Cliff is the man. For many reasons, I adopted this place last year as my new home field. I love this sport and can tell that the owner, Cliff, and his crew do, too. Has a year really passed?? Here we are again!! Another birthday party.. same place (prob different time) and same pizza place (Pizza Guys on Vasco spot on same as last time too!!) Not much to add except Cliff was awesome, place is fairly laid back (reminds me of my past skydives in Byron).. the paintballers and staff are all great to be around. Great vibe. This year we were here for my twins 13th birthday. They all loved it. Just dress for it! Paintballs can hurt if not covered, hence, I got less photos as the path up the hill where they went the second half this year worried me in my workout tights and short sleeve top.. the kids were all dressed for the occasion and only a few bruises but all say well worth the fun.. I visited APP for the first time today and had an amazing experience. I heard about APP because a bunch of their regulars/employees come to my home field and I absolutely love working when they all come by. They always come to my home field in large groups, are always super respectful, and they are very very skilled. I figured I'd finally give them a visit. Some small things that I really appreciated happened right when I turned in. They have a bunch of American flags waving around and every wood post has some decommissioned rental masks draping down. They make it very clear that if you're looking for the paintball field, you're in the right place. It really gets you pumped. Another random thing is that I love that there's two lanes for coming in and out. If you're a paintballer that visits many places, you know that most fields always have one lane for both incoming and outgoing traffic. As for this review, the staff here is amazing! I walked up to the front with my guys and was instantly welcomed by Cliff the owner. I love his positive energy along with the rest of the team. The field is pretty awesome too. It's one large field that they separate into smaller segments. Pricing here is solid. 30 bucks for self-equipped players + the price of paint. Their website says that you can bring your own paint as long as the "fill" of the paint fits their criteria. I brought some of my own paint but I made sure to purchase a few cases out of respect for the park. Paintball businesses deserve all the money that they can get to help grow the sport. If I were to guess, they run games every 20-30 minutes which seems like the perfect pace. I love that they get a game going and then switch sides immediately after so that we get the most out of our gameplay. As for the environment, I love how intimate the staging area can be. It feels pretty compact so you're always sitting with everyone else waiting the play. The sense of community is very very strong here. Overall I enjoyed myself and can go as far as saying that this is my new favorite place to play. Given that I live in Walnut Creek, this can damn near be my new home field that I can frequent. I love the field. The parking lot/staging area is great. Staff is amazing and the business is ran very professionally. I'll be back! read more

I book a 3 hr party pass for Sunday January 14, 2024 and we had about 13 people playing and it was a great experience of fun and pain (if you don't wear a lot of layers). We had 3 birthday in the crew. They gave us rentals of what you need (gun, mask, air tank, and paint balls) totally worth. The best part there's a dog name Chicken. He's the cutest!!! TL;DR: American Paintball Park is a _fantastic_ paintball park for both self-equipped and rental players. I recently returned to paintball after a 10 year break. I purchased a decent marker loadout on a whim and decided to give APP a shot with my brother based on stellar reviews. We went last Sunday (early December 2021). It was easy to find the field & park in the large lot. Clif, the owner, introduced himself and gave us a warm welcome right off the bat. He and his staff (including the refs) were top-notch all day. Prices were very good. The two paint options are fine - self-equipped players are not restricted to field paint. The "main game" runs all day with 10ish minute breaks and rotates through 6 different fields. It changes in size based on the number of players at the field. It got up to 14v14 (mostly self-equipped) at one point, but averaged probably 8v8, which was great. I was worried that there wouldn't be enough self-equipped players to fill the field - this was NOT the case. The other players were mostly regulars. All were quite friendly. There's a lot of "awesome marker, can I shoot it, want to shoot mine?" at the range. There were multiple rental birthday parties throughout the day. They were placed on private fields. There is more than enough room in the staging area for 50+ people. A couple notes: - APP does not serve food (besides water/sodas), but you can order to the field through DoorDash, and staff will hold the food for you if you're mid-game! - APP can only fill HPA to 3k PSI; I ran a 50ci tank but will use a 68ci next time All in all, I'm stoked to return to APP regularly once the weather clears up. APP is doing a wonderful job keeping paintball alive! read more

What a well run and inviting place to play paintball! I booked a 2 hr package for my boo's birthday, and have been getting lots of texts from all attendees about how much fun they had at American Paintball Park. It's a beautiful, spacious property with plenty of parking, and once we started playing, no one wanted to stop. Clif introduced himself, was extremely friendly and sweet, and helped me wrangle my party together in a timely manner to get us geared up and ready. Some of the members of my crew were late, and I worried that it would cut into our field time, but the staff was so incredibly understanding and easy going about the delay-they got us started late but gave us a full two hours of field time. Was not expecting that but am so grateful that they were flexible and low key! Chris was our ref and our chaperone(for lack of better words) and he fit right in with everyone and made us all feel comfortable. He was cracking jokes with us, paying close attention to the games in play, and keeping us safe. Awesome! I want to come back every weekend, and it's due entirely to the friendly folks that operate this park-the welts all over my body are something that I remember fondly, even though they hurt real bad. Had a blast! Multiple terrains, really cheap paintballs. We ended up with $25 each for 3 hours including everything (usage of the terrain, the rental guns, the paintballs etc). Best of all, the referees/instructors stay with you the whole time, are extremely professional, and guide you through the ins-and-outs of how each terrain is designed so you could see the unique strategies applicable to each terrain. I scheduled a 10-person Bronze party for my son's birthday. (this is in 2018 and I'm just now finishing the review--oops!) Anyway, we had like 7 and the guy who helped us encouraged me to join in so the teams would be even. Holy COW, was it fun. We did 2 - 3 rounds on the flats and 1 up by the "castle"... until one of our party spotted a snake near him! Not a rattler and I think not poisonous, and they roped off the area right away. Note that getting hit by a paintball can hurt like a mofo--especially on the head (even though everyone was wearing helmets that were provided with the party). Rang my bell but good. We love this place! We've been coming here with our crossfit fam since 2018 at least once a year. The owner, Cliff, and his staff are super friendly and very safety conscious. And they have an adorable doggy named Chicken who roams the picnic table area greeting all of the guests. We recently had a birthday party for a good friend's 10 year old boys and we had a blast. To the owner, thanks for making out FIRST paintball experience so easy and memorable! It took some balls lol for THREE GIRLS and the only girls being there. But everyone was so polite and nice. This is my go to field in the bay area! Cliff and his staff are awesome, they are so helpful and make you feel very welcomed. I have been here a couple times and each time has been nothing short of great. This is the perfect field to take anybody who might be interested in playing paintball for the first time. They are open on the weekends and weekday by reservations. The field here is nice and it seems very well taken care of, there are a couple different field options and I think one of the most popular fields is the doors field. The road into the park is dirt and has awesome decorations that gets you hyped for a day of paintball, It always gets my hyped whenever I drive through it. There are a lot of tables, benches, and parking available. It is in Livermore so it gets really hot in the summer so remember to bring lots of water, you will need it. The field is dog friendly and they have a cool dog that hangs out around the staging area named chicken! The field also lets you bring in your own paint as long as its not red, white, blue or pink filled. The games are combined for rec players and rentals unless you are a private group but the staff splits the teams up very evenly so it never seems one sided. I love that the games have multiple staff that will run up to you through line of fire just to give you a thorough paint check as if you are in an actual game. The staff also does chrono checks before each game which not many paintball parks do. They also make it very loud and clear when someone is out to alert everyone not to continue shooting at them. Out of all the parks I have been to so far, I believe this park has the best staff running games bar none. You can tell that they care about the safety and enjoyment of their players by the things I listed. The format for the games is that you play two halves and switch sides each time. They always change fields after every game too so it doesn't get too stale. At noon there is a 30 minute (I believe) lunch break where you can buy food from them or call to have food delivered ahead of time, they allow you to cook on site so my group typically starts grillin up some burgers for lunch. There are usually a good amount of players at this field every weekend and all the regulars are very friendly and will answer any questions you might have. I think this is the only field in the bay area that does specials during holidays where they lower the price of admission, paint, and have a bunch of giveaways. The last one I attended on the 4th of July had a turnout of about 40+ players and I won a jersey in the giveaway. You can typically find out about their specials on the facebook page or forums. This is definitely one of the best field for rec ball in northern California, I would recommend it to anyone asking for a field to play at. I will continue to come back here to play, I always have a great time I am sure you will too and I cant stop emphasizing how great the staff are. read more

I came here to celebrate my birthday with high expectations, considering the overwhelmingly positive reviews on Yelp. American Paintball Park did not disappoint! Securing a time slot for my private party was easy, and Clif was very responsive to my emails, even when he was out on vacation. Almost all of my friends and family who came were first-timers, and we were all a little nervous but nonetheless very excited to play. All necessary equipment was provided with the purchase of our package, including marker, hopper, air tank, paintballs, and mask. Since we got the package, we were able to play private games with our group on 5 different playing fields. The refs were clear on the rules, regulated and ensured fair play, and even gave us strategic tips on how to defeat the other team! Tips: -If you're inexperienced, get a group of newbies together and purchase a package! This way you won't get mixed in with the more experienced players and you'll stay in the game longer. -Keep your mask! It looks really cool and I plan on using it for when I go snowboarding! -Bring water and snacks for in between games. You will be tired! -Wear thick clothes and preferably something that covers your neck. I got hit in the collarbone a few times and it freakin hurt. Clif really made this a a great experience for all of us newbies. He was so friendly, and got everyone excited and pumped up to play. You can tell he really loves what he does. Everyone had such a great time and I was hearing comments all day about how much fun they all were having. I definitely will be returning. I have never taken my boys to paintball and we threw him a private b day party at American paintball. Cliff and his lovely wife and staff hands down are the most kindest folks. They exceeded all of my expectations, answered all my questions and big day came, 12 teenage boys had the best time of their lives. They gave them all the gears, bullets, pep talk and guided them the entire time, 4- 5 games against each other. I recommend private parties if they are teenagers, well worth it since some adults came in with full experience and fully geared. It's not cheap, but they had a great time. Before party ended, ran to Costco 10 mins away and picked up pizza and ate it there with no problems.
