I stayed at the AmericInn for a long weekend of hiking in the state parks near the Dells. The hotel seemed mostly clean but it's definitely dated. Over 3 nights, the staff never came in to clean the room or take out the trash. I know COVID-19 is still a problem but the signs in the room say the room will be cleaned every other night if you're staying multiple nights. The fact they didn't even give us an option to deal with the trash was just frustrating. But I wonder if they actually clean anything because I saw dust hanging from doorways that never was cleaned over the 4 days, 3 nights. I also was highly disappointed to find out this hotel accepts pets. There was a dog running above my head most of the night for 2 nights. If you're going to be pet friendly, you need to have thicker floors or place the pets on the ground floor. And the walls are incredibly thin. You can hear conversations and babies crying quite clearly. They were serving a breakfast buffet but they weren't good at keeping an eye on the hot foods and they would quickly run out. Overall, I definitely don't recommend staying here. It looks nice on the outside but on the inside it's just not great. I've stayed at other Wyndham properties in this budget category and this one is not a good one. read more

This hotel is super dirty and misleading! The "breakfast" is crappie not many options. They lie about the water park passes you only get 3 free ones n then you have to pay extra for the rest. No matter how many registered people are in your room! The pools look disgusting enter at your own risk. My room had a nasty mildew smell the bed sheets where dirty . Started off great. Read through the website and said they had a kiddie pool, heated swim pool, and hot tub, free breakfast and alongside being able to pay to go to Chula Vista (so no internal resort fee to stay at AmericInn, WI but a $21 resort fee for the nights you go to Chula Vista. If you do not go, then no extra fee after booking). We went because we entered on the search 2 adult and 2 kids, heated pool and breakfast. When we arrived, the main manager said we are forced to pay for 2 additional guests and if we wanted the Chula Vista water park access, we had to pay a resort fee for ALL the nights we were staying even though we only were only able to go for 1 night. We had tired kids and packed car, so we paid. I texted "Penny" from Priceline and she said "our confirmation was for 2 adults and 2 kids. To get an itemized receipt when we left and we can take it up with our credit card after we check out." We did not want to ruin the trip, so we paid and moved on. Room was not great, but okay, I guess fine for a 2-star hotel. Sheets were wrinkled and had a yellow stain on them - always creepy when wrinkled sheets - makes you think they did not change them. I always bring our own stuff and made things work and asked for fresh sheets. A pain but I was ready for this. Kids super excited for the pool, as was I, due to the hot tub and HEATED POOL which is stated ALL OVER THEIR WEBSITE! Their website really emphasis a heated pool. Hot tub was a bit gross - chunks of hair but by the filter, so it was trying to clean itself, and the main pool was ICE COLD. Not even a bit warm but ice cold. Next day, get up for the HOT breakfast and arrive at 9:15am and everything is almost put away! What is going on? 3 pieces of over cooked ham left and some scrambled eggs. I at least jumped to grab some of the "fresh juice" and started to make waffles for the kids even though they were trying to put things away. As they see about 8 Guests show up after us, you would think they would stop cleaning frantically around us and just let us enjoy eating what is left but they did not. I heard the main manager say nothing is left, breakfast is closed and gave us look when we were making waffles, but we paid for "free breakfast" in our hotel stay, we are going to have breakfast! Otherwise I would have packed and been prepared. Also, a cheap trick thing is the small 8 oz cups to make your coffee. They cups were so small that the holders that they had for cups and lids was messy because the cups were too small for the clearly 12-16 oz cup holders they had. So every time we wanted a coffee we would have to make at least 2 to suffice the coffee need when you are starving and dealing with a cold pool lol Second morning we went about 5 minutes earlier - and this time 9:10AM everything is completely put away! can't even make the waffles, juice was gone, NOTHING to eat. Stop advertising on your corporate website that you have all these great amenities that you do not actually have. Best part, we go to check out and ask for the itemized receipt. He unhappily gives it to me and immediately grabs a "call" as I sit and go through the receipt, takes pictures and wait for him to get off the call. The receipt he gave me did not have the charge for the "extra guests" and looked more like the Priceline itemized receipt (which showed 1 resort fee of $21, the 2-night stay price, and the taxes and fees). Finally, manager gets off phone and I ask, I need the itemized receipt that showed him charging me for 2 extra guests and Chula Vista fees for the water park. He GRABS the paper from me crumbles it up (even though I took a picture of it) and says oops sorry that was what Priceline charged, let me get you the right receipt. This one shows the $64 for the 2 extra Guests (KIDS mind you, 7 and 3), and two charges of $21 resort fee and taxes. So, all in all if I did not check I would have been charged 3 times for a resort fee (we only stayed 2 nights and used the water park once)?! EVERYONE GET YOUR ITEMIZED RECEIPTS and call your vendor to ensure you are not being overcharged. Is this AmericInn or Priceline/Booking/Hotels.com --- Look into this! We did call and I sent in pictures of both receipts, and I did get a refund. But AmericInn you should refund everyone for the LIES of not having a free Breakfast if you close it before end time and for NOT having a heated Pool. Please do better and stop the false advertising. Travis Wilson is the manager at this hotel who denied a refund after cancelling over 72 hours in advance after employees already canceled my reservation. I booked a 2 night stay 3 days in advance and attempted to cancel within hours due to a family emergency. Staff was very helpful to process cancellation and even booking.com was helpful to confirm they were just waiting on Travis's approval for the refund. After speaking with Travis he first offered only a partial refund. As soon as I mentioned that's not what his staff said, he decided no refund would be granted and hung up on me. This is the worst choice for a manager for any business. Horrible management and shady business practices. Shame on this place for hiring Travis. He should learn from his employees about customer service read more

The Wyndham Website as well as Expedia state free breakfast included with the stay at this hotel. 15 months into the pandemic and with it coming to a close this location deems a bottle of water and a Nutri-Grain bar an appropriate breakfast. Tried to discuss this with the front desk staff person. All I got was a bunch of excuses from her and two other staff people that chimed in that amount "breakfast is never included with the stay and never has been." Well guess what - I'll never stay here again to find out whether that's true! I offered several suggestions for ways that a breakfast could be provided but staff stated no manager was on site to discuss that with. Do not stay here unless you want to pay $200 for just the bed. The staff here is incredibly combative. Nothing about the check-in process was easy. The manager (Travis W.) is arguing with us about the check-in process and the request we made at booking. The manager made a threat to refuse to check us in because he had been "dealing with Karen's all day" and his fellow front desk team member called a member of our party a Karen to her face. I think it is incredibly ridiculous that someone could have had a bad day and take it out on one specific group of people because he had "had enough." It is completely understandable that not every single booking request can be accommodated, we were just looking for some consistency across what was being said because multiple employees told us numerous different things. This was a terrible start to what was supposed to be a great couple days of vacation. Based on this experience alone, I would never want to stay in an AmericInn again! read more

We will never book at AmericInn by Wyndham in Wisconsin Dells again after the terrible experience we had when trying to check-in with our cat. This hotel claims to be pet-friendly, which is why we chose it for our vacation and drove 5 hours from Minnesota with our kids and cat. Upon arriving at 2pm hoping for early check-in, we were told check-in wasn't until 4pm unless we pay extra! When we returned at 4pm, we were shocked to be charged a $33/night pet fee for our cat and told the hotel does NOT accept cats - only dogs! The rude front desk staff refused to accommodate us in any way, even though we clearly booked this hotel under the impression cats were allowed. We asked for a manager, but were told the manager wasn't there. No one was willing to make an exception or assist us as we scrambled to find another hotel that would accept our cat. After wasting hours of our vacation, we had to book a less ideal hotel just so we had somewhere to stay with our family pet. This was an unacceptable experience. AmericInn falsely advertises as pet-friendly when they actually turn away families with cats. We did not even get to stay at AmericInn because of their misleading pet policy and lack of accommodations for cat owners. I hope this review saves other cat owners from driving hours to this hotel only to end up stranded due to false advertising. We will never risk staying at AmericInn or Wyndham again. read more

Imagine for a moment that you're planning a vacation with your family to go to Wisconsin Dells. If you're anything like our family, you save up so that you can take a couple of vacations a year. Our daughter - who is a toddler, developed a horrific ear infection, ONE day after swimming in the pool. We ended up having to take her to urgent care on the 4th of July because she was crying all night in pain. I booked our room at the Wyndham Dells a about 3 weeks before the 4th of July through Expedia. I reserved a 2 queen room and paid about $750.00. So, right after booking the room, I called the front desk and requested that our family get a room with a balcony. Now mind you, I made this request two weeks before our arrival. The receptionist at the front desk pulled up my reservation and said okay. You're all set for 4th of July weekend. You're getting the balcony room. So, after driving 4 hours from Chicago with a 4 year old we arrived at the hotel on July 2nd. Upon check in, I'm greeted by a receptionist with a mouth full of food. She's obviously eating lunch and trying to do her job at the same time. I explain to her we reserved a room with a balcony. The girl then tells me that they have no rooms available with balconies and that our family will be in the standard room with two beds. When I complained, I was straight out told by the receptionist and manager that I shouldn't have went through Expedia to book the room. So basically, I was shamed for using Expedia. I want to also mention that the receptionist totally forgot to give us the free passes to the Chula Vista water park. It's like sorry I inconvenienced you Wyndham. She then hands me 2 plastic bags and tells me that there will be no house cleaning due to covid. I'm thinking, is this some kind of joke? Like no room cleaning? Why the hell wasn't that told to me when I booked the room. If you have a family, you can appreciate just how quickly a small hotel room (box) can become dirty. So, our family sucks it up and tries to be positive about the situation. The next day we wake up and go down to the so called "breakfast". And do you know what the breakfast consists of? Well here it is: Cereal, toast, muffins and milk. Oh, and if you want coffee, you have to go to the front desk and literally ask the guest agent to make you a cup. So yea, that was a let down. Here's the real kicker. They stuck us on a floor with all dogs. I have nothing against dogs, but it wasn't my first choice. The dogs were loud, and continually barked every night of our trip. To make matters worse, one of the larger dogs snapped at my toddler when she was walking down the hallway. It was totally horrific. Luckly, they removed the dog from the hotel. But what if she would have mauled my kid? Here's the bottom line message to Wyndham. Don't advertise that you offer free breakfast when you actually don't offer much of anything at all. Don't take people's hard earned money and give them nothing back in return. Since we are 15 months into the Covid crisis, there is simply no reason your staff couldn't have been vaccinated and cleaned the room. Also, don't tell people that they are reserved for a certain type of room and then completely deny you said it in the first place. It's just bad business. It's like you want all of the money you can get from guests, but offer non of the services you advertise. It was the worst trip we have ever taken to Wisconsin Dells, and we will NEVER step foot into one of your properties again. Exceptional in regards to price! A lodge-style hotel with log-style accessories and furniture. Although, we were not here to go to any waterpark (just passing through) the hotel seems to cater to people doing so. This is a pet friendly hotel and at the moment, there is a large field in front of the property. Bed was comfy enough. Read to the end! This hotel was one of the stay-and-play hotel options for my son's baseball tournament in the Dells. The tournament was in July 2021 and we booked it way back in December 2020. I didn't think the nightly price of $136 was too bad, especially since it included waterpark passes to Chula Vista. The check-in was at 4 and we arrived at 4:30. There was only one person working the front desk at that time which was very frustrating. Thankfully another showed up when I was finally second in line. They did not offer and room cleaning services and we had to bring dirty towels to the front desk to get them exchanged for clean ones. One of my biggest complaints (my top complaint is coming up next) was the coffee/breakfast situation. You had to ask the front desk to get your coffee for you! If there was a line at the desk you were screwed! They even had the cream and sugar behind the counter and insisted on putting it in the coffee for you! How on Earth does this make any sense. They won't let you get your own coffee but they had an open gallon of milk on the "breakfast" counter that anyone could pour themselves. That is WAY less sanitary than pressing a lever to dispense coffee on a sealed coffee pot! Do NOT mess with my coffee! The breakfast was bread/toast, prepackaged muffins, and cold cereal. Lame. As for my last and biggest complaint, the hotel was DIRTY. We found other guest's garbage behind the night stand, behind the dresser (which we moved to plug in my son's Xbox), and a crusty M&M stuck to the cabinet that held the fridge. Our organization had two teams staying at this hotel. Out of at least 23 families who stayed there, from our organization, 3 found bed bugs in their rooms! Once I heard that one of the other team's families found bugs, I felt it was the right thing to do to have all of our team check as well. Better to be prepared and aware than to bring bed bugs home. Thankfully none of our teammates found any...at least not right away. However, as one family was packing up they unfortunately found bugs in their room. I understand that this can happen at the nicest of hotels. However, the hotel staff had the audacity to say that they didn't have any problems until our teams arrived. Inferring that WE brought the bugs! I'm sorry, but we are baseball teams, not a cult who lives on a commune together! Plus, one of the families found the bugs before they even unpacked! This was completely unacceptable. I've spent the last 24 hours disinfecting everything we had in our room just to be safe. We will never be back to this place and will be sure no one we know will stay there either. read more

Loved this hotel! Location, price, breakfast, pool, staff: all great! The carpet is older and could use a good cleaning or replacement. Nice common areas for family gathering, playing board games or cards, or just hanging out and watching tv. Stay included passes to Chula Vista, we really enjoyed that! Bathroom smelled musty but housekeeping immediately came up and refreshed everything when we asked about the smell. Didn't notice a smell again during our stay. Bathroom only had one hook which made reusing towels nearly impossible bc they didn't get dry. More hooks would be better. Overall great experience. We will be back! read more

Our team stayed at this hotel in March. Staff was very accommodating and hotel was fairly clean despite the construction. Beds were comfortable and the temp inside was perfect. We used the lobby area for gatherings both during the day and at night without any difficulties. Loved that the Chula Vista waterpark passes were included with our stay and that we weren't required to have the 2 day minimum. Staff was wonderful- we would like to compliment/recognize a gentleman who went above and beyond. Right before leaving for a tournament, our daughter tried to curl her hair with a comb and failed. We tried everything to get it out. The sweet employee helped her out and saved us from having to cut our daughter's hair. Only reason I'm giving the hotel 4 stars is because they had a ton of mattresses lying outside of the hotel which made us a little nervous when we pulled into the lot. We were also underwhelmed with the breakfast. Not a great selection and the potatoes were frozen. read more

I stayed one night well working up the interstate. Room was cozy, also was clean. I utilized the pool well I stayed and it was great. They also had a hot tub that felt amazing. Check in check out process was easy and fast. That being said this is right off the interstate. Be prepared to hear a lot of traffic noise. This was my first time staying here, and I will definitely book again on another trip to Wisconsin Dells. The rooms are spacious and have comfortable beds and we had a nice little balcony facing a lovely wooded area. There's a big pool with a hot tub for relaxing and tasty breakfast items in the morning. I can't give enough praise for manager Travis and how amazing he was during our stay. Any concerns we had were addressed in a timely manner. One of the sinks was slow moving so he had a maintenance person come in to clear the drain and get it working well again. My friend and I both needed closed captioning on the TV and had a difficult time finding the channel guide so that we could choose programs to watch. Travis came to the room and spent quite a bit of time trying to get the captioning to work. He had told us that the hotel is going to be remodeling all of the rooms and that the new TVs, which were significantly larger screens and with a remote that was easier to navigate, were already there and he would bring one to our room and set it up for us so that we could enjoy the larger screen during the rest of our stay. He was true to his word and the new TV was in our room and ready to watch within a short time. I believe in giving compliments where compliments are due. Travis is exceptional! He made our stay an especially enjoyable one. read more

Will absolutely never stay here again. Every negative review I've read regarding the management is 100% correct. My children and I were startled awake after midnight by a man in a towel entering our room. His key card was able to unlock our door and he let himself in. When I confronted the front desk to inform them of this absurd safety issue, the manager tried her best to blame it on us that we "must have left the door open". How in the world would a door that closes and locks behind us be left open?? Even if it was an open door, that in itself is an issue with the closing mechanism that would allow anyone to enter a room at will. read more

First, my family has stayed here multiple times in the past with few complaints. This past time however was different. The front desk staff is rude. They don't even look up when you ask them questions and look annoyed when you try to talk to them. Bed sheets had multiple stains on them. When asked to get new sheets the front desk staff replied they needed to see the sheets first. They came to my room to "inspect" the sheets to see if they deemed them appropriate to change. Not only we're there stains on the sheets, but also on the bedposts and walls. The pool closes for children at 10:00 and it turns into an adults only pool area. This comes at no warning. The front desk just shows up at 10:00 and tells the kids they have to leave the pool area. They were also very rude in telling the children to leave the pool. The place is completely getting run down and we won't be staying here again. read more

Not half as expensive as all the other hotels in the area that charge crazy fees for anything. We got a King room for no upgrade charge, it included free breakfast and Chula Vista passes. At the other hotels, you pay $50-$60 more in price and it is only 2 Queens, no breakfast and they don't always have passes. The rooms were amazing!! We felt so at home and comfortable. Our room also had a balcony looking out to beautiful fall trees. They had a hot tub, sauna, a pool AND a kid pool play section. It was really nice and it wasn't overflowing with kids. Very nice accomodations for the price. Great value. Our double queen bed room was clean, the beds were clean, the bathroom was spotless. The free breakfast was very good, quite a large selection. The wonderful lady taking care of the breakfast area even cooked an egg (gluten free) for my wife. Rustic lodge-like decor complete with mounted deer head in the lobby carries over into your room with log beds and furniture, Quaint and nice. read more

I stayed there this past Father's Day weekend. The lodge look is very appealing to me. The hallway atmosphere is cozy; I like the pictures the have on the hallway walls. The room colors, furnishings also made me feel cozy I had a nice tree background through the window where my room faced. The bathroom was clean. I did notice the bottom wall trims were gone which was strange. The water pressure was strong. The staff were friendly. The breakfast foods were average but good. The location was right across Paul Bunyan Restaurant and it's not too far from Noah's Ark! Plus! this place is pet friendly and I was able to bring my dog! read more

Excellent choice. The AmericInn in Wisconsin Dells was quiet, clean and the staff was friendly. The breakfast was acceptable, including waffle makers and a variety of other choices that varied from day to day such as eggs, ham, sausage etc. My kids really enjoyed the pool because it has 2 basketball hoops right there in the pool, so they were able to play basketball while I relaxed in the hot pool. The bad: The wait to check-in was surprisingly long and slow, so that was annoying. Only 1 woman at the computer.. Even though other staff were walking around. It was strange. The free breakfast wasn't too bad. Eggs, sausage, bagels (no cream cheese) , toast and butter, waffle maker, coffee, tea and juice. Our room was fine except for one of our lamp shades had a huge crack and a hole in it with a few mystery stains on it. Kinda gross. The pool towels are very small and as rough as sand paper, not fun. The good: The pool area was nice. They have a regular sized pool that isn't deep, I think it went up to 5 feet. There is a shallow kiddie pool area with a frog slide which is cool. Also a decent sized hot tub. Strongly recommend that you bring your own towels, though. The TV was fine, a little on the small side. We had a balcony which was nice, beautiful view of the forest. It was an average hotel. The decor is very dated and ugly so if you are looking for modern or contemporary, this isn't your place to be. read more

We were there at 4pm (check in time) and had to wait - Could barely walk down hallways as there was so much clutter and garbage - They gave us wrong room key and had to go back to desk - Light fixtures not covered and sparked when entered room called and spoke to manager and she did nothing - Inside and outside tables falling apart - when called and spoke to manager she was VERY rude and not helpful. When we went down to front desk they told us that manager told them NOT to enter our room what so ever! Will never stay here again! read more

The management and staff at this hotel are very unprofessional. We left an outfit, it was stolen and the management assured me resolve to replace the outfit. She also assured me that not one of her staff would steal. I disagree, as after one hour we called and were told it wasn't there. After providing receipt and telling management that with certainty the other receipt was in the outfit as it was a gift to my husband. After this she never called back and ignored emails. Guard your belongings check room before u leave as your items will not be returned because not one of her staff would steal. If this is the case where is our outfit that we unfortunately left behind? The pool, sauna, and jacuzzi were perfect temperatures and our beds were very comfortable. A nice bonus here is that the pool is adults only from 10-midnight. We will definitely be back! We had an amazing stay our first time here but this time we were both really disappointed. We were given a handicap suite which isn't a big deal but neither of us are handicapped and some of the amenities caused us issues. I also hope it isn't the only handicap suite the we were using up so it wouldn't be available for someone who is. The towel hanger inside the bathroom door is in a terrible spot and I caught my arm on it and got a pretty bad bruise/lump. The tv in the main room didn't work so we had to use the tiny television in the bedroom. Handles on the whirlpool tub kept falling off when we used it. The bathroom door did not latch either. The staff were incredibly kind and made our stay as best as they could. Only reason I am giving it three stars. It is more the physical building needs to be fixed and updated than anything. read more

Staff rude/unfriendly and didn't care if we were there or not. Waited 4-5 minutes before the front desk clerk even acknowledged my wife and I. When reservations were made, we emailed and phoned for a request for early check-in due to my wife's disability. Were told to ask at the desk when we arrive and it should not be an issue. The first thing the clerk told us was that they do not do early check-in in the summer. I mentioned my wife's disability and could we at least see a room. They showed us one that was on the first floor near the front door and was ready but reserved for a party arriving the next day. She then said our room would be the one right next door. We asked for a manager, however none was available. Called customer service and they said to go back inside and ask for the manager who was on duty. Was then told she was unavailable now. Ten minutes later, was told we could check in, however our room now was on the third floor in the middle of the corridor. While the one on the first floor that they showed up was ready, it stayed empty until the next day. Never did see the manager, even though we asked for her several times throughout our stay. A/C didn't work in the room and had to call the front desk. Bedding was old and uncomfortable. Needed towels and was told there weren't any ready at the moment. Needed toilet paper and had to get it ourselves. Asked for a receipt and was told no, it would be given to us upon checkout even though my wife paid with cash. With our stay, Chula Vista passes were included within our stay. When we went there, we were denied entry saying the passes were no good. Went to Mt. Olympus. Again, no one at the front desk acknowledged us with a hello or any kind of greeting. When asking about our bill at checkout, and asked what was my balance, was told NOTHING very rudely. Would never recommend this hotel. With the high rates that we were charged, this is unacceptable anywhere! Next time we will stay at the Best Western next door. My 2 year old daughter and I had a wonderful stay at this hotel. The room was clean when we arrived, and we were very happy with the balcony and jacuzzi. The bed was comfortable and we appreciated the AC/heat unit. Breakfast was very good; it included eggs, sausage, homemade bread pudding, and other typical breakfast items. The breakfast hostess, Loretta, was so sweet and friendly. She greeted everybody in the morning with a huge smile on her face and did a great job with the breakfast spread. She even cleared my table for me while I was waiting for my daughter to (slowly) eat her cereal - so kind! I enjoyed the rustic style of the hotel as well. This hotel is pet friendly, which is great. However, on the first night of our stay, as my daughter and I were walking to our room on the 2nd floor, 2 large dogs walking with their owners started barking loudly and trying to run/pull on the leash toward my daughter and I. My daughter was terrified and so was I to be quite honest. Every time we had to go in the hallway after that experience, my daughter was scared the dogs would be there and needed me to carry her. I did call the front desk and make them aware of the situation. I appreciate pet-friendliness, however I think that if your animal is not friendly with other people or with kids, you shouldn't be bringing them to the hotel. Great service. Very comfortable rooms, good choice for free breakfast, very responsive and courteous employees.

We arrived for check in at 4 pm. We were given keys to room and when we entered the room had not been cleaned. The room was trashed. When we told the front desk they seemed surprised. They had to call the cleaning person back to the hotel, who lived a half hour away. We had to wait until 6:30 pm to get into room. read more
