Not sure why this place has only three stars. Our food and service were both amazing. We pulled into town during the ice/snow storm and this was the only place around actually open. They close at 9 we walked in at 8:35 and we offered to take it to go but they insisted we stay. Everyone in there was incredibly kind. The chips and salsa were some of the best I've had. I got carnitas and they were so very delicious. My husband and oldest got enchiladas, which they both said were amazing. My other two kids got nachos and a quesadilla. The nachos were huge and the quesadilla was delicious! (Mom tax). We would not hesitate to eat here again if ever traveling back through. It's clean and inviting and well priced. Definitely recommend trying it out if you're in the area. read more

Food arrived fast but the service was beyond terrible, everyone there was acting like we were a bother. They also didn't understand English (which is fine if they were being nice !) she got our order and then came with the food and left without saying a word she was so upset like someone was bothering her. The rest of the time her and another male worker are sitting at a table on their phones far from us. Even though there was a couple of tables eating probably needing service they shouldn't be sitting... At the end I asked if they had desert she walked away from me and brought the manager because she didn't understand... THEN the manager comes all upset like "well we only have churros and we sell them by the piece" and I said okay can we get that? And she walks away like I was asking for too much. read more

Great margaritas, good food, and Ms. Debbie is the best waitress! This is one of our favorite places to eat in White Hall!

First time experience was Horrible service! My burrito was very soggy and wet and everything in the inside was falling out the burrito. They had a problem with me asking for another one because they say their boss doesn't like wasting food. I asked for a different kind of drink because I didn't like their Mexican punch it was a problem and the guy that waited on us had an attitude. Never came to refill my husband drink. I would not recommend this restaurant. Bad service, never again. It was like they were trying to force me to eat the burrito because they didn't want to waste their food. I never been to a restaurant where they had a problem with you changing your drink because you don't like it. read more

What's better than Shrimp tacos? Fried shrimp tacos..... I was told specifically to try these fried shrimp tacos. WOW, they are good.!!! They come with a cabbage mixture topping that is slightly spicy and full of flavor. Rice and beans on the side with the standard chips/salsa when you side down. Everything was tasty with the salsa being on the sweet side (not a complaint). If I were to knit pick, the chips are on the thin side but that's coming from a thick chip guy. If you like fried shrimp tacos, definitely give these a try..... read more

if I could give them a zero, I would have, I but there isn't an option for that. On June. 23rd I ordered dinner for my husband and I. We have always loved visiting Ameca but this time I placed a call in order. I recently had knee surgery and wasn't cleared by the doctor to be in the general public. I ordered their Ameca dip, which I absolutely love and I ordered three meat fajitas. What I normally would have paid around $25-28 for, I was charged $46. Not only am I extremely disappointed because they were a favorite, but these people know me well. Needless to say, without some extreme measures to make this right, we will not be visiting Ameca again. read more

My boyfriend and I were on the same ticket. He had a large beer. I had 2 margaritas. That's it. On the menu the margaritas stated that they were $4 each. No size difference was stated on the menu. My boyfriends beer said it was $2.75 on the menu. We never had ordered any food. Just the drinks. We go to pay and the lady says our bill is $25. I asked why so much and she said that my margaritas were $9 for a large. I couldn't find on the menu where there was a size difference and difference in price either. Our bill should have been around $15 but no we had to pay more than the menu said. She never let us know if the prices had went up. Never had let us know that there were APPARENTLY different size margaritas. She just either charged for the bigger one or she just made up a number in her head and charged us that. Also there is a sign up at the front sort of hidden that says you pay a $1 to just eat off of one of their plates. Ridiculous. Do better Ameca. Will not be back. I get it if they havent updated their menu prices. But they need to disclose said new prices. read more

I've been here four times and it's my least favorite Mexican restaurant in the area. The service is terrible every time. For example, the server took our order while on his cell phone in the middle of talking to whomever he was on his phone. The food is Microwaved, not great by any means. The pricing is awful but they actually serve beer and alcohol so that is a plus on this side of town. The hamburger that was in the taco, the enchilada and the chulupa was dry and bland. The salsa, as in "chips and salsa," was bland. The sweet iced tea was good. But other than that, I can say the place is.......bland. The only saving grace is the service, it was fast, but then again, I found myself wishing the service was slow, as in, "I wish I would've never ever even gotten the food," slow. read more

My husband placed a phone order and when he went to pick it up the order was wrong. After several attempts to explain the order to the wait staff they went to the manager. The manager stated that "we don't have to make you anything that is not on our menu". My husband then stated if that was the case then whom ever took the order over the telephone should have indicated you don't do specialty orders. We have eaten at Ameca since 2013... the staff has changed and so has the management for the worse. After today they no longer have to worry about our business. We will patronize El Parian in White Hall or El Sol in Watson Chapel. Do not eat here!!!!! read more

I pulled in for a one night stay in Pine Bluff and just randomly asked the owner of the motel if there was a nice Mexican food place to eat at. He recommended Ameca. What a wonderful experience. I had their spicy tilapia. It was absolutely wonderful. Their salsa is one of the best I have had and I am a picky salsa guy from Texas. The service was warm and friendly. They knew at once I was new and treated me like true guest. Totally 5 star!! read more

I am a local and this is not a place I would recommend. I patronized this establishment many times until other Mexican restaurants became available. This place is unusual in my opinion for a Mexican restaurant. Usually, these restaurants are staffed with friendly, helpful servers but this one not so much. I have eaten at this establishment several times over the past 4 years and their food and service has always been very good. The reason I am posting this review is because of the experience I had their this evening 8/3/2012. My fiance and I went to Ameca to have a nice dinner. We ordered the Canaveral platter for two just like always. When they brought it out the first time there was a very pungent odor coming from the sizzling platter. I quickly identified that the pork chops that are on top of the platter were rancid. I brought this to the attention of the waiter. The waiter quickly agreed with me and called over the manager. The manager volunteered to comp my meal and replace it. When they brought the platter out again I gave the pork chops a brief smell, there was a little bit of an unusual odor however I couldn't imagine that they would make the same mistake again. I took a small bite and immediately preceded to the bathroom to cleanse my mouth (and stomach). How could a competent well run restaurant serve rancid food two times in a row?
