Regarding the rental term, our concern is NOT that the lease contained a written six-year guarantee. Before we signed, Jody verbally represented that the landlord planned to remain overseas for approximately six years while their children attended local universities. We relied on that information in deciding to rent the property and understood it to be a stable, long-term rental. Regarding the $300 late fee, our concern was not simply whether the payment processor was down. The payment issue occurred after the management company changed its payment system, and we had a three-year history of timely rent payments. Once we became aware of the problem, we promptly hand-delivered payment to the office. We paid the $300 fee, but continue to believe tenants should not bear the cost of a payment problem arising during the management company's system transition. Regarding cleaning, we understand that tenants may choose their own cleaner. Our concern was the manner in which the company's preferred cleaner was recommended, which left us with the impression that choosing another cleaner could affect our deposit. That communication created unnecessary concern during move-out. Regarding the security deposit, our concern is not the amount of the refund or the deductions, which we understood and approved. We specifically asked for information showing the receipt and handling of the original deposit during our three-year tenancy. Management confirmed that the deposit was held in a Broker Trust account, but did not provide the transaction-specific records or ledger we requested. That is the issue we are seeking clarification about. We appreciate the company's response, but our experience and the company's characterization of events are different.

If we hadn't investigated or pushed back on it they we're going to make us pay the fee. The plumber they hired for this service that never occured was from San Martin, a city over an hour away from concord...now why would we hire from a plumbing company over 75 miles away when we have plenty of plumbing services here in contra Costa county... Maybe more family business??? They refused to admit when a mistake is made and like other reviews say, they are hostile and just plain rude when you speak to them on the phone or via email. Toni basically has told me our property is not the kind of property they are used to managing and that's why we are not entitled to good service. "We don't manage apartments usually" we can tell! When you are running a business that has its roots in racism and exclusionary practices, you should try hard to not reflect that.

I tried getting in contact with Rob twice after not hearing back from him but was ignored. He took our deposit fee and did not run our credit reports. My fiancé and I have PERFECT Rental history, credit, job history, etc. We also provided Rob with two years worth of tax returns, current bank amounts, and bank deposit statements which all exceeded Rob's requirements. Since our reports were not ran, I asked for our money to be returned. Of course, no response from Rob. My agent was able to get in contact with him and was told that Rob chose another applicant to rent the home to. His decision was made even before checking our credit so he did not even consider renting to us and took our money knowing that he would not chose to rent the home to us. He was completely unprofessional by rushing us the day he showed us the house and by not getting back to us to let us know if we had been chosen or not. What's even more unprofessional is that he took our money knowing he would not lease to my fiancé and I. He has not returned our money and has not responded to texts and emails where we nicely ask for our money to be returned. I would NEVER do business with this man or this company. There are no excuses for the way Rob conducts himself as a "realtor".
