I have started lap swimming on the advice of my physical therapist and doctor. The ticket window taker is friendly and helpful. The locker rooms (mens) is clean and the showers are hot. There is a spinner to dry your suit. The pool itself is 25 yards wide and has 12 lanes. There are four shallow lanes for people who are doing wading work. There is an advanced class that takes up four lanes at noon so it can get crowded for everyone else at that time. Water aerobics are in the early morning and other lanes can get crowded at that time as well. But the lanes are wide so doubling is not usually a problem. read more

This review is for the aquatic park section of the Community Center. It's inexpensive to go in; they have a snack bar (also well priced); and the pools are clean and feel very new. There are nice shaded bleacher areas, swim lanes, a kid's pool with a water slide, a deeper pool (with an obstacle course), and plenty of lifeguards on duty. We had a really great time and plan to visit again next summer. read more

I gave this place 4 stars, because he tried to contact them a couple of times and said it took them a while for them to reply back. Other than that, this place was nice inside! Came here for a kid's birthday party and it was a kid war zone. Kids everywhere. With my kid being only five months she really couldn't enjoy most of the things they offered here. There is a water park which the kids really seemed to enjoy. Not the largest park, but still pretty good for what it is. I really didn't have that many qualms with this place besides it needing to be a bit bigger. We were in a room with AC so that really helped as well. If you want your kids to enjoy a party with the pool, then this place is perfect. Just expect it to be packed. read more

I drive about 18 miles to go play pickleball here on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons. There are closer places but I like the Livermore Community Center gym because it is fully air conditioned (really nice when the outside temperature is 95° F+) and the people that play here are really nice. Non are too serious about the game and just enjoy playing the game with other pickleball enthusiasts. And all are so very patient even with beginners to this sport. In addition to the people that play, the staff that is on hand to set things up and check players in are very friendly and helpful. They all seem to genuinely enjoy doing their job and working with people. The physical facility is really nicely laid out. There are two main buildings with the indoor gym being the rear building next door to the Aquatic Center. It's always clean and well cared for. There is plenty of literature and promotional flyers for all their programs and activities. The City of Livermore should be very proud of this facility! Jim read more

This is a review for the pool only. Pluses: beautiful space, friendly staff, clean, abundant lifeguards, affordable, shaded structures, etc. They will also allow you to bring in your own food (e.g. we ordered in pizzas, yeah!). Not so good: the slide and obstacle course have a min 48" height requirement. That's overly cautious. My recommendation to management would be: 1. Put in structures that allow 40" + 2. Lower the height restriction on the current slide and obstacle course to 44" or even 42". Or even better (like in San Rafael), do a swim test: if you pass, you're good to go (and vice versa). This encourages kids to learn how to swim and is way, way safer than 48" (i.e. my kids probably swim better than the average 48" kid .. just saying) To the management: you may choose to ignore this feedback but ... we were here on a busy Sunday and NOBODY was on either structure. Pickelball a sport only for adults?? I went with my 9 years old to play Pickelball at the RLCC gym and was turned down because I was with my 9 years old. My kid play's tennis and Pickelball helps him to develop a better foot work. I don't subscribe that this sport is only for adults. Perhaps minors without an adult should be denied the entrance. This wrong policy should be reviewed since all sports are to be enjoyed by all members of a family. read more

The Cresta Blanca Ballroom at the Robert Livermore Community Center was the first thing I booked when planning our May 2009 wedding. My fiance and I spent many weekends looking at various venues, mostly in Livermore but throughout the Tri-Valley and East Bay (and of course, looked at many more throughout the Bay Area online). We didn't have a huge budget to spend, but still wanted a classy, nice space. We looked at many winery venues, and while they were nice, they had limitations (not to mention being pricey!). Most of them have a preferred caterer so you don't have a choice, plus you have to serve their wines whether you are a fan of them or not, and on top of that, the beverage packages could get expensive fast. Don't get me wrong, the Livermore Valley wineries are great, it just would have been more expensive and more limiting had we used one for our reception. I hadn't originally considered the community center, but when my fiance and I looked at it, we realized it was perfect for our reception. The building is so new and up-to-date, built in 2005, I believe. And if you look at their photos of the Cresta Blanca Ballroom, it is amazing how different events transform the room to their preferences. We didn't even need the whole room for our 115-guest wedding, but it was nice and allowed us to spread out and separate the tables/dance area from the food and bar. I love that the room has a built-in dance floor and temperature control (some of those winery barrel rooms are COLD!). And we had the flexibility of choosing any caterer we liked and supplying our own wine and beer (further saving $$). Aside from the beautiful day itself, the best part about using the center was probably the staff. From the facilities rental staff we dealt with when touring and booking the place to the day-of event staff, everyone went above and beyond the call of duty to make our day just right. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this place to someone planning a special event. You will get treated well and have a great venue (while saving $$)! read more

My wedding reception was held here in July, and it was such a wonderful and amazing experience. The Cresta Blanca Ballroom is spacious, with high ceilings, and can comfortably fit about 300 people. I booked the venue about 8 months in advance. Even a friend of mine who does wedding planning said that Robert Livermore Community Center (RLCC) is one of the nicest, most affordable community centers in the Bay Area. There is plenty of parking, which is also a plus. I worked mostly with Penny, and she was a pleasure to work with. She answered all my questions and was helpful in providing me with some of the vendors that have worked at the RLCC. My husband and I also worked with Armando and Kevin, who helped us with the set-up of our event. Armando was very accommodating to all of our needs, especially the lay-out of our tables and chairs, as well as our projectors and screens. He was very knowledgeable and patient with us when we made changes. We were able to use the projector and movable screen for a small fee. The tables were provided by the venue (included in the venue fee) and were set up by the time we were there to start setting up everything else. The RLCC is just a beautiful space. We actually had our cocktail hour right outside of the building in the breezeway area, which was perfect! Our guests were able to have fresh air and mingle with a cocktail, while waiting for the doors to open. My husband and I absolutely loved having our wedding reception at the RLCC. I would definitely recommend this venue for a big event, especially if you're on a budget. It really does have a lot of potential. As far as the pool is concerned, it's decent. Cheap? Yes. Convenient? Sure. Clean? Well, no. This place is a cesspool for bacteria and all sorts of germs and diseases. Given that it's not meant for college students, but during the summer, we too need a place to hang out and cool off on our days off. It's a standard bare-minimum maintained pool, and at the price they charge to get in, you'll find that that is exactly what you are paying for. They serve food as well, but it is over priced for what it is. Best to bring your own loot and enjoy it on the grass. The grass is probably cleaner than the pool.... read more

Pool review only: It's a nice pool for young children because it's walk-in and shallow. The slides are fun and the parents/caretakers do a good job watching their kids. The two problems I have are the membership restrictions and times of the pool. If you buy a seasonal pass, you should be able to utilize anything this pool offers like a morning swim, toddler time if you have toddlers, and the recreational swim. The pass is only good for the recreational swim that goes on from 12 pm-6 pm which seems like a good bit of time, but when you have a toddler that sleeps long, eats a late lunch/early dinner, you don't have much time to enjoy a recreational swim. read more

I gave this place 2 stars because of it being kid friendly, and a decent price to pay. But I came here 2 summers ago (2017 ish?) with my sisters and our kids. One of my sisters said she saw someone throw up. She proceeded to tell staff, and they didnt get anyone out of the pool. I later found out that like 5 parents who saw it told the staff, and no one did anything about it as we were walking out to leave. I took my daughter again today (7/2019) and overheard a parent saying that when they arrived, the pool was shut for roughly 10 minutes because someone threw up again. Obviously, a parent cannot control this. But what is this place doing to keep the pool at least somewhat sanitary when issues like this arise? They never did anything about it last time we were there because they didnt "see" it. Pretty gross...and this is how people get sick from public pools. We may possibly never come here again. read more

Came here today for the "Kidchella" event. I do NOT recommend for any child under 4 years old. I really wish they would've specified that the activities were for older children. Not to mention the 100 degree weather and no shade available. Every toddler I have seen has been beat red, sunburned, and crying hysterically. My son was playing in a basketball tournament at the LCC gym. During the game my son was injured. When I asked the people at the snack bar for ice they directed me to the tournament organizers. When I went to them I was directed to the facility staff on duty. That poor soul stared like a deer in the headlights for a few moments then suggested that I check the snack bar. Fortunately my son was not seriously injured and was fine after a few minutes of rest and some water. I suppose the tournament organizers should have had this covered rather than assuming the community center would be equipped to cover first aid basics. My recommendation is not to get injured at this facility because the snack bar folks will look at you with disdain in your moment of panic and the very nice but unprepared staff member will regard you with sympathy but stand and watch as you bleed to death. read more

My favorite form of exercise is swimming. No stress on the joints, no interactions with trainers, no special equipment, it's just you and your thoughts gliding in the water. The problem is always finding a pool, especially an outdoor one. When the weather turned warm, I looked up lap swimming hours at RLCC. To my surprise, the pool stays open year around for lap swim. They keep the pool heated. Wow, I would have been going for months. Lap swim is $3 for adults and $2.50 for seniors and children. They are opened for many hours during the winter and spring but I'm sure they will scale that back when school is out and the youth swim team starts practice. But they do have two pools so that helps. There are changing rooms and showers so easy to go before, during or after work. I went during lunch today and I feel SOOOO much better now. My mom made all the kids take swimming lessons for years but I've come to realize there are not many people my age who know the strokes. RLCC offers adult swim instruction too! If you have a need to swim outside (like I do) head to RLCC! read more

Great pool for kids to play and plenty of shade is the plus for this place. However, pools are breeding ground for adenovirus type illnesses. This place is no exception. Had three children all get sick with typical public pool virus. So good to know about Pharyngoconjunctival illness and what you might bring home prior to your next trip. Well, they offer a lot of classes at reasonable rates, I guess, but the staff doesn't do a thing to enforce any kind of order, allowing patrons to be run off by whole basketball teams who evict them from the only seating area available. This review is only for the pool and only because both my two year old son and my wife got sick after using the pool. Even though we didn't use the other amenities, the pool itself is very nice and the kids had a lot of fun there. However, the one star is warranted because the pool was not properly chlorinated. I couldn't even smell chlorine when I was in the water. Public pools, like public water parks need to take extreme precautions to ensure the safety of their customers. This includes water cleanliness since that is the main attraction. I'm not sure we'll use the pool again but maybe the other facilities. read more

This review covers the use of the Cresta Blanca Ballroom (North & South) for a pre-wedding event on Friday, March 13th, 2015. My fiancée and I stumbled across this modern gem of a banquet room while looking in the Central Valley area for a place to hold an event for approximately 250 people. The entire community center is sleek and updated, a rarity compared to other community halls. There is ample parking in the front and back of the center, as well as a loading dock area closer to the banquet hall (good for transporting large items/beverages/decor). The space itself is bare, with simplistic (but chic) lighting and basic chairs/tables. Everything else (food, décor, music, additional ambiance lighting, beverages) are left up to the renter to provide. We had a very easy time working with both Penny & Kevin in coordinating our event with our outside vendors. The center itself required little decoration and the staff there had the room setup with chairs/tables in the exact format we had requested. Kevin was very responsive via email in adjusting the layout and answering any questions about additional rentals (bar, cocktail tables, easels for pictures). The only caveat for this location is that the rental fee is based on time (hourly) so if you are on a budget, you also limit the hours you have to setup and teardown for the event. We cut it close with 2 hours set-up time and 1 hour clean-up. I only knock off one star for having some difficulty in reaching staff after their unusual work hours (which was 1pm on most days..) and the electronic message board did not display the message we had requested during the event (not a big deal). In the end, the event turned out great and we had no regrets for choosing this space. I would recommend this place for anyone looking for a nice event for over 200 people. read more

I've only been here once and it was to attend Toddler Time @ the Aquatics Center, but boy oh boy, does Livermore know how to do things right!!! The "kiddie pool" area is just plain awesome. Shallow, nice and warm, and has stuff for the kids to play and climb on. It's really wonderful that they set aside time so we can enjoy the water with the little ones before it is overrun with the older kids. The price of admnission is very reasonable and from what I hear, the locker rooms are very well equipped and to die for (bathing suit dryer...hello!). There are plenty of chairs to sit in and many are shaded, which is very nice. There is also a grassy area in the sun where you can lay out a blanket and catch some sun. I have lived across the street from the Livermore Community Center since it was built in 2006. I have been privileged to use the facilities there including the pool for lap swims. I have had several orthopedic issues (hips, back, etc.) and the pool (on more than one occasion) has allowed me to start walking and eventually swimming until I feel healthy enough to bike ride and do other physical activities to maintain my health. It has been a blessing for sure. I went to sign up for the lap swim (which a month ago was $26.00 for 4 lap swims equaling $6.50 per swim) and now I find no matter if I swim 1, 2 or 3 days a week, it's $80. A gym where I can do a lot more than swim 2X per week isn't too much more than this price. My body doesn't allow me to swim more than twice a week so if I sign up for July, (Tuesday and Friday) I pay $80 for 9 lap swims or $8.80 per swim. Really? Does that sound fair? If I wanted to swim once a week, it would still cost me $80? You may have a lot of folks signing up now (not sure I understand this) but it will not last once fall and winter come. You are effectively putting that fine pool (which was just refurbished beautifully) out of business. I guess you'll keep taking care of the water polo and swim team activities, but us lap swim folks are screwed. I'd rather pay $6 to drive to Shadow Cliffs and swim in fish poop then spend almost $10 for a 50 minute lap swim. So disappointed. read more

Went to a huge Indian wedding here. It was fantastic! The staff weren't jumping for joy at our presence, but the security was present and that's what they are supposed to do. The venue is great, it easily fit everybody and was the right temperature, the bathrooms were clean, and it transformed to a lovely space with lights and tables and flowers. The ONLY drawback was the ceremony was outside and it was so hot with no shade. The ceremony lasted hours; if you are going to have a ceremony outside and it's going to be warm at all, consider putting up a tent or shade. Parking was easy and it was a nice place that accomodated 400+ people. read more

I love our community center, especially the pools. The staff is friendly and I especially like that the lifeguards enforce the rules at the kiddie pool because sadly, there are parents out there who clearly do not follow directions and therefore neither does their offspring! The programs and classes for kids can't be beat. The summer sports camp was a hit! Private swim lessons with Patrick, although costly was well worth it. Clean, organized, easy plentiful parking..What's not to love? Since my son is now part of the Blue Dolphins Swim Team and training at the center, it will be our home away from home! read more

We had our son's third birthday party this April in the Elbow Room. We paid for a party package where we chose the carnival theme. The center did a nice job decorating the room and provided carnival games such as a ring toss and bean bag game. They also provided a basket of prizes for the kids and helped make carnival theme name tags. As part of the package, they provided more than enough tableware for our forty guests. The best part of the package were the party attendants, three very nice young ladies who were attentive and took care of everything. We would definitely have another party here. For the price and convenience, much easier than doing it at home. read more

My review is for the pool and water park feature: The water is way too deep for anyone under age 6. With that many kids, it creates a currant and my child got carried away and nearly drowned. I had my 4 month old on me in a carrier so I couldn't grab my oldest daughter- who was waving her arms, trying to stay afloat. The lifeguard? Yeah, just sat there and had to be told my daughter was in trouble. The lifeguard could see I couldn't grab her, due to my infant in a carrier. Hectic, not safe and the little kids get bulldozed by the older kids. We will stick to the water park in Mountain House from now on. This place cannot be trusted for kids under age 6. read more

I really like the RLCC. The Pool area is GREAT for kids. Its a playground in the water basically... kids just do not get bored in it! And the big slide is really fun! The lifeguards on duty are great, so you don't really have to worry too much if your child is in the mix, especially since the "play" area is shallow. I also really like the teen center. It is a great place for teenagers to hang out, play pool, air hockey, video games, etc... I just wish it was open later so kids could be in a safer environment at night (when they are more likely to be up to no good) The whole facility is really nice. The gymnasium area is great. I haven't been here for a wedding reception yet, but I hear they are nice! really pretty outside area. Clean. Big parking lot. I just hope that one day a fitness area will be added. read more

I was urged by my sister to pop a day off from work to go with her to my DN's music class. I followed suit and we headed to the Robert Livermore Community Center in Livermore where they have the music class tucked away in one of their many class/meeting rooms. Upon entering I saw many instruments and of course kidlets either close to the age of my DN or perhaps a tad older. My sister and I were greeted by the instructor then we made our way to the outer fringes where some chairs were set up. While my sister socialized a bit with the other moms, I grabbed a seat to observe. The moms and kidlets knew to form a circle in the middle of the room when the instructor said it was time to start. The class began with a "Hello Song" which I might add is cuter than a baby chicken peep. Of course so I didn't feel left out a "Hello to Uncle, so glad to see you" was sung and of course everyone in the room wanted to see who the creepy uncle was. Many songs were sung from a course provided book and instruments were used appropriately. I'd have to say it seemed like a lot of fun for the moms and kidlets alike! It was so cute seeing my DN dance during some of the songs (her form of dance right now is a butt shake, in-place hop and putting her hands in the air because she loves the night life, she's gotta boogie)! All in all I'm so glad I got to witness one of many things that will help her develop into a full functional human being because someone's gotta represent for my family!!!! read more
