We broke down outside of town at 1AM. We found the hotel to be very accommodating with allowing a late check out and allowing us to leave things in lobby when we went to pick up our car the next afternoon. Price was great (!) but you get what you pay for. The bathroom needed some serious cleaning as the edges of the tub were mildew/mold stain looking. The bathroom floor corners looked like they weren't cleaned in quite awhile. The tub had a dirt ring. I used a towel to stand on in the shower as the bath mat felt slimy. The sitting chairs were so dirty looking I used a towel to sit on. The sink was cracked, stained, and should be replaced. I did like the pillows. read more

You kinda get what you pay for. I personally didn't book this motel myself. I went through a third party(Priceline) and i got it for a mere $45 a night. It's cool because it's located right next to an am pm, literally 30 seconds walking distance. They have hbo and cable here. The rooms are a little old and sheets look dirty. The reviews about the train crossing every 30 minutes is true, and I am really glad i didn't have any bed bugs. $45 for a cheap stay. I didn't mind it. read more

Reminded me of No Country for Old Men, straight out of that scene when Josh Brolin hides the suitcase in the vent. It's really more of a 3-3.5 star but bonus star for being literally across from a 24 hour 7-11, about 10 feet away. It's a dated hotel with dated furniture. However, there's cable tv surprisingly and did I mention the hot food at 7-11? Neighbors were mostly blue collar/manual workers, probably for the nearby energy farms and space port. Really for $40, you can't expect much except a bed, roof over your head and hopefully, blue collar company (vs the seedier types you might traditionally find at these type of spots). America's Best Value Inn provides all that. There's a train track nearby and when I stayed on a Friday, it came by roughly every hour. About as loud as the neighbor two houses down leaf blower, tolerable. read more

Avoid at all costs - it's a residence for itinerant workers and just plain nasty. We got no sleep. The best part of this motel is that it is across from an incredibly noisy train line that runs 24 hours a day. The soothing sounds of freight trains helped drown out the noise of all the rowdy construction workers that are packed 4 to a room. We were the only travelers staying at this sketchy motel. Aside from all the construction workers, there were a few families living there as well. One room had 6 people in it: 2 adults and 4 children. We seriously didn't sleep, as the room above us (4 construction workers) partied all night (I mean ALL night) and were either wrestling or throwing things. It went on until 4 am. At 6 am a crew of 6 or 8 guys stood in front of the room next to ours talking, joking and laughing at the top of their lungs. It happened again at 7 am for the room on the other side. At 9 am the guys above us started partying again, standing on the walkway drinking beer, flicking cigarettes over the railing and stumbling up and down the stairs. Even if it weren't for the guys above us that sounded like they were doing gymnastic floor exercises or perhaps auditioning for Riverdance, the walls were so thin you could clearly hear the conversation of the room on either side. Let's just say there were things I wish I hadn't heard. The motel itself is dirty. It's threadbare, with stained walls, sticky doors and chipped tile. There was mold in the shower and the carpets were filthy. Towels were stained, the sheets were ancient. Just - ick. read more

I've stayed here a couple times now and it's a nice motel. It's certainly not fancy, so don't expect the Hilton or some fancy place. For $45 a night, you get what you pay for. It's dated-very, very dated, but I don't go to a hotel for the decor. I go because there's something interesting going on in the area. This particular weekend, it was EFBC's Feline Conservation Center's April Twilight Tour, so I came down with a group of friends. The owners of this motel are very friendly and nice (a bit hard to understand) and were very accommodating to our group. Each room has a fridge and a microwave. I think our microwave was maybe the first kind ever made and it hadn't been replaced since the early 80s. That's OK, it still worked. We have always gotten an upstairs room. The walls are thin and I'm guessing the downstairs rooms would be loud with people walking above you. It's a pretty loud place, because of the constant desert wind but mostly the trains across the street. There are very loud freight trains traveling through at every hour of the day and night. Bring earplugs! I have a white noise machine that I travel with so that blocks out all noise. Anyway, we had a good time out in the desert. We'll be staying here again. read more

We arrived and checked in. We are two Belgian men, officially married and 'good people'. The manager wanted to give is an upgrade. No 2 men in one bed. You need upgrade. Three dollars. He finally gave it for free. Then he was happy. Went to the room and closed the curtains. Never coming back here even of its the last place on earth. This hotel seemed clean and the room seemed recently renovated. However, my brief time there was extremely disappointing. It's Olympics time, so I wanted a hotel where I could watch them. I couldn't find them on the tv, so I asked at the desk. "We don't subscribe to local channels," the manager said. What?!? I looked at the other NBC channels, but none were showing the Olympics. This was a deal breaker, so we went to a different hotel. When I asked the hotel to refund our money, the manager said "we didn't advertise local channels." Okay - they didn't advertise flush toilets either, but I would have left if they didn't have those. I would never stay at this hotel given the total lack of consideration of the manager. read more

IT was cheap if you like to see mold on the ceiling in the bathroom. The spa had a gang of dirt in it if you didn't mind a dirt bath.

Not so great. Really need renovation. The shower was scary and did not work well. The soap was so small I thought I was getting some mints. None of the soap and shampoo dispensers worked. Absolutely terrible. I've never been treated this way at a hotel, or in any customer service situation. When we arrived, the front desk gave us two keys to choose between two SMOKING rooms, even though we reserved a non-smoking one. Both rooms smelled awful and we refused. Then we were showed a room that had no number on the door, was about half the size of the other two rooms, and was sweltering hot. After two hours the room felt no cooler, the TV began to malfunction, and the fridge didn't work. I went to the front desk to complain and request a different room. First he said there were no other rooms, then he said he couldn't give us a refund because we were in the room for too long. I asked to talk to the manager and he gave me more run-around. After 10 minutes of this, eventually he offered to move our room to one with a double bed, but only if we paid a $10 fee; unacceptable. Then a $10 deposit; still unacceptable. Then he said he would charge us $10 at checkout if we used the second bed. WTF?! I am currently working with ABVI head office to resolve this, but didn't want anyone else to go through this experience. Do yourself a favor and spend $5 more to go to one of the other cheap motels. You couldn't pay me to stay here again... read more

Pulled into the America's Best Value Inn parking lot here, having see the sign for an inexpensive rate. Also, I have the Value Club card, which helps greatly. Today, however, there was no cost, in monetary terms, only aggravation. I knocked on the door locked door - this was in the very early afternoon - and rang the bell. Finally a woman answered and stood there staring at me. I said I would like a room for the night and she backed up, hesitantly and allowed me to come to the front desk. I stated the usual: One person, Single, Non-Smoking, One Night... please. Upon my finishing my spiel, which takes all of about 5 seconds or less, she blurted out something unintelligible. At least it sounded that way in English. I repeated myself, with a smile, and asked if there WiFi in the rooms. To this, she responded, "No Refrigerator!" Because they sound so similar, WiFi and refrigerator. I asked this same question twice more, and received the same answer. Okay, time to move on. I asked if a handicap room were available, or at least one downstairs. Came the answer, "How many?" My Hindi being rusty - I think it was Hindi, could have been Martian, I still did not comprehend it - Finally, I noticed she was staring at my head, the top of my head. Where sits a Jewish skullcap, a kipa, or yarmulke. She said, something about, "No, no!", shaking her hand at me. (A few years back, a state trooper in the Midwest asked me, "Are you Muslim?") Whatever the case here, I got the distinct impression she, too, had no idea what she was yelling about. And so, I departed. For Motel 6 and Native English speakers. So, then, a key question: Why would management put a non-English speaking person with limited knowledge of... everything at the front desk, to ostensibly "greet" guests? Why? This is not the Podunk Inn. America's Best Value Inn is a national concern. Oh, yeah, about the national part. I was unhappy, obviously, and so I phoned the toll-free customer service to complain. Well, it seems that one must complain using America's Best Value Inn's own proprietary forms, online. They are much too busy to engage customers, i.e., guests, by phone. At Motel 6, I did just that. What I received from Sandra Olsson, the Director of Guest Relations, was the usual pabulum of a form letter and then the usual corporate garbage about the properties being individually and such. The emails from Vijay Vora, the... owner (?) of the Mojave property, are just short of incoherent. To paraphrase the late, immortal Casey Stengel: "Does ANYONE speak the language anymore?!" It is my opinion, to which I am entitled, that both Olsson and Vora are in the wrong business. I am thinking more in line with... the Circus? After all, much of that is fantasy-based as well. And it also stinks of you know what. My opinion, again: Avoid the Mojave America's Best Value Inn. And do not think for a minute that this company cares about the customer's needs. This was just a terrible place to stay. I should have more carefully read the reviews - they are the same on all the sites that advertise this place. The people who own and run the motel are incredibly rude and will yell at guests at the drop of a hat. I watched the owner (or his wife? I'm not sure who owns it) yell at another customer for accidentally demagnetizing his key, and she yelled at my party (we were there for a funeral) for complaining about the mold and the funky smell. She referred to us as "You people," so I can only imagine (or I could read the reviews) how horribly she would have treated us if we hadn't been a white military family. The walls are paper thin, the furniture is falling apart, it's not clean, and the people are awful. I would never recommend this place to anyone. I think those folks that had a good stay here are certainly in the minority. read more
