(update below) DANGER! (these guys test for hazardous and…read moretoxic materials) Everyone makes mistakes, and I wouldn't fault them at all if they had taken responsibility for their mistakes & worked to immediately to rectify them. To the contrary, it seems like they tried to disguise and cover up their lab mixup--but we are talking about ARSENIC, and that is gambling with my children's lives. Considering that the well-water inspection costs over $600, customers should be able to expect competence and a strict chain of custody regarding their samples. I had my water tested at 2 points: directly from the well source & after it passed through the reverse osmosis filter. The next day I received an email saying arsenic was found. I called and asked which water source tested for arsenic, and Stephanie told me there was only one sample & it read "kitchen sink" (which would be past the R/O system). I told her I had submitted 2 samples, and she insisted there was only one. Then I called the inspector who had come out to retrieve the samples. He assured me that he had submitted two but that they must have "just mixed them up." He called the lab and then called me back and said they did receive two samples and were just confused. I then called Stephanie back & she told me that she was reading the wrong file earlier when we spoke & that the water was from the well and not the kitchen sink but that the kitchen sink sample hadn't been tested for arsenic yet and that the rest of the "full spectrum" test hadn't been carried out on the well water yet. It would take 4 days more (*note). I corrected her and said, "you mean 'full spectrum' on the 'kitchen sink' sample--as I requested--right"? She said, "no we're doing that on the well sample." I objected, on the grounds that it would make no sense to test the well but not the R/O system (otherwise, how could we know if our drinking water was safe). Then she replied, "do you want us to test the sink? I can ask if there's still enough of the sample left." I objected again: "'Enough of the sample'?? You said the kitchen sink hasn't been tested yet, and that it was the well sample that was tested." She seemed to completely not understand all of the contradictions she was making, and said, "I think they probably still have enough of the sample." It's impossible to know which sample she's talking about, but either way they'd BETTER still have enough, since: A: they originally (mistakenly) planned to run the "full spectrum" test on the well sample, so if it is true what she said about the arsenic result coming from that sample, they should have saved enough to still run the rest of the "full spectrum." B: if it's true what she said about the arsenic result coming from the well sample and that they haven't tested the "kitchen sink" sample yet, why would they not "still" have enough of the sample left to test? They haven't even touched it yet according to her. *note: it's now been 7 days. I called today; she said they're still not ready and that it'll take until tomorrow. She came up with an excuse about why it hasn't really been seven days yet, because their weekend testing is "for city customers only." (Then why did you have me pay for the expedited service??) In sum: these guys are a total irresponsible disaster full of contradictions (note 2) and excuses; I have no way of knowing which sample was really tested (if it was even one of my samples at all). And having been caught in the midst of incompetence, I have no way to trust that whatever they eventually tell me isn't just some result from a sample they re-filled from their own tap to disguise their mistakes and incompetence. My experience with this sham of a lab was a complete waste of money, since their incompetence made it impossible to trust that the results actually come from my samples (if and when they are ever delivered to me). I will have to spend another $600 to have the water re-sampled and tested by a competent lab, and I'll also have to try to renegotiate my house contract to allow me a longer inspection period because of this debacle. Arsenic and other deadly water contaminants are not something we can gamble on our children's lives on. *note 2 (another nutty contradiction when I called today for an update): she first said, "I'm sorry, I'm not allowed to discuss your results with you directly. You'll get a report from the inspector when the results are done." Then I asked: "If you can't tell me my results directly, why did you email me last week saying that one of the samples tested positive for arsenic?" To that she replied, "Because the test was done already. The other tests aren't done yet." So which is it; she's not allowed to discuss them (even though she already did) or they're not done yet? update: very soon after writing this review, my results were suddenly complete and emailed to me. I wish I could have any confidence in them, but sadly I will have to get them all redone at additional expense

I wanted to give a review of the service that my family has had from Bay West. I am here to saw…read morethat these people are miriqual workers. On 8/10/25 I smelt what appeared to be gas at around 0600 hours. I was confused because I had not worked with anything requiring fuel. So after 30 minutes of contemplating on when I stepped in fuel I decided to look around my home. Checked upstairs nothing at all. Went downstairs and found that my homes old fuel storage unit had been leaking old heating oil from the 1980's. I rushed and cleaned up as much as I could. I looked all over and noticed that the outside pipe which let out vapors had rusted through completely and was now in my hand. I was buried several feet below ground outside next to the service pipe which was how they fueled the home when it burned oil for heating. I had my father and I looking for a company to help clean it up. We spent hours trying to find anyone. My dad found Bay West and it was the best decision we ever could have made. After calling literally 20 companies from google no one gave me any ideas except Bay West. When I called and explained what was wrong. There dispatcher sent me to Jim. Jim is the man. Jim is a man who took the time to explain everything in great detail. I never knew this who would cold calling someone but Jim worked for the state of Minnesota and knows what he is talking about. He walked me through step by step on how to handle this type of situation. Jim told me to contact the State duty officer who is the 911 for anything having to deal with pollution or environmental issues. I contacted the duty officers who typically deal with corporation's however I pleaded my case to have Bay West assigned to help clean this. They agreed that a company should come and I requested that Bay West do the job. Jim did not have to tell me this but he did. Jim told me that if I called Bay West that I would pay for it out of pocket up front. Then I could go to the state of Minnesota and get reimbursed for the cost to a percentage. Or I could call the state of Minnesota and the state would take care of it and then I would pay what the state did no cover. And for a bill that could reach medium 5 figures that was a no brainer. Jim sent out the message and the team came in and mapped out a plan of action. The State of Minnesota came out Jason who was amazing I spoke with Carly first took the information and then Jason came out and took note of what was going on. All of this was in the morning of Sunday. Happy weekend to us. When Jason was here he was met with Jim's team that he had sent out. It took a couple of hours from dispatch to arrival however that was expected due to it being an emergency call which everyone had to get the call get ready go to work get the plan of action set and then started on the job. I was impressed at their speed. The home smelt like a refinery and all but. It is what it is. They came over we walked through the plan and they started. It took a few hours of work they first had to empty the tank. Which looked like chocolate shake just much more foul smelling. I am guessing but they took out what looked to be around 500 gallons of sludge and muck and fuel. They saved my home from this toxic mess. They saved my father who has copd and is on oxygen and they saved myself also from there rapid response Brian John and Jim are the people I worked with. And honestly after the job they did and how they treated me like a family member. Anytime they need anything I am here for them. The reason for this message was due to there hard work. I am here to always recommend Bay West and everyone from my family will now trust them like family. Thank you all for what you had done. Without you I literally would have sold or destroyed this home. That was built in 1954. Thank you for saving my family's home. I will forever be in your debt. And a job that might cost me over 20,000 usd will now be something I can pay off with the help of the state. They cut out that tank and took it with them they cleaned the oil. They removed the oil, oil tank, and they sealed the piping from outside so nothing can come through it again.

TJ had not only the most competitive quote by a long shot, but they are the ONLY company I could find guaranteeing post-mitigation levels below 2.0. The EPA says you should consider mitigating with levels between 2.0-4.0, and every other company guarantees merely 2.7. That would have been enough, but Tom, John and the whole team (electrician Michael and test coordinator Sam) are also exceptionally kind and professional. They were utmost patient with me during my 11th-hour indecision about where the system should be placed, and patiently weighed the pros and cons with me. They were flexible with scheduling the post-test for when we were out of town so we could close the windows without baking. (We don't have A/C.) Our initial level was 5.7, their system got it down to 0.6. It is unintrusive and quiet. The only reason I can possibly see to use anyone else is that TJ Radon is booked over a month out. For good reason. If you can wait, you won't regret it.
