I found them through Yelp! and did consider using them. In the end we opted to go with a company with a little more of a solid reputation, just for our own personal peace of mind. Our move is not a cheap one, and when turning over all of your earthly possessions and a chunk of your savings, you have no choice but to err on the side of caution. That being said, Jamel was an absolute delight to deal with. He spent 2 days corresponding with me about our move, the inventory, and explaining every single penny we would be charged. I cant say enough positive things about his professionalism and customer service. Unfortunately for PMS, I am not much of a gambler. If you are, and are willing to give the new kid on the block a shot, you should call Jamel. Jamel, thank you taking the time to provide me with such a detailed quote. I do wish you the best of luck with the future of your business.

They had a four person crew, carts, packing supplies, and a huge truck. They were also fast once on location. What I really appreciated, though, is that they were all very friendly and polite. So after receiving a few quotes from a handful of businesses, I went with Potomac Moving due to the speed of their response, clarity in communication, pricing and overall warmth and professionalism. In our first phone call to walk though my needs, they were very assuring and accommodating, which is a such a relief in the midst of stress and coordination that comes with planning for a move. They were also always very responsive in the few times that I reached out between the time I paid the deposit and the actual move. A night or two before, I sent at email regarding wardrobe boxes, since I was debating whether or not I should buy and have a few delivered to me. The owner responded quickly, assuring me that wardrobe boxes were tried, true and if I wanted to buy any directly from them that I could. That ended up being a great call, because they were able to properly enforce the boxes so that even the boxes filled with my heaviest coats remained in tact. On the day of the move, the movers were communicative regarding their arrival time. They were also very nice and hard working. I had a few large furniture items that needed to be disassembled and they ended up being quite beasts to tackle. But they worked diligently to break them down. Once it came time to move things to my new place, that was a breeze. One gesture that I thought was just so classy, was the owner called in the middle of the move to check-in on how things were going - I really appreciated that. Overall, would definitely recommend PMC - they're easy to work with, fair and transparent about pricing and you're sure to be met with professionalism!

Once from Indiana to Baltimore City, and the second from Baltimore City to Michigan. The first time I moved with them, the moving coordinator I worked with was very communicative, checked in with me throughout the moving process (including when my items were being picked up), and was conscious of my anxiety levels. The second time I moved, I needed to contact Stephanie to remind her of upcoming deadlines, follow up with her when she said that she would get back to me and failed to do so, and was also unprofessional at times, uttering profanities like "retarded" in reference to the move itself when on the phone with her. What's more is that one of my inventory items never even arrived to me. They launched an audit to find the lost items but came back empty, so I guess one of their workers just walked off with it. The pay out on the audit also was less than half of what the items were valued at. Some of the items that were lost can't be replaced. Like how does something just walk off? You're a moving company that specializes in moving things, and you're one of the most expensive brands in the market with guaranteed service. On a positive note, the people who picked and dropped off my belongings were very professional, on time, and handled everything like glass. Don't think I'll work with Perry again.

This has been, by far, the worst experience I have ever had with a moving company…read more The problems started the day before our scheduled move. The company called to tell me they didn't have a driver and wanted to postpone the pickup. I explained that our flights were already booked for the following evening and that postponing was extremely difficult. Nevertheless, at around 6:00 PM that evening, they emailed to say they still couldn't find a driver, essentially forcing us to delay the move. We had no choice but to reschedule our flights, incur additional expenses, and postpone our travel, all because the company failed to honor its commitment. We had also made it very clear that the movers needed to arrive no later than 8:00 AM on the new date because carpet repair technicians were scheduled for 8:30 AM and a professional cleaning crew was arriving at 11:00 AM. The company assured us they would arrive by 8:00 AM. Instead, no one showed up until after 9:15 AM. The delay forced our contractors to wait, resulting in additional charges. The most upsetting part happened during loading. Our daughter's viola, worth about $4,000, was accidentally loaded onto the truck. Because it is a delicate wooden instrument that can be permanently damaged by prolonged exposure to summer heat, we immediately asked the crew leader to retrieve it. He assured us that once the truck reached the warehouse, they would unload it, locate the viola, and ship it to us via FedEx. We trusted his word and allowed the move to continue. Six days later, the shipment still has no driver assigned. Despite multiple phone calls and emails explaining the urgency, the company has refused to retrieve the instrument or expedite the whole delivery. They even told me that the crew leader's promise "doesn't count." Meanwhile, the truck is sitting in extreme summer temperatures, putting our daughter's instrument at serious risk of irreversible damage. Today, they stopped answering my phone calls altogether. Instead, they replied an email by telling me to contact United Van Lines about its delay policy, effectively passing the responsibility elsewhere instead of resolving the problems they created. My family has been patient, cooperative, and reasonable throughout this process. We rearranged our travel plans to accommodate the company's scheduling failure, yet they have repeatedly failed to keep their promises or communicate responsibly. I am a professor and clinician who cares for cancer patients. In both my professional and personal life, honesty, integrity, and keeping the promise are fundamental values. It is deeply disappointing to experience such poor communication, broken promises, and lack of accountability from a company entrusted with transporting our family's belongings. By now, I still have no idea when our household goods will arrive or what condition they will be in. If you're considering this company, I strongly encourage you to think twice. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend them.

In the course of 2 years, company decided to raise my agreed rental rate 3 times for up to 50% more than initially agreed. After confronting the manager, I was told this is out of their hands since corporate decides when and how much the rental increases occur. Instead of moving my business elsewhere, manager offered a smaller unit at a much lesser rate, taking into account that "rate will not increase for at least a year and even if it does, increase will be marginal". Trusting this company I decided to go ahead with the downgrade. To my surprise, less than 4 months later I receive ANOTHER RATE INCREASE NOTICE!! This time the increase would be for more than 50% starting next month. This increase like all the others happen for NO JUSTIFIABLE reason. As expressed by many others, this company has a long history of PREDATORY BILLING PRACTICES. They purposely wait for you to be settled with your storage to increase your rates, not by a marginal amount but increases of over 50% of your agreed rental agreement. I appealed this with their superiors in writing but they failed to even respond. I am now in the process of starting to take legal action against this company and needless to say I recommend everyone to stay away from this corporation completely!

It was Bookstore Movers' excellent customer service that earns them 5 stars. The 3 movers showed up early and worked very quickly and efficiently. We had a dedicated elevator, yet workers often brought items down only one or two at a time. I also saw team members on their phones or standing around in rooms and hallways instead of actively moving things. These delays added up quickly. The crew also misplaced parts of our bed frame, and the pieces had to be found before it could be reassembled. That alone added nearly an hour to the move. Because the move took much longer than expected, the final cost was significantly higher than the estimate we received. We were also charged based on an arrival time that was recorded as ten minutes earlier than when the crew actually arrived. The team was courteous, but given the inefficiency, added time, and higher final price, we would not use Bookstore Movers again. This is unfortunate, because we had been happy with them in previous moves.

TMAAT was recommended and they did not disappoint! I called and spoke to Renada on a Wednesday to arrange movers for a week later. She was very patient and quickly walked me through the steps, took my inventory and answered questions. After some discussion with family, I called back to confirm and spoke with Derek who was just as professional. He suggested I might need three men instead of two and explained the pricing was basically the same. Upon receiving the emailed quote/pre-move confirmation, I noticed the starting address was incorrect. I called on a Saturday and Makayla updated the address while I was on the phone and promptly emailed it to me for signature. The day before the move I called to confirm everything and was told everything was set. The morning of the move, Jerrell called me with an ETA of 55 minutes. He, along with George and Marcus, arrived exactly on time and ready to help. All three were professional and very friendly, upbeat and positive for an early morning, and agreeable to wearing booties in the house per the real estate agent since it had been raining for two days. I admit they had bug eyes when I pointed out extremely heavy patio furniture, but they got right to work and were careful and efficient. They wrapped mattresses and patio heaters, were very careful with artwork and followed instructions of where to place the items as they took them off the truck in Baltimore County. I had paid $100 deposit prior to the move, and this amount was included in my final payment, which was shockingly the exact amount they quoted me in my estimate. No upcharges or extra fees. I honestly expected about $200 more in fees since I was right at the 6-hour deadline. I appreciated their honesty and integrity with my belongings and my money and time. They made moving day way less stressful and a positive experience due to their timeliness, professionalism and kindness, not to mention their lighthearted and friendly attitudes. I would definitely use this company again and hope to get these THREE MEN AND A TRUCK: Jerrell, George and Marcus. After the move, I got a couple of texts from Seth asking how the move went and asking for some follow up. I appreciated the reach out, as it showed the company values feedback.

I'll be blunt: fuck this company. I'd give 0 stars or negative if I could. I should've read more…read morereviews prior to hiring these incompetent people. Now, reading the other reviews, I feel like I dodged a bullet in a way. I'm actually flabbergasted this company is still functioning or allowed to operate. I plan to complain to BBB. To preface: I honestly don't even know what location my movers were coming out of. The paperwork was inconsistent. My paperwork listed Crofton, MD, but the individual I spoke with over the phone said they just have their Red Branch location now, so I assumed that's where they'd be coming from. I wouldn't trust any/either of the Maryland locations at all though. I booked a move roughly two weeks ago. A SMALL, very SIMPLE move. Just about 1 bedroom worth of stuff to a studio apartment 30 mins away (Dundalk to Towson). I spoke with Chantel on the phone and she was relatively nice and helpful. I paid a $100 deposit. As the move approached I received numerous calls, voicemails and texts to confirm my move. I confirmed with them over the phone. My new building is a high rise and I had to reserve a loading dock and freight elevator and the reservations are 3-hour time blocks. I blocked off 11am-2pm at the loading dock, informed the movers of this, and they assured me they would be at my place to begin the move between 8:30 and 10am-ish. At 9am I got a call from Two Men and the guy said he wanted to be "really transparent with me" and informed me that he had a "bunch of guys with the flu called out sick" and he would be unable to perform my move today. He asked if I could reschedule my move for 4 DAYS LATER on CHRISTMAS EVE. Are you fucking kidding me??! All my belongings were in boxes, I had slept on the couch because I took apart my bed and moved my mattress (in order to make the move easier for the movers), and I had nowhere to sleep for another 4 nights, nor any clothes, shower items, etc because everything was IN BOXES READY TO MOVE. What the hell?! I had this reservation for 2 weeks!! He then said he could do it tomorrow (so somehow he went from "I can do this 4 days from now" to "I can do this tomorrow" ??). He said he'd do it at a discount. I asked how large of a discount? He said he couldn't tell me LOL Are you kidding me? You're offering me a discount but can't tell me how much, what a joke. Unacceptable. At that point I was 1) running late to my loading dock reservation time, 2) very upset and angry, and 3) had a VERY bad feeling about these movers and no longer trusted anything they said or had to offer me. It was so obvious they were lying blatantly to my face lmao They really think I'm fucking stupid. I don't believe for one second that "all your guys are sick." Boo fucking hoo. Not my problem. Hire more employees so you can cover for the ones who are out sick. I am PAYING YOU to do YOUR JOB! How do I even know your guys are "sick" for real. I doubt they're even actually sick. They were probably just out late drinking the previous night or whatever and called in "sick." Whether they're sick or not is not the point. The point is that I DO NOT CARE, I paid for a service and I expect that service to be carried out. I got so pissed, I didn't even bother to call these idiots back. I am lucky to have some very supportive, very kind friends who stepped up for me and we performed the move ourselves in roughly 4 hours; myself, one man, and my (currently pregnant) best friend. To be clear: my PREGNANT best friend (who can't lift heavy objects at the moment) was more helpful than these ""two men."" Thanks to my friend's help, I completed my move without this shitty company, and I also got my deposit back (after my friend advocated for me and demanded it back). DO NOT HIRE. DO NOT LET THESE PEOPLE LIE TO YOU. DO NOT LET THEM LEAVE YOU HIGH AND DRY. DO NOT TRUST. I truly don't understand how they can expect people to simply reschedule a move the day of. A move is a pre-planned, pre-arranged ordeal. I don't need to explain this but many moves have a time constraint: my time constraint was just a loading dock, but often times people absolutely HAVE to have all their belongings out of a place by a certain day and time or their stuff could simply be thrown in the street. Sometimes emergencies happen and people have to move out FAST (for safety reasons, for their kids, so they can start a new job right away, etc). I'm lucky I wasn't currently in a situation like that, but it's unacceptable for a moving company to cancel on you last minute or not show up when your whole life revolves around your move and your housing situation. I am ultimately so glad these people never touched any of my belongings. My friends and I used our collective strength, motivation, savvy, and hustle to complete my move with one platform dolly and 2 SUV's. My friend said it best: it's a case of "if you want something done right DO IT YOURSELF."
