Also, if you have a problem the school asks you to take it to the teacher when you do you can expect to experience what I experienced from the teacher turning into a BULLY! The teacher became defensive and started treating my child negatively!! Plus, turning on me! And when I sent an email to the principal w/concerns the principal printed it out, showed the teacher and they turned against me and made me feel like I was the problem not them! They are BULLIES!! They do not like parents speaking up or addressing their concerns or trying to advocate for your child. At the end of they year, you fill out a request for a teacher and the school NEVER honors your request! I know they sit around and discuss who goes where because I had another teacher inform me of this process. My 3rd grade son has been bullied since day one of 3rd grade, actually, since 2nd grade by the same child, as well as others. I contact the teacher regularly and she has told me that he's met with the counselors and principal and issues are resolved. Why is my son coming home daily begging to be homeschooled and crying because of another mean child? I have not once been called by anyone at the school regarding my sons behavior. If he is involved in any form of bullying, I want to know! I stopped in the office today to talk and raised my voice to show the importance of this issue to me and the vice principal and principal kicked me out, not caring to hear anything about what's going on. This is why children kill themselves....BECAUSE THEY CARE MORE ABOUT THE RAINFOREST AND TEST SCORES THAN THE WELL BEING OF THE CHILDREN!!!! Last week a child told him their life would be better if he were dead! I've told the teacher in an email and a very long phone conversation that my child is dealing with a death in the family and the separation of his parents so he's going through a lot. Nothing is being done! This school has become a nightmare.

My daughter was very smart prior to moving here and this school didn't slow her down. She has continued to excel in reading, math, science and Physical education. She has taken after school activities such as piano, yoga and even fun activity clubs and loved every one of them. I was able to see my child from a public trail and was quickly spotted by the PE coach as she confronted me and confirmed with my daughter that she knew me. I was really happy that the teachers have that level of care for the kids to ensure I wasn't a creep. The PTO does amazing things with a lot of dedicated parents participating. My experience with the teachers thus far has been amazing. You get a chance to meet more of them at community events and fundraiser dinners the PTO creates. The traffic came back up for drop off. The principal and other teachers out in the parking lot trying to keep parents moving any methodical pace. There is a flow to the process to ensure all kids get dropped off quickly and in a safe manner. The crossing guards are always there and always have a children's safety as the number one priority from what I've seen. I'm also amazed how the people letting the children into the school in the morning seem to know nearly every single one of them. My child's experience has been great. We dedicate a lot of time at home with our children to help them learn that at school. It seems the teachers do the same which makes the school work very well for us and our level of involvement with the children. The ram run is an opportunity for the kids to run laps in the morning before school starts and a great opportunity to motivate them to stay more active. My daughter really liked this and over the course of the ram run duration from October to May, she ran over 60 mi with a couple laps each day. This is not required and starts about 15 minutes before the bell rings. SafeKey is offered before and after school. I have only used a before school option. I know this is a CCSD provided function and not a school function but I asked the SafeKey teachers how they manage a number of teachers versus students and they told me they provide the appropriate number of teachers for whatever children are signed up for the SafeKey that day. One afternoon, I watched children throwing rocks into the backyards of houses so long the trail. I didn't expect there to be enough SafeKey teachers to be able to watch every kid at all times since they are all playing in the large playground. I told the kids to stop and they did. I then went over to the school to talk to the SafeKey teachers and they address it immediately. I never saw any children throw rocks again. Overall I think the teachers of the school are very attentive from my experience. I think the pickup and drop off goes as efficiently as it can go since the school doesn't actually have a large parking lot for everybody to park. It seems like the PTO and staff are dedicated to provide the best environment they can provide. I am very happy that I chose to live in an area that is zoned for this highly rated school.

It's quite a change in his academic progress and his enthusiasm for school. He says Yayy every morning when I tell him what day it is, and that's school day. He started reading when he was four and a half. I don't have to ask him twice when it's reading time at home. Somehow Challenger got him to feel like he is having fun when he reads or works on the worksheets. He is able to explain to me errors he makes on his worksheets at school, and able to show me corrections. I am happy with his academic growth at this school. I like that the school entrance is locked at all time. You can't get to the front desk before you get approved to pass through the locked entrance There were couple times I had issues with admin. At first, I didn't know the school required uniform shirt and pants. I only ordered my son uniform shirts and went to buy him pants from a clothing store. One day he came home in someone else's pants with no note to explain why his pants were changed. When I called, that was when I was informed about the mandatory uniform. I was upset at how they made him change into different pants at school, and how they didn't have the courtesy to call me to work out the uniform issue. Another time was when I received a past due notice, and a warning of my son's school termination if the past due was not taken care of by so and so date. I was not made aware of the due. When I called the school to take care of the amount, I was told that it was from the one day that we picked him up late. Ms Brenda always calls me back in timely manner. For how happy my son is at this school, I can look past all the admin issues I have had.
