There are several options for rooms including ones with balconies. The views were amazing and we enjoyed being able to walk down by the water. There is even a "Perry House" that you can rent. I'm sure that is not cheap but looked really great. They did everything right with this hotel. We were treated like royalty and really enjoyed our stay. I would absolutely come back!! We weren't here long enough!! Petoskey is definitely gorgeous and I absolutely will be visiting again this summer. Just a note, there is no refrigerator or microwave in the rooms and the hotel is relatively noisy. It's old so the floors creak. If there is a wedding going on (which there was) the music can be heard on all floors. There were noise machines in the room to help with this but if you're sensitive to that you may want to stay elsewhere. It was so worth it because the experience can't be duplicated!

The Inn at Bay Harbor has been a Marriott property for 22 years. As of 11/1, it will be a Boyne Resort. I don't think the change of ownership will impact the charm. If anything, it will improve things by being a Michigan based company. Love that this hotel has so many room variations - typical rooms to cottages. Outside of the Inn, there are home rentals through Bay Harbor's website too. This hotel is open year round and there is so much to do. Love high tea! Makes me feel like a princess while adulting. My husband and I plan to come up again this summer. Such a special place! The lot was poorly plowed with that limo parked at the corner turn making it an obstacle to drive around. If I didn't have awd I would have been stuck the morning of checkout. The entrance to the building was not safe, the snow shoveling was half massed with a floor blower set to the side of the entry which was too low of a power to dry the inside entryway making the front desk area a slippery mess. The room had a sauna like shower with the heads calcified and floor tile in need of some cleaning. The front shower curtain had a blood or rust droplet on it. Dead cockroach on the ground. There was white crusty marks on both sides of the ottoman cushion and chair along with some froot loops residue. When brought up to the front desk was told that they couldn't refund us for our stay even though that's not even why we told them in the first place, no apologies. It was hard to hear the TV or sleep with how loud the system was. The walk-in shower and shampoo products were nice. The staff was lovely. Came back after speaking to the manager and told me I couldn't do that. Which is frustrating as the room wasn't ready and it's not like I'm way early for the check in I was there when I was told to be and got the room wasn't available. It's not the level of service I traditionally get when I come to a Marriott hotel. Went up the street to a Hampton hotel checked in with a breeze and as this lady said, people are canceling because of the smoke, so not a problem to get me in. Crazy .5 miles a different brand and an insanely different experience.

It's tough to attract and retain great seasonal staff in the area (a real challenge for many spots up here), but at this point the execution falls short of what the property deserves. She assigned me a room and had me park far away from an entrance, and I had to walk the entire length of the hotel. When I called and asked for an accommodation to leave the next day, i.e. a wheelchair assist, I was told it couldn't happen for another half hour to 45 minutes. You couldn't open the balcony sliding door because it was broken. There was a stain on the carpet, ( looked like blood) And the room was stuffy and couldn't be properly regulated for heat or cool. What a dump not worth it at any price. I couldn't wait to get out of there.

The outdoor trees are beautifully decorated and it makes you feel like you're in a hallmark movie. As we drove up, and parked we were met by an employee who knew our names and took our bags to our room. Felt like I was in Dubai getting VIP status service again. Our check-in was swift, and we were given a tour of the downstairs which had an amazing bar with a roaring fire, and free snacks and waters. It also had a small gym, and a game room containing a billiards table. Once we finally got to the room we were so shocked. The room was massive and absolutely breath taking. The bed was extremely comfortable, and the sheets were super soft. The highlight was the outdoor patio. We got a room on the first floor. The patio came enclosed with heaters so that you can go out and look out at the lake and not freeze. During Christmas they put a Christmas tree on each patio. Very romantic and festive. Service is, by far, the number one thing about this place. The hotels beauty is obvious, but it only goes so far if the service isn't there. We loved every minute of our stay. The bartender in the evening was the best. We sat there for hours and just chatted. He was very personable, and fun to talk to. We also wanted to use the jacuzzi, so the front desk employee went, and opened it up for us even though it was freezing outside. They also let us stay 20 minutes past the hours of operation without question. There were many more things we didn't do like snow shoeing on the lake, but they offer many things for kids, families, or outdoor enthusiasts. Overall, this was probably one of the best vacations we have had. From the service to Amenities they checked every box. If you are looking for romance, or even a family get away then this place is a must. We also took advantage of the wineries in the area. They are still open in the winter. I wish I would of snapped more photos for all to see, but I was wanted to live in the moment and not technology. This place has won many awards as a top wine hotel in the country. Just make sure you call way in advance for reservations. They book up extremely early. We booked a year in advance.
