Frustrated as am calling American again today for yet another water issue but I KNOW they will do the BEST job helping mitigate damage to our home. Realized I've utilized these guys 3 times and never took the time to write a review. QUICK RESPONSIVE CARFUL CARING THOROUGH AFfORDABLE Utilize this team as they know their stuff. How they helped us... 1. Water from 2nd story bath seeping through ceiling onto family room full wall of built ins onto hardwood. Their process saved EVeRYTHING but a rug raw sewage dripped onto to. What could have been disastrous was repaired w minor dry wall work on a ceiling. Miraculous as we had previously had 2 reputable plumbing companies that over including an owner and they couldn't find the problem. One suggested a squirrel had gotten into the pipe! AWD nailed it within seconds and brought in the necessary equipment to suck the water right out of the wood. 2. Outside spigot froze, pipe burst in finished basement. Wasted time trying to soak it up ourselves w a shop vac. Realized we needed the pros. AWD showed up quickly removed baseboards, drilled holes into dry wall brought in carpet fans & industrial humidifier. Had to replace carpet & very small section of hardwood. 3. We overfilled a sink main floor laundry leaked into basement. AWD came out advised me what to do. I pulled back carpet & pad myself. Since we had our own industrial equipment charged me a minimum fee. 4. Slow leak on water line to refrigerator damaged hardwood floor. AWD set up Matt to extract water. Minimum damage. 5. Dishwasher broke flooding kitchen. Zero question who to call regarding today's issue. Trust they will do a fantastic job. Yes, the equipment can be noisy. No, they don't spend in inordinate amount of time in your home. They will come in, address the issue, tell you their process & get to work. May need to drop by a few times to monitor things. The work was ok (not great, but ok). The problem was that they sent us a first bill for $4,500 even though we had been told that it would be between $2,300 and $2,800. This bill was larger than expected because the tried to charge for 13 hours even though they were at our home only for 4 hours. After a few days, they sent us a different bill for $2,100 with the correct number of hours. Why do you have me waste my time calling you three times and arguing with me if you are going to send me the right bill after all!? read more

Avoid Them - Terrible Service - $300 Wasted Date of Payment: September 16 I hired this company based on a friend's recommendation. They were quick to show up and even quicker to take my $300 payment. That's where the good service ended and the nightmare began. It took over two weeks just to get an adjuster out to my house after multiple phones and emails. Now, two more weeks have passed since then, and I still have no estimate for the work. My phone calls and emails have gone completely unanswered, which is utterly unprofessional. After waiting over 30 days for a quote and scheduling, I requested a refund yesterday for their failure to deliver on their service. I was flat-out told the $300 fee is non-refundable. They tried to tell me they were waiting on a reply from my insurance, When I asked for a copy of the correspondence it did not have a date when sent. I do not believe these are ethical business practices. I feel completely ignored, and frankly, I feel like I've been scammed out of $300 for no service. Scam the president Michael Wells came to my house suggested work I said no, many times as he was being aggressive and pushy, he sent a bill anyway so now they are threatening to sue if I don't give them thousands of dollars for work that never happened. She always answers the phone and she is a wonderful support system She always went the extra mile for me every step of the way. Ryan Albers was a dream communicator. He usually answered his phone and returned messages like lightning. He was a great constant follow-up expert. He never left one stone unturned. I commend Maggie and Alondra on pleasant voice tones at all times with many many calls and questions. The men that did painting and reconstruction were perfectionistic and careful in every piece of work that was done. We hired Amerian Water Damage to clean up and repair hour home, due to water damage. They came running to dry out our floors and showed much respect and concern four us and our property. We were appoiinted a top notch project manager Ryan. Ryan organized all the trades and did an exceptionial job from beginning to end. Ryan was very receptive and responded immediately to me whenever I called. Ryan always came to review and inspect the work on an ongoing basis. Ellis and the pack out crew did a wonderful job in packing and taking much care and cleaned up in areas where needed. The tile guy is the G.O.A.T in the business. Very precise and took great pride in his workmanship. The natual red head I believe is Chad is the best craftsman and has a pleasant demeanor. The painters were all great people and did an impeccable job. Overall, I recommended to my insurance company that they use American Water Damage as a go-to contracor. If I could give less than one star I would this has been horrible! I was contacted less than 16 hours after my flood and the really nice guy came and gave me an estimate. I figured if they could be here that quick they have to be great, right? I could not have been further from the truth. In all actuality I am not sure when my house will be fixed we are going on month three and no end in sight. It seems very unorganized. I must say the pieced in work by the outside contractors has been great, when they get here which you never can be sure when the company is going to send someone. The communication is terrible as well supposed to be here a1 100 they come at 230; Supposed to be here at 1000AM come at 130PM. The staff of the actual AWD is very rude and act as though they are far superior to everyone. Worst business I have ever worked with. We had a sewage leak and this company was recommended by the mitigation company. No idea why? From the unqualified and incompetent workers, to the contact individuals including Shauna and Keaton. Horrible communication from almost day one. There were actual shouting arguments that took place in person with Keaton at my home and on the phone. I wanted Shauna to come out from the beginning and Keaton said she usually doesn't come out to job sites. That's ridiculous. Shouldn't that be a part of your job when something goes wrong to look at it in person. She did finally come out after I persisted. This job took over 7 months to complete on something that should have taken maybe 3 months. We went thru 3 contractors to complete the job. 3! The first contractor Bernice was so unskilled we had to fire her. Her work was that of an amateur. Then they had Travis and Darrell come. Same story. Fired them too. Travis actually didn't show up for a week because he had "car trouble" and didn't bother to tell me. The only reason I knew was because I was the one who text him after he no showed. No one from American Water Damage checks in on the project until you say something or complain. They have no idea what's going on at their own reconstruction projects. When they came to check on my home they actually admitted the work was bad. I had to send pictures each time to show how horrible the work was. Then after the next new people came out same story. They hire unqualified people. Handy men. And Shauna says she has worked with all these people for numerous years and has all the confidence in their abilities!!! How can that be when they produce such horrible results. And then she admits the work is bad. That makes no sense. I have this all in her emails. She actually said this. So if you hire this company, you will probably get these people. So finally the third person, Paul came out and he had to fix all their mistakes. It's better than it was, but by no means a perfect job. This job was a complete shit show. Then they had to ask the insurance for more money on some fireplace cabinets for over $2000 that were definitely not worth that much. Travis did those wrong as well. Made them too small and spaced wrong. This job cost over $15,000 for a main floor sewage redo and it was not worth even close to that. Do not hire this company. You will not get any customer service and will get contractors who have no skill. They hire people who do not specialize in anything. Cheap labor. We had a water main break, they must've heard about it from our plumber. Two employees arrived, did nothing, called someone else to remove the water(billed separately) and dropped off two dehumidifiers and a fan. they did absolutely nothing else, and charged us almost $2000. When we asked for an itemized bill, they threatened to put a builders lien on our house. In my opinion, they are hustlers looking for insurance money with very little skill or expertise. do not trust these people, do not use these people, they are unethical. read more

They took 10 months to finish my basement to start with. They never really finished it I was just so tired of non communication and them telling me that something they forgot to put in the estimate for my insurance company was my fault and would cost me $500 . The stuff they did finish looks like shit. They left a 6 foot hole in my basement to the garage with no plastic and nothing to keep heat and cats inside my house that was a very expensive February on my bills! I have 3 different stain colors in the wood trim I have areas where they are 2 different levels in the walls I have areas where it doesn't touch the ceiling I have 2 holes in the drywall where they were fixing an area and created the holes and left them.they didn't put a shoe in around any of the walls because they didn't put it into the estimate to my insurance company They told me for flooring I could pick between 2 colors so I did and then they told me it's not in the budget I need to pay $2500 for it and that was a month after the Kelly carpet guy showed me which ones I could pick from. Why didn't you tell me sooner I could have picked something else! I have text messages emails and pics if anyone needs prof of how shift their customer service and work is!!! They brought back my stuff and said see you later and I was like where's the rest of it so they had to go get more of my stuff from their storage. They brought it back on a Saturday and that following Monday my dad passed away I'm packing up everything to move and realized they never brought back all of my stuff. I'm missing collectible Disney stuff and Star Wars ornaments a Christmas village set and other Christmas stuff in totes. Eveytime I call they tell me to call this Elias guy who's voice mail is constantly full. My guess is they went through my stuff and kept it or when I finally do talk to someone they'll say they don't have it and it's my loss. When they would call about their payments I would ask when they are fixing and finishing my basement and could quote word for word what they would say... My plumber also recommended AWD after I had a pipe break in my wall. They came out and were very good at the mitigation process and they let me know that they also did restoration, so I figured that was good. I SHOULD HAVE READ REVIEWS FIRST, because many other reviews complained about bad customer service, problems and delays. I have had a terrible experience with American Water Damage. They are slow to respond, do not provide any expectations or details, and at times have been downright rude. Shauna, the Construction Manager, would always say it is someone else's fault, include our own, that things are delayed or not happening; she sent the workers on other jobs while ours was supposed to be done; It has been 4 months (Nov 15 - Feb 19) and I still have a hole in my kitchen floor with just plywood nailed down in the place of a floor (not level or really a base). Dry wall was just done a week ago (not "done" yet) because I had Shauna come to my house and showed her mice coming in through the opened wall that was cut out during the water damage repair - mice coming in from outside because of the cold in to my "Open house!" Now I have mice galore who made a home in my house and can't sleep at night because I can hear them or even see them (15 mice caught and counting). Shauna put in orders for cabinets without ever talking with us about what we wanted, then blamed me for the wrong cabinets being ordered. Delayed our cabinets from coming in repeatedly so she can put her guys on other jobs. When only a half load showed up, the vendor said they had the rest of the truck and could deliver them that same day - AWD told them to hold off till two days later - then two days later, Shauna had her workers show up to take cabinets off the truck and told us we would have to wait another weekend to get them installed because her guys needed to fix a new job she assigned them to at another residence. (I too had to be extremely proactive and on their case; I ran around trying to get ideas of what we were getting put in once the repairs were made, because they weren't contacting us or coming out-only to have Shauna tell us we needed to go with the only company she works with and get the basic cabinetry (the cheapest, even though I had custom cabinets that were damaged). And they are always passing the buck and won't take any responsibility. I have been on the phone with them all morning with three different people each telling me it is another person at their company that is holding things up and that they will have someone out her today to do the work - 12 noon still noone and being told when I call them that they are waiting on the other person. Spoke with the worker who is supposed to do the work and he said he was told by Shauna to work on the other job he is on and "if he can" get here today, otherwise she will see about finding someone else to come another day! I have no kitchen (or living room because two weeks ago, Shauna told me they were bringing the cabinets and I had to empty out everything in my kitchen into my living room so they could pull cabinets, move appliances and install the new cabinets - which never happened!!) AWD is unprofessional, has substandard customer service, project management, and reconstruction. Oh and Yes - they do keep trying to pad the bills. No idea what materials, cabinets, or anything costs or what actual labor costs because they put it all together as some vague line item that doesn't tell you anything. I am not suggesting you stay away from them - I am TELLING YOU - STAY AWAY FROM THEM! You'll be sorry if you don't - unless of course you want you house torn apart for 4 or more months with no resolve in sight and a bunch of bologna for answers to why it isn't getting done and what you are paying for. read more

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!!!!!! Basement flooded May 25th it is now Aug 19th and my basement is far from even being done. They was at my house within an hour to tear everything up but again almost 3 months ago. They subcontract repairs out so they can get away with placing the blame on others. Sorry company by all professional standards. 4 times to tear up, 6 times to do drywall, 2 times for paint all days I had to take off work, all days I lost money and it is not even remotely done. They are really qualified to give you excuses though. I actually would like one of the uppers ranks at this company to have a flooded basement then not be able to use it for months and see how they like it. Bet t it would get fixed within days. Please read my review for more information. I had water damage that resulted in mold damage due to a plumber installing things incorrectly. Anyway, American Water Damage was refereed to me and they did show at my house in 45 minutes which was amazing. Two men came out from AWD to take a look and actually made me feel better about the extent of the work. They kept telling me it wasn't that bad. But water damage and mold is always a big deal. Anyway, they cut out and removed what was damaged. They set up these blowers and cookers that got my bedroom very, very hot. It's very loud too. That's not a complaint just more FYI since if you have damage in a bedroom I can promise you can't sleep with those two factors. Anyway, everything was done late on a Thursday and set up to be picked up on Sunday. They do everything possible to make sure everything gets dried. I was advised that they also spray something on the area to make sure it kills anything from growing etc in the future once everything is dry. However, when a different person from AWD came to pick everything up and I asked about it, he wasn't sure what I was talking about. I was told he would be applying this product, and he tried to tell me that the first guys take care of everything and should have sprayed it. That he didn't have chemicals or anything to spray in his truck. Plus, he said there was no reason to do anything but just use the cookers and blowers. I will say that I'm confused regarding the information on AWD's website on what they guarantee. When I asked about the rebuild process I was advised that they DON'T do that, and I needed to find my own. Since I didn't know anything about this company prior to 45 minutes before they showed up, I took them at their word. But I really could have used getting the work repaired completely. I also NOW know that in the cases of mold the state has specific rules. I'm not sure what rules exactly must be followed or if AWD did everything they were supposed to do, but I have some wood that got wet that doesn't look good. It looks like either the water damage or the drying process did something and more extensive work might need to be done. Lastly, on the contract paperwork the tech's write down what time everything will be picked up. They write down 9-5pm but, verbally tell you a two hour time frame. Since this was a Sunday that was a nice touch. But even though I was told they would pick up between 2-4pm, the tech showed up around noon. He got lucky I was even home. I would ask AWD to be more consistent. I have no idea if my problem is going to be ok. The only thing I do know is that AWD went to the plumber without me asking and got him to pay for the removal of the damage. He won't pay to fix one other thing, nor will his boss, but at least the $450 to do this small amount work was and it's all due to AWD. So, I do thank them very much. They are all very, very nice. Sadly the water clean up was great but the person that was supposed to come to the house for reconstruction never showed and gave stupid reasons why so I was left with a big hole and no functioning bathroom. Then to top it they sent a bill that didn't have my name correct on it. Never will I contact them to do anything on my home or ever recommend this company. It's like a bad scam. Cleanup is great, but once renovation starts, you need to be on top of them all the time to get things done. The person in charge of the project doesn't even come check on the work progress unless you email or call him multiple times. American Water Damage did an excellent job of taking care of water damage which happened on New Years Day. They dried the carpet and removed impacted carpet pad. They are very professional and responsive. We have used their services twice before and experienced the same high level of service. The last time we had water damage (January 2017) they did a great job of repairing a ceiling and carpet pad. Not a service I want to need to use multiple times for completely different water damage items so glad that there is a good one to use. read more
