Worst experience with a business I've ever had in my life. Would not recommend to anyone looking to get something cleaned. I brought them 11 wedding dresses to dry clean. The bill was $1300. One of the dresses was returned to me more flawed than before. There are new stains on it that were never there before. Clearly their mistake. I simply wanted money back for this one piece that they ruined (around $160). Instead they gaslit me and did not own up to their mistake. They offered to clean it again but I wouldn't trust them to clean a t-shirt after this experience. I just wanted my money back and they refused. American Dry Cleaners offers absolutely terrible customer service. The staff is beyond rude and will not accept responsibility for their mistakes. It would be one thing if they even became defensive, it would even be a little bit less acceptable if they became combative about it or argumentative. However, the depth of the insults and the arrogance that they will embrace makes it a wonder that they are even in business. Let's be honest, dry cleaners are probably having a bit of a difficulty in a world where formal wear is no longer the norm. Places where you once had to wear a suit and tie have transitioned to where you can show up in jeans and a t-shirt. I am sure this has hurt dry cleaners. I rate these folks: I've used ADC for more than 20 years for alterations, dry cleaning and shoe repair and they have been close to perfect, even on the most complicated and challenging projects. Including projects others have failed at! On the extremely rare occasion when there was any issue, they resolved it very fairly and very quickly. The ladies are friendly, professional, EFFICIENT and get the job done. They even did work for me on the spot once when I asked to expedite the process for extra money and they refused the tip. I've passed by this place so many times while I've lived in Orlando. Finally decided to come in based on a few recommendations and location. Had two pairs of dress shoes I've been needing to get fixed, so I finally took them in. Such a strong chemical smell in here. It is a dry cleaner, but I've been to several that have a slight or no smell. I smelled it stronger when I picked up my shoes. After I got my shoes home, I tried to remove the stickers on the inside sole. The adhesion was so strong that it took nearly 20 minutes to remove ONE STICKER from ONE SHOE. AND IT DAMAGED THE INSIDE OF MY SHOES - REMOVING THE MATERIAL FROM THE SOLE. Seriously. This really grinds my gears. I have a major bone to pick with ANY business that uses tags, stickers, tape or anything else with industrial-strength grade adhesive that bonds so tightly it takes a sit-down session to remove it - or worse - ruins the merchandise. People, we're putting labels on coffee cups and stickers on shoes - it doesn't warrant this kind of stickiness. This could easily have been avoided by folding a small section of the sticker over, or even using a paper hang tag from the shoelace hole or from a design loop with the sticker applied to that. Oh, they also offer dry cleaning and alterations, but I'll pass. read more

3 stars because that means A-OK and that's exactly right! Acme is in the same building as the American Shoe Repair that I reviewed recently. Like American Shoe Repair, ACME is missing a bit of that customer service. A smile would go a long way! I got a wedding gown laundered here. Them things are not cheap to clean, but they're not used often (hopefully!), so it's to be expected. All of the small dirt stains at the bottom of the gown, as well as some makeup stains vanished after the cleaning! The dress was ready when I expected it and I was happy with the cleaning, but as I mentioned before, the tiniest bit of pleasantries would go a long way. I found myself listening to one of the employees on a long phone conversation at the front desk (it was in a foreign language, so I wasn't snooping!) and the woman who took down my information and took the gown was efficient, but never said 'thank you', 'hello', 'have a nice day', or anything of the sort. In the end, this place is so close that I will keep coming back. Maybe they'll warm up to me! :) read more

Shoes to fix are what I brought, and shoes fixed are what I got. Had a pair of boots with run down heels and a pair of slides that needed re-gluing. Needed it done while I was here visiting, as needed to wear them. + Star - Good work. Boots looked very good, with the heels repaired and the scratches in the heels all buffed out. Shoes were glued well, with no visible seam/damage. - Star - Cost. Wow. I was more than a bit shocked to pay $12 for each of these services. I suppose this is one of these aspects where Orlando is far more pricey than LA. I would not have paid more than $10 for heels and $5 for glue in LA. Oh well. The young woman who waited on me for both pickup and drop off was a down-in-the-mouth type, who I felt bad for. Not a fun customer service interaction. They do have an efficient system with tracking your items by phone number and also with stickers on each shoe item, but it was a mess trying to peel the sticker off the bottom of the leather sole of my shoe (left residue and had to be cleaned - a huge pain). But would I go back? Yeah. Mainly because they are one of the only gigs in town. read more

This is my favorite dry cleaning place! I use the label "dry cleaning" as a generalization, because they do so much more. Por ejemplo: In an attempt to motivate myself to become fit, and recreate a real life 27 Dresses (always the bridesmaid, never the bride) I ordered my last bridesmaid dress a size too small. I had 6 months until the wedding, I was sure to fit in once it arrived, and I did, yippee! So what happened then? I ignored my fitness regime, of course, because my goal was met. Two weeks before the wedding I tried on the dress to see if it needed to be steamed, and sure enough, it was tight as Hell. In a panic I headed to American Dry Cleaners and the seamstress did her magic. She was able to take my dress out, sparing me the humiliation of looking like a stuffed sausage next to the blushing bride. Anywho - other services include: shoe repair, purse repair/restoration. I very much appreciate their shoe repair, when I find a favorite (and comfortable) pair of heels, I wear them OUT. And the lovely cobblers replace the heels (at a very reasonable $10-$15) and give my shoes a new shine like they're straight from the box. read more

Went in here for some show repairs thanks to Yelp! Dropped off about 8 pair of boots I had been wanting to get the heel repaired. I needed two of them for a trip I am leaving for tomorrow so they did them within 3 hours, wow! That was super nice of them. The work turned out great. The others will take a total of 5 days to complete which is fine with me. And I am totally with Rhea P, no fluff and it's cool, they get the job done. $10 for boots is more than I was paying at my other place but it's worth it since it's super close to my house and they turned around work when I needed it super quick and with quality! I brought a pair of leather boots to American Dry Cleaners to be re-soled and re-heeled. My boots were well-worn and well-loved but 3 years old. I hadn't touched them with any leather care product and they were looking their age. $35 later, my boots are now good as new; not only did they do as I asked, but they were returned to me conditioned and shined up. The scratches on the heels were buffed out... they look brand new. I will be taking a pair of English riding boots to them as soon as finances allow. Let me begin by saying I really don't like to leave negative reviews, but after what I experienced at American Cleaners, I felt I had to. I initially went in to have a pair of leather Sperry's cleaned. After they explained that it would cost $25 for the cleaning, they offered me an alternative - an $8 bottle of cleaner that I could apply myself. They said it would work on suede and leather, so I mentioned a pair of Ugg boots I had that needed to be cleaned. They told me they do a great job cleaning Uggs, so I thought - "Great, I'll bring them in." Little did I know that decision would end up ruining my Ugg boots. When I brought my Uggs in to be cleaned, I showed them a little spot near the heel that I was hoping they could get out. I paid the $25 and left them in their care with high hopes of getting my boots back looking good as new. When I returned a week later, they looked terrible! They were darker in some spots and there was a huge stain on the side of one of the boots. I brought this to the attention of the woman working there. She got two differ nt brushes and started brushing the suede RIGHT OFF THE BOOT. There were little pieces of suede literally falling off my boot. Then I saw patches of missing suede. The boots were ruined. She said they would take them and give them another cleaning. I didn't think I had anything to loose at that point, so they took them and I returned a week later. This time the spotting was gone because both boots looked darker - like they had stained them with the cleaning solution - except for the one part on the side where there were now patches of suede that was now scraped off. I told the woman behind the counter that they were ruined. She asked if I could come back another time to talk to the owner. I came back a week later and the owner wasn't there, so she said the owner would call me on Monday. I never received a call, so I went back into the store. I was told the owners were out until the next week (it was around Memorial Day, so I assumed they were on vacation) and that I should call before I come in again. So, I stopped in yesterday and finally the owner was there. I told her I had a pair of Ugg boots cleaned there that were now ruined and I'd like some kind of refund. She got the boots and started examining them and then went and got a suede brush and started brushing the matted down, ugly dark spot on the ruined boot. I pointed out where the suede was now missing from the side of the boot and she said it was just matted down and that over time it will look normal again. She said in the meantime I should just wear my pants over them. I said I wouldn't be wearing them again. She asked what I would like to rectify the situation and I said I wanted the $25 cleaning fee refunded - which they begrudgingly did. That's the only reason they didn't get just 1 star, but all in all, the experience was terrible. A ruined pair of expensive boots. I'll never go back! read more

You know what I like about this place? No fluff. As soon as I came in the door with suede shoes and a suede jacket, the look on the worker's face let me know I was dealing with high maintenance material. So, I was told not to have super high expectations with the outcome and was quickly told about how my shoe heels were not fixable. Side note: If you have a wedding, please let the guests know if it's outdoors so people will know how to dress. Ok, so the wedding was outdoors and my gold stilettos keep poking holes and sinking in the dirt. ..sigh. . . They did what they could with them, and gave me a discount for being a new customer. I have only used their shoe repair service as I have a regular dry cleaner that I have been pretty happy with. I wouldn't say the folks here are not nice, but they are curt. I have taken two pairs of shoes here, simply because I didn't have much of an alternative. The first pair I took in had to be returned 2 times before they were correctly repaired. The second time had to be returned once. I appreciate that they keep working until they get it right, but I would far prefer that the job be completed correctly the first time. read more

Just picked up a bunch of dry cleaning from them, one shirt they said they did not bother washing because it had a hole in it and I must have dropped it off this way. I did not drop it off that way, and clearly it looks like someone ended up rubbing the shirt too hard causing a tear when pre-treating a stain. It's on the vet front of my shirt so not something I would have missed. My word against theirs but I know that hole wasn't there when I dropped it off. I could argue with them, but why would I continue to take my clothes there if they're going to pass the blame back to the customer vs admit it was an honest mistake. Clearly I'm not the first that this has happened to, so now will have to find a new dry cleaner. read more

I had been going here for several years before finally switching about a year ago. I took in a delicate sweater and a suit to be dry cleaned. When I picked them up, the sweater had tons of holes in it that apparently they failed to notice, and the hook on the pants closure was bent back and completely broken. When I went back to show them, they argued that it must have been brought in that way. She actually told me that the pants closure must have broken because they are too small for me -- uh rude and false. Finally they agreed to fix them for free, so I'm not sure why they bothered arguing. They "fixed" the sweater by sewing the holes together with the same color string -- not great, but not totally ruined either -- and they put a new clasp on the pants that works but doesn't match. If they hadn't "fixed" it for free I'd make it 1 star. I still stand by their shoe repair, but I'm definitely in the market for a new dry cleaner. read more

They said normally gowns are $19 (already high) but because mine was a "name brand"it cost $30. Checked around and this is NOT SOP for other dry cleaners. First of all, I'm not a complainer, so an experience to warrant all the effort of signing up for Yelp to leave a negative review should be taken seriously. I brought a dress here for work to be done on the sleeves. The sleeves were capped oddly, which resulted in very high pouf levels. I was hoping to have the sleeves "taken down" and flattened out into normal cap sleeves. I tried explaining this all to the employee, who is a limited English speaker and rushed me. "No problem!" I picked up my dress a week later, got it home, tried it on, and h-o-l-y c-r-a-p. The elastic was cut off the ends of the sleeves, but no other work was done. At. All. The ends were crudely hemmed, and one of the sleeves is actually about an inch longer than the other now. Lastly, the dress has a white stripe across the waist, which now has mysterious pen marks all over it. I'm wearing this dress in my brother's wedding in four days. Don't bother with this place. I went here upon the recommendation of a friend, to get the sole of one of my favorite pairs of shoes repaired. When I walked in the lady at the front counter saw my shoes immediately and shook her head. *BOO* I said, "There's absolutely nothing you can do?" She just continued to shake her head. Apparently the sole was broken from the shoe in a way that was...well, obviously unrepairable. I've never had to deal with them losing an item or poor performance. The cobbler on site is superb if you need shoes re-soled. I'm done with this place. Been a very loyal customer for years. Initially chose them due to location and have since used them despite it no longer being convenient. The quality of their process has declined greatly. I had a pair of pants and a shirt that needed some repair. My pants were paid for but I put them on this morning and the repair was never made. My shirt came back with a tag that said "can't be done." I've seen far worse get fixed so that's a load of crap. This is a great cleaners who also does Shoe Repair. If you are a dancer and need to have any of your shoes whether they be regular or dance shoes sueded or resoled or have the heels recapped this is a great place for it. Normally to get your shoes done it takes them 3 days however if they're cobbler is on site you can get it sooner. The shoe repair takes all types of shoes and the glue that used to resole is of excellent quality. I have never had a soul come off while I was dancing when I had this establishment resole my shoes. I normally bring brand new dance shoes and have them reinforced. I have had them repair broken shoes before and the repair was excellent. read more

I've been using American Dry Cleaners for several years, and have been quite satisfied. Their prices are about average, and turnaround is quick. My favorite thing about them is their hours. As someone who works an 8-5 job, it can be tricky to make it to the cleaners during business hours. Most of them close at 6 if you're lucky, and have crazy limited hours on weekends, if any at all. They are willing to accommodate you if you need something in a hurry. I have had many items altered here as well -- affordable and also very accommodating on time (I tend to wait until last minute).
