    Ballet flats with new sole
    Eboni W.

Took a pair of ballet flats here to be resoled before I wore them and they did a fantastic job. They were extremely friendly and explained how to find the shop (new location in Weehawken). Pascual was very knowledgeable and recommended the best way to protect my shoes and showed pictures. The owner Ryan was very friendly when I picked them up. Turnaround time was also quick, they had them ready in a day. I will definitely be back to drop off any other shoes that need to be repaired.

    Resoled shoes

Ryan and the team at Hoboken Cobbler did a fantastic job resoling my husband's wedding shoes. We forgot to take before pictures, but we had an outdoor wedding and the bottom of the shoes were extremely torn up with almost no red left. The team at Hoboken Cobbler were able to replace them to look brand new! They were very knowledgeable and offer multiple options of resoling material, we talked through the options and decided on the Casali "mirror" option as we wanted to keep the original shiny look. We brought the shoes in on a Saturday and they were ready for pickup within just a few days. I'd trust them with any shoes repairs needs after such a great first experience and I can't recommend Hoboken Cobbler enough!

Half-sole added for traction- completely flush with the red paint!

Went to a wedding and my shoes were completely ruined. Dropped them off and got them back within a day. The shoes were as good as new!

DON't GET YOUR SHOES DESTROYED HERE! I CAME BACK HOME FEELING REALLY INCENSED!!…read more Guys, when I came here I thought I was gonna be greeted by Fernando, a guy who worked previously at a diff place a few years ago and moved here. He has now totally moved or whatever but he used to really go all out of the way with fixing my shoes, once he even trusted me to borrow his shoe expander at home and give him back in a week from this same shop. And he would treat my shoes so delicately and I would even give him a damn good review for his last shop where it was seen by thousands of people and that review was helpful to his business. When I came here, I wanted to fix a squeak on these very special, unique, hard-to-get different shoes, only on the right side. These shoes has glassy-like platform heels with really not too many dents and cracks on the white shoes itself. I would get stopped at the streets all the time for these pair of shoes. This Mexican guy came in from the back, he was very rough with my shoes, CRACKED IT OPEN SO ROUGHLY AND SO SUDDENLY and he added a new dent to my classy shoe and a sorta hole around the sides of my shoe! And I couldn't stop him!! I was so speechless and flabbergasted. The lady at the front (both don't speak English well), sorry to say, but this itself could feed into the problem cos you don't know what she is really communicating to the guy at the back and he just came to me and talking about the material "carton" inside or whatever. I saw the crack, I was so shocked, I showed it to my husband who was waiting in the car and he was saying what's up with the side of the shoe being a lil' gappy and open now, it wasn't like this. I came back in and the lady dared to say it's a pair of old shoes??? Gaslighting me? Some people are so ill-hearted yet acting so sweet and nice...?? She said she can show it on camera, I said, "Show me! I'm not scared!" How can I be scared if I'm telling the truth and the camera was facing HIM so directly and everything was obvious and could be seen. I kept saying don't you guys deal with people's delicate stilettos? She knew she was lying, the guy half the time went to the back out of guilt cos he KNEW he did something wrong with my show and don't even wanna apologize and he wasn't facing me. I was so confused I didn't even know if I should ask him to repair something 2 mins ago that doesn't need to be repaired in my shoe that new / hole gap. Guys, don't get your shoes destroyed unexpectedly in the hands of a stranger. I know I sound a bit fear-mongering, but when it happens, although people consider these things objects or materialism, such a perfect day and just a squeak in a shoe could turn sour.

It was exceptionally fused to the thin original bottoms. Looks like it came from the manufacturer. As well very pleasant interaction with the personnel to be had, particularly Davio as the primary customer service agent. Even got a nice polish for the leather as an added touch. In conclusion there's everything to like at HL&SR!

I've gotten a few things over the years, but now a days, I usually stop in to take a quick peek at what new vintage finds they have. It's been a staple here in Hoboken for as long as I've been in the area, and they also have a location in downtown JC that I love even more (mostly because they have a wider selection of true vintage pieces). The ladies that work in the shop are always friendly and helpful, always around if you have a question but never in your face if you're just browsing. The dressing rooms are small and not the most comfortable but they are there if you do want to try on pieces. Worth a stop in if you are in the area!

While they are very sweet it's just not as fun or helpful to shop there anymore. It feels as though the people working there just aren't as knowledgeable about fashion or aren't as in tune with peoples needs when they come in and say what they're looking for. I think the most disappointing thing is that I no longer can plan on finding something when I visit. I have visited about four times in a row looking for items for trips or parties or every day wear and haven't found anything that tickles my fancy. There seems to be a lot of T-shirts nowadays and things that aren't as inspiring for me. This used to be a go to no matter what occasion and it hasn't been like that for me for about a year now.

The zipper on my cabin carry-on had jammed completely and I couldn't get the bag open or closed properly. I brought it in expecting to leave it for at least a few hours if not a day or two. Instead, the person helping me took a look, got to work, and had the zipper unstuck and running smoothly in about 15 minutes while I waited. What really impressed me is that he didn't just fix it, he showed me how to handle it myself if it ever happens again. His technique: overstuff the bag so the fabric draws out and the tension increases around the zipper track, then give the caught area a few firm flicks with the edge of a credit card. The added tension plus the flicking releases the fabric from the zipper teeth. Simple, clever, and the kind of trade knowledge you only get from people who have been doing this for a long time.

The bags were returned by FedEx and have a glossy luster and shine now. The black bag looks like new and the white is better but not perfect.
