Flew out on a 26 year old 737 the other day and it was a lackluster experience. My flight to SFO was delayed 3+ hours due to runway construction at SFO along with low ceilings impacting arrivals. Interestingly enough, the AA flight scheduled after mine left before mine?!? Once we were all on board, the pilots informed us of the situation and that our departure was scheduled in an hour and we would just be taxing on the runway for an hour?!? Once up in the air, the beverage cart came through midway through the flight along with a little bit of snacks. Some of the more junior cabin crew were talented and cordial. #GenZvibes Cabin attendants wore xl gloves. I received 5 notifications throughout the day from AA informing me of the continuous delays for my flight which was interesting. Domestic carriers hit differently than Asian carriers. Iykyk

Chicago, not my favorite city and ORD isn't my favorite airport. But, the food and beverages, not to mention the Admirals Clubs are as always, my oasis from the messy masses. Thank You American Airlines and Thank You Premium Services for your hospitality and especially for your Admirals Clubs.

Our flight from Chicago to Seattle was on a Boeing 737 with 157 passengers - 4 crew and 2 pilots. Our flight attendants were Sherri and Lisa, who took excellent care of us. We were in First Class - the seats were very comfortable. What was not comfortable was the temperature of the plane. We were cold the entire 4 hours plus flight. We asked many times for more heat and the flight attendants crew tried, but to no avail. Surprisingly, there were no blankets on board. They did start us of with offers of drinks - we had diet cokes with warm nuts. We had pre-ordered our lunch, which was excellent. We had Beef Wellington, asparagus, roasted potatoes, carrots, turnips, fresh garden salad with grapes, apple and cheese with a balsamic, vinegar dressing and a pecan pie for dessert.

I had a connecting flight out of the Chicago O'Hare airport. I was in a larger plane before. This one is slightly smaller and older. Chicago seemed a little busier than usual. We were in and seated on time. We were in line waiting for traffic to clear so we could taxi out. That was about ten minutes it seemed. The seat was comfortable. The cargo storage above was a lot smaller on this plane. I was thankful for the two seats instead of the three seats! If you have to get up, it's much easier to!! There's a plug in to charge your phone/laptop top. Overall, another pleasant flight. The flight staff were all very friendly and helpful. We also received refreshments on this flight. Full sized Coke and cookies. I will use this airline, again. So far, flights were on time. I'm still a little unsure of their luggage policies when booking flights and such. However, thankfully, I am a small carryon packer!!

Been here at Chicago O Hare airport with my wife and son since 3pm. Our flight got delayed and now we missed our connecting flight to Phoenix-Ont CA. Do not even bother asking assistance from their customer service. They gave us a flight to LAX now with another delayed flight. That means we will be here at O Hare for 5 hours with no guarantee of actually being able to board. Aside from paying extra to land at Ontario CA airport now we have to take an Uber from LAX to Ontario that means another 1-2 hour drive plus paying $150 Uber fee. AA Customer Service did not even offer any assistance for a shuttle. I'll never fly AA again.

AA is a good standard airline and if you don't pay Basic fares you can change flights anytime. The good thing about AA at Ohare in IL is that there are many flights to and from major cities like NYC LGA to ORD Chicago. There are typically 8-10 flights a day so if you miss one you standby or switch for the next.

After my flight was canceled again, I sent a stinker of an email to AA and they gave me 5000 bonus miles as compensation for what I spent on hotel stay and cabs. Not enough to make me fly AA again ... Never! read more

I flew from and to Europe with AA and I didn't like the service. The crew was unfriendly and sometimes rude! In the first flight from Heathrow, a flight attendant told me to change my bag to another overhead compartment. I explained to her that Im too short and I couldn't reach it. She answered: " Its not my problem, I cant help you!". And turned around. Oh, really?! Thank you, miss sympathy! Ironically, a few minutes later I saw the same flight attendant asking a passenger for help to close the compartment doors because she was too small! Short people of the World: choose another company to fly, AA is not your thing! When I was coming back to Europe I met another nice flight attendant. She was giving forms and I asked if I needed one since Im a European citizen, she told me "I have no idea!". Who cares?! Another potentially strong candidate to miss sympathy! read more

Our flight was delayed an hour from Chicago to San Francisco. The flight had inflight entertainment, so that was nice. I did not purchase a seat for my daughter and I so we did not get to sit together, even though there were two empty seats together. All in all it was good! read more

Rode from LAX to O'Hare with American Airlines this past Sunday 8/12. We had paid for one of our seats to have 6" extra leg room, however when we got on the plane this seat was just a standard seat. The person in front of us had had the seat that looked like we should of had based on the map.. Quite a tight ride with these decreases in leg space going on with airlines. After the long trip, I wanted my pup to use the bathroom somewhere so I thought we'd check out the pet relief area. This was the WORSTTTT smell I've ever smelled. There were 2 little sprinklers to "rinse" off the "grass," however that in no way helped the smell or would truly clean the area. There were flies everywhere!! It came to the point where I had made the decision that this was beyond disgusting for my dog to go to the bathroom now, so in total from before we left to the airport around 4AM, she wasn't able to go to the bathroom until about 7PM ET... Please sanitize these areas and change out the grass once it starts smelling in there (and of course before flies start to accumulate in this area). read more

My flight arrived here late and docked at 12:35. Not leaving most connecting flyers time to make the 15mins boarding window that must have opened and closed with a min of boarding. I got to my gate by 12:53 and was informed I am too late. After receiving my new flight from the contradicting woman at try gate, I had to wait here an extra 3 hours. Asking for help in this airport has proven pointless. One woman who saw that I was completely upset helped me and directed me to the right place. By that time it was too late to make any changes to my flight that would gotten me home quicker. Thank you to that woman and the man at customer service. You are the only reason this airport has gotten any stars. I've interacted with multiple people at this airport and only two truly helped me. I will never transfer at this airport let alone fly with American Airlines. (Maybe lol) read more

Train, bus, airplane experience. Boarded plane from San Diego to Chicago to transfer to Pittsburgh yesterday. Plane leaves on time, but gets stuck on tarmac for about 20 minutes. Then they announce that they have to go back and get a new pilot because the pilot's time would run over 4 minutes over acceptable time for him according to FAA regulations. So we ended up leaving 1 hour 49 minutes later than scheduled. I miss my plane by 10 minutes, because they leave 5 minutes earlier. Now I'm stuck in Chicago. They get me a hotel 20 minutes away from the airport, but we wait an hour for the shuttle. The shuttle can only take half of the people, so half of us wait another 40 minutes for 2nd trip. I go to sleep at 1am. They wake me up at 2am to ask me if I was the right person to be in the room. Then they wake me up at 6am, to tell me my shuttle is leaving, when it was 9am when my shuttle was leaving. Finally I get to airport, and encounter rude Chicago American air kiosk personnel and TSA people. I really need to get back home and to work. If I can help it, I'm never flying American Air. Their aftercare sucked even worse than their regular care. I'm also getting rid of their credit card. read more

I will never fly American again. Never. Now, while my latest experience with them is still fresh in my head, the story I'm about to tell is so ridiculous I almost find it funny. Almost. Friday, June 6: Leave work early to catch a 4:10 flight to Toronto. Get to O'Hare to find that my flight is delayed because the flight crew is late. An hour and a half later, my flight crew arrives and we board. Taxi out onto the tarmac and sit for another hour and a half, at least. Only once did they chime in to let us know that we could not take off because of the wind. OK, I understand when weather is to blame, but you could have let us know right away, rather than waiting a good 45 minutes before telling us anything! Anyway, we sat on the tarmac idling for so long that we had to go back to the gate to refuel, at which point they told us our flight was now canceled. Great! The real kicker? A flight got out to Toronto just before ours was originally scheduled to depart. If our damn crew had been on time, we probably could've gotten out as well. So, the mad dash begins to try and rearrange travel plans. The next flight was 7:00 am the next day. Well, that obviously sucks, so we managed to get standby on a flight to Buffalo, where we had to drive up to Toronto. Now, that is even better than our experience coming back! Sunday, June 8: Arrive at Toronto International at 3pm. Flight is already delayed due to storms in Chicago. Long story short--5 hours go by before we even have a glimmer of hope that we can take off that night. When our plane finally makes it to the gate, AA decides to put two planes at that gate. Two planes going to O'Hare. And of course, my plane boards second. It is now 9:30 pm, the first plane has boarded and departed. Lucky them. When it is our turn, the lousy gate attendants announce that our crew's time has expired and therefore our flight is delayed until 7 am Monday morning!!!! This is seriously getting ridiculous. Why would they put two flights in one gate when they knew our crew's time was about to expire?! So we book a hotel for Sunday night--a cost that AA will not pay for since the delay is "weather related". Next morning we show up, and AA tells us to use the same boarding pass as the night before. OK--fine, until we make it to Customs. They won't let us through. Go back, have someone change the date, go back through customs. Get through OK. Get to security. They don't like that the ticket is changed by hand. Go back. I went through Customs 3 damn times that morning! In short, I will never, I mean NEVER fly American again. Their excuses, apathetic staff, and complete disregard for my time is inexcusable. They're lucky they could blame the weather that day so they didn't have to pay for hotels, but I guarantee they lost at least 40 or more customers that day. read more

I have been traveling on American Air for many years. I used to be a Platium flyer. This airline is slowly going down hill. First, $25 to check my bag. Seriously? Now people are bringing on more bags, which means longer lines in security and longer to board. Second, only beverage service. If you want nuts with that soda, you better be prepared to buy them. Third, getting an aisle seat will cost you more money. Fourth, all those free upgrades mean nothing. First class is always booked. Stop nickle and diming your passengers. Maybe at booking ask the simple question, who you like to pay $xx more so you can check a bag and get a snack? read more

I have a carry on that is specifically designed / shaped to fit in the overhead compartments of almost every airplane. Whenever I fly American (and only American) I am asked to fit my bag into that tiny 'size test cage' by the gate and it doesn't fit. Yet miraculously it fits in the overhead compartment! Either don't alllow people to carry on all but the smallest size rollon, or make your test cage the actual size of the overhead. The rest of the experience was entirely adequate, but having to wait at baggage claim for my bag (if it shows up) kind of ruins the entire point of bringing a carry on. read more

Ugh. Found out my flights to Chicago were cancelled and I'd been rebooked by AA on later flights getting me in from Key West to Miami and Miami to Chicago almost six hours later than planned. The annoying thing was that the first flight off the island hadn't actually been cancelled...only the second flight out of Miami. I had to fight just to get my original seat back that had been given to someone else. They bumped me off that flight so I wouldn't be in Miami waiting as long as a "service to me????" but seriously, who wants to be stuck at a small island airport where the chance of a better flight to Chicago is that much harder to get? How does that help you? I was able to get my original flight (with many moments of hassle and worry included) and ended up in Miami catching an earlier flight than the one I'd originally booked that had to cancel. Such is air travel - when things work out to your advantage in any way at all it's a huge win. read more

This is the only airline that I can fly non-stop from San Diego back home to Chicago. Other airlines offer the flight, but are all significantly more expensive than AA. I was irritated when I had upgraded my ticket on my way home to first class and there were no snacks or meals offered. Just warm nuts. I paid quite a bit for it -- why can't they have snacks? They didn't even offer the cheese plate that they offer in the main cabin during the flight. I don't understand. I did have an incredible flight attendant who kept refilling my warm nuts because she knew i was hungry. She even offered me multiple cookies.. a very sweet lady. I wish I would've remembered her name. She was excellent and deserves recognition. read more

I have over a million miles with this airline. So sad to see how horribly they've deteriorated over the years especially after US Air took them over (I know it was the other way around, but they have become "US Scare"). Took almost $1000 from me for flights that were cancelled by THEM (not me) - completely understandable on the cancellations; there was bad weather. HOWEVER, they held my money "pending review" on their part for 15 days without issuing me a credit. So, they earned interest while they seemingly accused me of being a cheat for flights they (reasonably) had to cancel. Absolute classless organization. I have reported this illegal activity to the Attorney General in my state and you should not be subject to it either. Fly anyone else - even their dreaded twin, United. read more

2 cancelled flights in one business trip(one to destination, one on the way home). Air conditioning didn't work on both of the flights on the way home. They like to put you on the plane and make you sit on the tarmac for close to an hour with no info on why. Will most likely never fly American Airlines again. read more

Due to storms in Dallas, I was delayed two days in Moline. We had boarded, then deplaned on Father's Day, and on Tuesday, I recognized a couple who'd deplaned with me two days before. At that time, AA staff told me my baggage payment would be applied to next flight, but I watched a well-dressed cowboy who only spoke Spanish get charged again for three bags at $105. Four AA staff came to force him to pay, after first telling him he could not check three bags (overlooking his wife, next to him). I couldn't bear watching this, and tried to assist, but they made him come up with exact change, emptying pockets and purse. Of course, it worried me that I'd have to pay, too, but for some reason, this caucasian senior citizen did not get asked to pay again. Yay? When I made it to SFO, AA contacted me to say my second bag did not make it. Would I like it held at airport, or delivered to my home in Texas? Bad news is, I don't live in Texas, good news- I only checked one bag, which DID make it... AA, if you're reading this, you'll do the right thing, find the latino gentleman who boarded AA3401 6:30 from MLI to ORD (previously MLI to DFW on 6/16), and send him $105. We'll follow up on this, but in the meantime, please re-educate your MLI staff (all females!), as well as training them to deal with non-English speakers. read more

I think they should call it "cancellation airlines". I've flown on American twice in 6 weeks. 2 out of 4 flights were cancelled because of American's inability to keep their old crappy planes in service long enough to fly you to where they promised they would when you bought the ticket. Both times it meant that getting to my destination was a hassle, I got there late, and in a bad mood. The flights that actually aren't cancelled are typically on planes with interiors that are so old that I have flashbacks to my childhood in 1975. I really don't think that I will fly American again after the hell they've put me through twice in 2 trips. After one bad experience, I gave them another try, but now that they've blown it twice, I'd have to be an idiot to book a flight with them again. read more

Been calling them often about my international trips for two people, so a lot of money, especially since one is only one way. Representatives on the phone are so mean they made me verge on tears twice. Terrible airline, terrible service. I have their credit card and only flew American for a long time, but it's time to change. Extremely rude customer service, I have never experienced anything like it before. Ruined the entire joy of traveling or anticipating a trip. read more

I actually like this airline compared to others... They had the lowest priced non-stop flight from Chicago to San Diego. I like how you get to choose your seats (unlike Southwest). There's a ton of self-service machines. It's easy to check-in your bags and to print out your boarding tickets. read more

My least favorite AA flagship lounge but still much better than the admiral's club options at ORD. To correct the misinformed reviewer, you do NOT need to be a first class passenger to access this lounge. One World Emerald's can gain access when connecting to or from any international flight operated by One World. read more

This is my third international trip of the year on AA. I flew an ancient 767 to Rome that had horrible restrooms and the video entertainment was a Samsung Galaxy tablet with Bose noise reducing headset. To my shock, the movies were the SAME that I had seen on a similar 767 flight to Dusseldorf about two months ago! Shouldn't they change out the movies at LEAST once a month. American talks a lot about the "new American", but other than the LAX to LHR 777-300 flights, I've been flying these ancient (and the flight attendants are ancient too -- and forget about service, on the flight back from Rome they spent more time talking to each other in the galley than paying attention to the passengers) planes. Even on the LAX to Tokyo flight they have an OLD 777-200 that doesn't even have the lie flat seats and really poor entertainment options. I flew back from my recent Asia trip via Eva Air which was an incredibly pleasant experience. Unlike American, EVA has brand new 777-300's with the herringbone configuration, lie flat seats. The food is better, the restrooms were clean and full of nice amenities and what really stood out from American were the flight attendants. On American, they have a bunch of old, tired, bitter people who forgot long ago what service was. On Eva, the politeness and respect was overwhelming. They actually WALKED ME TO MY SEAT when I got on board and offered to put up my bags! I was always addressed as Mr. ____ , they knelt next to me when speaking and thanked me personally for flying with them! Oh, they also served Dom Perignon and the amenities kit is a really cool Rimowa case. read more

Worst customer service ever. Canceled our flight due to weather and made us pay change fees to keep the return flight. I'll never fly Anerican again. Just lost 6 customers. Their customer relations department is a joke and you cannot speak to a manager. It's apparent they have zero customer service skills. read more

I will never use american airlines ever again. We traveled from LA to chicago recently with our 18 month old and went as far as to buy a seat from him to insure that my husband and I could wrangle a seriosuly wiggly toddler. We soon found out that our seats were 15 rows apart and the staff did absolutely nothing to help us out. Several people were unwilling to switch seats even though they were traveling alone. I find it ridiculous that American airlines doesn't make it a prioroty to seat families together. They will never get our business again because of our experience. read more

Once again, have to love American's customer service. Arrive at 5:30 am for a 7:00 am flight. At 6:50 get informed the flight will be delayed until 7:40. Funny thing is, why wait when they knew hours ago the plane was late?! Now it is 7:40 and we are supposed to board now and there is still no plane! Nobody knows anything! Is the incoming plane missing? How do they not know the status of a $200 million aircraft?! read more

I'm still pinching myself that this place exists at ORD. The polaris lounge is slightly better, but who cares when you can have actual champagne, made to order omelette and a full buffet before your T3 domestic flight to BFE. A definite benefit for those with international oneworld status. The shower pressure is better than my apartment. I could literally live here. Feel sorry for the middle management drones with AA status - more than once I've had a golf dad follow me off the elevator on this floor and be turned away to the admiral's club jail. Oops! read more

Will not Patronize this airline Had to cancel a flight, a fare that was non refundable. This was due to a family member deceased. They would not offer a refund, but an opportunity for them to transfer the value, but I would still lose a $200 change fee. They would still sell that seat !!!! They are the losers. I will not patronize this airline. Historically, they have never satisfied issues they should have been accountable for. read more

Purchased tickets to Bali prior to Covid-19 shut downs. Tickets were bucket list items purchased at discount for two at risk seniors. Currently travel to Bali is banned and a quarantine required should you decide to ignore CDC's recommendation of no travel. American Airlines will refund ticket price to all but budget travelers who are required to pay $200. per ticket for change. Of course at first they did say they would refund but on closer examination it was to bad so sad. What sort of company does not issue a full refund? read more

My two daughters and wife have a trip planned for March 14-20 to San Francisco. However, due to the Coronavirus they wanted to cancel, since my daughter has an autoimmune disease which puts her at higher risk of complications if she catches the virus. AA is now offering people that book a flight between March 1-31 the ability to cancel without paying a cancellation fee, but is offering nothing to those of us who already booked flights for March. I booked a flight through AA from Chicago to Charleston SC with a layover in Charlotte NC (I was travelling to visit friends for the holidays). It wasn't the closest airport, but far cheaper than a closer city. The plane leaving Chicago was delayed by only about half an hour, but that made my connection in Charlotte impossible. AA sent me a text notifying me, offering alternative flights to Charlotte. So I called AA to see what could be done. They got me on a different flight to a closer airport that got me there at an even better time to be picked up. And all that for no extra charge. Air travel can be unpredictable for everyone, and knowing that this kind of customer service is there as a failsafe is comforting. This experience has made me an AA customer for life (assuming they still sell decently priced tickets of course). read more

Way better than the AA Admirals Club lounge. Comparable to other International First class lounges. Fully staffed. Tons of seating and plug-in options. Excellent food selections. Love the candy bar. All the booze anyone could want. read more

In general, the airline has lots of delays, but it's my go to airline. We have tons of miles and status so it's hard to fly anything else. The baggage fees are ridiculous. The AA counter at O'Hare was pretty solid though service wise. I just hit the kiosk and flew through without any hassles. Better than some AA counters I have experienced. I'll be back when I go back to Chicago. read more

Was in the process of booking online and the aa.com site went down on the last screen, when it finally came back up and I went to re-book, the flight was no longer available. I called the reservations dept and after about 20 mins of 'checking' they said while they could see that the booking attempt was made, they could not honor it. I would understand if it was down to a delay at my end, but their technology was clearly to blame and they wouldnt/ couldnt help out. Booked with another airline at a higher price, but happy to spend my money elsewhere. read more

This airport is small (to me) considering how large the city of Chicago is and a little outdated. There isn't much room to move in the gates. There are a few stations for charging devices, but when flights are delayed, there are definitely not enough. More outlets or charging stations would be beneficial. There are plenty of food options for meals and snacks. The car rental pick up process is also fairly smooth and easy to get to via train. A decent airport, but needs more charging areas.

An airport isn't necessarily a place to enjoy yourself, but in the event you have to do so, your choices are minimal here.

Leading up to our trip, we kept receiving email confirmations that everything was on time no issues at all. Then, the moment we arrived at the airport, we were blindsided with an email saying our flight was CANCELLED. No warning. No heads-up. Just canceled. The only options given were to rebook or take a refund. The earliest available rebooking wasn't until Tuesday, which completely ruined our plans, so we were forced to take a refund and book last-minute tickets with United Airlines costing us significantly more money out of pocket. We were told our baggage would be transferred to our return flight, which added to the confusion and stress. Unfortunately, it didn't end there. On our way back from Puerto Rico, we were scheduled again for a 12:29 PM flight. Throughout the day, we kept getting delay notifications one after another until the last update pushed the flight all the way to 2:59 AM. We waited, checked in, and then unbelievably the flight was CANCELLED again. At that point, there was little to no help from staff. We were told to go to the Spirit desk, leaving us scrambling around the airport, trying to figure out how to retrieve our luggage from baggage claim, rebook flights, and then go back through TSA all over again. It was chaotic, exhausting, and completely disorganized. Once again, no available flights until Monday or Tuesday. Rebooking with Spirit would have meant more delays, more uncertainty, and more money wasted with zero guarantee the flight wouldn't be canceled AGAIN. So we had no choice but to request another refund and book with United Airlines spending even more money just to get home. This entire experience was stressful, expensive, and completely avoidable with proper communication and customer support. Spirit Airlines showed zero reliability and zero accountability. Never EVER flying with Spirit again. The "cheap" price is not worth the headache, the risk, or the extra costs you'll end up paying in the end. Huge thanks to United Airlines for actually getting us home safely.

My 14-year-old daughter and I had assigned seats (24A and 25A). When we boarded, her assigned seat was occupied by another family. I calmly asked the flight attendant about it, and instead of politely explaining the situation, he raised his voice in front of other passengers, asked if I had paid for the seat assignment, and when I answered honestly that I had not, he told me, "Then you can't say anything. Sit where I tell you." My complaint is not about changing seats. I completely understand that families sometimes need to be seated together. My complaint is about the disrespectful and humiliating way I was treated. When I asked for the flight attendant's name, he refused to provide it. After landing, I went to Frontier Customer Service expecting someone to listen to my complaint. Instead, they refused to help me or direct me to a supervisor. This happened today, July 29, 2026, on Flight F9 67 from Punta Cana (PUJ) to Miami (MIA). No passenger deserves to be treated this way. This experience was humiliating and completely unacceptable. Frontier needs to do a much better job training its employees in basic customer service and respect.

I read several JetBlue reviews via yelp prior to this flight to help calm pre-flight jitters because I have never flown with JetBlue. I had to remind myself that I once flew with Spirit Airlines to New Orleans, Louisiana for crying out loud. And most know that Spirit does not have the best reputation. As for my airport experience, surprisingly, TSA was not crowded at all! Other than my carry-on bag being checked due to me having toothpaste check-in went smooth. At the time, I chuckled with personnel because I knew clearly what it was but leave it to hard-headed me for packing it, hehe. As for the flight gate, it took me forever to find it due to lack of signage. As mentioned, I have never flown JetBlue, so the terminal was one I had never visited. What threw me off was the fact that the only terminal 2 signage I saw was for baggage claim. Eeek! I nearly missed boarding, but I kept on moving until I found the JetBlue gate. Now as for my onboard experience, I wanted to charge my phone as I slept on flight because my phone battery was low. I found that there were no power outlets at all which left me with no other option but to preserve my battery as much as I can enroute. I have to point out that it was unpleasant smelling smoke as the plane prepared to lift off from Chicago, Illinois. It was then, I started to take notice of how outdated everything appeared on this plane as my melatonin kicked in. I slept the majority of the flight, so I had little communication with the flight attendants other than the boarding flight hello, a flight attendant asking me if I wanted a snack as I woke up briefly, and the airplane departure goodbye greeting. And as for the airplane interior, the seat comfort was decent! I did have an acceptable amount of leg room, even with my backpack underneath the seat in front of me. I did love the image of the airplane hovering over states on the seatback television which I could not help but notice while awake. In spite of what the plane did not have, it did have access to XM radio stations & Direct TV channels. I survived this flight with JetBlue and would be open to flying with again, as well as recommending to a friend, relative or colleague after this experience. Dear Yelp Customers: If you want drama, lies and bullshit then buy your tickets at American Airlines! I fly alot and have flown throughout the country with relatively no issues beyond the regular hiccups. I'm not one that writes in to complain but this one was too good not to share as a warning to any potential customers of American Airlines. I had my flight set for Sunday, August 30th, 2011, via American Airlines to fly from Phoenix, Arizona back to Chicago's O'hare airport. My wife called me first thing Saturday, August 29th, 2011, stating she needed me back because she was sick and needed to go to the hospital and i needed to get back to watch the kids. We have two small children 2 yr. old and 6 month old. I packed up and headed straight for the Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport. I tried using my phone via the internet to book a flight or change my flight but internet reception was not moving from page to page very well. The taxi cab dropped me off in front of the american airlines check in area. I proceeded to get into line to talk to a customer service representative. After waiting in line for 55 minutes please keep in mind there were only 3 people in front of me but the agents were moving as slow as molasses with a horrible attitude to boot. I finally was served and had hopes of getting on the noon flight back to Chicago. I explained i had a ticket for the next day but needed to book a flight back today and preferred to get on the next flight back to chicago. The agent took my ticket and called someone via a 1-800-# to get permission to change my flight. This took another 15 minutes. I know this because i was getting dangerously close to my 45 minute cut off for the TSA to get on my flight. The agent told me that corporate said that my ticket wasn't worth anything so it couldn't be applied to a transfer. I'm not sure about that. I paid $175 for the ticket. Irregardless, I needed to get back home so i asked how much would a ticket be to get back home. The ticket was $453.70! Anyone that has children knows that you will do about anything for your kids so i agreed to pay for the ticket. As soon as the agent was done booking the ticket she said you can go but your bag cannot go on the plane. I said, "What?" she continued that the flight was no longer accepting bags and oh by the way your next flight back to chicago isn't for another 6 hours so i will bump you to that one. I told her no way that was unacceptable. i needed to get on that flight or to cancel the transaction. The customer service representative said she would cancel the purchase and refund it to my account. For those keeping track i paid $175 for a sunday flight that i didn't take and $453.70 for another saturday, August 29th, 2011, flight that i didn't take because American Airlines customer service representatives are incompetent to say the least. American Airlines now has $628.70 of my money but never have i flown on a their planes back to Chicago. I left the american airlines check in counter after the customer service representative stated three times she would cancel my ticket and refund my money. This obviously never happened thus the fact why im writing this to warn all potential customers of american airlines that their agents lie and never follow through but they will definitely take your money! A long story short i have tried to get my money back and have received resistance from American Airlines so i'm going to make sure that everyone knows what a bunch of lying deuschebags i have been dealing with in hopes to prevent future customers from working with or purchasing their airline tickets through american airlines. The day for me was very stressful to know that my wife was ill to the point she needed medical attention and that my kids were going to hospital with her while i was in Phoenix trying to get back home. The agents for American Airlines did not make it any easier by taking my money and lying to me. I'm working on getting reimbursed and i will be filing a lawsuit against American Airlines to recapture my money and time lost wasted trying to get my money back from these losers. Whatever happened to doing the right thing? I found my way over to the US AIRWAYS desk at the phoenix airport i explained my situation and within 15 minutes i was going through TSA heading towards my gate to get home. I used to fly American Airlines and have a mileage card with them but i will not be flying American Airlines ever again. If you have children you know how i feel. You will do almost anything for your kids and you support businesses that are family orientated that help families. Last November, my human rights class & I were flying to London to conduct a comparative analysis of the US vs UK legal systems, and miscarriages of justice. So I get to the airport, and it turns out the my Passport won't scan because my golden doodle pup deemed it an appropriate chew toy. Well, the nice attendant decided that it was ok and that she would just go scan my passport at her computer. Well, as she's scanning my passport, the General Manager of American Airlines @ O'hare walks behind her. And mind you, this GM is a monster. 6'2/6'3, blonde, blue eyes, intimidating lady, mid forties, wreaks of the Chicago burbs and Limbaugh. Put differently, she's the soccer mom who will run you the fuck over. Well she snatches my passport right out of the attendants hand, comes up to me and says "sir, you are not flying today." We ask her why, and she just says that it's her call, and that she doesn't have to accept anyone with a damaged passport. Well my prof pulls out her insanely water damaged passport and the not-so-friendly giant tells her how lucky she is that she isn't pulling her off the flight, and that she be thankful. At this point my prof and I start to internally panic, but I quickly come up with a solution. I have my Israeli passport back at home, I can go grab that and take the next flight out. Everyone agrees that, that is acceptable, and my flight is changed to later that day. I make the trek from O'hare back to downtown, go to my apartment, get my passport and head back to the airport. I excitedly show the same attendant my Israeli passport, and guess who creep ups behind her. The blonde giant. Again, she snatches the passport out of her hand, flips through it, looks at me and says "yeah sir you won't be flying today, not with this passport." Well by now I'm just in shock, I don't know what to say anymore. There was a 1cm tear on one of the passport pages. This was apparently grounds to send me back home, again. But then I decided to get creative. I took my passport's to the TSA office, found the head honcho and asked him if he would have any scruples about letting me through, and onto my flight with either my ratty or good passport's. He said that they were both fine; had I only had my chewed up American, I'd just need a second form of ID for verification which I of course had. So I decide to bring him along with me to notify the AA GM that she is being incredibly unreasonable. Before he can even get a word out, she turns bright red and starts screaming at both of us. She threatens to call the cops on me, tells me that I should be thankful that she's protecting myself and everyone else from terrorists by not letting me on the plane, she threaten's to cancel my ticket, and to also charge me the difference for having to move to a later flight. Well then I walk away, there's nothing left I can do. Apparently I'm a dangerous atheist jew w/ a beard whose hell bent on keeping her from protecting her country. So I go downstairs to the carrousels, sit on the phone with AA booking for an hour and finally convince them to rebook me a flight for the morning--keep in mind blondey all together canceled my booking--as long as I was aware that I could get turned away once again. Well, I trek back to downtown to chill at home for a while, head back to the airport a few hours later, and make it through check-in and security like it's nobody else's business. 7hr flight to London. 6hrs worth of a travel time between downtown Chicago and O'Hare. On 9/23/19 My wife and I had a flight to Mobile al.departing at 8pm. It was cancelled with no reason given. I was sent an email and text at 6:29pm that we were being rerouted to Mobile thru Dallas Tx on a flight that left at 5:58 thirty minutes before we received the Text. We were given a hotel voucher for the night and (1) one $12 meal voucher each for (3) Three meals Dinner on 9/23 and Breakfast and Lunch on 9/24 as our new flight was at 1250 on 9/24. We could not eat off of Mc'donalds dollar menu for that. Dinner on 9/23 was 49.78 plus tip. Our Breakfast was 18.56 plus tip Lunch. Our lunch at the airport was 34.98 plus tip. No alcohol was consumed as we are not consumers of alcohol. I also have to pay an additional parking day at Mobile $10. We had 3 tickets to a Paw Patrol concert in Mobile to take our grandson $ 67 each. It took place at 10am the time we were still in Charlotte waiting for our 12:50 pm rescheduled flight. The real issue is trying to explain to a 3-year-old he did not get to see Paw Patrol a show he had been anxiously awaiting because a company has to pay their CEO 12 million dollar a year and some bean counter figured out a way to save a few dollars at the inconvenience a few passengers. My wife is handicapped and had to go thru TSA check again. The extra time standing is very hard on her as she has had back and knee surgery. She also suffers from mental health issue anxiety related and her medicine was on our checked bags as she only had enough on her carry on for the day. There were 2 earlier flights that we were not given an opportunity to book that because I had booked this flight with points which obviously affected the rebooking options. It should be noted that the points used were from being a loyal American Airline customer in the past. I must emphasize from the past as I will only fly American as a last resort in the future. When we arrived at Mobile a day late our luggage was not on the plane. The counter clerk in Mobile was a poorly trained employee that could not determine where our bags were. She provided a 1 800 # and we reported our bags delayed/lost. After I call the number provide it was determined our bags were in the Mobile airport. We were told they would be delivered after 6:30 pm as that was the last delivery run of the day. The next Day Wednesday 9/25 I again called about our bags. I was told they were in Mobile airport and they would call when the lost baggage office opened. There is not a lost baggage office for AA in the airport only Delta has an office to address lost baggage on site. The personal at the ticket counter handle lost bag status as there are employees there at 5:30 am to handle the 4 flights that leave before 10am. I guess multitasking is not a skill required of your employees. Again, I was told my bags would be delivered that day. At 5:30 pm I called again praying my bags would make the 6:30 run but they did not. My bags were finally delivered at 11am CST after calling again Thursday morning. I first tried to file a complaint thru your website. The first attempt I was timed out as I was composing the complaint. I logged on again and this time there was a character limit on your complaint. I am very disappointed that we were used to increase your corporate profits as plane was probably cancelled due to not enough ticket sold to maximize your profit. Just glad everything goes good for your 12 million Dollar CEO. Total additional cost to us a senior citizen living on a fixed income is $290.32. Have a blessed day. First, and without any forewarning to me, a major change was made to my flight leaving on 5/31 from MEM. I was supposed to leave at 5:03PM, the flight was changed to 9:03AM on a different flight. Had I not caught it, it would have been a major inconvenience for me. Not only that, but then I was told "I" would have to pay an additional $200+ if I wanted to switch to a different flight that would leave later in the afternoon. That is complete BS. I didn't ask for the flight change, AA did that. To make matters worse, when I tried to explain the situation to the customer service rep who had a very heavy foreign accent, I finally had to hang up because I couldn't understand a word out of his mouth. I then called the agency through whom I had originally planned the trip. Had it not been for them, I would've had to pay for a change I did not request to get, a flight at least closer to my original departure time. Second, AA has the policy that you can take "2 Items" onto the plane with you but one must be stored under the seat in front of you and the other in the compartment above your seat, which I always do. There are also size constraints for the two items. The onboarding AA employee at the gate had requested several times that folks who had wheels on their luggage to please come forward to have their bag stored for free as there wasn't a lot of storage room on the plane. On my flight from Chicago O'Hare to Manchester NH, there were two young men who sat behind me who were upset with me because I put my laptop in the compartment above and and had starting saying things like, "she stored her "f-ing laptop when it should be under her "f-ing seat!" They continued these comments for several minutes. But what really upset me was, the Stewardess also gave me a hard time and wanted me to put the laptop under the seat in front of me but I couldn't, my purse was there. 1) the instruction was for "2 Items" of a particular size, not bags, purses or what have you, but "2 items, I followed the rules! Second, I had to listen to these two disgusting young men cursing and being extremely rude for better part of 15 minutes while the stewardess did nothing to calm them or help the situation. They were also very rude to an elderly man who mistakenly took the window seat assigned to them, the stewardess wasn't much help with that situation either so I asked the elderly gentleman what his seat number was, and resolved the issue for him. I have always used AA for my flights to/from TN but going forward, I will do my best NOT to ever use their service again. Those young men should have been corrected and weren't and I was made to feel embarrassed for doing the right thing. read more

Terrible Experience with American Airlines Mishandling of Luggage Ruined our Anniversary Trip I am writing this review to expressed my extreme disappointment and frustration with American Airlines mishandling up our luggage, which completely ruined our long anticipated anniversary trip to Jamaica. The way they handled the situation was absolutely unacceptable and left a lasting negative impact on our experience. To begin with, our luggage never arrived at our destination, despite assuredness from the airline that it would be delivered promptly. As a result, my husband and I were left without any clothing to wear for the entirety of our anniversary trip. We had to spend money to purchase swimwear, t-shirts and toiletries, but it was incredibly embarrassing and uncomfortable to be dressed in the same clothes for days on end, especially during special occasions and romantic dinners. The airlines failure to deliver our luggage had a significant impact on our enjoyment of the trip. Upon contacting American Airlines, we were appalled by their lack of concern and professionalism. He offered us Amir $434.15, and a $200 flight credit as compensation for the entire trip, which is an insult, considering the income is in distress we endured. This amount is far from sufficient to cover the cost of replacing our belongings and the emotional toll it took on us. To make matters worse, we received our luggage only one day after returning home. This further exemplifies, the airlines and competence in this regard for their customers needs. By the time we received our belongings, it was too late, and the damage it already been done. Our anniversary trip, which was supposed to be a joyous and memorable occasion, turned into a nightmare. I strongly advise against using American Airlines for any future travel plans. The mishandling of our luggage, lack of empathy, and an adequate compensation has left a deeply disappointed and disillusioned. We expect better service from a reputable airline, especially when it comes to handling such crucial aspects of travel. Just now I called (855) 932-2.O.1.9 ^^@ @^^1 866 335 0678 A gentleman asked me my GOOD NAME! I sighed, I have only one name that is as good as it gets :-) I was telling him that the Al-Fursan was so slow that I couldn't do online check-in and select seats. He was kind of hard to understand. I had to speak same thing twice, that didn't bother me at all but what bothered me is he put me on a MUTE and had the phone on call for 7 minutes, and finally hung up. American Airlines, You definitely need some good mannered customer care people on the phone. A positive mind with good action takes a company to winning ovation. I am writing to formally express my deep disappointment regarding the conduct of a flight attendant during my recent flight with [American Airline] flight number [Flight #3228][05/20/2025] From the beginning of the flight, the attendant in question displayed a dismissive and unprofessional attitude toward me, which stood in stark contrast to how they interacted with other passengers. When I politely asked for questions with seating or to use the bathroom in front , I was met with curt responses and visible irritation, while other passengers around me were treated with patience and courtesy. What was even more concerning was the pattern of behavior that strongly suggested racial bias. I noticed that passengers of a similar background to mine were repeatedly overlooked or treated with less respect, while others received warm, helpful service. This behavior made me feel marginalized, unwelcome, and deeply uncomfortable throughout the flight. Air travel should be a safe and respectful experience for all passengers, regardless of race or ethnicity. No one should have to endure discrimination, especially from airline staff whose role is to ensure comfort and safety. I urge the airline to look into this matter seriously. Training in diversity, inclusion, and basic customer service should be a non-negotiable standard for all employees, particularly those in direct contact with customers. I hope this feedback is taken seriously so that no other passenger has to go through a similar experience.
