One of the movers appeared to be intoxicated during my move. He was an older, shorter Hispanic gentleman, and every time he came near me I could smell alcohol. This made me very uncomfortable and raised serious concerns about professionalism, safety, and whether this contributed to the delays during the move. I was also charged a fuel fee for a move that was only 0.3 miles away, which felt completely unreasonable. On top of that, my final bill nearly doubled from the original estimate. I was charged approximately $350 for packing supplies even though I had already purchased and provided my own tape and wrapping materials and placed them in each room for the movers to use. I even have photos documenting this. When I questioned the charges, I was first told there was a misunderstanding and then told the supplies "weren't seen." Despite me clearly communicating that my own supplies were available, the movers chose to use company materials anyway. While I understand charges for sofa covers and a TV box, one of my smaller TVs had already been wrapped and I specifically stated it did not need to be boxed. They proceeded anyway and charged me for it. The most upsetting part was feeling pressured to pay the full amount before my belongings would be unloaded. After reviewing everything afterward, I truly do not believe the charges were fair or transparent. I gave the company an opportunity to resolve this professionally before posting this review, but the lack of communication and accountability has been frustrating. Customers deserve honesty, professionalism, and fair pricing -- unfortunately, that was not my experience.

They even gave us some tips on packing. While it took a few outreaches to get formally on their calendar, after that, it was all very smooth. We did all the packing ourselves, but they did offer that as a service (note: we had a couple plates break, so next time, we'll probably pay a little extra to have them pack instead). On the day of the move, three very kind, competent staff showed up. They were quick, efficient, and wrapped all our furniture so carefully. They arrived a couple days ahead of schedule to our new apartment (and called us to let us know in advance), which ended up working out beautifully. The unloading was smooth, too. They made moving from the heart of Washington, D.C. to the heart of San Francisco far easier than we could've dreamed.

Once from Indiana to Baltimore City, and the second from Baltimore City to Michigan. The first time I moved with them, the moving coordinator I worked with was very communicative, checked in with me throughout the moving process (including when my items were being picked up), and was conscious of my anxiety levels. The second time I moved, I needed to contact Stephanie to remind her of upcoming deadlines, follow up with her when she said that she would get back to me and failed to do so, and was also unprofessional at times, uttering profanities like "retarded" in reference to the move itself when on the phone with her. What's more is that one of my inventory items never even arrived to me. They launched an audit to find the lost items but came back empty, so I guess one of their workers just walked off with it. The pay out on the audit also was less than half of what the items were valued at. Some of the items that were lost can't be replaced. Like how does something just walk off? You're a moving company that specializes in moving things, and you're one of the most expensive brands in the market with guaranteed service. On a positive note, the people who picked and dropped off my belongings were very professional, on time, and handled everything like glass. Don't think I'll work with Perry again.

The company called to tell me they didn't have a driver and wanted to postpone the pickup. I explained that our flights were already booked for the following evening and that postponing was extremely difficult. Nevertheless, at around 6:00 PM that evening, they emailed to say they still couldn't find a driver, essentially forcing us to delay the move. We had no choice but to reschedule our flights, incur additional expenses, and postpone our travel, all because the company failed to honor its commitment. We had also made it very clear that the movers needed to arrive no later than 8:00 AM on the new date because carpet repair technicians were scheduled for 8:30 AM and a professional cleaning crew was arriving at 11:00 AM. The company assured us they would arrive by 8:00 AM. Instead, no one showed up until after 9:15 AM. The delay forced our contractors to wait, resulting in additional charges. The most upsetting part happened during loading. Our daughter's viola, worth about $4,000, was accidentally loaded onto the truck. Because it is a delicate wooden instrument that can be permanently damaged by prolonged exposure to summer heat, we immediately asked the crew leader to retrieve it. He assured us that once the truck reached the warehouse, they would unload it, locate the viola, and ship it to us via FedEx. We trusted his word and allowed the move to continue. Six days later, the shipment still has no driver assigned. Despite multiple phone calls and emails explaining the urgency, the company has refused to retrieve the instrument or expedite the whole delivery. They even told me that the crew leader's promise "doesn't count." Meanwhile, the truck is sitting in extreme summer temperatures, putting our daughter's instrument at serious risk of irreversible damage. Today, they stopped answering my phone calls altogether. Instead, they replied an email by telling me to contact United Van Lines about its delay policy, effectively passing the responsibility elsewhere instead of resolving the problems they created. My family has been patient, cooperative, and reasonable throughout this process. We rearranged our travel plans to accommodate the company's scheduling failure, yet they have repeatedly failed to keep their promises or communicate responsibly. I am a professor and clinician who cares for cancer patients. In both my professional and personal life, honesty, integrity, and keeping the promise are fundamental values. It is deeply disappointing to experience such poor communication, broken promises, and lack of accountability from a company entrusted with transporting our family's belongings. They wrapped his things up and provided furniture covers before putting his things into the truck. We met them at his storage unit and when we thought the storage unit would be too small, they looked it over and said they could fit everything. They meticulously maneuvered everything into our unit and got it all to fit! Because of this, they saved us from having to pay more money for a larger unit. We honestly had a good experience from start to finish and are greatly appreciative for their assistance. Plus, their pricing was incredibly reasonable. We will definitely be using them again.
