The Rudy at Gold & Silver's Pets was a pleasure to work with. I have nothing but good things to say about his responsiveness and the quality of the min Golden Doodle he sold me. At my request, he did a live stream with my dog's parents and with my puppy (Beau). He told me before I purchased Beau that the puppies are kept with their litter makes in a large area covered with cedar chips and sure enough, Beau smelt like cedar when we picked him up. We picked Beau up in Durham, NC. Rudy lives in OH but makes frequent trips to NC to sell his puppies. It made me nervous to buy a dog from a breeder that lives so far away but it all worked out great. I highly recommend Rudy and his business. He sold me a beautiful boy! I got a dog from Connie Henley thinking that it would be healthy because she is the VP of the American Mastiff Breeders Council (per Connie's website anyway). The dog I got was sick from the day she came home. Though this can (if rarely) happen to any breeder, Connie refused to stand by her breeding program. Though my dog needed surgery to survive her chronic UTI's (she was on strong antibiotics for most of the first year of her life - never, ever getting over her UTI's even for a week)...and the vet warned us that the medication would be less effective and eventually our new dog wouldn't survive it. The medication for months, the vet appointments, and the surgery totaled about $10,000. Not only would this 'breeder' not help with any of the costs, if I wanted to return the dog for another dog, all travel would be on me. If I wanted to 'put her down' (Connie's other suggestion), that also would be on me - financially and emotionally. What's even more alarming, Connie said that these chronic UTI's are 'normal for the breed' and supposedly continues to breed this line, which in my opinion is criminal.
