I am a parent of two scholars at AHA. I brought my oldest to the school when he was in preschool as I was concerned with what I had heard about the public school system in Las Vegas. He had an excellent experience so I continued to keep him there followed by my next child. They have both excelled at the school. The oldest one is now in sixth grade and has just made the A honor role again. They have both been given the tools necessary to succeed. They have both been able to bump grades in math where they excel. The class sizes are much smaller then my co-workers children's classes in public school and I believe this allows the instructors to give the extra attention needed to help the scholars. I think that the respect and self governing that the school teaches the scholars, along with the Christian values and biblical teachings that they review, help keep an upbeat and positive feeling in the classroom. A few years ago, as the school was expanding and updating, I volunteered to help with some of the construction as the school was relying on volunteers to keep the cost of construction down (and so to not have to increase the cost of tuition to offset the construction costs). During that time spent volunteering, I found out many behind the scenes things that reconfirmed my dedication to the school as I found out just how hard the administration and staff work to assure the success of the scholars there. As the school is fully licensed and accredited, and more importantly to me that they are assisting me in pushing my children to succeed, I have no plans of taking my children to any other school in Las Vegas. When my kids are finished at AHA they will not only have an excellent education of both scholastic and biblical teachings, but it is set up so they will also have earned college credit so that their next step in their education will be a smooth transition. I understand that AHA is not a school for everyone. If you don't want your kids learning Christian values then this school is not for you. If you don't want to put in the extra time at home to readdress the things your kids learn in school to keep pushing them then this probably won't be the school for you as it potentially may be hard for your kids to keep up with the fast pace. Of course anyone that is serious about their kids academic success (and doesn't have a problem with the Christian element of the school) would be crazy not to have their kids enrolled at AHA. I couldn't be happier with American Heritage Academy and it's staff. I continue to recommend them to everyone I know that has children struggling with public school or other private schools. read more

My child went to this school for 2 years. While I think the small class sizes are nice, they fail to tell you up front that your child will be taking all AP classes in High School. It says that on the site now, but last year it did not and no mention was made of it when I signed her up. Had I known that, I would not have enrolled her because she struggles to keep up with the curriculum because she isn't an AP student. In addition, I just learned that she will not have enough credits to graduate when transferring to another school so now she has to take Summer school probably this year and next year to catch up and be able to graduate. I'm sorry to say but this school was the biggest mistake of my daughter's life. The teachers act like you are asking for a kidney if you want emailed updates on your child's progress and they can get pretty snarky about it. My daughter felt like an out cast, not because of the students but because of the administration and staff. She actually felt bullied by the adults, not the kids. Not that my child is an angel, but most of the mishaps could have been cured by parent teacher communication, instead, they waited until things were so bad before even contacting me. It's just sad that grown adults have to make already struggling teenagers feel that bad. I guess the adults still think they are in high school. I'm sure the younger grades are very nurturing but once in the high school level, they treat the kids like crap. It is very misleading because as a parent you go in there and do the interview and the walk through and they seem so nice, but once the parents aren't there, they turn into different people. Then when you meet with them to try to work something out, they act like you are being unreasonable. I never write reviews like this ever, but I wasted $12k over 2 years on this school and my daughter did not come out better for it. She came out worse and now has to make up credits. Just such a disappointment. I don't make a lot of money, so wasting $12k on this school is a big deal. They also do not have any sort of counselor program to meet with the kids to make sure they are on target to graduate. I had no idea, some of her credits would not transfer over and she'd be left short of credits. They essentially do not brief you on graduating requirements or if your child is missing credits. They are just very lack luster in communications of any kind. I would get more information from other students than the teachers or administration. My report card for this school, solid F. read more

Our family has been part of the American Heritage Academy (AHA) community for 6 years and we love it! Our children thrive in the loving and personal classroom environment. Before our family chose AHA we toured 4 other schools and researched 9! After going on the tour I knew that we would be sending our children there. The classes are small and the education personal. The teachers are enthusiastic, love the children, and genuinely love teaching. I have always dropped my children off for the day knowing that they would spend the day learning, being loved, and being safe. Each year as our children advance, I am amazed at the quality and breadth of their education. The teachers set the academic bar high and then educate and support the scholars to achieve the goals set. The scholars learn independence from the very beginning, even as early as Pre-K. They are encouraged and supported to gain a deep self of self-confidence. They learn to think critically and make connections between classroom learning and the real world. At American Heritage Academy parent-teacher interaction is not only encouraged but expected. From the very beginning of the year, texting and calling between the parent and teacher are encouraged. Whenever I have had a question or wanted clarification for homework and the like, my requests are always met expeditiously and with helpfulness. One of my children's favorite things about AHA are the unique experience they offer: the Thanksgiving program and Plymouth Plantation Day, a day filled with pilgrim and Native American costumes, customs, games, and activities, the Christian Centered Christmas program and play, the class led weekly devotionals, etc. Every year we are eager to enroll our children for the upcoming school year. We have explored other schools in the last few years as more and more educational options become available. None of them even compare to American Heritage Academy. read more

My name is Angelina Hill. I am the new high school core teacher. I love American Heritage Academy! My two children, Mason, who is in second grade and Elise, who is in preschool, have thrived at AHA this year. At the start of the school year I became disenchanted with my son's public school and began looking for a better option. AHA immediately stood out to me, for its academics, its leadership, and its Christian values. Then after touring the school and meeting with the Headmaster I knew I had found the school that would be perfect for my children. AHA has accomplished more than I could have hoped it would for my children this year. Recent standardized testing showed my son, Mason, who is seven, to be at a 4th grade reading level and a 4th grade math level. My daughter, Elise is learning all of the basics to prepare for kindergarten. But the most important thing that AHA has done for my children is given them a love of learning! AHA doesn't teach children what to think, but how to think: Research, Reason, Relate, and Record. When Mrs. Beckstead, the Headmaster, offered me a job as the high school core teacher one of my fondest dreams was realized. I come from four generations of teachers. My father is a University History Professor. During one of my father lectures I decided I wanted to inspire and teach others with the same passion for learning that my father and my grandparents displayed all their lives. The scholars at AHA are shining examples of Integrity, Intelligence, Dedication, and Leadership. I find it an honor to mentor and learn with them. I view these scholars as my own children. I devote my mind, hands, and heart to helping them fulfill their aspirations and reaching their fullest potential. read more

American Heritage Academy changed my life. I began at the school when I was a fifth grader. My parents took me out of public school because I was being bullied. They also thought I was not tapping into my academic potential - I tested at about average. After a year at AHA, my national test scores went through the roof. My confidence grew, and I learned to love learning. I learned not just facts, but I learned how to learn. I began to read and devour and explore in a way I had never known; a light turned on in my life. Yes, it's the curriculum. Yes, it's the small class sizes. Yes, it's the rigor. Yes, it's the teachers. Yes, it is the environment. Yes, it's the culture. But, in large part, all those factors work together to inspire wonder in the kids who go there. I marveled at the world and my place in it. I desired to know how I could become the next Joan of Arc or Abraham Lincoln. Attending AHA was not a simple exercise of memorization and grabbing grades. When I attended, I didn't know I was soul-searching, but that's exactly what I was doing. You can't find that in just anywhere. It requires a special place, with special teachers, and special lessons. My teachers built me up, and gently nudged me in directions I didn't know I needed to go. I've long since graduated AHA, and I've long since graduated from my undergraduate. I am now applying law school. I often think about my time at AHA. I do not know all the details of what I will do with my law degree. I do know that I want to do something that will make a difference in the world for the better and I attribute that desire to my time at AHA. read more

We had high hopes for AHA, but unfortunately, our experience has been disappointing. Over the past two years, a concerning number of teachers have left due to conflicts around core values, curriculum, and a lack of support from school leadership. These staffing issues are not shared transparently with families, which raises questions about accountability and trust. New teachers are not adequately onboarded or supported, and that lack of investment is evident in the classroom. The quality of instruction has noticeably declined, and the impact on the students is real. Resources are also quite limited. Sports and extracurricular offerings are minimal, and if your child needs additional academic support or tutoring, you're often left to handle it on your own, assuming you even have the time or ability to do so. There are very few internal support structures to help students who are struggling. Despite what the school reports, student retention drops sharply between 8th and 9th grade, something we didn't fully realize until we experienced it firsthand. It's presented as a "strong community," but behind the scenes, there's a pattern of instability that shouldn't be ignored. While it may feel like there are limited options for K-12 education in the Vegas area, I strongly encourage families to do their homework. There are far more outstanding schools and programs nearby that offer stronger leadership, better resources, and a more supportive environment than what AHA currently provides. read more

I graduated from American Heritage Academy after spending 3 1/2 years at this school. Choosing a faith-based school turned out to be one of the best decisions my parents made for my sister and me. At AHA, students are encouraged to incorporate prayer and faith into their daily learning, a privilege that many other schools don't offer. The curriculum is significantly more advanced compared to public schools in the area, providing a superior educational foundation. The faculty at AHA are passionate about teaching and go above and beyond to support their students. They don't just see you as another student; they take the time to work with you individually, ensuring you have the support you need to succeed. During my time at AHA, I was involved in many of the extracurricular activities including varsity sports, student government, and theater. We have 2 children attending AHA this year and I wanted to share how much I love the school and how grateful we are to have found it. I home-schooled one of my children for a couple of years because the public school (in California) that he was in was not a good fit for him. He was so unhappy he hardly seemed like the same child. There were a handful of challenges (enormous class sizes being one of them) and although my son is bright, and a good kid, his teacher was overwhelmed by her class load and unable to help the children as individuals. I was very apprehensive about putting him back in school this year, but after a lot of research I decided to try AHA. I can honestly say that it's been better then I'd even hoped! The teachers my children have are unbelievably wonderful. They have gotten to know my children so well, and have made this year such a positive experience. I've been in awe of what the kids have learned and accomplished. The teachers set the academic bar high and the kids seem to rise to the occasion. I love the diversity among the parents and student body, and that there is a shared and intrinsic respect of God & country among teachers and students. read more

Thank Goodness for This School!! Class sizes and issues with curriculum forced us out of even considering public school. We looked into charter schools, but so many of them seem to be so disorganized, with under qualified teachers. We had toured Challenger and some other private schools, and after a lot of research and prayer, we chose AHA. Our family can't say enough about the staff and teachers here. It's obvious they are with AHA because they love the school and "scholars" as they call them. Every teacher my children have had genuinely cares. They give me their cell number, we text back and forth. The class sizes keep the teachers able to focus on and learn to know each individual student. When there is any issue, I know about it right away. Second, results speak for themselves. My child is reading and writing only halfway through Kindergarten. They are performing 2nd grade math, also in Kindergarten. And, they LOVE IT! The older children at the school are extraordinarily well mannered and polite. We have had zero bullying incidents, and nothing but great mentoring from the upper classmen. read more

Hi i am Dr Rafael Vazquez from Las Vagas Nv. and i have my 2 girls in this private school one in 1st and one in 2nd grade, they love the school every day i see them exited to be there, the funny thing is that they ask me to pick them up at 5 pm when school is over at 3 pm they love the after school programs, it makes me happy just to see them so exited for going to school, the teachers and staff are grate, before enrolling them in that school i visited 6 other schools but when i went to get the free tour of the school i was blown away for the vision and philosophy that they have, of leadership, patriotism, and character, in the other side the school has a certain atmosphere that makes you want to be a kid again and have the opportunity to go to a school as grate as this one, if you get the chance visit the school it is not like any other school a seen in las Vegas. From the first moment I entered this school as a prospective parent 4 years ago, I felt it was the place to educate my children. Trusting someone else to teach my children was not a decision I took lightly and I looked at a lot of schools before chosing AHA. My children are both thriving here. They are well above grade level in their math and reading and the my second grader knows things about American History and Geography that the average forth grader doesn't know yet. The work is tough but the children feel accomplished everyday This is a special place because the faculty are actually encouraged to care about their students. The show them everyday how special they are, how important they are, and what a difference they can make in the world. Very pleased. Like most parents, I frequently become hyper-critical of everything when evaluating the education of my children. Naturally, I want the very best for my children and consistently try to look out for anything which may enhance and enrich their education - thus I am very attentive to the quality of education/learning environment. I have and will frequently raise my concerns when they arise; however, with three children who have now attended this school for several years I can candidly say that this school has dispelled my concerns and has exceeded my expectations. The best school ever! Everyone in this school knows each other by name. I was shocked the very first time I dropped my daughter off at her new school on her first day (3 years ago) and every one who was outside called her by her name... very close- family-like atmosphere! Not to mention that my daughter exceeds in all of the subjects english, geography and especially Math! She is only 8 and she sits in class with 7th and 8th graders! Any gatherings where my little one gets to compete with kids from other schools, her extensive knowledge is so superior, no one her age ever comes to close to it. Not only she feels like she belongs there, but also the quality of education is unbelievable! We brought our children here after several disappointing years at a public charter school in the area. I instantly fell in love with the atmosphere at AHA as soon as I stepped foot in the building. My children advanced academically almost overnight. I can't say enough about how much we love this school. The teachers truly care about the children. They are communicative and readily available to answer any questions that I might have. The scholars here are taught about patriotism, faith, leadership, respect, along with an endless list of other positive values. The kids love their teachers and their friends. I find it wonderful that the lower grammar students have such wonderful examples to look up to in the upper grammar and high school scholars that attend here as well. American Heritage Academy has been a great school for our boys the past four years. One is now in middle school & one is in high school. The school has offered them an education that they could not have gotten at a public school. The on-level math is wonderful for the students who excel or struggle with math. They can go as slow or fast as they need to understand the concepts. The teachers are all specialists in their fields with extensive knowledge and experience. The best part of the school is the atmosphere. The teachers and administration really care about each individual student. There is no problems with bullying. With the class sizes being smaller the students get to know each well and develop lasting relationships. read more

We have been a part of the AHA family for 3 and will continue to be a part of it as long as I have school-age children. I love the values of the school and I love that we truly feel like a family rather than just a school. My son has enjoyed going to school every day and gets in the car excited each day. He is always proud of the things he is learning and I can tell he is not only learning, but retaining his knowledge. The teachers have been amazing and I really appreciate everyone at the school.
