It was also pretty large which was great for a change! There was a king bed, nice toiletries and a Nepresso machine. All in all our room was great and the hotel overall is beautiful. It doesn't get 5 stars though because at $327 a night you don't get a lot of extras. No breakfast although there is a restaurant. We had to pay extra for parking - so that added another $45 a night for self park, more for the valet. There is a small indoor pool which I don't want to use in the middle of summer - give me an outdoor option! And the location wasn't the greatest for walking around. We asked the clerk how to get down to the river to walk around and he advised against it, telling us it wasn't safe!! I guess homeless people sleep on the riverwalk and hassle people when they walk by. We did go down there, 2 males and I, but did stop short of what looked like a homeless enclave.

Sitting right on the river, the views were exquisite. The neighborhood was cute. Several bars and restaurants were all within walking distance. The staff from outside in could not have been more welcoming and professional. The valet guys were so friendly and sweet. Inside, the young lady at the desk was all smiles. We felt welcome and appreciated. The lobby, hallways and other public spaces were modern and clean. The feel was stylish, yet classic and well maintained. Our connecting rooms felt sooo good! They were luxurious yet comfortable. My friend loved the huge tub in her room and promptly took a bubble bath. I took a nap in my comfy bed that was so inviting. Rested, we were off to explore Grand Rapids for a bit. We checked out early the next morning to go visit the Frederic Meier Botanical Garden before heading back to Chicago. We loved our brief experience at the lovely JW Marriott Grand Rapids and will definitely return.

I loved all of them. Their personalities can start your day off on a positive note and if you had a bad day, their warm welcome in the evening is a reminder there are good people that make the world a brigher place. Food options - they had nice options for onsite dining. I was able to enjoy a dinner at Knoop on the 8th floor. It was a happening place. The food - excellent! The rooftop deck - lovely. Staff - friendly and they hustled. The room - it was ok. I like the simplicity. There wasn't a dresser with drawers. There was a side table that had drawers. It appears I might have been in a room that was designed to be handicap accessible. Which is great to see they offer accommodations for everyone. The challenge I had was the shower bench that folds down from the wall made the stall more narrow. I love that they provide magnification mirrors for primping...however for this room it was mounted low - just above the counter sink. I wasn't able to use it. The complimentary handsoap - was not appealing. I used it without thinking twice because I have never experience "offensive" smelling hotel products...flowery yes, but never offensive. This had "charcoal" in the name and it seemed appropriate because it smelled like something was burning...yuck. I didn't enjoy it at all. Thankfully I bring my own toiletries. I didn't use theirs. Parking - Love the valet service - not cheap but worth it if you are there for a work trip and work is paying. They also have a garage you can park in behind the building. Surrounding area - there several great restaurants within walking distance. If I return to the area, I will definitely try to stay here again.

The breakfast though needs help. Juices and water containers were empty. I asked the person that was stocking the pre made omelets about the juice & water, not her job, the buffet staff wasn't in yet. Sausage was over cooked. Buffet over all was sub par and manager as well. She pointed me to the water fountain to get water. Paying what we did for the room, a bottle of water wouldn't have been a bad move on her part. She simply didn't care. You pay to park 18.00 a day. Our king sized room was very nice, probably could use a new mattress. You have to turn on shower water to hot and let it run for about 10 minutes before you get any type of hot water. Not sure we would stay here again if we had a choice.

First off, a big shout-out to "Brett" at the front desk - I'd called ahead for a late arrival - and he very efficiently checked me in with an entire lobby filled with youth baseball players and their parents! My room was so immaculate - I had flashbacks to my early teens - back to when my dear Mother would spotlessly clean my bedroom. My accommodations at The Hampton were extremely spacious (much bigger than my room growing-up, that's for sure) and the walk-in shower was huge! The complimentary breakfast the next morning was ample and delicious - a great start to my next 100 miles of driving. I'd definitely stay here again - in fact, I look forward to it! #socialmediapromo #socialmediainfluencer #HamptonInnAndSuitesGrandRapidsMI #HiltonHotels #GrandRapIdsMI #hotels #hotel #travel #hospitality #hotellife #hotelroom #besthotels #hoteliers #instatravel #traveling #beautifulhotels #relax #like #hotelstyle #lifestyle #hotelsandresorts #travelphotography #marketing #travels #hotellife  #cleanhotel #hotelstory #TravelingMan #Michigan

One downside was that the air conditioner was extremely loud, making it difficult to get a good night's sleep. I also discovered that while my room door locked, the deadbolt wasn't functioning, which was a safety concern. The hotel restaurant was okay, but I was disappointed that they weren't offering happy hour despite having signs advertising it. On the plus side, there are several bars and restaurants within walking distance, which made it easy to explore the area. We even stumbled upon a nearby concert while out walking, and it ended up being one of the highlights of our trip. Overall, it was a decent stay with a few issues that, if addressed, would make the experience much better.

This is such a lovely hotel!…read more The only downside is that it was extremely busy, but we did come on a nice spring weekend in March to a busy area. There was a scrapbooking convention and a few sports teams, but I found that the accommodations were pretty quiet on the sixth floor. The host was able to change our room to a room that had not had a dog in it for over a month due to severe allergies (anaphylactic). The kickback meals were huge and delicious, and they had allergy friendly options for both of breakfast and the dinner for my big Allergy baby. There was a small fridge in the room that worked so well it froze a lot of our supplemental food we brought for those of us with allergies. The room was clean. We had laundry on our floor, which was incredibly helpful when my baby product exposed to an allergen. The front desk was able to take the cache I had and give me quarters for the machines. They had speed queen machines, which were efficient, but they definitely could've used a little bit of a cleaning. I didn't expect a lot since it was a hotel, laundry room but I was pleasantly surprised. If you don't have any allergies staying at a brewery, can save you so much money with all of the food choices. This is one of the best ones I've ever seen, and all of the staff was kind helpful, and communicated very well. Unfortunately, we didn't do the pool much just because of how packed and insane it was... the weight room could've definitely used a little spruce up. There were only three treadmills a recumbent bike and dumbbells up to 35 pounds. I was still able to get an OK workout in with the dumbbells, but a mat and inflating the ball would really go a long way. This hotel is an excellent area close to a target/Starbucks a Meijer 5 to 10 minutes from Cascades Park, which was perfect for my kids to get a little energy out after our travel day.
