Thanks to the yelpers out there I found an honest straight forward mechanic. John at american automotive fixed the power steering in my truck. He was very proffesional. He showed me the parts that were causing the problem. I also asked him to change the plugs too, after he looked at them he said they did not need to be replaced. He finished the work the next day and so far every thing seems to be working great now. It's so hard to find honest mechanics these days. I too would recomend these guys. read more

Yesterday morning, my SUV started running janky and the "Service Engine Soon" light came on..I knew it was time to take it in. In a panic, I searched yelp for somewhere near where I was and near my work. Thankfully, you fellow yelpers helped me find a great shop to take my ailing car. I took it in in the morning and John diagnosed the problem based on what the car's computer told him was wrong. He told me what he expected to repair and two scenario's and both of their corresponding prices. He also said it should be no problem to be done by the time I was off of work. True to his word, the price was as expected, the work was as expected, and the timing was perfect. You really can't ask for much more. I was very happy with my experience (even though car fixes are never fun or happy moments with unexpected expenses). Nonetheless I would definitely go there again. We've been taking our family cars here, an SUV and a Minivan for several years now. So many car dealerships and service centers try to nickel-and-dime their customers with unnecessary procedures and overpriced services. Other places offer amenities like Free Wi-Fi and coffee but with a large markup on their services. I'm glad to say you won't find anything like that here! We've been seeing John for our needs several years now and he has always been fair and to-the-point when it comes to our car repairs. Spending money on car repairs isn't pleasant, but how fair they are here is very refreshing. I like how they take the time to explain their findings, and the subsequent actions done to mediate the problem. They've even showed me the worn out parts they'ved replaced! I LOVE these guys. After being royally screwed over by a well known dealership (I dare not post the name, because they are such thieving scumbags - they might actually try to sue me), I was referred to American Automotive by the tow truck driver. This was my THIRD tow, in as many months, to the aforementioned thieving scumbag dealership that was screwing me over. After nearly $4000 worth of engine repair (I'm NOT making this up), that they assured me was absolutely necessary, my truck still would not run. You know what the tow truck driver told me? DON'T TAKE YOUR TRUCK THERE ANYMORE - THEY'RE A BUNCH OF THIEVES! Know what else the tow truck driver told me? GO TO AMERICAN AUTOMOTIVE - THEY WILL NEVER STEER YOU WRONG! So, I called American Automotive and they said to have the tow truck driver bring my truck right over. Then, guess what - THEY FIXED IT! Not only that - IT STAYED FIXED! WOW!!!! Plus, miracle of miracles, THEY DIDN'T CHARGE ME AN ARM AND A LEG! These guys are good and they're honest. I was told by a tire dealership that I needed something done to my truck and they offered to make the repair. I told them "NO" - just put the tires on. I took it to American Automotive for the repair. Guess what - they said there was nothing wrong with my truck, it didn't need the repair. WHAT???????? :-O Then they offered to check the fluids.
