I had a great experience with Oldsmar Automotive this week. I was dealing with a frustrating issue where my car wouldn't start even after replacing the battery, and I was worried it might be something expensive like the alternator. They took a look and found the actual problem quickly; turned out to be a loose positive battery cable & and fixed it right away. They were honest, didn't try to upsell me, and didn't even charge me for the repair. It's not easy to find a mechanic you can trust, and I really appreciate their integrity and professionalism. My family moved to Palm Harbor mid October and shortly after my wife's Corolla started squeezing really bad when it started. We got an appointment dropped it off. The alternator was bad and the serpentine belt needed to be replaced. They took care of it all and it was great service and a very reasonable price. A couple weeks later I needed some brake work done, oil change and tire rotation and there was a noise when I would accelerate. I made an appointment to drop it off at 9 am and at 1245 they called to let me know it was done. They replaced all rotors and pads, adjusted the parking brake, oil change and tire rotation and replaced the serpentine belt since it had cracks in it. I guess at 293,000 miles it was time to change the belt on the Camry! . Justin is a great guy and offers quality service and is very friendly and professional! I brought my SUV in for a power steering fluid flush, since I had just had a new rack and pinnion installed by Tires Plus. I told Alex I would wait and he got it in within minutes. If I could give them no stars I would. Brought my car in for a water pump and they said whoops we ordered the wrong parts and have to keep your car overnight. I said oh boy . Well now with the pump in my car sounds like an old jalopy( makes a siren type shrill) I just knew they did something wrong and think I'm going to be their money purse. Not taking it back. Worst repair shop ever !!! We had our car there early afternoon on a Monday, the were just going to hook it up to diagnostic & tell us what was wrong with the vehicle & see if they could fix it. It sat that for 4 days total!! when we called on Wednesday said we were next in line, on Friday called & to much work for them to fix come get your car. don't waste your time or money with this business!!! read more

Honest Repair Shop. Think about this for a minute. That is HUGE. I have been here for repair multiple times and in at least 3 cases, they could have told me there were bigger problems but instead, I was only charged for a minimal repair. I drive 20 minutes out of my way to come here and won't even consider going to another mechanic. They also repaired an issue with my check engine light, when another shop said I would have to replace my ECU, Please, do your self a favor......save time and frustration.....take your car here whatever the issue. read more

Saved me $800. I had taken my truck to Christian Bros (CB) for PO128 error code - ac not running cold and check engine light. Was told $1200 plus $150 diagnostic fee (already told them the error code). CB said I needed new thermostat sensor and thermostat but parts weren't available, so drove home to wait for parts. Truck completely broke down 24 hrs later and towed to Oldsmar Automotive. Fixed the faulty intake valve for $400. 1 month later - truck runs great with ice cold ac and didn't lose $1200 for thermostat. Do not go here. I went in for a $30 oil change and a $65 diagnostic for AC. They charged me for refrigerant and that wasn't the problem. Still no AC and out $215. That's an expensive oil change. read more

The engine in my Genesis Coupe needed to be replaced after Hyundai worked on my car and would not honor their shoddy work. I went to Oldsmar Automotive as had used them years back and was very happy with them. It turned out that there was a new owner of the business, but I left my car while I went on a 3 week vacation anyway. The engine did not arrive while I was gone and they had no issue with keeping the car for 3 weeks. When it finally arrived 2 days after returning, they installed the new engine same day. Justin was amazing and extremely honest, which is rare when dealing with auto shops. Brian did the engine install and knocked it out of the park. He was very thorough and explained to me the things I had asked about in full detail. The price was within a few dollars of what I was told it would be and the car runs like new. FAST, ACCOMADATING SERVICE The check engine light in my Infiniti came on at 6:15 pm Monday evening. I had it scanned at Discount Auto Parts and after looking up code on internet, determining it was a bad sensor (their basic scan machine could not pin point exact sensor but that it could cause sudden engine stalling), I did not feel comfortable making the drive to Ocala. I had used this shop for two minor maintenance issues prior and had a good feeling about them. I met them at the door at 7:45 Tuesday morning, explained the urgency, and after checking their work log and local availability of correct "cam sensor" (which they were able to determine with their advance scanner on the spot), they agreed they could have the repair complete by 10 am so I could make my Ocala appointment. At 9:45 my car was complete. I was impressed their was no diagnostic charge, the shop labor rate was only $85.00, and I was out the door for $156.00 (including tax). I did not expect to be out for less than $300.00 based on internet information. Without question, this local, independent business has earned all my car repair needs going forward and I will spread the word of their excellent pricing and customer service. Bill V read more

DO NOT COME HERE!!! Unless you want your car fixed just for it to break again. They changed my tires rotaries and breaks incorrectly where my break line was rubbing on my tires for a month until it snapped while I was in traffic and almost got in 2 accidents from them with my children. I had to go to another place for them to fix it and when I went to them and asked for my money back they said I got ripped off at the other place and I would only pay for what they charged me originally. I got ripped off because they did not do their job correctly. Another $311 later after paying them 1400 too fix my breaks originally. DO NOT COME HERE!!!!! I DID NOT ASK FOR MY BREAK LINES TO BREAK TWICE ESPECIALLY WITH MY CHILDREN IN THE CAR. read more

Brought my 1998 Jeep Cherokee in for what I thought was a lower radiator hose leak but was told it was a broken Radiator and that it was going to cost $600 parts and labor.I agreed thinking they where honest and asked to change the oil while there. I arrived at 8:00am and the car wasn't ready until 2:00pm. Upon leaving that Friday evening I had a feeling something wasn't right but it was dark so I waited til the next morning. I opened my hood to check the oil to see if it was clean and low and behold it was 2 quarts low and the original filter on the car. On Monday morning I questioned the owner first about the overcharge of the parts as a radiator for my truck from an auto parts store is around $120 they charged me $260 so they made a huge profit on that and 2 hrs labor which I believe was excessive as well, when I questioned it he said we will not install parts from an auto parts store due to insurance purposes and every shop in Florida is like that meanwhile the lady that was in the shop with me had asked the owner if she could go to the junk yard for a part that was hard to find and wasn't told that. Then when I questioned why the oil wasn't changed he actually said to me I never asked to have the oil changed. When I showed him that I was charged he then said oh we must have forgot the shop was busy....really!!!! So I asked him for a refund of the oil change as he lost my trust. He gave me back the money for the cost of oil but when I asked him to see the parts of course I knew his answer they where thrown out! At this point I'm not even sure if it really was the radiator to be honest! Most likely the lower Hose but it was dark when it failed I couldn't see it. Please stay away from this shop they are taking advantage of people who don't know any better mostly with the cost without a doubt and in my case without changing parts, and from the looks of it finagling ways to increase prices and get away with it! My SUV started bucking all of a sudden near Oldsmar Automotive. Being my first visit, I was worried about trusting their experience, fair pricing, and pushing parts I didn't need. After diagnosing my SUV, they said an engine flush should be all it needs, if not they listed a couple of parts I may need. The next day, after my engine flush, they said it fixed the problem, and I only needed 1 additional part. They could have 'taken me for a ride', but they were very fair and the price was so much better than other shops in the area. They were even able to resolve a sensor issue that the dealership said wouldn't be 'cost effective' to troubleshoot. Oldsmar automotive was able to resolve the issue in one day.
