I have used them for many years and I had no problem until recently dropped in a designer sweater ( Like Louise Vuitton, Chanel, Fendi, Gucci ETC level) and they shrunk it. They tried telling me I needed to go back to the store and tell them it was a defective ( although they have cleaned this several times before for years now). Anyway they said, they are the ones that have to accept responsibility and gave me a "free" credit of $60. This ONLY happened after a lot of back and forth from me and after all of that, that was all they were willing to help me out with. To be fair, all of the reviews for City Dry Cleaners are 2-7 years old. Give these folks a chance. I believe they have new owner/management post COVID-19;2020. I have been actively dropping off my clothes here on a weekly basis for the past 2 years. Before that, I was hoping around downtown/Mills 50 trying out several places...in my humble opinion, most of the competition in town is overpriced and service is underwhelming. That is, until I stumbled upon City Dry Cleaners. It's quiet shop, parking lot is also usually slow or empty, which I love (considering just the busy lots all over E COLONIAL). The women inside is kind and always greets me with a warm smile. Prices are GREAT, you pay up front and you wait anywhere between 2-4 days for your clothes to be ready. They'll call you, but in addition to that...you also get a blue ticket with your items/date printed on it. If you don't have your ticket, a phone number works. My clothes are always free of stains, pressed and all around super fresh. I usually drop off my clothes within the appropriate turn around time to have them back to me. Therefore, I have never attempted to try out their next-day service. However, a dear friend of mine uses the service regularly and is over the moon satisfied. They refer everyone over to the Filipino women next door for alternations (FYI, she's wonderful and very talented - give her your business). read more

I stopped going here after my clothes came back smelling like literal poop and the workers said that this was normal and that sometimes it happens. I'm not okay with receiving my clothes that smell worse after I took them to the supposed "cleaners". If this never happens to you then great but the one time it does you will be upset. They are a value dry cleaner. You know, one of those you get what you pay for deals. There isn't enough competition in the area to make premium dry cleaners more affordable. So if price is what drives you to make a decision on a dry cleaner, then you won't be able to do better than City. First off, in order to get the lower rates you'll have to prepay. There is a $5 minimum for all credit/debit card payments. My advice is to bring cash if you only have a few items. If you're bringing in moderate to heavily soiled clothing for dry cleaning, then go somewhere else. You'll have issues here. The reason has to do with the cleaning products and the cleaning process. They use cheaper products in order to charge lower prices. Make sense? PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT: Avoid City Dry Cleaners on Colonial at all costs. My husband took a large load of shirts there to be dry cleaned and over a DOZEN of his shirts were destroyed: a retail value nearly $2,000. The damage was identical on all shirts: the elbows were torn from bicep to forearm. When my husband brought it to the owner's attention, the guy said my husband must have "worn through them," even though seven of the twelve shirts were brand new. He offered to refund the cost of the dry cleaning service -an acknowledgment of the guilt- but refused to offer any concession toward the replacement of the shirts. LOVELY WORK! I don't know what those other guys are talking about. They cleaned up my coat very nicely for under $4, plus the clerk was helpful and hysterical. Very poor customer service. I gave them a suit jacket to dry clean. It had a huge and very visible sweat stain in the back of it. I got it back with the same huge visible stain. When I pointed it out they didn't even act surprised. They just gave me a new pick up date. No apology, no discount, nothing. When I returned, it was only partially removed. But still there. Don't go here! I will never go to this location again. I brought in a $150 blazer to be cleaned. When I picked it up one of the buttons was missing and they had taken off and lost a built-in broche on the lapel. By far the worst experience I've had with a dry cleaners. I had a few dress shirts damaged, had a chat with the manager and the situation got nowhere. His answer to the damaged shirts was that I caused the problem and there was nothing that he could do about it. I started using this dry cleaners out of convenience and I regret this decision. I think they are holding my pants hostage because I complained about them not being ready on Friday last when promised. At 3 pm they said come back at 5. At 5 they told me an ordinary (tea I think) stain prevented delivery at 5. My husband and I have been getting our weekly dry cleaning here for over a year now. The service is super cheap, super fast and very efficient!! I even recently had my wedding dress cleaned with the 100 year preservation package (which was a send out service). I did my research and City Dry Cleaners had the best local pricing fir wedding dress cleaning and preservation in the downtown area. My dress was filthy with lots of pollen stains along the bottom of the dress with several black marks along the train?! I thought for sure that it was ruined?! Plus, embarrassingly, it took me a year to finally take it in to be cleaned which makes the stains even harder to come out!! Surprisingly, every single stain was removed!! It turned out beautifully!! Stay away and don't go to this place for your dry cleaning purposes. The place is independently owned and operated by the owner himself and his wife and son. These people are very rude and disgusting and very very very money hungry and greedy and all they want is your money and all they care about is your money. They have no sense of customer satisfaction and quality. I am a doctor and for the past 6 months I have been using City as my weekly cleaners for my work clothes spending min 35 dollars a week for the past 6 months. My last order the owner himself tells me as I went to retrieve them that there is a miscount and I owe them for 1 shirt. So I picked up my order and I kind of got comfortable with them, I started to trust them, and I would never count the articles and I would just drop off and pick up. But on my last order during the miscount time, I went home and hung my clothes up and I didn't see my favorite shirt. So I knew for a fact that 100% I had given that shirt to him and it should have been with the ready order. I knew for a fact that City had lost my favorite shirt and once they finalized my order they probably had charged me one extra because they had lost it, so to cover up their mistake, instead of crediting me for 1 shirt they wanted to charge me for an extra shirt. So I go back and explain everything to the owner himself and he does not even want to listen to me, like he has no time now for me. For the past 6 months when I was giving him 35 bucks a week for my dry cleaning services he was acting as he was my best friend, but now as I have to talk to him about my shirt that has been lost 100% by his dry cleaners he doesn't even know who I am. All he basically told me was that we NEVER loose customers clothes. So I told him that I have been doing professional dry cleaning for my entire career as my career calls for it, and I have never had an times where the cleaners have lost my clothes or where the cleaners have miscounted my clothes. How ironic right? So at that point I am using big words and all and who knows if he even understands me at all because his English is very poor and broken. So I guess he did understand me so he starts to tell me that he has never lost anything but miscounts happen frequently. So I tell him, "what is going to be done now, that favorite shirt of mines was 55-60 bucks, at least dry clean this weeks load for free as it would come out to around 35 bucks and we will split the cost of my shirt and go half and half." He then says absolutely not I didn't loose your shirt and if you want services you will have to pay full amount for the load. So I just walked away and he lost my business. I cant believe not even to keep my business that he didn't just give me one weeks worth of free dry cleaning for his own mistakes. I mean after all dry cleaning has probably a 50-55% profit margin. All this guy and his family and his company care about is MONEY MONEY MONEY MONEY MONEY and they don't care about anything else that counts like customer satisfaction and quality. So please be aware and trust me and find another dry cleaners, pay the extra cents but don't deal with this guy or his company as it is very disorganized and the company is ran as if the entire family is still under the back home mentality where everything will happen by itself and that they wont need to take any efforts in running the business and that they can treat their customers any which way that they want to as if they were still back home overseas. read more
