She had dementia and had previously resided at a higher-end memory care residence, a place that had a fancy physical look, design, and layout but did not serve her well; her care at that other facility was substandard and she suffered several unexplained injuries. We're so glad we found Eden House. The caregivers are all attentive and excellent. They made great efforts to keep my mom and the other residents comfortable and well-attended. As my mom became less and less mobile, she was at higher risk of developing a pressure sore and that eventually happened, which was not at all something Eden House could be faulted for. The amazing thing was that, through the great care Eden provided, it completely healed and never recurred. The caregiver-to-resident ratio is excellent. They prepare very good, nutritious meals. Eden House is extremely well managed. The home and rooms were always immaculate. We visited frequently and never observed any problems. Management and staff were always willing to communicate with us and kept us informed of any developments. The staff and management were always pleasant. They responded to all questions or concerns we had. It is clear they care a great deal for and about their residents. The physical location is great and the setting ideal, in a quiet residential community with a lovely yard and city park nearby.

We moved him to this facility after he broke his hip and he lived here for the remainder of his life (4 months) . During this time there would have been no better place for him. He was looked after by an extremely caring staff who tended to his well being with respect and excellent care. Some of the staff even spoke his native Italian with him and while in the very late stage of Alzheimer we still know by crooked smiles to the caregivers that he realized how they genuinely cared for him. If you are looking for a clean, excellently maintained facility with a caring staff and an owner who is an advocate for her residents, you will really want to check out Eden House. I would not hesitate to recommend the place. I know that from the clean facility, home cooked meals and best staff around Eden House was a blessing for my father and all of us.

There have been several recurring issues, major and minor. Poor communication of issues/priorities is a problem between managers and care staff, this very frustrating for residents and families. There are some benefits to be fair and report both sides: staff are kind to residents, food is excellent, activities are frequent. Still advice to families is to make a decision with eyes open, this is a new facility (1year old) with much to work out still.

We chose Anthology for the location, cleanliness & freedom to visit according to State Covid Protocol. They did a through job keeping track of guesst, visitor Covid tests & quarantine when necessary. The staff (Management, Health Assessors, Main Desk, Nurses, Janitorial, Maintenance , Dinning, Therapy, Activities...) are all as sweet as can be, which is very important, but they also follow all of the rules. Kaitlyn, the pleasant & very organized, manager, gave me her contact info & assured me I could call her anytime, She would immediately reply, which was such a difference from the last place mom stayed. It took a few days for mom to make her way out of her room, but once she did, she made many friends & loved the activities. Legacy in house PT OT & exercise class was an absolute blessing. Unlike other therapy places, they didn't give up on my mom.

Marketing is not in line with reality when it comes down to personal care and attention. Foodservice has a couple caring ladies but I assume they are trying to fight against a particular ignorant influence. Menu looks better on paper than what is placed in front of the resident. Some days we were there, the aides were embarrassed about what was placed in front of the residents. Laziness and a lack of concern was in charge of the food those days. Severe neglect can be a regular occurrence, and for that reason we cut ties very quickly and found a much better place for our loved one. Management downplays failures. They have no protocol in place for when staff calls in sick. The off going staff just leave and not even management will come in to cover shortage... leaving hours when no one is on the floor to care for your loved one. Unfortunately, there is a ghetto and extremely lazy attitude going on among those 30% and food service folks. Really bad non caring ignorance. The activity director is amazing and very caring. Angela, a supervisor, is a wonderful caring person but has some bad apples she has to try and make things work with. Unfortunately the business manager who hires has no concern for training new hires. All she cares about is her 9-5 in my observation.

There was a smile at every turn and the Clinical manager, Tracey, was so knowledgeable and well-versed is the needs of her residents. We toured many facilities and asked many questions to make sure that we chose one that could meet his needs. Sunrise has done a wonderful job. Justin, Chelsea, Angela and Jason (the leadership team) have been great. No question or concern is too big or small for them to address. They are easily accessible in person, by phone and by email. The care managing staff have been caring and attentive. My Dad can be difficult and they have handled him with respect, patience and when needed, humor. The entire staff has taken the time to get to know him and us as well. We all feel at home there, including my Mom, who will be moving in shortly. Placing your elderly, vulnerable parents in an assisted living facility is always scary. It is essential to find one that you can trust. Ask the staff a lot of questions and tour the facility numerous times. Once your parent is there, visit often, be involved, get to know everyone, continue to ask questions about their care and state of mind, share details (hobbies, favorite TV shows, food preferences, for example) about your parents. These factors will all help the staff and care managers understand and care for them better. We are very grateful that our parents are safe and well cared for at Sunrise Senior Living - Troy.

I can tell you a lot of the staff is very caring. I have personally worked with caretaker Jason before and he is is the hardest worker I've ever seen. You'll hear nothing but good things if you ask about him.

To Whom It May Concern,…read more I am writing to request an immediate investigation into concerns that have been publicly raised regarding the treatment and care of residents at Chester Street Residence in Royal Oak. I recently became aware of allegations describing potentially serious issues involving resident care, supervision, sanitation, medication practices, and staff conduct. The allegations include concerns that residents may be left in soiled diapers for extended periods, receive inadequate personal care, experience neglect, and may not be properly monitored for their safety and well-being. Additional allegations suggest possible inappropriate medication practices, including the use of medications in a manner that may unnecessarily sedate residents. Concerns have also been raised regarding staff professionalism, supervision, and overall compliance with standards expected in a long-term care facility. The reports further describe incidents involving resident safety, including claims of residents wandering away, escaping supervision, suffering injuries, and other preventable events. If true, these allegations would represent a significant risk to vulnerable elderly and disabled individuals who depend on facility staff for their daily care and protection. Residents of nursing homes and assisted living facilities deserve to be treated with dignity, respect, compassion, and professionalism. Family members place tremendous trust in these facilities to provide safe and appropriate care. Any indication of neglect, abuse, inadequate staffing, unsafe conditions, or failure to meet regulatory standards should be thoroughly reviewed.

They became like family to us -- offering reassurance, warmth, and understanding during a very emotional time. Knowing he was in such loving hands brought us tremendous peace. We cannot thank the team at Chester Street Residence enough for the heart they put into what they do. If you are looking for a place where your loved one will be treated like family, this is it.

We were so grateful to find St. Anne's Mead on 12 Mile in Southfield. There are various approaches to memory care but we really like SAM's approach the best. They utilize an approach called Best Buddy...where SAM actually hires someone to keep the seniors engaged informally. They have PT and OT of course elsewhere, but I love that this person's main role is to sit with a resident to share a cup of coffee or visit with someone alone on a couch, etc. The Program Director has a very sweet little dog she brings 3 days a week and the residents light up when they get to hold or pet her. The staff are all very respectful of the residents and do seem to like them greatly. They have many activities scheduled throughout the day so there is no sitting and staring at the television for hours. Their meals are delicious. As noted by other reviewers, the building is an old-style nursing home, but the interactions, smiles, and kind staff make it a very hospitable place. The memory care unit was recently renovated with nice size rooms and large private half-baths (showers without assistance can be quite dangerous for seniors with memory issues). They have their own dining area and integrate into the activities of the larger facility as much as possible. Don't be put off that the building is from the 1960's. It has everything you will need for quality care for your loved one who is struggling with memory issues.
