They have brought my overly worn, ripped and extremely dirty suede boots back to life! I have the hardest time finding tall boots that fit just right, and when I finally found a pair of course they had to cost me an arm and a leg. So obviously I wore these boots until they had no miles left. (Or so I thought). I stowed them away for a year never having a chance to get them repaired until now. The owner put a new heel edge at the bottom, did a miraculous patch job on this huge rip, and cleaned them up so well that they look brand new! Took a week to do and cost about $50. I cannot thank them enough! Already brought another pair of boots to them and can't wait to get them back!

Googled boot repair and Cedar Grove Bootery came up so highly recommended that I got my hopes up that these boots could be made wearable again. Well this afternoon I brought my boots to this gentleman (whose name I didn't get). The shop is well organized and of course full of boots! He examined my boots and regretfully told me that as a professional he could not in good faith recommend putting any more money into this pair of boots and that he would recommend buying a new pair. He looked at me so sympathetically-knowing I had an irrational attachment to them. He said he could take my money and repair the boots but they wouldn't last and he wouldn't want to do that kind of work. So I ALMOST asked him to repair them anyway. But when a pro is telling you your boots have died, it really is time to accept that your boots have died. I have tremendous respect for someone who has such high standards that they will turn down work if they know the result won't be up to snuff. I have ANOTHER pair of broken boots that I plan to bring there especially now that I know he is a trustworthy craftsman.

Damaged my Daughter's Prom Dress…read more Took it there to have the dress SPOT cleaned. That is an expensive hand cleaning technique when the item has parts that are too delicate to dry clean. The dress had rhinestone jewels on the strap. Perfect when I dropped it off, missing or damaged when I picked it up. The rhinestones were pointed out to them when the item was dropped off. This is why we are having it SPOT cleaned--to get the delicate care of hand cleaning the dress and not putting it in a solution or machine. When I showed the manager the damage he told me they just cleaned the dress and didn't notice the stones or pay attention to them. He doesn't see how that could of happened. How? By someone slamming the dress onto a counter while they were carelessly working on it. About 20% of the stones were broken or missing. When you are SPOT cleaning noticing the details is the job you are being paid for. You didn't see 40 1/8"-inch diamond rhinestones on the strap of a dark dress? It is not even on a section of the dress you need to clean. He did tell me that if I can do the impossible and locate replacement rhinestones from the manufacturer of the dress, he won't charge me to fix it. So far, I tried locating the stones from craft stores and have been unsuccessful. If this is how they treat their special hand care items, imagine how badly they treat all the other clothes.

He helped me order panniers and racks. He custom fit my front rack and had to send back the panniers as the company had sent the wrong ones. He took it into his own hands to order everything for me and was a huge help. I have had many negative run ins in bike stores around NJ but Bike Land was quite the opposite, Vincent is a knowledgeable positive influence ont the store and all that walks in. Just hope that he does not get snatched up by a competing bike store. I had an accident a few months ago when an unexpected gale force wind threw me 15 feet from the sidewalk into the street and into the path of oncoming rush-hour traffic. My wife found Mr. Maksoud's. At first I was a bit hesitant, but gave it a shot. The place is exactly what I like. Small, the smell of leather and shoe polish that greets you upon entering. Shoes and handbags strewed about. And in the middle of it all is George. Positive, quick with witty retorts, and busy working. He put new heels on a pair of old Cole Haan boots, that I wasn't ready to let go of. George even said they are nice and worth keeping. After about 9 days, I returned to pick them up. The work was great and the price was excellent. 40 dollars. Other places in the area would have charged double. I'm so glad my wife found this place. George also makes keys.
