REVIEW: I love this gas station! For many reasons, including they are participating users of The Upside (see my bio) and the Rocket inside is so cool! Huge, open space. Many varieties of snacks and drinks, more so than the average convenience stores around the county. This is a big plus for me. Also, v clean restrooms! Whoop. Plus, they have a car wash/detailing on site (must try them next!) and you can also get an oil change if needed. Since it's conveniently located right next to the freeway you can pop here if you're in greater need than gas or snacks. The customer service is OK. I would definitely recommend!

If you can access the base, then you can access the beach and you're golden. This is an excellent spot along the Pacific coast. Nice facilities with picnic tables (some covered), showers, restrooms, lots of places to park, and easy walking to the waves. There is a large area for RVs with all the hookups. Navy Gateway has a one-story inn right here no more than a hundred yards or so from the sandy part of the beach. Alright, make that two football fields in length but I'm not measuring. Hold on while I take a sip of coffee....ahh, hit the spot. The area is located right in line with the end of the aircraft runway so, during a normal duty day, there will be lots of flyovers. Some people love it (like me) and some don't. But what are you gonna do? Besides the lodging, which you can't beat for price and location, using this beach is free! If you need snacks or other supplies, the Navy Exchange is back on the main part of the base about a mile's drive.

I recently had a frustrating experience at your store. I asked if I could be helped at self-checkout and was told I had to use the main checkout lane. I then went to the exchange/returns counter to see if they could assist, but was again told no and directed back to the same long line. This was confusing, especially since I've been helped at both self-checkout and the exchange counter in the past. I understand that there are policies in place, but the current setup doesn't seem efficient or customer-focused. It would make more sense to allocate staff where they're most needed, especially during busy times, to better serve customers and reduce long wait times. Because of this experience, it honestly feels more convenient to shop online rather than deal with in-store inefficiencies.

As always As I have said before in previous updates the Missile Park is a prime aircraft spotting…read morelocation for not only the USN, USMC, but also the USAF. This September was Grey Flag 2025. This was a multi service exercise off the coast that brings in the best of the best to practice. There seemed to be an heavy emphasis on electronic warfare and even the F-117 Nighthawk made a brief appearance. It is a bit more restrictive these days but the area and the spotting is not to be missed. At one point there were over 50 jets in the air off the coast and when they return the photography is spectacular if not fast paced and intense. The missile park is also a cool visit. There are ZERO services here so plan accordingly
