We recently used Damon and crew to paint our kitchen cabinets. Before giving them the job, I got several bids from different painting companies. Damon's bid was very competitive and I appreciated his sincere responses to our questions during the initial consult. He wasn't trying to "sell" us to do more than what we needed to make extra money. Damon explained the process to us - we had older cabinets and had already changed out our countertops. He explained that they had to sand down the cabinets, prime and then paint the cabinets. I had a very specific timeline in which I needed my kitchen cabinet project completed due to the holidays. We agreed on the timeframe and his crew arrived the next week and started the work. Jason, the lead painter, was always very timely and polite - he is meticulous with his work and has an amazing attention to detail. The rest of the crew is also very courteous. They hand painted the cabinets and took the cabinet doors to be sprayed at their shop. They kept the job site as clean as possible and we had full access to our kitchen while the work was being done. The end product turned out beautiful - couldn't be happier! Damon is extremely responsive - whenever we had questions, he was lightning quick to text back. There were no surprises during the project (which we all know is rare!) - they completed the project within budget and on time. They are truly a no hassle crew and deliver high quality work. We've used Damon and his crew for two medium sized interior painting projects over the last two years. Both experiences were great. He is very accurate and fair with his bids, and the quality of work from his crew is excellent. The first job included painting as part of a kitchen remodel, including painting some older cabinets - they hand painted the interiors of the cabinet and took the exterior doors and faces to the shop to be sprayed - I was very impressed with how well they turned out - completely changed the look of our kitchen for the better. Damon and his crew were great to work with. He was able to come to our house and review the space we needed painted, which was around 1,100 sqft and included vaulted ceilings. I think he had a quote to us that evening or the next day, which was fair a very competitive relative to others we received. We ended up needing to reschedule because of a weather delay on a skylight installation, which Damon was gracious in accommodating. When the date of work came, Jason (Damon's lead painter for the project) and crew were on site at the agreed upon time and started immediately following a walk through and confirmation of expectations. On top of being polite, the crew was efficient, relatively quiet, and completed the job on time. Not much more you can ask for! These guys are amazing! They go above and beyond for their customers. Damon was super responsive and got our estimate and project (entire interior painting for 2300sf home) scheduled right away. Then, his team worked late to finish in two days! He even scrubbed all of our doors without charge to make them look as great as the rest of the house. His estimate was right in line with other companies, BUT his team paints by hand instead of spraying (which looks sooo much better!) With the minor wall repairs and paint, it all looks brand new. I have a 65 year old house that we purchased 8 years ago. We were SO excited that it had had only two owners and retained a lot of the natural "charm". Except after we moved in, we realized "charm" was cute to visit, but not convenient to live in. We have embarked on basically 8 year remodeling project and have hired about half of the city's contractors to work on our house. This is where Damon and American Home Painting comes in... We've hired painters before but they were either sloppy or flighty. Now that I've found Damon and his crew, I'm done looking for another painter. What did American Home Painting do for us - When we moved in, the prior people living here had slapped a coat of oil paint on all of doors, door trim and window trim that didn't adhere. We finally got everything stripped or replaced and American Home Painting caulked and painted all of the new and old trim and doors as well as the ceilings and walls on the main floor. And they repainted the bathroom when I realized that the color I had chosen didn't work. What I liked about their service: * Damon is amazingly responsive - I don't think the man puts down his phone with how quickly he responds to my texts and e-mails. * They were patient. Do you want to know how many samples of paint I purchased? About 20 shades of grey (almost enough to write a book!). They were SO patient in my inability to choose a color. * George, the foreman on our crew is amazing and great, a good communicator and keeps the place clean and tidy. * The crew is careful and I only found two drips in a massive painting project which is a small miracle in itself. * Damon and the team communicate and let me know what to expect. They kept me up-to-date on the progress of the project and what the next steps were. * No surprises - the project went overbudget and Damon didn't come back and try to change the price - he kept to his original estimate. * Reasonable prices - usually working with a crew this good, you have to pay 150% more than other contractors, but Damon's prices were right in line with the other competitors. I've hired them since then for my garage painting and step painting. The paint on the steps didn't adhere quite right and Damon has been ALL OVER IT to make it right. I'm going to absolutely hire them again for whatever our next project happens to be. read more

American Home Painting has painted two houses for us--a 1920s Craftsman and a 1951 midcentury--and both times were the best experiences we have had with any type of contractor. They painted the exteriors of both houses and the interior of the midcentury. Our exterior paint was getting shabby and I found American Home Painting on yelp. We received totally professional results that exceeded our expectations. Damon was great at communication, the bid was reasonable, and once we had a place on the schedule everything went like clockwork. Joel and David (he has a nickname but told me he prefers his real name) did a great job on our exterior and porches, they came early and worked as late as they needed to keep the project moving. They kept the job site nice and neat and cleaned everything up when the job was complete. Quality paint materials were used and when we had a last minute panic on our main color choice, Damon called ahead to Benjamine Moore and had them waiting for us 10 minutes to closing. Damon checked in often and keep us in the loop daily. Our only regret is we didn't know about AHP the previous winter when we had our interior painted by a company I would only give one and a half stars to. read more

I scheduled the estimate long distance from California for Mom's 1500-sf 2-story, 3bd/2ba townhome, and Damon met me right on time when I got there. He suggested a gorgeous gray called Revere Pewter for the walls, and we used it in every room. It was the perfect color. The baseboards, mantel, doors and trim all look brand new in a beautiful white called Cloud White. It looks like the house was just built yesterday! I hired Damon and his team to paint my 840 sqft condo, knowing I would be way too picky to get the entire project done in less than a year (*exaggerating for effect*). Like everyone else, I was skeptical on the cost of hiring someone else to do what I am technically capable of doing (for much cheaper). But I'm so glad I did! Damon was able to schedule me at a moment's notice. He had the entire unit painted in a week, including every ceiling in every room. As another reviewer mentioned, his team left extremely few drips and their lines/edges are impeccable. Damon was very flexible with my schedule and made sure to meet the end date he'd quoted, even though I added on the living room and dining room ceilings mid-job (after I saw how awesome the freshly painted ceilings looked in the bedroom). Damon also did his best to keep my costs down without making the project look cheap--I did end up spending the extra money, but he gets credit for not trying to gouge me out of every penny. Overall, It was such a relief not to have to paint the condo myself, not to mention I got an even better product than I could have achieved myself (with 250% more time and 1000% more stress).
