Awful experience here. I don't know much about second hand shops like this but I had a couple items I wanted to sell that I don't want. One of the item was my daughter's Burberry coat, which she had outgrown.I called ahead specifically because I was told many shops, such as these, don't accept kids items. I was told they would accept it and to bring it in. Upon entry, I'm standing there for several minutes while the guy and girl up front chat it up. Finally, I inquire as to whether someone could assist me. Which she just says sign in there on the device. I found this a little rude, but I did so. I sat down for about 25 minutes and waited my turn. When I am summoned to the counter I mention the coat and she says "no, we don't take kids items" I reiterate what I was told and she asked whom I spoke to, but I told her, I didn't know. I literally believe it was the girl who was I was talking to. I go be her my Hugo Boss sweatsuit m, which i foolishly paid about $300 and wore once. Along with an unworn Adidas sweatshirt. She looks over the items multiple times and tags (literally five or six times) and presents me an offer of $23 and change. I immediately said, I'll pass. Her response was "okay, gray your stuff" This is an absolute rip off and they claim to pay 30% of what they plan they sell your merchandise at, which would be highway robbery anyway, but I believe even that statement is disingenuous. They should work on hiring new staff that isn't more interested in personal conversation than doing their job. read more

Don't come here to sell, I've never had worse service IN MY LIFE. Even the manager would rather sit around and talk then work. I watched all the staff sit in a circle and talk for over thirty minutes when they had a list of 20+ people trying to sell. Not one single person from the 8 employees was working. After an hour and a half of waiting, mind you I started at #7 in line, I watched the staff stop working and huddle to talk for the 100th time so I just left. This location is just trash. Compare to the competition which are only a block away in the same street yes this is trash and imma tell yall why. 1. You have to sign in in a tablet and wait in a waiting area for hours before they call your name. 2. After you done take a nap they call your name and tell you to show your id, hand your belongings and go back to your seat to take another nap basically. 3. 30 min later they call you back and 9/10 you will walk out with everything you brought in. They will barely take 1 to 2 pieces and price it ridiculously low../ if you need the money you will take it... i value my goods so i take them back and go down the street to 2nd street where they actually do their big ones. IF YOU VALUE YOUR GOODS AND YOUR TIME PLEASE DONT WASTE IT BY VISITING THIS PLACE. Take your luxury belongings to 2nd street which is literally down the street from this place. Buying - they're one of my favorite thrift stores. They have a nice selection and most items are fairly priced. At Buffalo Exchange, all designer items are significantly higher. There's currently a 3% surcharge on prices to keep their business afloat. Staff are nice. Everything's nicely organized. Selling - I came on a weekday afternoon. The queue said there were two sellers ahead of me but since they weren't there, the buyer took me right away. You put down your stuff and they call you back in about 10-15 minutes. You can get 30% cash or 50% store credit. They only took 1/4 of my stuff but I tried to sell the rest at the nearby Buffalo Exchange. read more

This past week, I made my 4th visit (over the span of 2.5 years) the W 26th Street Crossroads location to use their drop-off service to sell/donate my clothes, and my experience on this occasion was so off-putting that I will not be back nor recommend this location to anyone (as I have done in the past). They "upgraded" to a new system since my last visit, causing them to lose my entire seller profile and the $25 I was owed from my last drop-off sale - on top of having to start from scratch, the employees working couldn't have been more rude about building a new profile for me, which stands in stark contrast to the other service I have received in the past. As I said, I've donated through the drop 3 other times, and have earned back at least $25 in cash - on this occasion, out of about 50 items, I earned $0. My partner also donated about 50 items on the same evening, and he too earned $0. I am not trying to say I am entitled to my clothes being purchased at Crossroads, but this feels highly suspicious given my past donation history (which has now disappeared according to them!) and the aggressive treatment we both received from the employees - I hesitate to believe our drop-offs were thoroughly processed at all. I'd like to reiterate that I did not expect 100% of my clothes to purchased - I, in fact, always choose to donate anything not purchased so it can go to better homes. But given the overall treatment both I and my partner received on this occasion, we are suspect of the sour employees we had to deal with, and we will not be returning to this location with any of our items. read more

I think I have a little more luck here selling than buying so I keep coming back for that reason. I'm glad the fitting rooms are back open again. The mousy girl told me they were not able to buy anything because of the condition. 50% of the items were new with tags. I went to Beacons Closet and got $95 in cash for new Acne Studios Jeans, AllSaints current season with tags, Dries Van Noten rare belt & Christian Dior Galliano pants. Do not waste your time at Crossroads. The store is empty. The buyers are not knowledgeable and are rude. Run to Beacons Closets where everyone is nice and they know fashion. CT has a good sign in system and their buyers are polite. I haven't been in a while but they bought 90 percent of my items. I had all higher end items. The only thing I will say is that their pricing is very low. I did look around and noticed that they don't really carry a lot of upper market pieces so I don't think they have the buying clientele for some of my things so they won't price them like an uptown consignment shop. I would say that J Crew, Carhartt and hipster type clothes are easier to sell for a fair price here than Hamptons, resort type style brands etc. read more

My absolute favorite thrift store for cute clothes in all of Manhattan! Everything is clean, zero rips or tears, and no wrinkles. They're very selective in what they accept-- I recently sold to them last night for the first time. I got $83 in credit to use in the store or $54 in cash. I chose the store credit as whatever price they mark your item as, you get 33% cash of that price instantly or it's worth 50% to use in store. They have the CUTEST jeans ever here, and they sell a ton of Small and Medium sizes. I typically find that a lot of thrift stores sell a lot of XS and XL sizes which aren't convenient for me at all, I'm a S or M, as are most of the people I'm friends with. Customer service is phenomenal. They remember my name every time (I don't come THAT often) and it's really just so nice! I introduced this place to several of my friends and it's extremely rare that we ever walk out of the store without buying at least 2-3 items. This store doesn't sell decor, luggage or anything else except men's and women's clothes and accessories. All the higher end items are behind the counter (Louis Vuitton, Dolce and Gabanna, Armani, etc) and the rest of the store is more along the lines of Michael Kors, DVF, etc. Still all recognizable labels which I really love! Their prices are so reasonable which is why it's so easy to shop here often :-) Can't say enough great things and I would choose this over Buffalo Exchange any day because of everything listed above). I really love this location and I've had great luck selling men's items from my overstuffed closets from years of working in retail. The staff is super friendly and efficient, no matter how many people waiting to sell. I do not understand the negative reviews about selling here. They are very upfront with what they pay out. If you have clothes with tags or designer items you think deserve more, try Poshmark or EBay. Just remember, you have to put a lot of time and effort to sell those items yourself. Here you get 30% cash of what they sell it for and you're done. They are not ripping you off. They also have seasonal inventory levels to be mindful at each location, so try the other locations as well. read more

DO NOT bring anything here if you need some extra cash for your old clothes. This place is a literal scam. I brought them two heavy bags FULL of high-end clothes, most of them brand new and still with tags on. The ones that weren't new were in almost new condition. The retail value of the items was around $5,000 on my estimation. I knew they would low ball me, so I was expecting a couple hundred bucks but they offered me $8.00 in store credit. You read that right. Eight bucks. If I wanted cash, I could have $4. I was so upset I just laughed and walked out. I didn't take a good look at what they had for sale so I can't speak on that, but if you want fair prices for your items, go somewhere else. I brought in multiple items worth atleast over $30, they priced 2 of my D&G shirts at $15 which was a bit shocking I took most things back. I'm pretty versed in my knowledge of second hand stores like this so I wouldn't sell here, maybe just the things you don't care about at all. Present day buyers are not great, they suspiciously priced my items very low. Despite their racks being near empty they didn't buy much. I'm not a fan of being steered to donate if they don't want items they should just decline. It's my first time back in a few years, I would probably wait for new buyers before going back again. I see there are a lot of bad reviews about selling clothes here but this review is for the shopping part - which is the only thing I did here. I have to say their clothes are higher quality and more stylish then their Williamsburg location. I found a Off the Wall windbreaker jacket for running here for like $18 and I really love it. I didn't really need anything else but a lot of the pants, shirts and dresses were really cute. I particularly like the two or three racks next to the fitting area where special and unique pieces are grouped together. I would definitely recommend to stop by and see what you can find. read more

The new managers that have taken over the store are rude and terrible. I saw one of the managers the heavy-set one with short hair snap at an employee. they also will price items based off of if they like the item and want to buy it so they will price it lower because they plan to buy it. they also have weird and suspect pricing policies. The pricing is based off of the person doing it and of course their own prejudices and biases can play into how much they give someone. They can be classist, sexist and racist. They also rip you off if you consign with them. There is some suspect behavior with consignment items. I think they wear or use the items that should be sold in the store. I'm not sure who he is, but he yelled - "HEY HEY HEY" just to get my attention to asked if I signed in. First of all it's 11:00 on a Sunday morning. I agree with the other reviews the buyers are not educated on fashion, I had a pair of brand new never worn Italian suede shoes from Milan Italy that just didn't fit me and they said the suede was damaged which was crazy it was high quality suede plus a high end designer from a very expensive boutique and this Season. If it's not their market they should say it just don't say ignorant things. Waste of time to go here, sell online Tradesy or donate your inexpensive stuff to Goodwill down the block. Stopped in over the weekend and picked up some lulu pants for $16.50, a lulu swiftly LS for $24, and some uniqlo mauve pants for $12.50 so defo a win of a visit! Everything is neatly organized by size and category of clothing, which caters to my OCD since I can't shop in a messy, over cluttered store. Their more expensive pieces can be found lined against the top of the wall, or in the glass display cases around the store. The staff is very polite and friendly and was always available to assist me when I needed help. Their selling line very electronically organized; go in, put your name in the ipad, and wait for them to call you. It is 50% store credit or 33% cash.
