Later that same…read morenight, he suffered three heart attacks, followed by mechanical removal of the embolism, and two strokes between January 8 and January 18. After spending a month in the ICU and then another month at a specialty care hospital, my husband arrived at Pomeroy on March 6. At that time, he was still not meeting his ADLs and had a Stage 4 infected wound. I share this background because it's important to understand how complex his care needs were. Out of five facilities, Pomeroy was the only one willing to accept him. Others were unable or unwilling to take on such a complicated case, and for that alone, we are incredibly grateful. From the moment we arrived, the staff demonstrated professionalism, compassion, and a genuine commitment to my husband's well‑being. I would like to express my sincere appreciation for the exemplary care provided at this skilled nursing facility. Ray, Kelly and Jolisa, RN, consistently went above and beyond, ensuring strong communication and attentive medical oversight. A special thank you to Kelly, Wound Care Nurse, whose expertise, dedication, and kindness have made a meaningful difference in my husband's healing and comfort. The CNAs--Makela, Felicia, Octavia, and Jay--have been truly wonderful. They are patient, respectful, and consistently attentive, always treating residents with dignity and warmth. Their teamwork and positive attitudes have made a very difficult time easier for both my husband and our family. I would also like to recognize Tony and Bri, Physical and Occupational Therapy. They have been incredible--working tirelessly with my husband, encouraging him as they help him practice sitting up and standing. Even though progress takes time, they have never stopped believing in him or motivating him to keep trying. This facility is fortunate to have such a dedicated and compassionate team. I am deeply grateful for the care my husband has received and would highly recommend Pomeroy to anyone seeking quality, patient‑centered skilled nursing care.

She initially went to a nursing facility in Shelby which was horrific, but in a hidden blessing had to be sent to the hospital again for a surgical procedure. She was in a bed ridden state and Pomeroy Sterling Heights (Feb 2024 - April 2024) was 1 of 3 facilities I did research on and had received an above average rating from multiple research sites (Google, Yelp, various 3rd party home care sites). We were thankfully accepted and received A Class service. We did have a couple of hiccups but No Place is Perfect. The staff, Especially the Nurses and CNAs were SUPERSTARS!!! They deserve Praise and definitely a Raise!!! We would like to give a Shoutout Everyone - Front Desk, Social Services Staff, Custodial Staff, Cafeteria Staff, and Especially the Physical, Speech, and Occupational Therapy Team, Nursing Leads (Eugene, Manny, Ray), Kelli the Wound Specialist, Betty the Nutritional Guru and MAINLY the CNAs for their HARD Work and Nurses for Caring for my Mother!! Our Family would recommend Pomeroy Sterling Heights for their Rehabilitation Wing and Staff!!!

A stay here is a literal DEATH SENTENCE for someone who is already in a vulnerable state due to…read moretheir health. I added my review to Google last year, after the gross neglect here directly resulted in my family member's death. Reading the reviews on here, I am more horrified than ever. They aren't doing this for free! I have no idea how this place is getting away with swindling patients, medicare and insurance to get paid large amounts of money to NEGLECT patients. I do not know how this place is still legally allowed to operate. The Michigan Department of Licencing and Regulatory Affairs and the Department of Health and Human Services needs to, at bare minimum, conduct a mystery/secrect shop audit so they can see what really goes on behind closed doors. -------------- My loved one was transferred to the rehab here after a hospital stay. Rehab, not nursing home. This is a place where he was supposed to regain some strength and mobility. He had developed a manageable bed sore in the hospital. This bed sore grew exponentially in size and severity during the approx. 2 weeks he was here and looked infected. He was not receiving proper wound care or meaningful repositioning. The standard for bed-bound patients is to reposition them every 2 hours at minimum - particularly if a bed sore is already present. This was NOT DONE. He often waited very long periods of time in his own urine and/or excrement before being changed, greatly increasing the risk of bed sore infection in this sensitive area. He went into septic shock due to an infection and passed away. DO NOT entrust this place with your loved ones who may require any sort of advanced care or wound care. The purpose of my review is to warn others. STAY FAR AWAY FROM THIS PLACE.

Morty came up to me in my room and after 2 days said I need to "Fill out your contract." Giving me like 40 pages to fill out (He was trying to get me to sign-up full term without me knowing, (I'm Short-Term patient). I highly recommend you read this contract fully in Full and have a lawyer read up on this stuff before you sign as you could end signing up for services you didn't need or want.) Some things to keep in mind if you want to remove your loved one from the facility for whatever reason, You have to give them advance 30 days written notice by mail and pay daily room/service fees.) The discharge nurse was also trying to rush me to fill out paperwork and sign blank paperwork. BASIC ROOM FEES** =============== $544.00 - Private Room Per Day (As of July 2023) $444.00 - Shared Room Per Day (As of July 2023) ** Basic Room Fee does not include: Phone, Flat screen TV, WiFi, Meals, etc and must be paid in order to use (The paperwork stated see sheet which shows breakdown on fees (Not in packet). SKLD allows residents to order thru an online delivery service app thru your cellphone (optional), I had many problems with deliveries I had to buzz a staff member to look out for my items. No smoking on campus. FOOD DELIVERY TIMES ==================== 07:30 AM - 09:30 AM........BREAKFAST 12:00 PM - 02:15 PM.........LUNCH 05:30 PM - 07:30 PM........DINNER First of all I received very good care at this facility, I would receive a free Oakland Press newspaper and meds @ my bed 8:45 am, The activity director came to my room in person daily about activities till 7:00 pm. Then Breakfast in bed, Therapists coming to my bed for workouts. Whenever I pulled the call button for someone to check up on me. it was working with a loud beep and flashing light. The staff would come in my room in less than 3 minutes. they all but one treated me with the utmost respect and serviced my needs within 5 minutes. I personally never seen a nursing home with fast service and respectable staff. My requests were anything like Ice water, empty urinal, extra blankets, Pain meds, etc. Meals are in good portions, You do not get to choose your meal selection. so if you want more food I recommend a online delivery service. The Occupational Therapist and Physical Therapist were very nice and respectful and knew my exercise limits when some days i was too tired or weak they allow me to sleep it off. Exercise equipment is outdated (SKLD still have "Beaumont" imprinted on it). Exercise equipment was NEVER cleaned (Mud imprints on equipment/Floor) during 3 week stay, Yuck! STAFF TIPPING ============ On several occasions I tried to tip staff, They all turned me down! HOUSEKEEPING ============= Facility & Bedroom was kept clean (Except exercise equipment), empty trash. urine odor free thru out facility. RESIDENTS ========= I interacted with some residents in their rooms, hallways, Activities. They all seemed to be in good spirits. No abuse witnessed. RECOMMENDATIONS ================= Get a TV remote for the right TV (Room 130). SKLD should put together a welcome pack with plug--in headphones, sleep mask, tv channel directory, nursing home directory, etc. to make people more welcomed. Offer a stronger Wi-Fi signal as it kept going offline while I was there. I recommend you don't believe what SKLD tells online say about its residents, you'll notice 98% staff pics getting awards and not residents or photoshop pics from somewhere else. You want the real truth meet the residents in person and ask them questions about the place before you stick your loved one in here. . . We were so grateful to find St. Anne's Mead on 12 Mile in Southfield. There are various approaches to memory care but we really like SAM's approach the best. They utilize an approach called Best Buddy...where SAM actually hires someone to keep the seniors engaged informally. They have PT and OT of course elsewhere, but I love that this person's main role is to sit with a resident to share a cup of coffee or visit with someone alone on a couch, etc. The Program Director has a very sweet little dog she brings 3 days a week and the residents light up when they get to hold or pet her. The staff are all very respectful of the residents and do seem to like them greatly. They have many activities scheduled throughout the day so there is no sitting and staring at the television for hours. Their meals are delicious. As noted by other reviewers, the building is an old-style nursing home, but the interactions, smiles, and kind staff make it a very hospitable place. The memory care unit was recently renovated with nice size rooms and large private half-baths (showers without assistance can be quite dangerous for seniors with memory issues). They have their own dining area and integrate into the activities of the larger facility as much as possible. Don't be put off that the building is from the 1960's. It has everything you will need for quality care for your loved one who is struggling with memory issues.

I came by ambulance from the hospital and waited after ambulance driver buzzed to have the door…read moreopened. When no one came to let us in he called the front desk; still no one came. I suggested he call my son who had followed us to the facility. I figured he was probably in side looking for my room. He came and let us in. When we got to the room there was a nurse and an aide in the bathroom. There was no greeting. I asked the nurse to help me to the bathroom in my wheel chair. She said she couldn't help me because I "wasn't in the system yet". That was the tone of most of my stay (almost three weeks). An aide dropped me when transferring me to my bed. She had told me to to hold on to the drug cupboard handles and she pulled my up by the waistband of my pajama bottoms. I went into a full squat which had a terrible effect on my bone on bone right knee. Another aide left me on the commode for over an hour despite my using the call light and even called out. I was still using a wheel chair to get around. I struggled to get to the wheel chair as I hadn't used a walker yet and my feet were dangling from the the commode seat because it was too high. When she finally did come she said she just forgot. She asked me if I wanted anything else and when I said no she threw the light cord and bed position controller on the floor and left. The OT and PT people were wonderful and are the only reason I I stayed. They were so dedicated. I made real progress. The house Dr. came to my room to introduce himself and the second time he came he was their about 5 minutes when he said he would go and get a list of my meds because I had questions about why I wasn't receiving my basic meds. He never came back until a day before I came home and left when he saw the OT guy there and said he needed to talk to him. Never saw the man again and he billed my insurance for 6 35 minute visits . The experience was awful. I did meet a few people on the care staff who seemed to 'care' but by and large Not a very 'caring' group of people.
