What we got done with them: Master bathroom floor + vanity Guest bathroom floor + vanity Living room + kitchen floor Kitchen cabinets Master bedroom floor We had a flood in our master bathroom and then right after had a flood come from our kitchen sink so we had pretty bad damages. Working with insurance was a nightmare because they low-balled us on a lot of repairs and cost of materials. We had met with one other contractor and he totally gave us bad vibes. The minute we met with TJ we knew we could trust him and we are so glad we did! He went over our whole estimate from our insurance company and explained to us which items we can get more money from and he handeled it with our adjuster which was such a relief for us. Dealing with insurance can be such a headache, he saved us from a lot of that. Once we received payment from our insurance, demo commenced immediately and they were done so quick! After that everything came together pretty smoothly and I loved that TJ kept the lines of communication open regularly and often with updates and honest opinions. He managed to get us a pretty good deal on the countertops that we wanted which was awesome. We felt like TJ genuinely wanted to help us out with anything he could. Even after the project was done, he came back to fix some issues we had, twice! (They were just minor spackle issues and he also put up our bathroom mirrors that came after the project was finished). As you're more than likely aware, finding a good, reliable, problem solving General Contractor is very hard to find. If you're looking for someone you can trust, you've found him in T.J. Afdasta, Owner of American Renovation, Inc. My wife and I have a two bedroom, one bathroom condominium and we decided to completely demo the home and start over. We began searching for a good contractor about a year ago and to make a long story shorter, TJ was the sixth that we reviewed. Two sort of started and then vanished, two were honest enough to say they were too busy, and another showed slight interest and then disappeared. Mind you, all were referrals. From day one, TJ evaluated our home, our vision, and found solutions where we thought we might be stuck. This was in part due to our home being built in 1976. Undeterred, he provided innovative solutions to plumbing and electrical rerouting, flooring, custom doors, a complete shower makeover and much more. Quite often when we had a naive idea, he would say 'If it was my house....' This shows you his personal commitment to not 'just do the job'. He wants his clients to be thrilled with the results. We had an added challenge in that we hired a designer from Kansas, that my nephew had utilized for his remodel. TJ had the extra level of working with her and to her design. He performed it seamlessly, correcting some details as needed per the reality of certain dimensions of our home. As many contractors, TJ has relationships with building material companies and we achieved additional discounts as a result. The great thing was that we had to order many items ahead of time to avoid supply chain delays and by the time TJ was ready to install them, if he found something not to his quality standards, he took them back himself. Most contractors would just install 'what you bought'. Our home is now complete; TJ even came back and professionally installed our artwork with laser precision measurements. When we walk through the door, it truly feels like we just bought a new house. My wife and I couldn't be happier with the result! To find a contractor that was honest, reliable, innovative, technically skilled, and not willing to settle for 'ordinary', was an amazing blessing. Finding a trustworthy contractor is no easy feat, but we've gotten so lucky with TJ. He was referred to me by a friend and we had him come out a few times to quote us on various projects. Although we didn't move forward at the time, we got good vibes from him and knew TJ would be our guy when we were ready to pull the trigger. We just wrapped up a remodel of our home and we are so, so happy that TJ was our contractor. He works hard, shows up on time every day, and is super communicative. I started a full demo/remodel of my house with a contractor. Halfway through, it became apparent that the contractor I hired was not experienced. The further along the process the more apparent it was, but since this was my first time remodeling, I figured this was standard (learned my lesson the hard way). The contractor I hired was not very skilled in laying glass tile in my bathroom and completely botched the job. I showed him the faulty work and he tried to tell me it's my walls and the structure of my house. I was not buying that for a minute. It was clear to me that he did not know what he was doing. At the same time, I found out my contractor was using someone else's license. I immediately stopped working with him, but at this point, I had paid him a lot of money and my house was still unfinished. In comes TJ. He was super cool from the moment we met and he was upfront and honest. My wife even told me not to be so open with him because what if he didn't want to take on the job. Boy am I glad he did. He assessed the damage and what it would take to get things completed. He gave me a fair estimate. He took on the challenge. He was also willing to help me get back at the original contractor. TJ to the rescue. All in all, he is the best. Hands down. Don't settle for less. You get what you pay for and he's worth every penny. Amazing work insted of trying to squeeze out money by adding more work he had alternative solutiins. we had a leak a few months ago and we ask for a quote to check for mold and repoace dry way and clean up. he was very straight forward and said right from the start i will cut little and see how far the mold is if it is so much it will be this price and so on. when he cut it there was mold spread a little more so he had to cut more but the price was extremely reasonable. he even told me to get bleach and spray it because if he does it it would be more money and its easy so i can do it myself. after all was said and done the price he quoted was very close to the actual price even after he had to do extra work. WILL RECOMMEND THIS TO EVERYONE. atleast get a quote from them to compare, you will not be disappointed. read more

As TJ did work for me in the past, he set the bar pretty high for my expectations. Yet the remodeled bathroom, inspired from the Ritz Carlson Hotel, was met and exceeded. The floor worked perfectly with the vanity and then the shower. He made sure that the work area was clean at the end of the day which it was even by my standards. I meet TJ in RI where I work for a large call center company as a project manager. I was extremely happy with TJ'S professionalism and work ethic. My background was is in construction so I know a qualified professional contractor when I see how he manages a project. TJ is exceptional not just in his workmanship but how effective he is in time management. As I stated I work in a call center building and there are challenges doing construction in that environment. TJ only needed a few requirements to work in this environment, examples are if you are going to make a lot of noise, and be aware of your surroundings. Part of my job is to make the call centers environment comfortable to its employees. I can tell you that any vendor that doesn't listen do not have any place in this environment. So I state all that because TJ exceeded and was complemented on this daily. I had TJ work on a number of projects from commercial interior new office spaces. Renovation of windows and doors and surrounding areas. Tile work in our commercial cafeteria. Tear down and rebuilding a roofing structure heavily water damaged. Everyone of these where completed as I would have wanted a contractor to have done on my own house. I also know he is a man with great character because he always was open and honest. It was a privilege to have him here in RI. I still remember that day he said he was going to make the move to CA. I was mixed with emotion because selfishly I hated to lose him but happy for him to make a name for himself in a much better market. TJ is amazing, he is attentive to detail and customer service. He oversaw an extensive renovation at my home. I could always count on TJ to provide a balanced assessment of what was needed versus what was optional. TJs workmanship is exceptional, he is very skilled at this trade and takes pride in his work. While a big remodel project is stressful, TJ was always reassuring and did everything possible to minimize the disruptions. At one point, the kitchen water pipes broke requiring the sink to be removed. TJ found and installed a temporary sink so I could have running water in the kitchen. The renovation area was swept and cleaned before TJ left for the day. He even brought the trash cans in from the curb and left a light on inside the house so I wouldn't come home in the dark.
