Flew American on the way from Lexington to Charlotte. Due to this being a smaller airport, I don't think you're going to see any huge jets coming in and out of here (maybe during racing season). I will say, I haven't checked a bag coming into or leaving LEX, due to being in the area for a few days, so I can't say anything in regards to the staff at ticketing. Plane-wise, don't expect top of the line or brand spanking new, but the planes have been fine. I guess due to my shorter stature, I don't really notice not having a ton of leg room. I will say, I needed to gate check my carry on due to overhead/lack thereof for smaller planes, so that's a bit of a pain, when you just want to get off the plane. read more

Another excellent trip to and from LEX on AA! They have quick flights from LEX to CLT, where you can catch a flight nearly anywhere. The staff here at LEX was very friendly and the FAs were great, both coming in and departing. The planes were clean and very nice too! It's a quick flight from here to CLT, which was comfy and had a great pilot who kept us informed along the way. Highly recommend AA! read more

We bought tickets through a third-party, Priceline. When we realized that we accidentally booked our flight a day before our cruise docked, we called the helpdesk to see if there was anything that we could do. We were perfectly fine for them to let us know because we booked through a third-party that their tickets were nonrefundable and non-transferable. Our issue was with the completely unprofessional attitude of the lady my husband talked to and the way she said good luck before she hung up the phone. We were not rude to her, but she was excessively rude and smug with us, and that is terrible customer service in my opinion. read more

My mother is in her '70s and is new to flying. She was bought a ticket on American airlines supply from Lexington, Kentucky to Cleveland, Ohio. She got at the desk at 11:00 far flight that leaves 11:30. Yes, a little late I know but the airport was basically deserted. The lady behind the desk said there was no way she would be able to get on the flight. She said if she had checked in online and it wouldn't have been a problem and they could have got her. Couldn't get it and loaded her because she didn't. They couldn't. Even though it only took her a few minutes to check her at. The end result a woman 78 years old, had to sit in the airport for 5 hours to take another flight and then didn't arrive at our destination until 11:30 in Cleveland. It literally only takes 5 and 1/2 hours. Should you drive from Lexington to Cleveland. I'm so disappointed with American airlines. Honestly, I think they sold her ticket for space and made that crap up and made a poor old lady sit for 5 and 1/2 hours in an airport and then do a big long layover somewhere else. I know the exact same scenario happened a few months ago with Delta except they were very nice and there was no issues and she was able to board and everything right away. We won't make the mistake of using American Airlines again as obviously they are not friendly to elderly travelers who are not I savvy with technology. Long delay due to a rainstorm in Chicago. Then we get to sit for 30+ minuets on the tarmac waiting for our turn. Ok I get delays happen. The one star is for leg room. There is literally 8 to 9 inches from the front of my seat and the back of the next. It is the width of a closed magazine. This is literally the most physically uncomfortable flight in my life including little bush planes bouncing about Alaska. If at all possible, I will be avoiding American anyway possible. read more

We had an AA flight scheduled within the U S, but my wife came down with an illness that the physician dreamed to be high risk and recommended in writing to postpone any travel until she recovers . I called AA and spoke with a certain Walter, who said that they will not give us credit or reschedule the flight. He said that we will have to loose the amount charged for this flight. He was not rude but was unwilling to even consider any compromise. We also had an additional international flight scheduled through Delta and they very graciously rescheduled the flight for a later date. read more

American Airlines has frequently been in the news of late for varying reasons. While I usually select them (and Delta] as my carrier of choice, I've learned not to expect much from either airline. Airline travel has changed, and there's little enjoyment in it these days. I haven't been mistreated by staff in any way. Some have gone out of their way to be "nice". I always carry my own food. I've safely arrived to my destination and, frankly, that is all I care about. Everything else can be dealt with by our attitude as passengers. Most domestic flights are only a few hours. I had no idea that American Airlines ran this non stop flight to Dallas from Lexington, until I checked in and read the review that mentions that. No wonder why I scored my ticket to Austin so cheap. Booking was a breeze. I was tagging along on a business trip with my husband, so I booked separately. Shortly after booking, they changed the flight time, departing two hours before the initial scheduled time. No biggie. But the thing is, I never got an email about it, but my husband did. WTH?! Then 24 hours before departure, he got a checkin email, and I didn't. I was starting to feel left out. So I emailed them. Here we are, already departed, in Austin and I've yet to hear back from them. What if I hadn't been traveling with someone else and didn't know of the departure change? Tough luck, I guess. The lady at the check-in counter had a bit of an attitude when I told her that my boarding pass disappeared when they scanned it. She asked "who scanned it?" Really lady? TSA, just before I went through the scanner just like any other airport in the world. Who else would've scanned it?! I promise that I didn't say that though, I told you, she was the one with the attitude. The flight attendant made up for it though. He made conversation several times. I liked that part when he told me that the flight would be less than two hours long because we will be hauling ass, a bunch of asses. read more

This is the first time I've flown with American Airlines. And I promise you I will never fly them again. My flight was canceled, and couldn't be rebooked for two days later. It took 3 phone calls and over three hours to get my flight rebooked, but the worst part was the extremely rude flight attendants on my flight from Dallas back to Lexington. I was humiliated and harassed during my flight, and I've been flying my whole adult life and I've never experienced such horrible customer service during a flight! I sent 3 complaints to the online complaint department, with no resolution! I will not make this mistake again. Do yourself a favor and fly Delta. read more

It's been awhile since I've flown American, and to be honest, I don't know if I will again. I flew from roundtrip from Lexington to Orlando, with a stop in Charlotte. The plane between Charlotte and Lexington on both sides was operated by American Eagle. The seats on even the bigger plane weren't comfortable, and were squished together really tight. I paid almost $300 for a regional flight on a weekday, for an experience that felt like a budget airline. That's insane. This was accentuated by the fact that multiple times during each flight, we were subjected to a sales pitch trying to get people to sign up for their credit card. First, by a recorded message on the plane, then by the flight attendant on the intercom, and last by the flight attendants walking up and down the aisles waving the application in your face and repeating the same line about bonus miles. It was way more than excessive, and turned me away from American Airlines. They used to just make one announcement that If you were interested, see the desk in the terminal. That was understandable. Other than that, the Customer Service aspect was simply ok. AA used to be a respectable airline. They have some things to reevaluate. If they want to get back there. read more

Great RT ticket price Lexington, KY to Durham NC, stop in Charlotte. FORECASTED bad weather PRIOR to take off, on last return leg. Pilot announces he wanted to BEAT the front. What??!! Horrible turbulence and plane diverts to a regional airport. We get there..only plane & we're told plane is returning to Charlotte. But no flights for 1 1/2 days. Other option is we can disembark and "try" to get a rental car for the 4+ hour drive to Lexington, KY...hmmm? IF American Airlines would have put me up in a hotel for 2 nites and on another flight, taking another's seat that might have cost maybe $300?..seat & hotel..right.. but I had to work early Monday...I opted to rent a car..total with gas $100.. I sent in a request for reimbursement and a voucher, they reimbursed me $46.32. Cheapskates & wrong! Should have delayed or cancelled the flight in Charlotte so us passengers were not stranded with limited options. Will never fly with them again. read more

Flight delayed and can't get them on another flight. Lost day of honeymoon and lost day of income from lost days of work. They put them in hotel in Charlotte. Won't reimburse car rental. This is a very little operation run by very friendly and knowledgable staff. Only service is to Chicago and Dallas, but it is mostly reliable and only thing you have to worry about is the occasional lazy flight attendant that won't do the beverage service. read more

First of all they lost our baggage not once, not twice, but three times! The first time it was actually in the airport but took 20 minutes to figure out where. The 2nd time it never made the connecting flight and was stuck in Philly for a day. I was told to go back to the airport around midnight to get my bag but it was stuck in Charlotte at that point and had to wait another day to get it. The tag I had on it as a marker was busted off. The straightener I had in it was busted. Also the first flight we took back home went from Miami to Philly was delayed an hour and fifty minutes, because the captain forgot their "log book". Which made us almost miss our connecting flight back home to Lexington. Not to mention our connecting flight was on the other side of the airport. Thankfully there was a shuttle we could take but the shuttle took 5 minutes alone if that doesn't describe how massive that airport was. The flight we had from Charlotte to Miami was delayed due to weather, which is understandable. BUT after boarding we ended on waiting another hour for a caption, because they didn't think to have anyone ready to fly the plane before boarding it. All around a terrible flight experience and I legitimately paid the same amount of money for my seats on the flight that I did for the actual tickets. NOT to mention I got seats right next to my boyfriend and on every flight I had I was not seated next to my boyfriend. I never actually got the seats I paid for. Kinda disappointed honestly. read more
