The soho AE moved 1 street down to this location. When I visited, the process of picking up my order was really fast. I feel like this location was staffed well, with competent staffers. The selection of clothes at this location is about the same as others and I like the way it is organized. At this time, AE had just launched a collaboration with Bubble and I think that they did a fantastic job organizing the collection. I've always gone to American Eagle for female belts because they have always had a wonderful selection. Their belts were always on a nice full display with a variety of high quality leather belts, colors, and styles. When I went in the store this time the belts were scattered around the store on racks with a pair of pants or in front of a blouse. They only had two belts. One came in black or 2 shades of brown and the other was a pastel green. The selection was awful. What happened American Eagle. I took two trains to get to you for disappointment!! The store is clean & organized yet lacks proper customer service. Came by at lunch (not busy at all) and while there were a number of employees I felt like I didn't get the attention I hoped for in the fitting rooms. I asked for help with bra sizing and the young girls didn't seem well versed in sizing and just told me go with what I'm comfortable with? I took two sizes to try on. Zero follow up. Finally seeing an employee in the fitting room I asked how the fit looked and if I should size up. Again, I was told it's up to me and how I feel. A woman who looked like a manager came by and mentioned what works for her and rushed out. I decided to leave and not buy anything due to the lack of assistance. There was no follow up as I left asking if I needed another size or how it worked out for me. Not even a bye so almost like I didn't exist as a customer. A big store with two levels and basement. They have escalators & elevators. Level two has zero AC. Did not see a restroom. I think employees need better training on products offered and providing better customer service. read more

SUPER disappointing experience! I am a frequent American Eagle shopper, and the experience I had in this store today left a really bad taste in my mouth. I saw an email that American Eagle was beginning Black Friday and decided to shop right after an appointment. I asked an associate for help getting a size and she said, "Did you just wake up or something? There are lines ALL over your face." I laughed and told her I had just been to an acupuncture appointment and I knew my face had sheet marks, and tried moving on. She said, "Yeah, you also just look REALLY tired, like you're still asleep." I felt it was completely inappropriate for her to comment on my appearance, especially for something I couldn't fix. It's not like I had spinach in my teeth or something. Especially as a former retail worker, I would never think about saying something like this to anyone, let alone a customer. I definitely won't be returning to this location. This, along with the fact that the larger sizes I wanted (10-16, L, XL) were not stocked on the floor at all, made me feel super unwelcome, especially for a brand (Aerie) that is always championing no retouching and body positivity. read more

Wow! just wow An online purchase - they sent me a pair of jeans with a security tag attached. Here are the ONLY options they could provide to resolve. 1. 4 weeks - I send them back, and they take of the tag, and resend them to me. 2. 4 weeks - I buy (and pay) for a new pair, then send these back and wait 4 weeks for a refund. 3. I travel to a store to have the online purchase fixed. Things go wrong - and what happends next is what matters. American Eagle's mistake - and the customer's problem to resolve. I would love to give this place a fantastic review, I love AE and usually find great size and selection at their New York locations since they lack such great selection here in the bay area. However, there's just something off about this store. Once I walked in, more or less it looked like they were re-stocking or ... unstocking? Everything was in piles, every table was more or less a mess and you could not find a size or a price tag sometimes to save your life. I was so turned off by the appearance and overall organization of this store I didn't end up buying anything from here. How is this giant store so messy and how are they not keeping on top of it? I have to say I am not the biggest fan either of AE but I was here when there was a big re-opening or whatever, the $50 giftcard giveaway. I woke up at 6:30 am on my day off and was lucky enough to get on the line and be one of the first 500 people. -I had a great time, got some nice jeans straight leg whatever light sand colored and a black fleece sweater. I took my nephew here last week and I have to give them a shout out. They were so nice to my nephew and helped him find some really nice clothes for the spring and summer. I'm a big fan of Aerie so when I saw this store in Soho I had to go in. It's really a big store and very cute. Their displays and their selection is bigger and better than most Aerie stores. The customer service in here is amazing. I was carrying a paper bag and it was pouring down rain. I love their clothes, but last winter AE had it bad. They didn't have a nice selection everything just seemed meh. However, they made a comeback this year ! I'm loving their spring clothes. The store itself should has an okay staff. When things go on sale they're sensationally cheap, however the clothes do sell out fast, due to the soho area. One of the bad things about this store is that they don't update too often, missing out on great clothes that were available online or in other stores. The only time that I got really angry was yesterday. One of the staffs in the fitting room kept knocking on my door and was rushing me. I was only in the fitting room for a good 3 minutes trying on undergarments and she knocked my on door every minute I was in there. I had many layers on because it was a cold day, so I took longer to take off my jacket and stuff. She told me that I was taking long, which was absolutely absurd ! She looked at them again and said oh these don't even come out until August 4th and that was it. I got home and looked at the jeans online again and no where does it say that they are not out yet and to top it off I looked to see what store they were in stock in and it said its in stock at the store I was in! That girl clearly needs to be more educated in the store merch. I would absolutely not recommend shopping at this location seeing as half the employees were not helpful at all! read more

Felt compelled to write this review based on how annoyed I get thinking about this store, that I might as well put it in words. I haven't set foot in an AE since high school & probably won't ever again. Well, at least not in SoHo. While the store is huge and has really great inventory, the people working there make none of the latter worth it. Every customer that walks in AE is like a magnet for these salespeople who think they are metallic objects gravitating to every person in their radius. Someone is constantly breathing down your neck from the moment you walk in to the moment you leave. I swear they have 1,000 people working at the same time, because every time I turned a corner, I'd be asked if I needed help or whatnot. It's fine the first couple of minutes, but literally after 10 minutes of shopping, you've interacted with 15 salespeople. It's really excruciating and it has forced me to leave empty handed once because my tolerance doesn't reach that level of annoying. When I did finally need help getting a size, the girl working there never came back with the shirt I wanted after 15 minutes of me waiting around. Still rolling my eyes. I'm not the biggest fan of AE, but I definitely shop here to get my preppy look going in the fall. I come to this location all the time because they usually have the best clothing and it's definitely the cleanest. I do have to agree with Kwame J. about the prices. There are so many times when I buy something here one day and a few days or a week or 2 later, it's on sale for half that price. I mean, this place is overpriced in general. A shirt can cost upwards of $50 but you can see it's just a plain old shirt that's definitely not worth that much. Also, their jeans stretch out A LOT. You can wear them one day by the end of that day, it can look like you're wearing guy's jeans....they become THAT baggy! Overall, this store is pretty good. I just have two problems with it: staff and temperature. This staff at this location are way too much in your face. I went today to check out the new sweaters and within 3 minutes of walking through the door, I was asked by 8 employees how I was doing, if I needed any help, and if I needed help finding something. Ok people, seriously, if I need your help, I will ask. Don't come up to me so many times! Let me just look around and if I need something, I will ask you! Every step I took, another employee came up to me, it was getting very annoying! It was kind of like being with my little cousins, asking me question after question! But don't get me wrong, they are very nice and helpful, just too in your face! This location does NOT have air conditioner so they have 3 or 4 big fans blowing on the floor. It's HOT in this store. One of the employees told me today that they are actually moving this location up the block on the corner and it's supposed to have a/c. I just had a pretty awkward experience at this Aerie location (in the basement of AE). The staff was very helpful, but TOO helpful, if you know what I mean. When I'm shopping for bras I like to be left alone, but every time I went to a new rack of bras a different sales associate came up to me and tried to strike up a conversation about the products. I kept having to say "thanks for your help but I'm just browsing, thanks." GIRL can't you see I'm on a mission here? The last thing I want to do is talk to a stranger about what kind of bra I think my boyfriend might like! Anyway, I tried on a ton of bras, all of which fit very differently from one another (not like I was expecting high quality, but I was expecting consistency in the sizing) and they had very limited sizes in stock in the store. It was mentioned to me a number of times that I could buy these bras online in the right size, but that they wanted to do it for me in the store. No. Just. No. I have a computer, thanks. If I'm going to buy something online I want to do it myself. Thanks. I ended up buying a shitty bra that didn't fit because I felt forced into it, went around the corner to an actual bra shop and bought two life changing bras (girls, do yourself a favor: get professionally fitted and DON'T buy your bras at aerie unless you're sure they really fit you), and I returned the crap bra to the AE on 14th street (where they don't push you to buy anything you don't want). read more

I had a rather unpleasant experience at this store - and doubt I'll ever set foot there again. On Memorial day I went in and picked out two t-shirts - sale going on - total was $25. I waited on line upstairs in men's wear - and when my turn at counter, the sales associate asked me if I had ID. He never asked to see my card - just asked for ID. I thought this was strange, but I gave him my college ID - I'm on faculty - he stared at it a while - then I offered my passport - he stared at that for a while as well. Finally I swiped my card at the terminal on my side of the counter - again, he never saw, or asked to see my credit card. After I had paid, I asked him why did he ask for ID - he said they always do... ?? I've shopped this store dozens of times & have NEVER been asked for ID.. The sales associate manning the adjacent counter made some snarky comments about me - and that's when I asked to speak to the manager. The manager claimed that they are required to ask for ID by the credit card issuers, on every purchase. But I never saw any sales associate ask anyone else for ID while I was waiting on line What I was told by the store manager is a lie.. a blatant lie... they simply checks DO NOT ask for ID on every purchase - why would a store manager make up a story??? What gives?? I've checked with Visa & MasterCard and they verified that they do not require ID unless card is not signed, which mine is, or if signature does not match, he never looked at my card. In fact - they do not want retailers asking for ID if customer presents a signed card and signature matches. Just the opposite of what the stare manager told me. I called their corporate office - and they told me that they do not require ID when paying with cc.... No other explanation offered - they just blew me off. I feel very uncomfortable about the experience - and I won't be back. They've lost a good customer. There are other stores to shop at - don't need this.... Was it discrimination? Bored staff amusing themselves? Just a "gag".... having fun at my expense - humiliation?? Still don't know why I was treated this way - but I am totally disappointed with American Eagle. Nice store, there are many pieces of clothing that look really nice, like the sweaters. I love the wide variety for Jeans that they have. The second floor has the male items. I love those nice $12.00 colorful cotton shirt for men and boys. Customer service is very friendly. Why is it that more and more stores are playing god awful music and higher and higher levels? Male singers with pre-pubescent voices whining about their "girlfriend" with their shaggy hair and jeans that even I couldn't fit into.... I don't get it. But at least at American Eagle, they don't play this music as loud as their trendy counterparts Abercrombie and Hollister. What I also like about AE compared to these other stores is that the interior is brightly lit so you can actually SEE the clothes. Also, they ususally fitting room attendant so I didn't have to search through the entire store to find someone who had a fitting room key. Their style of clothes is a pretty good mixture and they also carry shoes, jewelry, purses, makeup, etc. I'm a fan of that newer section of the store, "aerie" that has more loungewear and underwear. The employees here follow you around & badger you, then try to convince you to buy things that are completely unrelated to the items you already have, instead of trying to offer assistance. I went there to return a shirt. The cashier asked for my ID, my email and my phone number... And then I found out I got a membership card next to my return receipt after I got home... not cool because she didn't say a word about the membership. I asked why she needed my email, she said they would send a confirmation for my return... I don't appreciate the membership. I don't want to be the member. She tricked me and lied to me to get my personal information by representing American Eagle. American Eagle higher management should treat this kind of behavior seriously. The store is pretty big and has a great selection, but this review is about the staff that made this experience one of the best I've had: I came into the store after a bit of a wardrobe malfunction and needed some emergency attire. The ladies on the Aerie floor were more than helpful in my search for some comfy studying clothes. Aniayah greeted me when I came to the floor and once I explained my problem she started pulling out beautiful suggestions. I'm a super picky shopper, but she was so patient with me. Once I finally got to the dressing room, Yeilin was beyond words! Her personality was so warm and welcoming I felt like I was shopping with a friend! She listened to my suggestions and brought exactly what I wanted and more. Because of my situation, I had some unique requests while in the dressing room; Tati, the floor supervisor was very understanding and personally helped me with my situation. All the ladies were professional, youthful, and fun. I ended up spending more time and money than I planned but left the store really happy that I had the malfunction in the first place - I just felt great! I'm a minimalist, so shopping is usually a bit of a headache for me, but once I left this American Eagle I had a smile on my face. I will DEFINITELY be returning to this store. I was trying to exchange a pair of jeans (which I took the tags off) that I bought at another AE store and since they didn't have the size I wanted in stock anymore, the SA called other people to check for me in the back-room. If you like stylish teenage clothing this place is definitely better than Forever 21! Much better quality, which means you can wear the clothes for many seasons. I really like their jeans (jeggins) - stylish, but not so pricey. I love the light gray for spring/summer. So flattering! This store has a quite large selection and the staff is super friendly, eager to help, but not pushy. I always enjoy coming here -- and always find some great pieces... they also have big "on sale" section - where you can get beautiful sweaters or summer jumpers for as low as $12!! That's a steal for a nice quality clothes. Moreover, if you have a trouble matching clothes (like me ;) it is sooo easy to pick few pieces and wear them in different combinations. One of my childhood besties design for American Eagle, so I walk so proudly into every AE store and know that a part of her heart is left with these garments. That's my loyalty to my friend and my belief in her. But even if it wasn't for her, AE's grown into it's own, stepping away and out of A&F's shadow. This location is grand, it's accessible. It's beautiful to look at and tons of sales when the time's right. The best customer service from a retail store in NY! My husband and I were immediately greeted and offered help. We didn't need to search far for an associate when we did need help. They were all super friendly and eager to help find a size or an alternative if they didn't have the size. The store was large and did carry most sizes in most of their items. I generally love this American Eagle Outfitters as the employees are very helpful and generally very friendly. If you ask them for help, all ranges of help will be provided, thus this became my go-to American Eagle Outfitters. However, I did have a very unpleasant experience with one of their cashiers named Akia Williams. I was trying to return a product, but I purchased the item through Paypal. I'm not sure if she knew what she was doing, because she had to ask for help from the manager next to her after she demanded my credit card, but I said repetitively that I used Paypal. Next thing you know, she became incredibly rude and snappy. She blatantly ignored my comments and when I said something, she ignored me. And then she went "I was just trying to help you." And when I asked to make sure everything's okay before I leave, she gives me this nasty look as if I was stupid. You shouldn't work a retail job if you're so shitty at communication. So I'd say it's a hit or miss with people. If you get someone nasty like this, just say you want help from someone else. Everyone else is pretty nice, and are willing to go out of their way to help you, even honoring sales. read more

American eagle outfitters is one of my favorite stores. Its hard to find jeans that fit my shape (small waist, big butt) and I have tried everything from Levi's to true religions. Forever 21 gets it right every single time for a fraction of the price. I visited this store on a recent trip to the city. The store is larger than the one I frequent in jersey so I was able to find things there that I didnt see back home. I love the new colored jeans and bought a couple pairs- they fit great!! I really wanted a pair of "shorties" but after trying them On my husband said that i could get them but only as "around the house" shorts :( I will continue to be a faithful patron of american eagle until it is no longer my style. I would've given this place 5 stars but the employees could have been more helpful. At the jersey store i usually go to the employees act like personal stylists when you walk in and will spend as much time as needed helpin you decide on sizes and pieces that work together. I really enjoy shopping at this AE. I don't generally review retail stores (who does) but I figured I would give this a shout out as one of the few places on Broadway that doesn't make me want to gouge my eyes out when I am there. It is large, open, and clean. The store is laid out well and the staff is very (sometimes too) helpful. It usually isn't super-crowded and I can get in and out quickly without spending an hour to grab a few things. And generally speaking AE's clothes are reasonably priced and of solid enough quality where they feel like a definite step up from a cheaper option like H&M. read more

I'm not one to usually write about stores, but with my experience, I must do so. I came here after I went to the gym. I was not looking fine, in fact, I was looking like I had been run over by a truck. In addition to that I also had this back pack which made me look like the biggest tourist in Manhattan. Needless to say I did not expect good service especially for being in SOHO. What surprised me was I actually got GREAT service. Right when I walked in, I was greeted with a smile, asking what I was looking for, telling me about the awesome deal that they had going on. Tried on my pair of jeans the dressing room tenant was very nice and helpful. Needless to say, I am currently wearing the jeans I bought and these are my new favorite pair.
