If not already known that this is the sketchiest taxi service used in Cortland, allow me to give you another reason. The driver in the taxi labeled "1" with the license plate 17960-LY, decided to speed out of a motel parking lot in McGraw, failing to stop and check for safety, and cut me off. When I honked and threw my arm up (like any person thinking "wtf" would), he decided it would be funny to mock me and flip me off. He then proceeded to do 20 in an 40. Apparently these drivers don't seem to remember that they represent a brand, and that their actions do matter. I hope that whoever the "manager" is (that doesn't seem to exist across many reviews) takes action, and that their employees receive consequences for their actions. read more

Although there are some decent drivers for American Taxi. There are certain drivers who have attitude issues. I understand that I should have told them about my wheelchair and the driver has back problems but so do I. I cannot walk without a cane, walker or wheelchair. I need surgeries to fix. I'm working on that. But, I am the customer and I don't deserve to be given a crappy attitude for it. At least I was respectful to him. Bad attitudes are not apart of a well run business. The company doesn't allow service pets unless they are in a cage. Just because one customer didn't properly control their animal. How would they like being put in a cage every time they were a passenger. Service pets should not suffer because the owner and most of the drivers are rude and treat their customers like a lower level of sub standard life. We are customers that pay money and aren't lower than plant life. They don't need to be in business unless they can customers like they're human beings!! Josh is a horrible dispatcher. He needs to be fired. Josh also is a driver. He eats while driving and throws his garbage out the window. Very bad attitude. Bad vibes. An hour wait is not acceptable. He drives off with out his customers. You will lose business with a driver and dispatcher that doesn't know how to do their job. Called got told 10-15 mins, 30 mins go by I call again. Got told I haven't forgotten about you, let me clear and I'll be right there to get you, 45 mins go by I call again, got told your picking her up you answer her, dude said I'm on my way to Homer for a call on my way back thru I'll pick you up! If I could give this cab company less stars I would. They were rude right from the get go. The cab was filthy and the dispatcher and driver both acted as if they were paying ME for the service and as if I was so fortunate to be able to ride in filth. They even got the address wrong (which I repeated 2 times) and said it was my fault because they were there but I wasn't waiting outside. I was outside, next to the curb as I made the initial call!!!! Do yourself a HUGE favor and call Uber!!! They were WAYYYY quicker, WAYYYY nicer, and the car was WAYYYY cleaner. It really doesn't cost much more and the experience is a million times better. I normally try not to give bad reviews but this company is horrible. read more

They told us it would be 10-15 minute. We waited over 30 and we called 3 different times to cancel and he would not cancel, said "it's coming right up, right up the hill". Tonight we had a friend that needed a ride after drinking. After our friend was told he could not have a ride I called the company to ask why. I was told that there job is not to give drunk people a ride ( the man that needed a ride was not baligerent what so ever) and that it is our problem. Worse taxi service I've ever rode with. On one occasion I called for a taxi, they told me 15 minutes and to be waiting outside for them. (Note: If they don't see you outside they won't stop. They'll just roll by in which case you will be left). Waiting outside for 15 mins wasn't an issue but after waiting an hour outside in 4° weather is where it became a problem. After calling numerous times to check on the status of the cab I finally gave up after not having a single call picked up. I don't recommend using this service. Most of the drivers that I've ridden with in the past are extremely rude and not to mention dangerous. I'd say Jay's and the new up and coming Victory taxi are probably your best bet. read more

I called at 10:45 am and asked to be taken to the local bus stop. They asked what time the bus was and I said 11:25 am boarding at 11:10 they said they would "be around to getcha" and hung up. The bus was not more then half a mile away from my house (I just didn't want to lug my suitcases) but after sitting in my kitchen ready for half and hour I realized I had made a mistake. I called back at 11:15 and asked about the cab I had ordered. The man on the phone answered abruptly saying "We're busy, the world doesn't stop for you college students. If you still want a cab I can send one now but I don't know." I quickly responded with a no thank you and hung up the phone. The college was on break so I can't imagine there were that many students calling in that exact moment looking for cabs, and if they were so busy they couldn't pick me up I should have been told that thirty minutes prior so I could make different plans. This whole ordeal resulted in me missing my bus and having to spend more money on gas to just drive myself to my destination. I WOULD LOVE TO BE REFUNDED THE $10 I SPENT ON A BUS TICKET FOR A BUS THIS COMPANY MADE ME MISS but I know that will never happen. Long story short cheep, waste of time and money, only call if you have absolutely all day to wait! read more
