I first went into American Art while I was in the Marine Corps. I had just come from another shop down the street where I was pretty much blown off by another artist when I described what I wanted. Discouraged, I walked into American Art expecting a similar response. When I was done describing the piece to the two artists who were in the shop they both told me that I would want to talk to Kyle(who is also the owner). One of the artists called Kyle on his cell phone and let me describe the piece over the phone. Kyle sounded really excited to design a huge, colorful, custom tattoo to take up my entire ribcage. I set up an appointment while I was there and showed up the next week for my first session. The scene that Kyle created completely exceeded my expectations in every way. This was the first of three 6-hour sessions in one of the most painful spots that I can remember. Despite how painful some tattoo spots can be I always have a blast when I am in the shop. The tattoo booths are kept behind a wall in the front of the lobby which creates a much more relaxing and private atmosphere while you are under the needle. In addition to the clean, relaxing vibe, all of the artists are very friendly and talkative which makes the experience all the more enjoyable. It has been over seven years since Kyle completed this masterpiece on my side and it still looks as fresh and clean as it did in the beginning. Since my first tattoo with Kyle I have not gone to any other artist. He is creative, intelligent, and most of all an amazing artist. Eventually after being tattooed by Kyle more times than I can count, I took my wife to the shop to begin her sleeve. Needless to say, she is also a lifetime customer now as well. I have since left the Marine Corps and live in Reno, NV. We have a sleuth of tattoo shops here, but after countless trips to American Art I couldn't even imagine sitting in a different tattoo chair ever again. When my wife and I have the time and money we plan a trip to Southern California from Reno to go get tattooed. People constantly stop us both and ask us where we got our tattoos done. I'm assuming they are expecting to hear a local shop in Reno, but instead I tell them about American Art down in So Cal. The most common compliments I hear refer to the ridiculous amount detail that Kyle puts into his work, and especially how much the color pops out and STAYS BRIGHT. It's been years since my introduction to American Art studio and I am looking forward to many more visits. read more

First and foremost I want to state that cavman Kyle is sexist. For years ive gone in and heard the most unhinged,abusive, abrasive, psychotic, sexist stuff coming out of his mouth. All while clients are there and he's working on them. I genuinely believe he hates women. Its very obvious. Its funny because he has one. Yet all he talks about is sexulizing women and its highly un-nerving and unsettling. He has done dirty a lot of people. Sure he has alot of awards..but not one of those awards is for a winning personality. Zero integrity. And honestly im surprised people havent spoken up about him yet. Ive walked out of there many times uncomfortable and extremely hurt and offended because he openly talks about SA, R*pe, m*rder, and just a bunch... he uses the excuse " dont come to a tattoo shop if you cant handle the convos" THERE IS 0 EXCUSE TO TALK ABOUT SEXUAL THINGS OR R*PE, OR MU*DER WHILE IN A WORKING ENVIRONMENT. Do NOT go here. Hes a skilled artist but its not worth it to go to him knowing how he treats women and talks about them in general. His view on life is actually disturbing. I have a snap of him talking about this stuff. I was with my friend and we did video of us and he was working on her. He knew I was filming as I stated I was. He also lies thru his teeth. Don't do any deals with him.. he will not live up to his end of the bargain. Many people have spoken up about that aspect of him. Avoid this man. Avoid this shop. I will say that there is a woman there who is amazing and is very respectful. Her name is Amy I believe. She always had bright hair. Very solid woman and is a genuine soul. She does piercings and I will only trust her with that. Shes highly professional and I dont trust anyone else with piercings. Anyways, Report him if you have been a victim of his sexist behavior or worse. Its not worth it. I dont doubt for one second there are women out there who have been a victim of his predatory behavior. read more

My tattoo was done by Caveman Kyle, I was refereed by a good friend of mine. Kyle is an awesome guy. He was VERY patient and kind, since this was my second tattoo(first from Kyle). Kyle surprised me on how big my artwork was on my thigh. I fell in love with the picture and as he was working on me he was very sweet to let me take a few breaks and as for him. I love the colors he adds to make the tattoo pop out, which is important when you are getting a tattoo. When it finally came time for my tattoo, he was a very cool dude. I would recommend him highly. All the guys there were very cool, very chill and laid back. I would recommend this place to others, everything was very clean and they took the correct precautions. After 7 hours in the chair for my tattoo, Kyle explained to me how important it was for everything to be absolutely clean. His tattoo shop is the cleanest you will ever see in Twentynine palms. It was a wonderful experience. I will be back for more and I would only trust Kyle and the other tattoo artist in his shop, there all awesome and great people to chat with. My one year mark is about to hit since I got my tattoo and I still get compliments like it he just inked me yesterday. If you don't see Kyle and his other crew the you guys are crazy he does awesome work. His work is one of a kind and you can't find that in another shop. My first Tattoo was done here by Jodean Sinner on 1/22/14 My very first tattoo and I was nervous, scared and unsure of tattoo placement. Jen was amazing! Understanding and nothing but relaxed. She reassured me from the moment I walked in, without making me feel pressured. She listened to my irrational fears of what could go wrong ( I was that nervous) and explained everything from the pain I would feel to the fingers moving because of the needle going over the tendons. We chatted and joked with everyone while I was deciding on where to get the tattoo. (She even offered to place the sketch on the two locations I was considering) There was no rush and it was like I've known them for years. She has the patience of a Saint. She did amazing on my tattoo and it came out beautifully. I've gotten complements on how clean it is. After walking out of the tattoo shop, she came running out with the sketches on paper in case I wanted to scrapbook them. The whole experience has been amazing. The people were great, professional, knowledgeable and friendly. American Art is now my go to place for all my future tattoos and Jen is my go to girl for the tattooing. LOVE this place! read more

My friends and i were looking to get some new tattoos. One of my friends told me about American Art Stdio so i decided to check it out and man was i blown away by all the Art and talented artist at this shop. As soon as i walked in the door i was greeted with a friendly hello. I could also see how clean this shop was compared to some of the other shops in town (top notch, par a dice). i knew what i wanted to get but i didn't have a picture with me, they said not a problem they would draw anything up for me. i sat down with Caveman Kyle and told him what i wanted and he started right away on drawing it up for me. As i was waiting i was looking threw his portfolio and knew i was at the right place his color is amazing and he can pretty much do anything like black and grey, portraits, traditional and many more. he came back with the drawing and it was exactly what i wanted. American Art Tattoo studio is by far the best tattoo studio in town! It's the shop that's located at 5867 adobe road. The shop is always super clean and there has always been someone there to greet me. I have been getting tattoos by CavemanKyle for quite sometime now (my first was 2004) I got a nurse Betty Boop and she still looks brand new! Caveman Kyle has always made sure I was comfortable and has provided me with some great tattoo therapy. I have come in so many times and gave him general ideas of what I was wanting to get tattooed and every time Kyle has drawn me up exactly what I was anticipating. From the moment I stepped foot into American Art Studio I felt welcomed and comfortable. Every member of the team is on point, down to earth and eager to answer any questions. I have had three pieces done there and I will never go anywhere else. I have six tattoos and a lot of experience with shops. This is by far the cleanest shop I have ever been to. My husband and I always leave pleased with the work. My comfort level before during and after is always a priority. A very family feel. The healing process is always fast. The end product is just a amazing if not better after the healing is done. I have never had such great results. I am constantly getting compliments on the work. Huge shout out to American art and American made I have been going to these shops for 5yrs now had my first wrist piece by John still looks as great as the first day,I also have work from Jodean a small crown on my wrist, last but not least I am working on a 3 quarter sleeve by caveman Kyle huge bold flowers all color can't wait to get back in there and get some more!!! For there piercing I got my lip pierced by Dave I was nervous because I had already has it pierced once at another shop and they didn't use a long enough stud which sunk into my lip and Dave was great made it fast and painless!!! I will be going to theses shops for all my tattoos. The biggest thing I think is to make sure u have a connection with your artist, and there is one for every personality love love love these shops!!! read more

Don't know where to start! You walk in and instantly can see and smell how clean the place is! You're always greeted by someone with good manners and usually a smile, in which whom ever is there is more than eager to help with any questions anyone could have. For the prices you can't find that quality of work anywhere else for that price. Of course crappier artist charge lower amounts, that's because they don't have the experience or even half the awards anyone of the artist there have. I have been in many Marine towns and never got a tattoo until I met the crew of American Art Studio, there artistic ability and willingness to work with and for their clients is unmatched. My sister and brother in law introduced my husband and I to Caveman Kyle a few years ago. When we first came to the shop and walked in, I was amazed at how clean it was. The art covering the walls was diverse and beautiful. I explained to Caveman Kyle exactly what I wanted, but I also wanted him to add his own perspective, which he did. It came out beautiful. Not to mention Caveman Kyle is pretty much one with his machine. He conducted himself with pristine professionalism and even made sure the music playing was not offensive. American Art Studio is an incredibly professional, clean and welcoming tattoo shop. Not only are their employees helpful but they make you feel like family when you enter the shop. I have moved away from 29 Palms but will be making the drive for my next tattoo. My tattoos are just as bright and colorful as they were right when they healed and some are over 7 years old! I am constantly getting stopped and asked about my tattoos and I keep a stack of American Art Studio cards in my purse and car so I can recommend this wonderful shop. Absolutely love American Art! The only place I have gone to get a tattoo and will ever go to get a tattoo. My artist is Jen Brazil and she is simply amazing. If you're looking to get work done go to American Art, they know what they are doing. This place in my opinion is the best out there, from the artist to the experience. My Husband and I looked long and hard for a good tattoo place out here. We love tattoos, so we needed a good place to go. My friend babysat for one of the artist's Daughter and we were told to check it out. Through looking online at all the shops in town we both liked this shop. My Husband has gotten two tattoos here, I have gotten one so far from here, and my Husband's buddy got two of his done here. I can speak for all of us when I say we love it here and wouldn't go anywhere else! Many many more tattoos will be done for us from this shop. This is our second visit to American Art Studio and I am very pleased with every aspect of my visit. The staff are awesome. The establishment is very clean. When I arrived it smelt clean fresh which I really liked. While I was sitting watching my husband get tattooed another person had just finished getting their tattoo and immediately the cleaning started...sanitizing every part of the chair and equipment used. I've been going to the art studio for years and have had some major pieces done there and have never had one complaint with any of them. There's always a friendly atmosphere and the place is always flawless. I give the shop much respect love all my ink.
