From out-of-state vacationing with our teenage grandsons. This is our third stay here, so the boys know their way around pretty well. We also have relatives nearby that come stay to make it a large family affair. The boys really love this place. The numerous water parks are all great. The arcade area is good for half a day. The food venues are all good and the evening visits for frozen yogurt is a must. Rooms are getting a bit dated but well maintained and more than acceptable for our needs. Plenty of parking. There is so much to do and see in the area, this makes for a great home base location. read more

We came to Wisconsin on 7/3/26 to celebrate our wedding anniversary. One of the things we got tickets for was the Take Flight experience. We couldn't decide out of the two experience which one to do so we did a double feature. We come into the building on the 4th of July and there is an information desk because the place is loaded with other things to do at the resort. We get to the Take Flight and wait in line until it's time for us to go in. It was a bit of a wait because a group before us had just gone in. We did the Space Flight first. WOW is all I can say! I don't want to give it away but I would recommend the experience. It's full of surprises. We really enjoyed Space Flight. Then we unfortunately had to stand in line again for Wonders of the American West. That wait was even longer. We enjoyed that experience too. We got our pictures taken by a photographer for both experiences and we took advantage of their picture offerings after we were done to remember the experience. The one thing that needs improvement is that you have to be weighed before getting access to the line (which is fine). You have to be less than 325 pounds. There is a red light/green bright circular light on a tall pole right above the scale for everyone to see. It's embarrassing if you step on and it turns red for no entry. That should be moved so only the attendant can see. No one should have anxiety about people seeing if you get a green light or red light. Next we were hungry so we stopped at the Camp Social Burger Bar. Many were hanging out at the bar and the food looked pretty good so we decided to get the Burger BBQ which is an angus beef patty with cheese, bacon and onion strings with bbq sauce. It came with homemade potato chips. Hubby got a pina colada mocktail and they decorated it so pretty with the 4th of July colors and decorations. I must say the burger, chips and the drink were divine. We sat in the seating they have and just chilled which was nice. They have so many other eating places and a candy shop. First, it feels overwhelming for the amount of information that is given when you check in, but everything is handed in a pamphlet that makes it easy to reference back to. Walking in the skyway is hard nice with the arrows but walking outside especially with the periodic carts is much easier. There are plenty of indoor and outdoor parks, and each have their own unique slides - I preferred the slides with the companion tubes. These ones were just strict about water shoes and sunglasses being worn. There are plenty of bathrooms and showers, but towels are a luxury. I had so much fun in the water but also enjoyed all the extra attractions like the arcade, outdoor go-kart, and shops. read more

I would love to leave a very special review to two very nice staff members at JJ's- Tulio and Sham. They were extremely polite and extremely respectful. They made ordering super easy and their attitude was just amazing. I had a small issue and they were able to problem solved within a second period my stay here has been for five days and this is the first time I feel completely happy. Went here for spring break with two friends and my mom, it was really fun! Rooms are clean, spacious, but tvs are hard to work. Staff, especially in arcade by the go-karts, are pretty rude. Lady yelled at us because we misunderstood that the fun passes didn't get you unlimited credits, only other things. Another woman yelled at us in one of the candy cabins for being by the toppings, while we were getting froyo..? Disclaimer, I've never been here, so I had no idea where the water slides were, and I did not have a map. So i obviously asked the WATERPARK staff where the slides were, they looked at me like I was crazy and said "in the water parks.?" I felt embarrassed so I thanked them and left. Eventually found the slides but still, quite rude and unfair. Waterslides were very fun though! Loved going down them, especially the hurricane/funnel one. Not a lot of seating though, and very bad security or service. We had towels stolen and I even caught a family trying to steal me and my friends towels and phones while we were swimming, thankfully my stomach hurt so I caught them and nothing major was taken. The resort itself isn't horrible but it's a pretty low mid experience all around for inhouse attractions the hallways are grossly hot we went on a weekend with temps in the 90's and they had many of the ac/heater units set to 85 on heat. The most annoying is they have predatory company's inhouse to sell you things you that will ruin your vacation and cause you to have to spend more time to fix mistakes made during a time you're supposed to be relaxing and relieving stress not adding more... I'll say for all the downfalls the wilderness seems as though it is specially designed to be absolutely miserable so that it makes the Wyndham timeshare side look like it's something you should purchase. read more

We went here for Christmas as an alternative of presents. So they give you fabric bands, which are your key cards to your room and to buy stuff. There was four water parks to check out so we went to a different one each day. The kids loved the Timberland adventure climbing course there was five stories and they had connectors to go across to the other side. There are giant slides, and obstacles to climb all over. There was also a three story go kart track and the first hour of each morning. It was kids only they got to drive on the track. They also had a three story laser tag area that was open 24 hours along with a three-story ropes course that was open a pretty long time the ropes course was over the arcade. And they had three climbing walls to pick from. so we have to upgrade our bands for $40 to have unlimited ropes course, laser tag, go kart rides and no matter how many days you stayed the unlimited bands were for all the days. It's definitely spread out so you don't run into a bunch of people and you pick where you wanna go each day. There were several restaurants of food to pick from. The rooms had a microwave, mini fridge and bar sink and also had a nice table along the wall with barstools and two of the walls and then the kids had a separate TV in their area with some tables in front of their pullout that had different tables inside that you could pull out for extra table space. For all the rides on the tubes you got weighed to make sure you were heavy enough to keep the tubes down so there was no accidents. The workers don't speak very good English so communication was difficult. The parking lot was huge so you do have to walk a bit to get to your rooms. We also got a ticket to do a Polar express ride in like IMAX room. The price comparable to other water parks. This was very reasonable for everything that they offered and this is the only place my kids ever talk about going. They don't really care to go to any other water parks we've ever been to except for this one. read more

This place was awesome. I was nervous about going to water parks in Wisconsin at the end of the summer but it worked out. We stayed in a suite that housed 6 that came with a kitchen so we didn't have to fast food it everyday for the 4 days we were there. The weather turned out fine on Saturday for indoor and outdoor pooling, water sliding, hot tubing and the lazy rivering. Even though we were there for the grand kids Pop Pop took advantage of the swim up bars, hot tubs and lazy rivers. read more

We did a 2 night family stay at the Wilderness, and overall had a very nice time! The resort is huge and there is lots to do. I think this is especially nice for the colder months. We enjoyed access to several water parks and arcades and indoor mini golf. Here are some not so great things: 1. Others have pointed out that it's difficult to find places within the resort. The attraction names are here to remember/keep track of and the arrows throughout the resort do not offer much help 2. We were here in April, so I get it's not peak season but we didn't like that only 1 water park was open per day and most of the on-site eatery's were closed for our whole stay. 3. There is a shuttle that can take you to some of the associated restaurants. You use the room phone to request it and then 2 minutes later the shuttle is supposed to arrive at the door. We did this and waited for at least 15 min, several shuttles drive right past us but either drive around the parking lot or went to other doors. It was confusing and frustrating and we ended up driving ourselves. 4. While the room is nice overall, the air conditioning unit is super loud and kicks in all the time which kept waking me up. 5. Finally, the pillows were the absolute worst! It felt like the pillows were filled with chopped up foam. Glad we live in driving distance so I can pack my own pillows next time! All-in-all we had a nice time, I think if we come back next time we will try staying the cottages where you have a full kitchen, so there wasn't much good food around/ in the resort. read more

It was my first time back at the Wilderness Resort in about 4 years - and it was a pretty fun time! They recently remodeled their rooms and hallways - the carpets and walls are different, as are their beds. It looks a lot more corporate now, and lost some of its "wild" theming but it still looks pretty nice to be honest. The water park layout is the same - there are 4 indoor Waterparks (and multiple outdoor ones open after Memorial Day) - one of the indoor water parks (the Wilderness on the Lake Waterpark) you must take the blue bus shuttle over to - they run every 10-20 minutes and are free for resort guests. They added another swim up bar in their Wild West Waterpark (also remodeled) which is great - it looks really nice! The black hole water ride in the Wild West water park is my favorite ride there it's very fun. Overall, I'd give Wilderness 4 stars, it's really nice and a lot of fun. Also as a P.S - after you check in, the employee will give you a coupon book and then send you to the "Wyndham Experiences" desk at the front in the corner of the New Frontier lobby - they are basically trying to sell you timeshares vacations, avoid them and do not take their tours. Just the cost, is a big negative. (Which was expected though so had no input in my rating until the end) Depending when you go, my daughters birthday is the most expensive of the summer so that sucks. The kids club was boring the one time we tried it. They have a huge jungle gym on the wild west side that my daughters would play in for hours and loved. It's definitely the best place we found there. We have went 4 times, the last was our worst experience. There was a tornado watch so we spend most of the day in the room. During this time teenagers tore down her birthday door decorations and were banging on our door throughout the day and then several times late into the night. Till I ran out in my night gown after them, went to the front desk irritate. My daughter was too afraid to go to sleep that night and ended up sleeping in the next day (her birthday) because of their behavior. Which was sad, the person in charged claimed they were going to do something (like a comp,or free fun passes) and have a manager reach out once in. We were here mid week and end of August so the crowds were low but all the restaurants and rides were open. Staff were cheerful. They have both traditional shuttle buses and golf cart shuttles to assist with moving around the large resort. Walking is also possible if you choose. What a maze- be prepped for lots of stairs; and I'm not talking about the slides...I'm glad that I did not have a wagon or stroller or a wheelchair!!! Very few elevators. To access any of the indoor water parks one moment you are climbing up and down one flights. I kid you not, it's only 12:45 and we have already done 10 flights of stairs and walked 12000 steps! We checkout tomorrow!!!! Still have 9 hours of pool time. The wave pool dome has you walking narrow pathways then climbing steps from one building to the other. We went to the bar pub and the arcade closest to the registration desk. It was very empty maybe 10 to 15% capacity we were seated in a section with a server named Alex. I don't know if Alex was new but he certainly had zero clue what he was doing. I ordered my three sons their meals my one son order sliders with extra pickles and Alex brought out chicken tenders telling me that's what I in fact order. I know for damn sure I would never order that for this Son because he cannot stand chicken tenders we ended up taking them anyway, and my kids switch their meals to deal with it because we didn't want to wait an extra 15 minutes for more food. There was no apology only blame on me. After he served us our food, it was maybe 30 minutes before we saw him again after half of our group left. I asked for some boxes and he brought two boxes for three meals. I had to ask for another box and this took him another 10 minutes and I'm looking at these boxes Well if you're bringing more than two boxes is there a bag so I asked for a bag and we finally brought the bag and my check. I ordered a cheeseburger without a bun which was $14 and he charged me $15 for a gluten-free cheeseburger. I'd like to understand why subtracting a bun from a meal causes the need to pay extra. but since I never saw Alex, I didn't get a chance to really question that. So I waited to make the payment and after waiting several minutes and never seen him. I finally went to the bar in which I had to wait for the bartender to talk to me. When I told her I was paying at a room. She went to go check down Alex and when I told her good luck cause I haven't seen him for about 20 minutes she just shrugged and said Oh well. At this point, I did not leave a tip for Alex writing the reason why on the receipt. I'm not asking for the guy to be fired, but he needs better training than what he has had. Prior to going to the pub for our food, we went over to the food court, not knowing that apparently at the food court there's only a breakfast buffet, according to the lady at the register who was snapping at other customers because they were already closed. Well, maybe you should put up a sign that says "breakfast only no other meal served here" Or something I didn't know what they were intending to set up for lunch and when I had inquired, she was so rude and told me I could only have lunch at the hamburger bar next to them, not letting me know that there was actually another restaurant within a hotel By the arcade that we can sit down at. The weird thing was I had my youngest son at a doctors appointment the day before and he measured under wall 48.5 inches. The resort has signs all over stating you need to be 42 to 48 inches for the slide we put them up against the high charge for the slide and I swear to you the 48 inch line was a full 2 inches above his head- So my point with this is if your child is at the cost of 48 inches wait till he's at least four foot, 3 inches or so prior to bringing them. We were brought here as a guest, I want to say back in 2010. At the time, my oldest children were 10 and 11 years old and I really didn't like how separated the indoor water parks were compared to Kalahari or Black Wolf Lodge. My youngest two children are seven and eight years old and we thought we'd give it another try because of the idea that they did have separated and smaller water parts to not get lost in. However, Having multiple children who want to be in multiple places isn't fun. Won't be returning. read more

When we first arrived, our room wasn't ready just yet. Staff is SO friendly. Housekeeping is amazing! When you first wake up, do dry stuff first in the Resort then enjoy the waterparks, it makes for a more enjoyable experience and optimizes day time. The indoor waterparks are very humid. Wristbands are neat they can be used at the consession stands and all places in the park to make purchases, great for teens to slip off and grab a milkshake without losing your card. Don't waste your time bringing a towels you get towel cards and using the resorts means less you have to carry. Bring a wagon to carry all of your things for you. You will do a ton of walking. Utilize the shuttle bus, it will take you to all the different waterparks & the restaurants on site. Bring a robe for in-between parks. Hallways are very hot. No air conditioning in hallways. Pack breakfast and lunch eating at the resort is ridiculously expensive. We took a small cooler with drinks & snacks to all the waterparks. Sunscreen, don't forget sunscreen & apply it often! Water shoes are a must have, the wave pool will shred your feet. Take a shower at the end of each day, the salt water will dry your skin out. Stay for at least 3 nights anything less is not enough time to do everything. We stayed for 6. Get the unlimited bands if you're staying at least 3 nights or more, other wise it's a waste of money & you won't have time anyways. The pottery place is extremely expensive. It takes 2 days to get your pottery back, prepare for that. Drive off the resort for food, it does not take much time and it saves lots of money. When you buy a locker it is interchangeable and you can use a locker at each water park you go to. Be a tourist, use coupons in the resort get out & visit places. Wisconsin beautiful. read more

I am so disappointed in our stay at Wilderness Resort -- and incredibly relieved we only booked for one night. We planned a short getaway for a fun waterpark experience and intentionally booked for a quieter weekday, knowing the outdoor parks wouldn't be open yet. What we didn't expect (and what is nowhere clearly stated on their website) is that half of the indoor parks and a large portion of the restaurants and amenities would also be closed. The resort fails to disclose this anywhere in the booking process, which is misleading at best and dishonest at worst. When we checked in, the agent was kind and immediately told us that only two indoor parks were open -- and that we'd need to take a water shuttle across the lake to access a third, much smaller one clearly designed for children. We're adults, so this dramatically reduced the value of the experience. We enjoyed the open waterparks for about four hours, but that was it. Once we explored the rest of the resort, it became painfully clear that this property is running on fumes -- restaurants closed, venues dark, dated hallways and rooms, and a general vibe that this place peaked a decade ago and hasn't seen meaningful reinvestment since. Hallways you walk through to get to the Wild West park smell intensely like urine. Nice. What made everything worse was the pushy timeshare sales pitch that hijacked our check-in experience. We were stopped by a Wyndham rep under the guise of receiving a "coupon book" and then pressured into a sales pitch that we had zero interest in. The second we said we weren't interested, the friendly demeanor vanished. So much for hospitality. Then -- unbelievably -- we were woken up at 9AM the next morning with a phone call from the same timeshare pitch team. My husband politely declined. They called again. We had intended to return to the waterparks that morning, but instead we packed up and left. There was simply no reason to stay another minute. Between the misleading advertising, the bait-and-switch tactics, the aggressive timeshare sales, and the general feeling of neglect, I would never return to this resort. This is not how any reputable hospitality business should operate. Bonus warning: language barriers were frequent, which made communication clunky, even with friendly staff. I've stayed at the hotel numerous times and this was the worst. Overall the hotel was great but our room was the horrible for noise. We stayed in room #477, the room was nice however the noise level was unbelievable. All we could hear was running, stomping of people of all hours. It felt as if it was a heard of elephants trampling through the hotel from 7am-11pm. The bouncing of balls not to mention people off walls. Then to make matters worse we were woken up by a couple arguing in the foyer at 3 am. I would never recommend this room! We were excited due to the fact it was on the first floor and a great location but then we paid the price for the noise and lack of sleep we received. read more

We spent a week at the Wilderness Resort in Wisconsin Dells. Here's a quick review and some important things you should know before going... The Wilderness is an amazing resort SPECIFICALLY GEARED TOWARD YOUNGER KIDS and families (13 yrs and under). Think, midwest Disneyland, but a waterpark version of it-- ideal for a quick one-stop getaway or best during brutal winters when you don't want to step outside. ~~~ PROS: - Access to all 8-something indoor and outdoor waterparks. The Waterdome wave-pool and the newest WildWest water-park were our family's go-to favs. - Updated bedrooms, with a convenient outdoor deck and separate eating areas. (Note: Most WisDells hotel rooms are 'old,' Wilderness had one of the most recent remodels.) - Shoutout to all the amazing indoor non-water activities (Polka-Dot-Pots, Arcades, Go-Carts, Kid-zone, Golf, Lasertag, Takeflight) - Because the resort is huge, you will always be able to find a seat/chair no matter which waterpark you go to. (*Note, we went off-peak) ~~~ CONS: - Inconsistent Wifi: Although wifi was free, it kept disconnecting, and you'd have to reconnect every time you got back on your device. There's poor wifi/cell reception on the skywalk going from Wilderness Resort to Lost World/ Glacier Canyon Lodge. - Resort Prices: Everything within the resort is overpriced, so if you don't have access to a car, or internet, be prepared to pay EXTRA for simple things. Some places DO NOT list their prices--so remember to ask before purchasing. - Resort Food is Glum: Limited to no access to fresh fruit or veg, again this place is geared toward kids, so there are lots of burgers, fries, pizza, cheese curds, and kraft mac. The breakfast buffet is sub-par with very few and limited options, not recommended. - Language/Communication Barrier: A majority of the front-side workers (including the front desk) were international students or those on a work-visa, English is not their first language. Be patient. ~~~ IMPORTANT THINGS YOU SHOULD KNOW: - Better Places To Eat: *Molly's Shake Shoppe for milkshakes ($15), *Mama Tiger for something (a bit) healthy ($16), *Klondike Pizza for a whole pizza ($22), *Coffee Canteen for coffee ($4+) and pastries ($5+), and *Swimming Chicken for fried chicken ($15) and cheese curds ($15). - Walking Time: It takes about 1.5 hours of non-stop walking, end-to-end throughout the entire resort, to visit every indoor/outdoor pool, restaurant, and convenience shop. If you have a little one, best to bring a stroller or a wagon, it's a lot of walking. - Navigation: The whole resort is accessible via the second floor. You can get anywhere if you stay on that level. With that said, it's best to avoid rooms on the second floor, it gets loud and busy. - Amenities: Unless you want to pay $4 for water/soda, it's best to bring your own refillable water bottle, there are water fountains located everywhere. Room: Good size, newer mattresses, old pillows, so the combination was very uncomfortable. Sofa sleeper mattress terrible. Enough towels to start with good. Showerhead bad. Fitness center at the very end of the property, Long walk from room 100's. Up and down stairs, across bridge, rounding corner after corner. Fitness center 2 TV's both broken, 2 Treadmills 1 broken, room light shut off in 10 min, unless you are on the weight side where it can see movement. No wipes to clean off machines in there either. Food WAY overpriced. Waterpark, over crowded. Waterpark lack of floats, 2 larger slides (4-5 person ones) had less than 5 available floats to use, conveyor systems takes long time, under staffed at the top, lines form almost to the bottom of the steps. Wave pool sells balls to play with, when waves start cant use, thats fine, but lifeguards whistling because still in our hands, yet just being held once waves start, uncool are you suppose to run out when start and then run back in, stupid. Billed twice for stay and zero help from local WI Wilderness Hotel dells customer service. We called and their recommendation was to call our cc company. Keep in mind they made the mistake and while they own the mistake they will not fix it because " they charged us" so we have to deal with out credit card company. All fine but, but they made the charge mistake and refuse to take any responsibility. The front desk representative said it would show up twice and be charged back. Most favorite water park and resort in the Dells! There is so much to explore and relax even a swim up bar for the adults! Love that they give you towels when you buy a day pass. Don't really understand the negative reviews. Had a really fun time here with a plethora of good rides and activities. The lines can be extremely long, and there aren't much options for adults at some of the parks, but overall, it was a good experience. DO NOT GO ON THE TAKE FLIGHT RIDE!! It is terrifying and dangerous!! It is not what we were expecting at all! Your seats slide to the end of a platform and tilt you off the edge of a 3 story drop off. The only thing saving you is the seat belt. We wanted off immediately but there was no staff in there to stop the ride. This is an accident waiting to happen and should be shut down. This experience was traumatizing and ruined our vacation! read more

Typical poorly managed and over capacity park. Signs don't help in getting around and the map given at the front desk is even worse. The map is pretty much an ad for all the local businesses. Staff is useless and just tell you they're over capacity and to deal with it. At least offer a credit! Literally had to pull a trolley into the hallway outside the waterpark and use that as a bench. Pathetic. The worst thing about this place is that it's 2023 and they don't have any decent internet. Not in the lobby, water park, OR rooms. Anywhere I go their wifi doesn't work. Support pretty much says the same excuse, they're over capacity. If you have a capacity, why book beyond that!? Oh wait, GREED!!! read more

I love this place. This place it the best spot for the family if you looking for a vacation in the dells. The rooms are nice, staff is friendly. And the water park is HUGE. I like the hurricane ride. (The water park I'm talking no about is the Klondike if you were wondering). Perfect for the family. Also try Yukon Yogurt, it's pretty good. read more

I didn't have any issues with customer service or employees. Staff was amazing. Tons of kids in the hallways. i think the best time to go to Wisconsin Dells would have to be like January when it's cold and kids are back in school. Our room was clean. Walls were paper thin. Other than that, a lot of different activities and 3 indoor water parks. read more

Me and my family went to the wilderness to stay for a night. We go to the water park and we had a few different issues that completely ruined our stay at the wilderness. First, there was a young girl clearly blackout drunk--slurring, stumbling, and vomiting all over the bathroom. She could not even keep her head above the water because she was so drunk. It was disturbing and dangerous. We told the staff and managers, and you'd think they'd cut her off and get her some help. Nope. They continued serving her alcohol like it was nothing. I don't even know how she was still standing, let alone being served. Then, in the hot tub, one of the employees casually mentioned a broken tile--as if that was no big deal. Well, it was a big deal because shortly after, someone actually cut their foot on it and was bleeding in the water. Disgusting and dangerous. And did they clear the hot tub or fix it? Nope again. They just left it open like nothing happened, and people kept getting in! Between the complete disregard for guest safety and the absolute lack of accountability from staff and management, I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. It's not just unprofessional--it's unsafe Very unsafe to have someone bleeding in the hot tub with young children and not evacuate it. Warning take a video or take pictures of your room upon entering. Make sure it's time stamped. That resort just charged my niece $1,250 for a freezer contained within the refrigerator has a round circle in it from somebody putting in I would have to imagine a hot pot. And here's the kicker, all these children with us have lost their dads and the women naturally lost their husbands. This was supposed to be time just for healing. My niece has been fighting with them she used a debit card that was the first mistake always use a credit card there I would stay away from that place personally. I hope you decide to go to a different resort and please take pictures or a video and timestamp. Several years ago another establishment in the Dells charge my daughter for dog feces. They don't even own a dog my son-in-law isn't asthmatic. You be careful on your vacation! And always use your credit card so you can call the company and tell him deny the charges.
