little cleaner, turn the a/c on, and dim those stupid lights it could be a great theatre. Won't be going to the movies again here anytime soon. read more

Truly the best AMC theater I have ever been to. This is a newer construction building that helps reduce your carbon footprint. The concessions is where you usually get your tickets on slow days and is full of choices including some meal type foods. The offer a BIG DDD experience auditorium that has luxurious seating and call to your seat food service. The large tile entrance flooring is beautiful and the ceilings are tall bringing a buzz to enjoy on busy days. Plenty of room to wait with fellow patrons and bathrooms although small and available. The waiting area also has seating and tables. Staff are usually around to answer questions and advertise charity programs they occasionally have fun with. When big movies premiere this location almost always has professional costumed people helping everyone pass time until the show starts. read more

Visited with my brother on the way through town as it was a quick walk from our hotel. The lobby is spacious with places to sit while you wait for your movie to begin seating. The staff was very courteous. We got Icee drinks and popcorn and everything tasted great. Our theater was clean and seats were comfortable. I visited the restroom and found it to be clean and well maintained, though the mirror was missing. I assume someone broke it somehow, but I hope they replace it for future patrons. It's quite hard to tell if you're covered in popcorn bits without a mirror, LOL. read more

The people who work here could care less if you are here or not. We also had to go and ask for the volume to be turned on to our movie. Went to this theater today so excited to see the new Stars Wars movie. The movie was great but this theater is a mess! The lobby and hallway floors are dirty and littered with popcorn. The men's bathroom looks like it hasn't been cleaned in weeks. The theater floors were sticky hadn't been cleaned from the night before. There was garbage and popcorn everywhere. I would never attend a movie here again until I heard the place had been renovated. It's beyond needing just a deep-cleaning. Time for new carpet, paint, and management! Before this theatre was bought out by AMC, it was seriously awesome. The ovation room, where you could order food, drink and more - was top notch. There was never an issue with cleanliness, quality or service. NOW, it's literally awful. The tables are disgusting, none of the screens in the hallways work, the staff is rude and it's gone seriously down hill. Don't waste your money. It's the literal worst. Oh, and gross. read more

Girlfriend and I stopped by here to catch a movie. This was our first visit to the Majestic. I had heard that it's a great place to catch a movie and I was excited to check it out. We went to a early afternoon show after meeting some friends for lunch, so we parked in a nearby lot. I later learned that you can park in the parking deck for free with your validated ticket, but I'm not sure if there's a time limit on that. An early Saturday afternoon (12:50 pm) set us back $7.50 each. Not terribly expensive, but not the cheapest movie I've ever watched either. I remember the days of the $4.00 matinee... Maybe I'm getting old, I don't know. I was also disappointed to learn that they don't take American Express... in keeping with my review policy, that's minus one star for that. The theater's lobby is very clean and well laid out. The concession stand takes up a corner on the right side of the lobby, making it easy to bypass if you don't need overpriced popcorn and soda. Considering we had just came from eating lunch, we didn't see the need to waste any money on it... so I can't speak to the quality of the concessions... but I did notice the price. Ouch! Girlfriend was impressed with the banner promoting the operas and Shakespearean plays that are performed live in Carmike theaters. We didn't explore what shows were going to played here soon. (Whew!) The movie theater itself is very nice. The aisles were nice and wide, so that my knees weren't pressed into the seats in front of me. In fact, someone could walk by without me getting up. The seats were comfortable and reclined. The armrests are movable, so if you want to snuggle up to that special someone, you can. The theater was cold, but considering I like it cold and it was 95 degrees outside that day, I loved it. It was also nice and clean inside... even though it was early in the day, I could still tell that they take good care of the place and don't let the dirt and trash accumulate, like some theaters I've been in. The picture on the screen was great and the sound system was pretty good too. In some theaters, I haven't been impressed with the surround sound. Either this system is just that great, or we were in the sweet spot. Unfortunately, I could also hear the rumblings of the bass from the theater next to us too, which distracted from the movie. Overall I really enjoyed this theater, it's a nice, clean, well-cared for facility that has a great picture and good sound. I would really enjoy seeing another movie here at anytime.
