A colleague recommended to me and my husband Town & Country Movers. We did a live video walk-through of our apartment to get a price estimate, which felt fair for the amount of stuff we had and the cross-country distance we were planning. They even gave us some tips on packing. While it took a few outreaches to get formally on their calendar, after that, it was all very smooth. We did all the packing ourselves, but they did offer that as a service (note: we had a couple plates break, so next time, we'll probably pay a little extra to have them pack instead). On the day of the move, three very kind, competent staff showed up. They were quick, efficient, and wrapped all our furniture so carefully. They arrived a couple days ahead of schedule to our new apartment (and called us to let us know in advance), which ended up working out beautifully. The unloading was smooth, too. They made the call to see if they had a truck coming from Florida to North Carolina and they were able to accommodate me quickly. I moved my 88-year-old mother from a house in Florida to independent living in North Carolina. The crew and their supervisor Paul made the move stress-free. These guys were amazing. We have some inherited antique furniture that we care about very much. The pieces are from the early 1800s and some are very delicate. One is a China cabinet with a glass front. The movers wrapped the cabinet with two thick moving blankets, wrapped them in plastic wrap, then, for the glass front, added a layer of corrugated cardboard, wrapped that in plastic, then added another layer of corrugated cardboard and wrapped that in plastic, then wrapped the whole cabinet with another moving blanket. This is more care than I have ever experienced in my 75 years of moving about. Other antiques were also very well wrapped, ensuring that all wood was wrapped so that there would be no scratches on anything. In addition, normally there is a limit on insurance in the fine print. Even with "full value", there is a limit to reimbursement of $1 per pound or so. There was no such fine print limit with this mover. All together, I would give them 12 stars if I could. read more

I used Town & Country movers for my move from Chicago to DC and couldn't recommend them enough. Customer service when deciding on the moving company was pretty good - they answered all questions and provided an non-binding estimate. The movers arrived in Chicago fairly promptly and were friendly and extremely careful when packaging up my stuff. They had protective equipment and wrapped furniture. My stuff got here in ~2 days because they had another pick-up. The movers who dropped off my stop on the back-end were different people but were still great, QUICK, and put everything in the right spot. One cheap mirror arrived broken but other than that everything arrived in tact. read more

I used T&C for my cross country move from DC out to the Midwest. Overall, I was satisfied with the service provided. I appreciated that Jackie came out and estimated in person, which many other companies were not doing at the time. This gave me a better opportunity to ask practical and logistical questions and get them answered before I signed a contract. Mario, the dispatcher, was also fabulous at ensuring both my requested pick up and delivery dates were as close to my requests as he could possibly make them. The crew that came to pack my house in DC was highly efficient and took great care of my belongings, as did the loading crew. However, after this is where some issues started to arise. Somewhere between my goods being picked up and them being delivered, the hardware for my bed and the drill bit we had loaned to crew to disassemble my bed was lost. Additionally, when my goods were moved from the shuttle that picked up in DC to the long haul truck, multiple issues occurred. The goods were loaded in an odd manner, such that bed frames and large pieces of furniture were jammed against the deck door, making it very difficult to unload the goods. Furthermore, my solid wood bed rail was sitting in the truck, not wrapped in any moving blankets at all; the bed frame suffered some not insignificant damage because of this easily corrected oversight. I also had to assemble my own bed, including buying replacement screws and drill bits because of the lost hardware mentioned above. While I understand damage is fairly unavoidable in a large move like this, I would not expect nice, large pieces of furniture to be damaged purely because of being wrapped/transported poorly. Additionally, it was forgotten multiple times that I asked for a full pack/unpack, and so the unloading crew had to call for an additional person the day of the delivery. Overall, satisfied with the move but I would have expected fewer of the above issues given that this company is on the pricier range for cross country moves. read more

Trust me..DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY! We used them to move to Florida...it went smoothly...Cost was approximately $6,900. Everything was great..no damage, etc. When we decided to move to NC after retirement..I called and spoke to the same lady who cared for us during our move to Florida. She did a FaceTime estimate of cost to move to NC...and said not much had changed in our furniture..etc, and said it would be a little higher due to higher gas prices and insurance...the first move was perfect..very nice leader (truck driver) and crew...the move to NC was different...different driver, crew was still nice but different guys..the leader seemed in a hurry, but it did not seem crazy...WELL.... When the arrived in NC...they said they had to rent a smaller 250ft truck...an 18 wheeler could not get to us..that was an extra $1,200... we were new to community, so did not ask too many questions...later to find out that an 18 wheeler could and has delivered here in our development..then it continued..the leader was telling the the crew to move, move..he wanted or needed to be in PA by night fall...we did not get a chance to see or check off when pieces came in..a nightmare..broke the head off a expensive ceramic dog..lost all lamp harps, lost bolts, screws to bed frames..lost a large box of yard decorations...some expensive, and meant quite a bit to us..then after they finished I told him about damage to our furniture..etc..he said to file a claim..and then told us, with less furniture,band that we were an add on move from Fl to Nc..we owed $12,000+...that blew our mind..double cost in less than 4 yrs. The claim form was so hard to complete...it asked questions that 99% of people could not answer...I called our rep with the company and she too could not believe the cost was almost double, she would look into it. A claim guy called us, and I explained the above in detail...heavy boxes, some they packed were left in garage, even though they were labeled master bedroom...boxes were everywhere, except where we labeled them to go..I sent clear pictures of damage. 1. Mahogany. Dresser, scratched so bad..chip off one leg at bottom..2. Nightstand with large hunk off the corner..all lamp harps and bed frame bolts missing...a very expensive leather lounger with broken brace at bottom..just broken...all pictures clear..they did send out a very nice local guy to repair the furniture, but we had to look for special bolts for beds..lamp harps...and the things broken..no help there..PLEASE do not hire this company...they said the scales do not lie..well., double the price is crazy, but we had to pay it...but learned a very important lesson..do not trust a company who wants to rush through and charge you more than double for a add on move. read more

I had used Titan Moving & Storage in the past, and when I contacted them for this move, folks from Town & Country showed up. I understand that Titan has become part of Town & Country. This was a fairly short notice move, so I was happy they could accommodate me. The packers showed up the day before the move. All the breakables were wrapped carefully. Those came through the move without a chip or a crack. The same could not be said for the books. One of the reasons I'd gone with Titan before was based on recommendations from folks who had lots of books. During the past moves, the books came through without a problem. This time there were some torn paperbacks and hardback covers. The move itself went smoothly. The movers showed up on time and packed everything carefully and efficiently. The movers were polite and thorough. When they unloaded at the new apartment, they asked where I wanted things placed, so it saved a lot of time getting settled in (the last move, they pretty much just dumped the boxes and furniture in the rooms they were to be in). This time they unrolled the rugs, reassembled the furniture, and put things where I asked. All the furniture came through the move without a scratch or a break. We contacted Martin who was very responsive with phone calls, dates and departure times for northern Virginia. They charged us $70,000.00 to $100,000.00, to movie our household items from Rockville to Gaithersburg, Maryland, for storage. Town and Country movers has a very deceptive and misleading contract, they only show the front page of the contract, where the customer signature is located,but the real contract is hidden on the back side of the same page and they do not let you see that. The terms of the contract only protects Town and Country Movers. When we called and complained, they told us to call a Junk Collection company to discard the mold infested contents. I had used town and country movers for over 20 years and never had an issue until this year. I moved from a high rise apartment to a 3 level townhouse and had to call the owner twice during The move. I had only 2 bedrooms of furniture, yet the crew of four still managed to stretch it to a 9 hour move. When the crew took over 3 hours to move boxes. and not one piece of heavy furniture (tables, beds, dresses, etc), even the owner was shocked as to their hefty delay!! I took photos during the whole move to prove they only moved 1 or 2 boxes/pieces at a time to the elevator and then down to the truck for hours. It also took the whole crew about an hour to disassemble a king bed frame. I had every item boxed and ready to go , including moving mattress covers. I requested a credit and have not heard back in over 3 weeks. Be aware that estimates are "ESTIMATES". A reputable company should not be wasting time touring either location when FaceTime and Skype are available to view furniture ahead of time!!! Experienced crew should not be concerned about folding blankets, but rather moving items inside the clients home! Owner truly doesn't value long term clients- so sad! read more

My brother used them when they moved and highly recommended them. I will do the same- I highly recommend them after our move. We moved from our townhouse to single family house and the entire moving process only took 5 hours! They came with a crew of four and with two huge moving trucks. I watched them wrap all our furniture carefully and was impressed. They dissembled the large furniture and assembled them back at the new location. They also placed all our boxes and furniture exactly where we wanted them at the new house. There was no damage to any of our furniture! A big plus they come with wardrobe boxes so they take all your clothes that are in hangers in your closets. They also threw out old furniture we didn't need anymore for a small fee. We moved May 22, 2022. They quoted me around 2K - at the end of the move, they presented me with a charge of over 4K!!!! Now, no one said during the day that they were going to run over. Absolutely NO warning. I call The estimator said that even 2K was high - he estimated high due to a heavy swing they had to deassemble and reassemble. Same with a hammock which was missing a crucial part of the frame when we got to the new home. On top of all that, they broke a chair, damaged pictures, cracked 2 lamps, crushed all lampshades (not one survived), broke a family heirloom soup tureen from italy in the 60s, and, worst of all is I just today found this huge GOUGE out of my Ethan Allen dresser. We have had 3 major moves in the last 10 years and we used Town and Country for the last move. I hate to be the one to burst the "5 star" bubble, but theft was an issue for us with this move. It is not possible to be on all levels of a house while packers are doing their packing. But there are several things to be aware of. Packers who show up wearing full skirts or carrying large backpacks should immediately send up red flags. The guys doing the heavy lifting did a good job, but even then the back of a wing chair came detached in all the hoisting and jostling. Fortunately, I was able to hammer it back together so it is usable. Moving is stressful and very expensive. While this company may be better than most, a non-response to our concerns about the theft issue is a definite negative. read more

Town and Country did a great job on our move recently. They were recommended by our real estate agent and we're glad we went with them. Jackie was our coordinator and was very easy to work with. The same crew came to our house for three parts of what was a complicated move. First de-cluttering some things in storage; then the full house into storage, and then finally delivery to our new home. Then we also had some things staying with them for longer term storage of a year. Everything went off like clockwork. Twice they showed up in the snow when we were really unsure if the'd be able to make it, they are extremely reliable. In addition they sent the same crew all three times which made it nice, we feld like we knew them and they were familiar with the move logistics. The workers were very careful with packing and moving items. With a big move they didn't damage any of the belongings or home. My wife packed her own china and that is where we had a single plate broken - honestly we should have had them pack them as they did a much better job as nothing broke in the items they packed! We would not hesitate to recommend Town and Country or to hire them again. Their cost while above the bare budget movers we found them resonable. The movers were very nice and the packing and unpacking were done well but there were some real problems. Their estimate was way off. I used move management services so I knew it would cost a lot. They estimated $5-6,000 but the actual charge was over $8,000. That's extremely poor estimating. This was a local move. The way they scheduled it was weird and inconvenient. They came in Monday and Wednesday to pack and moved me on Friday. They left my old place without having loaded all my stuff and I had to insist they come back for the rest. The person who I originally talked to, who had worked with them for decades, told me they would come back the next day for unpacking. That was a Saturday, so I quizzed her about whether they would do it on Saturday. She insisted they would, but the Move Manager said they never do that on Saturday which the other person certainly must have known so she simply lied to me. They came on Monday. Recently moved my father from Indio California to Severna Park, MD. Met the movers at my father's house. They called 30 minutes prior to our scheduled meet time(8:00am) and arrived exactly on time. I hired them packed up everything, and they did an excellent job. They then loaded up everything(including my father's 2012 Dodge Challenger) into the truck, very quickly. The movers delivered everything on the scheduled date. They called the day before and the day of the delivery to confirm. All items arrived in the condition they were sent in. Town & Country was recommended by our realtor, and we were very pleased with how the move turned out. We were able to schedule our move with about 3 weeks lead time without issue. When scheduling they offered to send someone out to take an inventory and provide an in-person estimate - which we used. Chris dropped by our old place and was friendly - also offering tips to make the move go smoother for us. The hourly rate in the estimate was in-line with other online quotes I received, so we decided to proceed. On move day the crew of four showed up on time and got right to work. We tried to have everything easy to move, and the crew used their tools to break down our bedframe and dining room table. All went well with the move out and once directed to the loading area for our new place things continued to move smoothly. The crew reassembled our bed and table and we did not find anything damaged as we proceeded to unpack and reassemble in the following days. Overall our move was estimated to take 7 hours, but we came in at just less than 5 hours. We were able to move a fair amount of stuff on our own in the days prior to the move, more than we thought at the time of the estimate, so the actual cost was below the estimate. This was a local move from MD to DC, and while we hopefully won't need the services of a moving company again for quite a while, we certainly recommend the Town & Country team. read more

This latest move involved packing and moving the entire contents of my mother's condo into a storage unit. We selected them because of their excellent reputation. Maurizio and his team did not disappoint; in fact, they exceeded our expectations. They were prompt, courteous, and very careful and went ABOVE AND BEYOND when we showed up to Public Storage, and there were no dollies available. Consequently, they had to move all the stuff up to the fourth floor without the large dollies that you usually find at storage units. It was quite a job and they handled the situation perfectly. I moved from dc to Virginia from one bedroom apartment to smaller one bedroom that only 20 min drive . I was quoted $900 which is high but they we're recommended by my new building . They make me sign and put my credit card for payment and overcharge me extra $450 even the movers lunch and on top of it they damaged all my designer Italian furniture . I had Insuarance for my furniture . When I contact them they didn't respond to me .. they said you have to file the claim which I did . I was told I will receive the call next day. It was our first time using movers and after seeing some of the horror stories on the internet, we decided to splurge on town and county which two of our friends used. Our takeaway? Yes, you will pay five star prices but in return, you easily get five star plus service. My husband and I were completely blown away by their professionalism, timeliness, and efficiency.
