We greatly enjoyed our stay at the Black Hawk. Our room was very comfortable, and the indoor pool and sauna were such a nice bonus. It was a clean and fun place to stay at a great price.

This motel is kitschy, retro and unapologetically Native American in theme. Everyone who worked there was amazingly friendly. We walked in the check in door which dinged and someone helped us. Versus when we were at Kalahari they were waiting in three lines, 10 people deep. Our room was super clean, and how cool is it to have three queen size beds? We were in room 20 right across from the arcade games and the pool, I have no doubt that they put us there on purpose knowing we had two 12-year-olds and two 14-year-olds. They seem like thoughtful people like that. The one day the kids went over to the arcade and the games weren't on in so they went to the office to ask them to turn them on. Minutes later a guy drove up in a car with black hawk license plates and afterward they rambled on about this guy for hours. "He was just cool." Oh and the best part, they gave us a Kalahari indoor pass to go karting and climbing wall and more for all five of us for all three days we were there. This humored the kids for hours. And the rooms were $60 on a Thursday night and $75 on a Friday. A bargain! I highly recommend it!

Always a favorite when going to the Dells! Place is how a family vaca should be and it looks the same as when I was a kid at least the outside. It's clean and remodeled inside. Pools are warm and clean, place is great. Don't stay at those crazy waterpark places they SUCK. This place gives you free passes to water parks anyway. Fun and friendly owners. There is a reason this place is the #1 place to stay on trip advisor! U got me? My only beef with the Dells is they act like Disney these days, nickel and dime the s*** out of you. Not the Blackhawk the shops and parks. Everything is over priced. Jeesh!

So I went Ahead and gladly paid $577 for my over night stay and couples massage. The room was awsome and the massages were great! But then to get woken up at 7:30am with loud banging literally right next door was frustrating. I think it's great your trying to imprOve and expand but then be honest with me and I would have waited to spend my $577 when the construction was over. My friend works construction everyday and took today (Monday) off of work to get away and relax with me and we dealt with it the whole time. Also I think it's pretty unsanitary to have the breakfast food literally NEXT to rooms that are being worked on. I could see dust coming from a room very close to wear all the fruit and other food was laying out.

We couldn't decide out of the two experience which one to do so we did a double feature. We come into the building on the 4th of July and there is an information desk because the place is loaded with other things to do at the resort. We get to the Take Flight and wait in line until it's time for us to go in. It was a bit of a wait because a group before us had just gone in. We did the Space Flight first. WOW is all I can say! I don't want to give it away but I would recommend the experience. It's full of surprises. We really enjoyed Space Flight. Then we unfortunately had to stand in line again for Wonders of the American West. That wait was even longer. We enjoyed that experience too. We got our pictures taken by a photographer for both experiences and we took advantage of their picture offerings after we were done to remember the experience. The one thing that needs improvement is that you have to be weighed before getting access to the line (which is fine). You have to be less than 325 pounds. There is a red light/green bright circular light on a tall pole right above the scale for everyone to see. It's embarrassing if you step on and it turns red for no entry. That should be moved so only the attendant can see. No one should have anxiety about people seeing if you get a green light or red light. Next we were hungry so we stopped at the Camp Social Burger Bar. Many were hanging out at the bar and the food looked pretty good so we decided to get the Burger BBQ which is an angus beef patty with cheese, bacon and onion strings with bbq sauce. It came with homemade potato chips. Hubby got a pina colada mocktail and they decorated it so pretty with the 4th of July colors and decorations. I must say the burger, chips and the drink were divine. We sat in the seating they have and just chilled which was nice. They have so many other eating places and a candy shop. We really enjoyed our experience there and highly recommend. Thank you Wilderness at the Resort. A+ in our books!

My best friend and I called this place on a roadtrip because we found it on google and thought it was worth a shot and Chris the owner answered and was so kind and thoughtful that we detoured and stopped to meet him there in the middle of winter. We chose this place because of him and the fabulous, well kept property. We cannot thank them enough for the use of the clubhouse and pool! From the moment we arrived, we were greeted with warm hospitality and exceptional service that made our stay truly unforgettable.  Chris and his wife Angie, the staff and property were more than we could have dreamed up! The property itself is absolutely stunning, nestled in a picturesque setting that offers breathtaking views and a serene atmosphere of the Wisconsin River. It was the perfect site for our wedding and family gathering, providing a beautiful backdrop for our special day and ample space for all our guests to relax and enjoy.  The owners went above and beyond to ensure that every detail was taken care of, making the entire experience seamless and stress-free. Our children ranged age 1 - 5 on this trip and we had six adults. We have been to multiple water parks and attractions, our two most recent being Cedar Point Shores and Zehnder's Splash Village. Overall we enjoyed our visits to the waterparks here at Kalahari Wis Dells. We had a weekend pass that also included entrance to Timbavati Wildlife Park. The outdoor waterpark was a decent size, offering the expected attractions as well as nice features like a standard swimming pool. Over our weekend we didn't have any issues finding seating and found amenities like food and drink within a comfortable proximity. Our little ones found a lot of enjoyment in the smallest play area, and inclusions such as the swings over the water helped mix it up. A foam party appeared more than once which was a fun additional activity to enjoy for all ages. Our only criticism of the outdoor park was the pool water was extremely, extremely cold. Typically the outdoor waterparks don't feature heated water but whatever was going on here was super tough to enjoy. The indoor waterpark became our preferred space as the water was warmer and there were more activities for the kids in our group. There was more of a mid-level kids area (our 3, 4, and 5 year olds really enjoyed) here as well as a larger smaller kids (1 year and even the 3-5) area. Us adults enjoyed the swim-up bar and some of the slides. My wife and I found time to do the 'Master Blaster' raft slide which was a quick thrill dropping from the very top of the building. Food options across both parks were plentiful and we were able to find something for everyone. Transitioning between parks was a breeze too, as the entrances to both are just a short hallway walk across from each other. The biggest flaw we noticed between the two parks was the towel situation. Both days towels 'ran out' in the afternoon which I would wager causes guests to check out as many towels as possible in the morning which in turn causes the towels to run out. A vicious cycle that may be a process worth revisiting. Design question - why is the lazy river connected to and passes through the wave pool? The lazy river and the wave pool are contradictory adrenaline levels. Weird. All that action really amplified the amount of people pushing, jumping, splashing, and swimming through the lazy river which really detracts from the experience. The gigantic conference center provided a great refuge to take my youngest on a long stroller nap. The conference space is almost comically large and was completely empty on our trip. The theming was excellent and the area was in great condition. Again, all and all we had a great family trip to both water parks and enjoyed our time on this property.

Our first trip was in June. We specifically booked the Treehouse because that was the experience we wanted for our family. When we arrived, we were told there had been a double-booking issue and the Treehouse was no longer available. We were moved to a suite instead. After that experience, I spoke with a Kalahari representative who offered us a discounted return stay so we could come back and finally have the Treehouse experience we originally booked. So we gave Kalahari another chance. We made another seven-hour drive to Wisconsin Dells on August 27, only to arrive and discover that we once again DID NOT have a Treehouse. This time, we had been placed in a cabin. The entire reason we made this second trip was because Kalahari failed to provide the Treehouse the first time. I have email correspondence specifically referencing the two-bedroom loft, and even the Kalahari representative who called us shortly before arrival referred to the two-bedroom loft. At no point during the booking process was I told we were coming back to stay in a cabin. Yet when we arrived, that's where we were placed. I have repeatedly asked a very simple question: When did our reservation become a cabin reservation, who changed it, and where is the documentation showing that I was informed of or agreed to that change? I still have not received a satisfactory answer. We spent approximately $2,800 on this second stay alone, and the resolution offered was a $150 refund. So across two trips, our family has spent more than $5,000 and approximately 28 hours driving to and from Wisconsin Dells. Both trips were negatively impacted by essentially the exact same issue. Book a Treehouse. Arrive. No Treehouse. The most frustrating part is that the SECOND trip only happened because Kalahari was supposed to be making the FIRST situation right. Mistakes happen. I understand that. But when a company makes the same mistake twice--and the second mistake happens during the trip that was specifically arranged to correct the first one--$150 against a $2,800 stay doesn't feel like an appropriate resolution. I've tried handling this privately and giving Kalahari the opportunity to review what happened. I've sent emails, provided screenshots of the correspondence, and asked leadership to review the reservation history. At this point, I still don't have an explanation for how our promised accommodation became a cabin. I can't even get a reply from upper management. For a resort at this price point, I expected significantly better communication, accountability, and customer service. More than $5,000 spent. Two seven-hour drives each way. Two Treehouse bookings. Zero nights in a Treehouse. That pretty much sums up our experience.

Definitely not a waterpark kind of vibe, but a nice pool if your kids want to play, and some lakefront options. The service was fabulous. The gentleman that met me at the front desk could not have been any better and check-in went smoothly. Housekeeping was also very friendly. The rooms were rough. I wasn't aware that it was an animal hotel, and as someone with allergies, I should've looked at the fine print. I'll definitely be taking Benadryl for several days to recover. The room itself was old, I definitely left my shoes on because the carpet was pretty nasty. But the room itself was clean. I had a floor level room, and the only window opened up right to the parking lot so privacy definitely was out of the question.! There were two beds in my room, when I sat down on one, I heard a very big spring noise, almost like a loud, "Boing!" Obviously I avoided that bad the rest of the day. My bed was comfortable the linens were clean. Very loud, but I kind of expected that because there's lots of children here. You definitely get what you pay for it was a budget friendly hotel.
