Driving to Vegas, I noticed I was almost out of gas. Too far to turn back , too risky to forge on, I headed south (off the 15). The temperature was hot and the stress level was high--I thought I'd go bone dry on a country road. Wouldn't you know, in the middle of nowhere, was Post 751.
The stress flew from my body with the knowledge that, if I ran out of gas, a call to the Legion would recover me and my family. I didn't run out of gas, filled up the tank, and stopped at the Post afterwards for a soda pop.
The friendly folks there verified what I thought and chastised me for not calling them from the road so they could "track" me. I thought I'd be treated like family there and I was. Highly recommended for veterans and their families read more
