My husband and I ate here for lunch for the first time Friday, February 7, 2025. Our neighbors recommendation. It was busy, but we didn't have to wait for a table, our waitress took our drink order and was back quickly to get our food order plus brought a basket of hush puppies (crispy outside, tender inside with a hint of sweetness) He ordered catfish and shrimp with French fries plus an order of onion rings. I ordered the 12 fried shrimp meal with a baked potato which came with butter and sour cream on the side, both came with cole slaw (the dressing was fresh and not overpowering.) Shrimp sauce, tartar sauce and several bottled hot sauces plus salt & pepper were on the table. Staff was friendly and efficient, food was very good. The light breading on the fish, shrimp and onion rings was crispy and the seafood moist and flavorful. Portions were decent and prices too. We got a to go box for leftovers. We ate there on Friday at about 5:30. The place was packed and the food was excellent, with one stipulation, the service was poor. They did not have enough servers and the ones there were spread too thin. They are also making the servers carry their ticket to the front. Very slow process. No tea or water refills. Me and the old lady stopped in last night. Big place, looks likes it's been there a while, older, we'll used furniture through the restaurant...really had the old school, hometown vibe to it. They bring you hush puppies, queso(cheese dip for you northerners), pickled tomato slices, and Cole slaw. On the house! The hush puppies were homemade. We also order some onion rings. We ordered catfish, shrimp, fries and onion rings. The catfish was tasty and good for a restaurant of this caliber. The shrimp were very disappointing due to the extremely small size. The fries were out of the bag average and the onion rings were freshly cook but still had a somewhat non crunchy or rubbery texture to the batter. There's not many places to eat here, but Leon's filled our stomachs and for that we say it was good enough for a second time visit. read more

I really enjoyed Leon's catfish and shrimp. It is kind of quirky but it does what it does really well. You sit down and they bring you a pitcher of unsweet and some hush puppies. I order the catfish and shrimp with frys. The catfish was awesome the shrimp were good but there were only 4 of them. I would do the all you can eat next time in. frys were good but frys are hard to screw up. I think the price is right, the service is good, and the food was delicious. Worth a visit read more

During a work trip to Pine Bluff, we were desperate for some good food that wasn't fast food or a chain. Some of the people in our group wanted to try Leon's, which wouldn't be my first choice as I'm not a catfish fan. But I AM a trooper, so there I went. The restaurant has been in business for a long time, which is awesome. Overall, it was pretty good, although some in our party loved it more than others. Personally, I was in the middle. You get coleslaw, hush puppies, cheese dip and unsweet tea brought to the table once you set down. All of that was pretty good. The hush puppies had jalapeños in them but they weren't overly spicy. And dipping them in the cheese sauce was fun. I ended up getting the popcorn shrimp, which had a nice light breading. You get A LOT of food. The shrimp on my plate was piled high, no joke. The fries were basic. Not bad, just average. The catfish (according to two people in our group) was okay - could've been seasoned a bit more. It had a nice crunch and texture but didnt taste like it was cleaned very good or not overly fresh (not that it wasn't "fresh" but just a matter of how the fish might've been stored throughout the day). One bright spot - the onion rings were fabulous! Definitely an A-OK place for me. SUPER Friendly people. Crazy fast service. I can see why locals like to eat here. read more

I've heard a lot about this place, nothing bad just that they have some really good catfish. So I recently decided to try it out because I love a good catfish dinner. And before placing my order my mom told me to make sure I tell them I want my fish crispy otherwise it'll be too soft. (It was a to-go order) My wait time was about 15 minutes, which is normal for a to-go order. Food was ready in time and hot & fresh as it should be. The fish was seasoned well, crispy on the outside & fluffy on the inside and It taste great. It didn't have that fresh water fishy taste, which I dislike. The hush puppies were good as well. I don't too much care for cole slaw. And the fries were decent. My only issue is it wasn't what I expected for the price of a large. The dinner seem a little empty to me, it didn't come with enough fries. The fries are what makes the meal, at least that's what I think. lol. Stopped here on our way home to Oklahoma. There were 2 waitresses working that I saw and both of them were very friendly and attentive. We were pleasantly surprised when we sat down and were immediately greeted with complimentary unsweet tea, hush puppies and cheese dip. For dinner we ordered an appetizer of onion rings; fried shrimp and catfish, boneless ribs, and chicken strips. I tried it all and everything was delicious!
