Specifically, my advice would be: A) Be sure your exact measurements are taken if ordering a custom-suit and that they don't just 'measure' you in comparison with existing jacket and pant fits. B) Be aware of and educated about suit-fit problems for when you try on and do not accept any suit that does not properly fit you! C) I'd recommend working with only the older gentleman who works here and seems to know what he's about. He helped us get our issue fixed and I have an inkling our problems wouldn't have happened in the first place had we left the store that first day and come back when he was there. Too bad he probably can't be there all the time. We had a good experience renting a tux here in the past, so when it was time to look for something for our wedding went to this store thinking we'd have a similarly positive experience. We decided to purchase a suit as something special for our wedding and for professional and dress events in the future. The sales rep suggested a custom suit where an off-the-rack would be 'free'. He spent a lot of time with my fella looking at the off-the-rack suits and picking out one that was eligible that he liked and had him trying on all sorts of options. He also was supposed to have taken measurements for the custom-suit, something I am not sure ever occurred (or at least not in the detail needed). The custom suit and off-the-rack suit came in weeks later and we went to try on. We realized the 'custom' jacket was made with comically wide shoulders that raised the entire jacket up and away when arms were slightly raised and which dimpled off to the sides. (Have you seen that suit jacket David Byrne wears in Stop Making Sense? Think a much-reduced version of it but in that vein.) I immediately told them I thought the jacket looked very wrong and the staff there questioned me, saying "all suits are like this" and "you'll never find a suit where you can perfectly raise your arms." When I did not relent, they told us when their tailor would be in and could look at the fit for a second opinion. We left, and panic about this large purchase began to set in. Research about jacket construction and fit issues indicated to me that the shoulders had been made too wide and the armholes placed too low - a common issue in off-the-rack suits but which should NOT be present in a custom-fitted jacket. The tailor took one look at the jacket and agreed that it did not fit. We again, refused to take the suit as-is but were told they would contact us about options. Later that week we got a call to come into the store again for measurements. Turns out, the original person who measured (who appeared to be supervised during this process by another manager) had not documented all the necessary measurements but had instead noted which off-the-rack jackets and pants fit ok and then used those specifications for the custom suit order. This still boggles my mind. However, trip #4 measurements were taken again and a new jacket ordered. Trip #5 and 6 came weeks later when the 'fixed' jacket arrived and pant hems could be done. This time the fit was better and, mostly so I could stop having stress dreams about it, we accepted the order along with the off-the-rack suit which suffers from the same shoulder + arm fit problems and was not made according to the back flap specifications we requested. We also found out during this time that the 'coupons' (2 for $25) we expected to possibly use for his shoes or shirt or a tie would not be be sent to us until the order they messed up was finalized.Just beware and do your research on fit problems before placing an order for or accepting a suit order here.

Plus, she can order designer dresses and has a huge stock to try on. The floor model gown I selected was PERFECT. Although it was too large, not a problem . . . their expert seamstress tailored that gown to fit me like a glove for $130. So, for $230, my dress made me look like a million bucks. I went to JoAnn Fabrics and picked up veil tulle and made my own elegant veil for $35. The whole thing was perfect. Do not make the mistake I did and look everywhere else. Save time and gas money. Go to Bridals by Philvens and get a top quality gown without going into unnecessary wedding debt . . . you won't be sorry . . . Venus (the owner) is the absolute best! She is helpful, informative, professional, and such a sweetheart. She is the real deal, and I'm so glad I found her! All 3 employees (even the guy who told me and the other person who took me, the bullshit that I could return them) all went into a back room - to discuss it and then told me me I couldn't return them. They were not damaged in any way. No store credit either, so I'm stuck with a $ 182.00 pair of shoes that I can't wear. I wanted to get another - different pair- but nope. So do not go to this location, unless you want to be lied too and treated like garbage (which was the way they treated me when I first went there), I hope you assh##less go out of business cause you all can suck it.

When I went in to purchase the boots on Friday, a different young lady checked me out. She too was polite and helpful. When I got home and tried on the boots to show my husband, I wasn't sure if they fit right or not. (You see I have severe Rheumatoid Arthritis in my feet. If a shoe/boot doesn't fit right, it's not good.) So I headed back to Famous Footwear about 2 hours later. I took the boots I had purchased with me so I could compare. When I entered the store, the cashier who had JUST checked me out as well as the one who helped me on Thursday night asked what I was doing. I shared that I wasn't sure if I bought the correct size and needed to compare with a different size boot. They said that they had to keep my purchased boots at the register- store policy. I said I needed them to compare sizes and my receipt was with the boots. THE CASHIER (associate #300423) THAT HAD CHECKED ME OUT JUST TWO HOURS EARLIER, TOOK MY PURCHASED BOOTS FROM ME. YES TOOK THEM RIGHT OUT OF MY HANDS! I was so taken back! I went on to try on the new size boots and walk around the store. Anyone who tries on shoes knows you need to know how two different sizes feel. So after trying to GUESS if I needed a different size by how the new ones felt, I finally went up to the desk where MY BOOTS (I had already paid for them) were and took one to compare with. After 5 minutes of walking around with two sizes on, I decided the ones I bought were probably the right ones. I then went and got my other boot. I walked around with them on and decided I would not be exchanging the boots for a new size. I then took my boots and my receipt and left. Let me clarify a few things, it was MY CHOICE to leave my boots at the register. Since only one other customer came in during the entire time, I would have thought those young ladies had plenty of time to help me, not make purchasing a new pair of boots of very negative experience. That unfortunately was not our case. We only needed (3) tuxes from them - groom, best man, and father of the groom. We purchased the grooms tux in-store early in February and received all the pieces with no issues. Our other two members placed their ordered by July and were assured delivery and full alterations, on-time, for our October 1 wedding. Two weeks before, we checked-in on the status and we received multiple different communication messages from both locations that the items were to be ready at. Our best man made NUMEROUS trips to his store location to get each piece of his tux (they were wrong styles, sizes and multiple issued with his outfit). He finally received all his pieces the week before the wedding but Ticnkors was unable to have everything altered in time. We had to pay for separate alterations elsewhere and were not happy, as Ticknors offered tailoring that would be done in-time before the wedding. We were waiting on bow-ties until two days before the wedding and I believe if I had not been diligent about following up with Ticknors two weeks before the wedding, items would have been missing and incorrect. For only having to dress three members for our wedding, this was the most stressful experience of planning our whole wedding and we recommend going to Mens Warehouse instead of Ticknors. We are sad to have to submit a review like this, but the experience was incredibly poor.
