Not what I expect for a centrally located at $300+ per night downtown Grand Rapids hotel. Despite information you may see on the website there is no room service, no valet parking, and the linens/bedding are no where near what I expect from a luxury hotel. Many things need to be updated in this hotel; Newer smart TVs (only offers Netflix, Pandora and YouTube for streaming, remotes are cheap impossible to use, needs USB ports, and, toilet paper is cheap and thin, better linens needed, and better upkeep of in-room refrigerators (defrost the iceberg occasionally) so the fridge cools like it's suppose to. Some great perks; the restaurant, otherwise known as the "Bistro" has amazing staff and great food. Limited menu makes it always hot, fresh and enjoyable and then there's a staff nothing can be beat with crew. Deja is their hidden gem. This young lady deserves a promotion and possibly a different position/career path or position where her sparkling attitude, professionalism and strengths can be utilized to make any business shine! The pool is gorgeous and clean. Ensure to contact the hotel directly to ensure amenities are open & functional. As Bonvoy website, app, & other sites may not be updated appropriately The Marriott Courtyard lobby is clean and inviting. The front desk "seems" to attempt their best to accommodate and provide excellent service. I did over hear the front desk young lady call me "crazy". But, I'm okay with that - after all, who isn't? We stayed in the executive king suite on the 7th floor, was spacious & clean. Gorgeous view to the west. Housekeeping did an excellent job - going above & beyond our requests of extra linens, pillows, blankets & setting up our roll-away I can not emphasize enough to confirm with phone calls to the front desk because the Bonvoy website/app is not always accurate of what amenities, parking, promotions, and packages actually include. All can be quite confusing to someone who has not visited this hotel. Previously been in the industry for 20+ years. I see this as an opportunity for them to nickel and dime you to death. The Bonvoy website & app allows you to select 2 adults & 2 children (17 & under) for a room - yet, selecting the breakfast "package" only includes 2 adults & 2 kids (12 & under) .... My number one choice will always be the JW Marriot for a downtown GR hotel! Location is great, price is the same, the service is always above and beyond, and you never have to doubt the quality of the linens lol @Kylene G - it's spelled Melisa , not Melissa ** also, watch pending vs actual charges for your final cost - upon checkin there was a $45 per night (odd amount) deposit required .... And takes forever to be released IF it ever does

We stayed here after a holiday party that was at the Courtyard Marriott. I have the Bonvoy app and checking in was a breeze and I love the keyless key - where your phone is the key. The room was on the 4th floor overlooking the parking ramp with a half view of the river. Since we are from GR, this didn't bother me, especially because we were not in the room except to sleep. Room is smaller than a normal hotel room but sufficient and nice, it was updated but still shows remnants of the old decor/ style. The bathroom is small, outdated and the shower is not well planned, you have to step into the shower to turn it on and you get blasted with cold water before you can move - multiple people said this that stayed there. However, the room and bathroom were clean and the bed was comfortable. We had no complaints for noise or the heat. Getting to our room was almost like going through a maze. The elevator was on the other side of the hotel from our room and we had to walk quite a ways to get there. Lobby is clean and bright, hotel has a bar / restaurant, parking on premise or next door, and close to everything downtown. I would recommend people to stay here, better price point than some of the more ritzy hotels.

Boy is this place a let down and does not meet the standards I'm used to for a Marriott courtyard. The bathtub has paint peeling from it and there is mold around the caulking around the tub. The room is old and is in need of an update. We wish we had booked a different Marriott. We don't recommend this particular Marriott. Spend your money elsewhere.

The good the bad and the ugly . When my wife and I travel we try to find a Marriott . We are Bonvoy members and enjoy the benefits. I came here for a work conference and was hoping for a true Marriott experience. First there is a charge for parking. I was not aware that this was an additional charge of $24 per day. I was able to stay parked until the conference was over without being charged for a third day. The rooms are desperately needing updating . There was no lights in the ceiling and no vent in the bathroom for the shower. Although my room had a small fridge it was difficult to work and when I thought I finally figured it out, it leaked. I was there two days and the staff did not give me fresh towels or make the bed for day 2. Also they did not give out more coffee for the Room coffee maker . The pillows were all soft. There were no pillows with any firmness. The pool was clean, the hot tub was nice. The workout room was small. The towels were very small and very well worn . This hotel is well located and there is plenty of choices nearby for food or entertainment. The price was decent considering the large city and the time of year. Not saying I won't be back it was just far from what I was expecting of a Marriott.

No complaints from my one night stay here at the Courtyard! The location is top notch (with plenty of Grand Rapids eateries, breweries, museums, shopping and more within walking distance) and in general it's clean and convenient. I stayed in a double room and the beds were comfy, the room tidy. The room itself and the decor was not tremendously noteworthy but it was spacious and had a huge bathroom which ruled. Not a ton by way of amenities in the room (complimentary water bottle, bath robe, etc) but for one night it was fine. I ended up ordering room service later in the evening as I got peckish and my burger was pretty good and the fries nice and crispy. AND it showed up at my door in just 15 minutes as promised. The price point was also definitely good for room service. Not bad! I also made my way to the hot tub/pool for a bit and it was in good condition. I was the only one in their about an hour before they closed for the night so I got to relax all on my own. I just wish the hot tub was a bit more jet filled/powerful (my back was killing me so a nice jet positioned closer to my shoulders would have ruled) but that's very nit picky. There's also a small gym attached with a few exercise bikes and such should the mood to work on your fitness strike. They were repainting the ladies' locker room when I was there so I couldn't really get a good feel for it but I think there is also a sauna in there which I would take advantage of next time should it remain post renovations. Staff was also very friendly Admittedly I've been a little spoiled by staying at its big brother the JW Marriott just next door in the past but that swanky spot is definitely a higher price point which isn't always feasible. Especially if you're only in for one night. For location and affordability the Courtyard is a fine option.

I love the Courtyard in Grand Rapids. I stayed here many nights earlier in life and you cannot beat the location. I am glad to see the place is even better than I remember it. It located is right downtown Grand Rapids and easy walking distance to anything the city has to offer. There is easy access to the Riverwalk and it is right near the concert venue. Parking is available from the valet or in the self serve lot (you need to drive around the corner to the underground lot). The hotel was renovated in the past 5 years or so and has a nice feel to it. The lobby is usually buzzing with guests and the bar/restaurant is located just inside. You can grab Starbucks, breakfast or other grab and go items here in the morning. They have a full bar and menu of food that looks pretty good too. The staff is all great from front desk to housekeeping and service crew. The rooms are decent for a Courtyard. I enjoy the views from the taller floors, but the highest floors are the condos so you can only go up to 16 or so. The linens are in decent shape and the technology is up to date. I usually have a good night sleep here and don't hear other guests. The only downside is I rarely get upgraded here as a Platinum. There has to be some suites or something available one of the times I came! I highly recommend staying here if you come to Grand Rapids and are looking for a great hotel.

Stayed one night here this past week. I usually find that Courtyard properties - provide for the most part - a consistently clean and pleasant hotel stay. And while this Courtyard was clean and comfortable, and the staff were friendly and accommodating - my stay was less than restful. My room was on the 7th floor - facing the street. Across the street from the Courtyard is some sort of Bar which I believe is called "The Bob." There was a constant stream of loud, obnoxious people coming out of this Four Story Bar - complete with bouts of yelling, shrieking, and general mayhem - from about 11:00 pm - 2:30 am in the morning. This made it all but impossible to fall asleep. Combine that - with the fact that my room was close to the elevator lobby in the hotel, every time someone got on the damn elevators, I could hear the elevator winding away. I think I might have managed to get three hours sleep that night. I found out afterward that allegedly, the noise was from legions of college kids off from Spring Break as of that day, celebrating their temporary freedom. Ugh - had I known, I would have stayed elsewhere. Pros: - Clean rooms - Flat panel HD TVs - Comfortable, firm beds and firm pillows (not that it mattered much as sleep was hard to come by!) - Free internet access Cons - The Bob - Elevator noise

This Marriott had a nice lobby and even a big touchscreen TV in the lobby to check weather, scores, and even restaurants nearby. I was here on a business trip so I got used to seeing the lobby. The staff here were friendly as far as I could tell. There was a Starbucks in The Bistro downstairs. Unfortunately, this Marriott didn't have complementary breakfast which was fine with me but would have been nice. The room I stayed in was on the sixth floor. It was spacious and definitely suited my needs. There was even a place on the war near the TV where you could connect your laptop of you had the right cables. I couldn't try to see if it was connected with the TV but I would assume so. The room also had a small couch, too. There was also free wifi in the room, lobby, and The Bistro. Pretty good Marriott in my opinion. I'd recommend it.

For drinks, I had the Dragon's Milk S'mores on tap and the S'moregasm cocktail. For such similar drinks they were wildly different. At 11% ABV the beer was quite strong and I really didn't taste the "s'more" flavor. Meanwhile, the cocktail was super sweet as expected. New Holland has a solid line of beers so you can't really go wrong, but I don't think the S'more flavors worked on tap. Everybody debates whether pineapple should be on pizza but how about mustard?! So I had to try the seasonal Chicken Cordon Bleu pizza and it was delicious! It had cut up fried chicken, ham, and different types of cheese along with scallions and of course mustard. Somehow, they made this work! Service was also great despite the crowds but my only real negative was that they sneak a credit card charge onto the bill and hide the notice at the bottom of the menu. That doesn't fee transparent when businesses do that but otherwise, we enjoyed our time at The Knickerbocker.

Bun was generic. My real issue was the veggie on it. My lettuce had brown/black tips. My tomato was soggy. The pickles had no crunch to it, they were tough to bite through. Fries that came with the burger were also not my favorite. Thickness between wedge fried and steak fries, rough chopped every piece was different size so how could you cook them all consistently. No crisp to the fries, fairly greasy too. I wont be back.

The two white, male bartenders assigned to her event were not friendly to the guests, creating an off-putting atmosphere right from the start. This behavior is utterly unacceptable, disgusting and was clearly racially motivated. Given that their wedding was attended primarily by Black and Brown guests we knew exactly why they said it! Absolutely a racist trope that we don't tip or tip well. Multiple guests complained to the bride, groom and/or someone in wedding party about this. It is deeply troubling that a venue they entrusted with such a special occasion would employ individuals who clearly harbor racial bias. All I will say is that minority couples need to be aware. No one should have to worry or deal with this bs on their special day nor should their guests.
