Whoever drives cab 5047 is an unsafe driver and SHOULD NOT be allowed to drive let alone for a cab company. This person crossed 3 lanes of traffic, almost sideswiping my car! He didn't even attempt to go back into his lane and just kept going! They drove erratically in the lane going into oncoming traffic. While at the stop light I could see he was on his cell phone. It's an older man driving the vehicle. He sped off as soon as the light turned green, again crossing multiple lanes of traffic. I called the operator but just be forewarn do not get in the car with this person & the company should fire him! Also report to DMV, his license needs to be removed. Looks like there are photos of this cab from a previous experience in Capitola. Maybe that's a sign that this person shouldn't be driving. Probably should've reported it to SJPD. read more

The first taxi company I called was booked, so they referred me to this business. The driver, Sher, came right on time and was very courteous. I schedule a time for him to bring me back home, but shortly before the departure time, the nurse told me that my health plan would give me a free taxi voucher. I was almost run over by one of their cabs. Driver chose to move from hov lane into the side of my car in fast lane and as I quickly reacted into the right lane he continued to push towards me. I was exiting next exit and he then changed lanes again without looking and slammed on his brakes causing three of us other drivers to have to maneuver. They advertise themselves as Yellow Cabs Co. in Sunnyvale. This is a -1 star for them, as they are trying to impersonate the much popular Yellow Taxi in Sunnyvale. Called them from a Yellow Cab Co. visiting card which advertised fixed fares from the airport. Got a booking for a friend from SJC to Sunnyvale for 29$. The driver (as my friend mentioned) was abusive, and kept abusing someone on his phone all the while. As my friend reached my place, the driver asked him for 37$. I mentioned to the driver about my discussion on phone with their company agreeing for a flat rate of 29$. On which, he tried to call up a couple of people in vain, and in the end asked me to pay what I wanted to. Wrote a receipt for 30$, took the money rudely, and drove away. Per our experience today, American Cab's Driver 5047 recklessly speeds; tosses passengers to and fro like abandoned luggage on the Titanic; tailgates at 70 mph in heavy traffic on 101 North; and, in a rush to kill us, impulsively changes freeway lanes without looking or signaling. This requires him to make sudden, panicked, jerking, hiccup swerves back into his lane to avoid horrific, cascading accidents. He hears humorous and kindly rider requests to please slow down, followed by urgent commands to not tailgate slow down so he can blithely mutter to himself while nervously drumming his fingers from an inner agitation. He blows red lights as if they're decorations. Traffic lanes are inconveniences to be ignored by whim. 5047 makes CRIMINALLY RECKLESS, NEGLIGENT, INCOMPETENT, UNSKILLED, AND LETHAL DRIVERS look like model citizens. Being in his cab was like being in all-day long plane crash. After he, perhaps by accident, delivered us to our destination, I said to Driver 5047: "Sir, you are a terrible and unsafe driver. I asked, then told you to slow down. You kept speeding and tailgating." He replied, "How old do you think I am?" I said it didn't matter and paid the fare. I told him that I give great tips, but not for bad, unsafe driving. He replied, "No tip?" He looked at the money. "No tip?" he said again. I repeated my statement. He pointed up at the heavens and said something unintelligible, smiling. Recognizing the threat to public safety, I called the American Cab dispatcher. This individual INSTANTLY KNEW THE BAD DRIVER I DESCRIBED. I detailed 5047's hideous and potentially lethal Penal Code and safety violations. Dispatcher: "Thank you, and I apologize. You know, he's pretty old." Me: "All the more reason why you should pull his license today. I'm a senior citizen, too, but when I drive, I follow the rules of the road. Sir, I'm never riding American Cab again, so this is free customer advice: you already knew he might be too old and that he's a bad driver. He's a threat to humanity, to his customers, and everyone within a 3 mile radius of his future pancaking pile-up on 101. He's a half-million-to-ten million dollar liability risk to your business. For your employees, your bottom line, and your future, pull his license, now. I'm recording my complaint against you on Yelp. For whatever reasons that you've kept him this long, the danger he poses to others isn't worth it." The dispatcher thanked me again. Caveat emptor, friends. I called this company thinking I was scheduling a ride with Yellow Cab Taxi Airport Company (a taxi service with 5 stars on Yelp). The number listed on the Yelp page is apparently incorrect. I was very surprised and confused when the taxi pulled up with the American Cab sign on the roof. Got reprimanded by the driver several times because I didn't pick up the driver's calls 20 minutes before the scheduled pick-up even though I had asked the dispatcher twice to have the driver text me not call me since I would be unable to answer phone calls. I tried to explain the situation but he still wouldn't drop it. Told the driver to tack a few dollars onto my fare for a tip (because I am nice and always tip) and he added the tip plus an extra dollar. Nice. At least I made my flight, but I definitely won't be using this company again. read more

Never using this service. Driver (supposed name was Harry) was extremely rude and kept running up the meter. His excuse was "he's new to the area." THERES A FREAKING GPS RIGHT IN FRONT OF YOU. I called the American cab and their driver came, i entered in the cab and he started yelling on me as he could not find my address. He started shouting and i was so scared. He was very much indecent and was using abusing language.He has got the correct address and he was new to this area but he has no right to shout on the customer. We used this cab to pick us up from an international flight in San Jose Airport. The cab driver insisted he was told to go to Terminal B ( not A) and called 3 times yelling at me that " I am here and you are not" each time becoming more and more abusive. As he got madder, his English, which was not good, got worse. By the time I figured out that he was at the wrong terminal, he had me in tears!
