We would recommend them for a number of reasons. 1) All the materials they use are very good quality. In particular, the cabinets are solid wood and an excellent value. 2) They took the time to sit with us so we could choose our materials. Even though we changed our minds afterwards, Sam was very patient and continued to advise us on our choices. Do not use American Kitchen Company! The actual work crew is courteous and mostly knowledgeable, however most do not speak English. The beginning of our kitchen remodel went very well, but problems began surfacing and that is when the owners, Kyle and Abel, showed their true colors of not taking any responsibility and being borderline hostile. I had to step between Kyle and my husband because Kyle was threatening him in the middle of our home. The cabinets, quartz countertops, and other merchandise are very nice and good quality. But, there is a clear lack of professionalism and customer service and it is replaced by finger pointing and leaving our project unfinished (we started in September 2020). I will not use them again and will never recommend American Kitchen Company to anyone I know. read more

They are the worst company ever. They are liars it took them 7months and they still don't finish our kitchen.the only appointment they arrived on time Is when they came to pick up thief first check, the destroyed out wall and didn't come back for 4 months. They only had one person to do all the work when they promised us a team of people. It's is now August 1 2019 and they been trying to get the permit since December 2018.They mixed the hot and cold water faucets. They got the right Materials but didn't do the right job. American Kitchen Company did a fantastic job remodeling our kitchen! After interviewing four other companies we decided to go with AKC because Abel and Kyle gave us good ideas for the project and told us to trust the process, They also gave an estimate very competitive on their first visit. They showed up to our meetings on time. Once we hired them they got right to work. It took 4 weeks to complete and they finished right on time. We get many complements on our new and improved kitchen. The workers always kept their working area clean and were very courteous when we needed to get by. They always considered different approaches of the idea's that my family and I had in mind for our dream kitchen. Whenever there was an obstacle in their way they never gave up on the idea my family and I had. They remodeled the kitchen exactly as we planned it. It couldn't have been any more perfect. I would NOT recommend American Kitchen Company. We had signed an agreement for a kitchen remodel and new flooring throughout for ~6 weeks. Demolition started on 11/1/18 and the project ended 3/20/19. We did not change the footprint of the kitchen, no walls were removed and the appliances all stayed in the same place. We did however bring our plumbing and electrical to code. The experience started very positive but things got progressively worse over time. It was communicated that the job would be project managed by an on site journeyman, he didn't have the PM skills necessary even for our small project. I heard nothing but excuses for the issues we faced with our semi-custom cabinets, our new counter, materials that were incorrectly ordered, unfinished painting, poorly installed flooring and baseboards, mis-leveled door pulls, longstanding debris and the list goes on. I have an excess of 50 emails and text messages where I tried to resolve this issue amicable. I requested to meet with the owner Abel twice and he declined, but finally showed up. To my surprise he created a long punch list which he emailed to me of things he felt were not completed appropriately or safely (stairs). He was apologetic and agreed to work to make the changes. Today our project is finally complete, but the experience was very poor and therefore while we have a nice space the process to get here was painful financially and in time. I am willing to share photos, emails, and the final punch list of things that were identified by Abel (owner) 3 months after the project was to be completed, and called complete. I have never written a Yelp Review but I am hoping that my experience will help others not find themselves in the same situation. read more

They were not pushy in trying to sell me any "extras." We had a 3-week timeline, but due to delays, the project spilt into the 4th week. The workers are highly skilled and detail oriented. American Kitchen Company, comprised of Kyle, Abel, and a highly-skilled crew of Finish Carpenters will expertly transform your project from drab to fab - on time and on budget. AKC was a new player to the game earlier this year and I found them (through Yelp) while checking out reviews for other remodel companies. In fact, we already had several quotes from local remodel shops in Concord, but Kyle's no-nonsense/no up sell approach, and honest projections on price and timeline totally won us over. They pride themselves on "Kitchens in 3 Weeks." Ours was a little more involved as we deviated from the standard menu. We elected to go with Starmark cabinets (designed and purchased from a cabinet co. in Walnut Creek) and Quartzite full-slab countertops (versus prefab stone.) As a result, our start-to-finish timeline was 8 weeks exactly. I must point out however, if not for Kyle opening our eyes to a design cue we never would have thought of (removing a drop soffit in the kitchen ceiling) - there is NO WAY we could have received the spectacular results we have now. Even when major hurdle cropped up, (upstairs plumbing in the soffit needing to be rerouted) Kyle and Abel proposed a fix (for a better than reasonable charge) and the crew went to work. There are several companies in this area you could choose for a remodel project. But be sure to take into account ALL aspects of the job: personality and professionalism of the lead contractor; price (of course); materials to be used; knowledge of building codes and permits; project expectations, timeline, and communication; job-site cleanliness; work crew quality and expertise; and follow-up when the project is completed. American Kitchen Company is an outstanding company!! Truly one of the last companies that actually puts its customer experience as its priority these days. In the past I have worked with other remodeling companies that were super friendly and nice until they had you sign the documents and then it was just a series of empty promises and days lost trying to get a hold of them and then acting like I was just a hassle and disrespected me as a customer, pushing me to a point where I just wanted the project to be over as soon as possible. Alejandra my Designer was caring and truly an expert at her craft, helping me to put my ideas and visions onto paper and making sure that they were implemented perfectly to the smallest last detail!! We contracted for a $50K kitchen remodel with a 4-6wk timeline. Sales rep said "there will always be two men working on your job". Not true. Of the 18.5 days of actual work performed on-site there were two men working together for a total of 5.5 days. In the first five weeks there was 11.5 days of work done on-site. They installed the wrong depth lower cabinets on one wall. I had to point out their error because no one from AKC was aware it was wrong. I contracted for all upper cabinets to go to the ceiling. AKC installed all 36"H cabinets which were 8" short of the ceiling; supposed to be 42" cabinets. They had to re-order, remove wrong cabinets, and install the right size cabinets, adding an additional 3 days to the schedule. If I had not told them it was wrong it would have stayed wrong; no one from AKC was aware it was wrong. I paid additional money to upgrade the backsplash. It was expensive glass tile and a complicated design. First quote for the cost seemed too high. I asked to see the order and have them check their calculations. They did and the cost came down by almost half. There were very specific manufacturer's recommendations for installation in order to achieve the desired high end look. First worker was installing the pattern upside down and seemed to be struggling with the install. I requested someone with more experience do the job. AKC sent someone who did a pretty good job installing the design but did not follow any of the manufacturer's recommendations. Result was a flat matte finish that should have been a glossy finish. You can't tell the difference between the matte accent tiles and the glossy tiles. Some of the paint chipped off some of the tiles when they were cut but it was installed anyway. I did not get the best result because no one from AKC was supervising to see that the job was done the best possible way. Job took 9 weeks to complete. This did include two holidays and one week of confusion in ordering the backsplash. We avoided adding an additional 2.5 weeks wait because of a non-existent back order problem. Otherwise it would have taken 12.5 weeks to finish. Actual days worked onsite: 18.5. If you walked into my kitchen you would say it looks good. You would say the backsplash looks good unless you knew how it was supposed to look. Then you would say it was too bad it wasn't done as well as it should have been because it should look great. It doesn't. If I had not told AKC the cabinets were wrong they would still be wrong. And you would not say the kitchen looks good. During one of my phone calls to AKC the office manager actually told me they had so many jobs going that they probably should hire someone to help Abel because it was hard to keep up with everything. I think my job paid the price for this in terms of time and supervision. I know all remodel jobs have problems and glitches. We had plenty of those, too. It's expected. But this was an especially difficult and unpleasant experience. No one from AKC realized any of their mistakes until I made it known to them. read more

American Kitchen Company is the best! They truly want you to be happy, and don't nickel and dime you to get there. You know how sometimes when working with contractors you "feel bad" asking them to do something that should be in scope, but since you never mentioned it before, you're worried they won't do it? Well you don't have to worry about that with AKC. They're usually a step ahead of you and are already planning to do it the way you want, or they agree with you and just do it. They're honestly the best guys to work with. On top of all of that, they're always available to talk or meet. Every time I call, text, or email, I get an immediate response. We had the unusual circumstance where two close families were going through home remodels at the same time as us. Throughout the process it was clear that AKC was far and away outperforming the other families' contractors. They completed the job faster, better, and with far more attention to detail. They show up first thing in the morning, and are usually there when I get home from work. They're highly respectful of our home and make sure to put down cardboard in all work areas to protect our floors, and they do a thorough clean up at the end of every day so we have a clean living space. We decided to go with AKC for our remodel and we are glad we did. It was a complete gut job and rebuild. Kyle and Abel gave us a fair estimate for the job and that is what we paid. No mid-project surprises or price hikes. From day one to the last day of our project, the entire crew was very professional and respectful. The crew would clean up at the end of every working day. Leo, his brother, Gabrial, Oscar, and Elias were very attentive to any concerns we had along the way. Whatever little issues did pop up, were addressed fairly quickly. American Kitchen Co did a remodel on our kitchen in 2017 completing it in June of that year. At least I thought it was complete. You had to send out workers three times to repair issues: the laminate had spaces between them, cabinets had screws that long and stuck out. They came and fixed these. I have contacted you three times since then regarding other issues. One was an above the stove vent that was not connected and so when you turned it one it blew into your face and not the outside. Today, part of the trim on a cabinet fell off. I found that the nails which held it in place were less that one eight of an inch long. There were only 2 and both were that length. I can't believe the shoddy work that you did. I would never recommend you to anyone. I would love to have you fix these things but you have never gotten in touch with me. We recently had our master bathroom remodeled by American Kitchen. One of the estimators Brad came out and gave us a bid, he was able to come back and sign a contract the next day after we had another estimate from a competing contractor. The other contractor couldn't get us on the schedule for demo until august and we really wanted to get this completed during summer break. Within ONE day a designer had called and set up our meeting to go over layouts and materials. It only took them 2 weeks to get the bundle together for us and permits from the city and we are off starting demo, not to mention the remodel only took 4 weeks!! As you can see in the picture attached my bathroom was very bland. AKC came in and made my dream bathroom! It is so elegant and spacious now, every time I walk in I smile just looking around. They never raised the price from the original amount bid, I did add some additional work to the remodel which of course I was charged for since it was more work than agreed upon, but the price was extremely reasonable. Any time I had questions the manager Megan was available, and the foreman Andres showed up onsite once a week to make sure thing were running smoothly. Living through a remodel is stressful and sometimes I over analyzed things but the detail in the finish work and all the hard work put in made it all worth it. After interviewing 3 different contractors, it was clear that AKC was the best choice for our home and timeline. From my first interaction with Kyle and Abel, I could tell that they take pride in the work that their company provides, they value high-quality materials and they are straight-forward and responsive. We met a few times to get the scope of the work settled before signing any contracts and because of that, we didn't go a penny over what was quoted. We have a very small space (hence, a smaller job) but we received the same attention that I'm assuming their bigger clients receive and I appreciated that. Kyle and Abel came to our home several times before we signed the contract with them to help us figure out exactly what we wanted. The designer and project manager were also a huge help to us, giving opinions and guidance when we weren't sure how to proceed with some of the finishes and space planning. This review is coming several months too late but my feelings haven't changed- in fact, they've grown. WE ARE IN LOVE WITH OUR KITCHEN and our master bedroom/walk-in closet! My husband and I bought our home last July and the kitchen was definitely lacking in every way. Kyle and Abel came within a week of us closing escrow and were professional, efficient, and honest. They weren't pushy or flighty in their estimate and assessment of the wok. By the end of July, we had our entire kitchen completely gutted! By the beginning of November, we had a brand new kitchen and a master bedroom and walk-in closet and were ready to move in! What sold us on AKC was having the opportunity to speak to real customers who used AKC in their own kitchen transformations and actually go to their homes to see the work and quality for ourselves! It didn't take much because the work and experience that their customer had was enough for us to run, not walk, to sign on the dotted line. Everything from the 3D design (love Sam) to working with their decorator, Laura, was simply a pleasure. I knew exactly what I wanted, which may have helped, but even then, Sam and Laura were able to suggest alternatives and other ideas that helped to bring the kitchen together. They were extremely professional, prompt and easy to work with. It was so easy to see my vision and their talent put together- I think the hardest step was seriously finding the right cabinet pulls, LOL. Working with Megan, the PM, was just a delight! She was on top of all my emails, text, phone calls, vm, probably to the point where she may have wanted to turn her phone off, but she was AMAZING to work with. If she didn't know an answer, she would find out and get back to me promptly, and I must say that she truly went above and beyond for us in every way. I was actually quite sad once our house was ready since that was kind of the end- she really is a great asset to AKC and I appreciated her help and guidance during the process. Remodeling is no joke, so it feels really good to know that you can trust a company to make you comfortable with the process. Their workers are friendly, hard working, highly skilled and detail oriented. They take pride in their work, and it really shows. While we did go over the project timeline by a month (I did have a little to do with that), it was well worth the wait. Our kitchen is the showstopper in our home, and truly something that all of our guests of come to admire and drool over a little bit. So thank you AKC cause that was all you! I've been slowly rehabbing an older home for the past 15 years. The first contractors I hired were very nice, seemingly fair, showed up regularly but I realized several years later the work wasn't as good as it could have been. You live and you learn. Next contractor was wonderful, amazing work, fair price but trying to schedule him or have the work done in a timely fashion was challenging to say the least. Which brings me to now and the reason for writing this review. A couple of months ago I had an unexpected bathroom leak and desperately needed to get it fixed. I decided to remodel the entire bathroom at the time leaving me with chasing my wonderful but scarce contractor and asking everyone I knew if they had someone I could talk to. My hairdresser was in the middle of a kitchen remodel and told me about American Kitchen Company. She raved about Kyle and Abel, the work they were doing, the quality, the crews. She trusted them enough to move out of the home completely and extend the job to include her bathroom and several other things...she and her daughters were just that pleased. I called Kyle at AKC, made and appointment and within a week signed the contract. He and his partner Abel understood what I wanted, provided competitive pricing, had the crew available to do the job and best of all committed to staying within price and on time. And they did. A crew showed up Every. Day. They were respectful, clean, fast and the work...? AMAZING. All my ideas - 1/2 shower, oversized tile, herringbone tiled floor, etc. no problem. And if i wasn't happy? They'd re-do it until I was. I was so pleased that I asked if they did more than bathrooms/kitchens, response -- everything but roofs. Do NOT use AKC! We had a great onboarding experience with the designer who was very hands on. However, once the demo began, John disappeared and our foreman became the new point of contact. That would have been fine except that Juan and his crew barely spoke English and wasn't proactive in communicating with us. The engineer made an error causing us to have an exposed beam. They said we were cleared to install new 8ft high doors (we weren't) and their mistake resulted in a 12 week delay! A Measurement error cut our island down by 8 square feet and we have yet to be refunded for that unused material. The work has been shoddy and the craftsmanship, a disappointment. They use wood filler as the answer for everything. They allowed the garbage and debris to accumulate in our backyard for weeks. They used a saw table and dumped the sawdust in our grass. We allowed the crew to use our bathroom and they rarely cleaned up after themselves, even though we left cleaning products out for their use. I have pictures of everything. This project was supposed to take 6 weeks, it's now been 6 months. They had the audacity to send a final bill even though we have not had the final walk through as they are currently fixing their work. We have requested a line item bill for 2 months and they have yet to provide one. Throughout this project we have asked for a timeline and they either never provided one, or didn't meet the deadlines they provided. There has been zero follow through. We have cc'ed the owner (Abel) when an issue arised yet he only provided a short response and has yet to visit the site. He has been communicating through the foreman about the final billing (which we had questions about) but again, no clear answers are provided. Overall, terrible customer service. This is our first house and we have young kids. This was the first time investing in our home and this project has left us feeling disappointed. read more

The office staff is extremely courteous and helpful; John Davis is a gem. My husband and I hired AKC to do extensive work in our 1938 home; specifically plumbing, electrical, drywall/plaster repairs, and tiling, as we were renovating a kitchen and two bathrooms among other things. They came in after we'd had a terrible experience with a contractor that we had to fire! But, AKC did not let us down. In fact, THEY SAVED THE DAY! They did a wonderful job on our home, offering us all the experience they have in working on older homes like ours. Simply put, they are professional, organized, and honest. They are staffed with people you can easily consult with and rely upon. Each trade appeared to our home on time and on the days that they'd promised to be there. I never had to wonder when the job would be done; Elias our foreman always kept us well informed of what was being completed in relation to our desired timeline. If you're looking for a team of polished professionals that you can trust, with reasonable prices, years of work experience , and with as much passion for doing the work as you have for your home, call American Kitchen. I set an appointment with American Kitchen and received a phone call saying they were running a little late and then they never showed up for the quote. I called and the next day received an email saying they don't service Davis. I find it hard to believe they didn't know this before scheduling the appointment. read more

We have not yet had work done by AKC, but I will say how impressed we were with the promptness of Abel and Kyle. Their vision they saw for our kitchen was far more impressive than we ever could have pictured our kitchen to be. We had high hopes for this company due to some pretty good reviews. In June, we had Jason, Project Manager out for an estimate. Jason a friendly guy, strangely did not take any notes and joked about failing to do so. He rolled off from memory our major requests and said he'd have an estimate emailed by Friday. This did not occur, but on Saturday we received a phone call from a lady saying Jason had fallen behind in his estimates, but he wanted us to know that he was working on our project. I could not pin her down as to when we might hear from him. The next week was the beginning of the holiday week and we were pretty sure we wouldn't hear anything. The week after that we contacted Jason by e-mail and he responded a couple of hours later with an incoherent message(I can provide) followed a few hours later by a 2nd e-mail clarifying his first message. He thought he might have sent the estimate to the wrong e-mail and was on his to the office to check on it. He also asked us to be patient and he would be in touch. It's now 7/16/20 and we haven't heard a word from anyone. If this project was too big, too small or if Jason has personal issues the company should have followed up and we should not be kept on the hook. This company appears to be flaky and provides poor customer service. If this is how we were treated in the early stages what would it be like if we signed a contract? read more

Kyle was friendly the first time we met him and we wanted him to do our kitchen with him but unfortunately he never showed up to the second appointment even though he had confirmed he was going to come by and for that reason I give him 1 star. It's very disappointing when some seems to be a professional but their actions say otherwise. read more

This is the first Yelp review I've ever written. I'm doing it because my wife and I were so pleased with the service and end result we experienced from American Kitchen Company. Following a water disaster that basically destroyed the inside of our two-story house, my wife and I began the process of evaluating contractors to do our repairs. Our insurance company recommended a few names to us, but we decided to expand the search on our own. We interviewed 6 contractors. From the first interview, American Kitchen Company stood out as the contractor we wanted working on our house. The owners, Kyle and Abel, were prompt, professional, knowledgable, and truly concerned about meeting our needs. By the time we had our second interview, we agreed that we both wanted to go with American Kitchen Company. Kyle and Abel gave us a very competitive bid, scheduled our project to begin promptly, and met the deadline we had agreed upon for the job. Throughout the job, Kyle and Abel were on site on a regular basis making sure everything was going as planned, talking to us to see if there were any problems, questions, or requests, and providing us with a level of comfort we hadn't anticipated going into the project. American Kitchen Company's professional design team worked with us to assure we ended up with the exact design and materials we were looking for. Using a sophisticated computer application, we pieced together our kitchen, bathroom, closet, and cabinets on screen, so that we could actually see what they would each look like before they were ever installed. The design team also took us to their suppliers to personally select the exact types and colors of materials for our project. Once the actual work began, American Kitchen Company provided craftsmen that truly amazed us as to their knowledge and quality work (Andres and Louis, along with seperate flooring installers, glass installers, and granite and tile installers). The work was performed professionally, timely, and up to our ridgid standards (we both tend to be uncompromising and demanding). The workers arrived on time each day, worked all day, and cleaned up at the end of each day. The end result is a new home throughout. One we are proud to call our own. If we ever need to remodel again, there is nobody else we would consider for the job. We can't speak highly enough about American Kitchen Company and their team of professionals. We needed to remodel our kitchen fast due to some major damage. I called about 5 contractors to get bids and American Kitchen Co. was luckily one of them. Out of all the bids they had the best material(soft close doors and European hinges) and workmanship for the price, hands down. They also were able to complete the job before anyone else could right around the holidays. Kyle and Abels team did a great job on every aspect of the work. I have worked with a lot of contractors and unfortunately most times it's not a pleasant experience. Thankfully Kyle and Abel were always in contact throughout the process to make sure everything went smooth and FINISHED ON TIME WITHOUT GOING OVER BUDGET. There finished work is the best I have seen. I am now thinking about doing my master bath and having them do the work. If you look at there pictures, they will transform your kitchen or bathroom. My wife is extremely happy and so am I. I highly recommend them to all my family and friends. read more

I would recommend American Kitchen Company without hesitation. My small kitchen has been transformed into a far more functional and considerably more attractive work space. All of the workers involved in the project were skillful, hardworking, reliable and polite. It is a pleasure to witness workers taking pride in their craftsmanship. I am very happy with the end result of the project and I am sure that anyone who hires this company for home construction will be as pleased as I am. The quality of the wooden cabinets and granite counter tops is superb. The contractors were very helpful and flexible in working with me regarding plans for the kitchen. Came in today for a kitchen remodel consultation. Got awesome suggestions on some upgrades and the cost was fantastic. We were guaranteed a 3 week turn around which means it will be done before summer is over!! Can't wait to do the kitchen and getting consults on the bathrooms next!! read more

I needed to replace a desk and cabinets in my den, as the exterior was peeling. Kyle responded to my call. He and Able came out promptly and worked with us on a design and bid. The other two companies I called were slower to respond, and they didn't think I needed to replace what I had. Kyle was always uplifting and positive. I was pleasantly surprised with his workers, who were always on time, very neat, clean and respectful. When they left at night, they cleaned up the area they were woking on. I love the cabinets and desk area, with four filing units, soft closing doors and strong hinges. When there was a problem, all I had to do was call Kyle, and he came by to check it out. His workers fixed everything that wasn't right. He even installed a keyboard pull out shelf to match my height without charging me extra. He is a man of his word. I would use Kyle and his company again. read more

I have had a fantastic experience working with Kyle and Abel at American Kitchen. I selected AK for my kitchen remodel because they were up front, honest, knowledgable and they listened to me. I am so in love with my new kitchen and it came in on budget. The project took about 8 weeks, just 2 weeks longer than quoted, but that was due to availability of the flooring product. I also really appreciated that the crew was clean and highly skilled. I won't hesitate to recommend American Kitchen and I will use them for future construction projects. 5 stars for Kyle and Abel. read more
