My home propane tank was way overfilled during the hot summer. It was over 100% full. The relief valve blew and it leaked for 45 minutes. After I had to evacuate the home, cars, pets etc the tech came out and cooled off the tank with my water hose. It was still leaking. I asked for a refund for the 45 minutes of list propane. No one can seem to help. The same thing happened last summer and i didn't have a problem getting a refund... beware of amerigas. I'm changing companies. read more

The worst company I've ever dealt with. Difficult to work with on every level -- unresponsive, unhelpful, and frustrating from start to finish. Called them to get my tank refilled last monday to get refilled a week later still no Propane . Call center is just that! just get the run around and no reason why other than busy . Checked online also to see if I could see any deleivery schedule which there was then the next day it was gone!. If you like being placed on hold for 2 hours or more, only to find out that they will not fill the order correctly, you are at the right place. Worst customer service I have ever had the privilege of doing business with,. I finally gave up on their new advanced phone system, drove 30 minutes to their office only to find out that they DO NOT allow walk-in customers so I am back on hold again... so far for another 45 minutes. Absolutely horrible experience. Could not get any questions answered by the service rep, no response to email. A ridiculous and confusing contract full of typos and mistakes. Oh, and at the house I just bought, they said that they would not give the previous account holder a credit for the remaining gas in the tank, which she had already purchased, and that they would ALSO CHARGE ME FOR IT!!! Are you f**king kidding me? They were trying to charge me for something that had already been purchased by somebody else. That is called stealing. So glad that I called Ferrellgas and got a friendly, professional and competent service rep on the phone right away, who answered my questions for 15 minutes with no pressure of a sale! And lower tank rental rate, no extra charge to be on will call service, a 20% lower rate for first tank, and their market rate was 40% LOWER than Amerigas! I will be opening service at my new house with Ferrellgas. Thank god I didn't get locked into a contract with Amerigas! Screw you, Amerigas! How are you still in business? Awful. read more

If I could give them a ZERO I would. Horrible customer service. I had propane turned on at a vacant rental house just to have the Propane pool heater replaced an be tested. They charged me two service calls at $65 each once to come out to charge me for the propane that came in the tank when I purchased the home then again when the new tenant called to have service put in their name even though they ALSO paid a service charge, plus there were other misc charges only explained as it must be taxes. This is a horrible dishonest company and their customer service is beyond belief. I will be switching company's the next time around. I will also be making a report with the BBB read more

Do not believe the 5 star reviews. They must be related to the owner. Once you rent their tank, you will be ripped off with a price about double the market price. They are billing me $4.31/gallon with the competitor price at $2.15/gallon and the national average of $2.28. Very shady business practices. AmeriGas has high fees and charges the highest for gas. They are focused on charging fees wherever they can and highest per Gallon. I was charged $150 and $64 after 16 years of service when I sold my house. I had to fight to get my credit back for a tank that was 60 percent full. Be very careful, go with Ferell Gas, they are reasonable and not focused on nickel and diming you. read more

Do you believe that propane is a monopoly service and that customers do not have choices? Well, apparently the customer service folks at Amerigas in Indio do! I've been an Amerigas customer for three years. Last year, they charged over $4 per gallon to fill my tank - darn near a thousand dollars. This year, I called them to find out options, and asked if I could go to another provider. I was told by "Mary Ann" that that was impossible because the tank at my home belonged to Amerigas. Thanking her, I hung up the phone and called Ferrellgas. The Ferrellgas price per gallon was a little less than two dollars - HALF of the per gallon rate of Amerigas. So, I ordered my tank from Ferrellgas, and called friendly Mary Ann to order my tank pickup. She asked, "Well, now why would you want to do that?" I told her I went to a competitor and that the competitor will remove all the remaining propane and put it in my tank. She shouts, "That's illegal," whilst I'm peering out the window at the Ferrellgas technician actively moving the fuel to my new tank. I told her to call the police. She hung up the phone on my ear. In my three years as an Amerigas customer, I have almost never been treated like a good customer. Instead, I get a patronizing and unhappy person telling me that I have no options and giving me false information and high prices. I don't expect that being an Amerigas rep in Indio is a very happy existence, but it beats the hell out of unemployment. I'd hate for "Mary Ann" to lose her job, but it would sure be nice if she attended a customer communication skills class. Had she attempted some amount of constructive engagement and politeness, I might have even stayed with Amerigas even if it cost more. As it were, I would have gone with no propane at all rather than give this company another dime. So, we'll give the competition another shot. Their per-year tank rate is $45, compared to the Amerigas $100 tank rental. I will be very happy to never deal with Amerigas again. read more

Absolutely, without a doubt horrible customer service! For 4 months the company has not been able to rectify an invoice whilst at the same time admitting that the invoice should be corrected. One department blames the other for lack of response. I have spoken to both departments and they both admit the problem and promise to have it corrected. read more

I agree with all these negative reviews. When you call them out they do not give you a quote. You just get an exorbitant bill. When I called on it they just said that those are their prices. Very poor customer service not only with their information but their attitude seems like you are bothering them. I called and complained and then had to hang up because the lady was too rude. Horribly company. They charge you huge amounts of money even if you don't use the gas. Above the yearly rental. I have now switched to Ferrelgas. Much nicer to work with AND they do not price gouge you. Never been happier now that we have switched. Have convinced my friends to switch as well. When you get quotes from companies in the area for propane and Amerigas asks for you complete address - you know something is wrong. They were always $2 more than Ferrelgas as well as the National average. Do your homework and get quotes. I would never go back to them. read more

If I could give negative stars I would. This company is terrible. I suggest you heed the warnings here. They billed for deliveries that never took place. Provided zero backup for their invoices. Often just received a "late notice" with exorbitant late fees (33%!) and no explanation of the original charge. ALSO their per gallon charge is quite a bit higher than all others. They charged me for the annual tank rental 3 months early and then started added on late fees! (we did finally get them to remove these charges). We finally had enough of this company and ran out the tank, stopped the service and had them remove it. 3 months have passed and we get a late notice from them for $181.82 ($109.82 for the tank rental - which they never told us, and 2 months of $36 late fees)!!!!! The folks over at AmeriGas are awesome they truly take the time to work with you. I had some personal issues I was going through and they completely understood took the time to explain they had a pricing program to place me on and they let me go on a budget to make it more affordable. I see many of the reviews on here are negative and old for the most part. I feel like Yelp is only for when the customer is angry and wants to yell. I like AmeriGas. They came and hooked me up and allowed me to make monthly payments on my fuel as opposed to their competitor who will only allow you to have your propane once its paid for. Their customer service is wonderful and if you're not in a position to pay 100s up front, AmeriGas is the way to go! They make me happy to be their customer! read more

I have never been so disappointed in a company. My mom bought a house in La Quinta in April. When we first set the account up, they came out and said they filled up the tank, but the gage never changed. It took 3 trys and a new gage to get it right. They were very quick to get their money, but not quick to come out and solve the problem. Then, in November, we needed to have them come out and refill. We checked every other day. The gage never changed and they never left a receipt. Which they are suppose to. Again, they were quick to take their money, but when we would call and ask when they would be coming out, the person on the phone, was not only rude, but said they had. Which, wasn't true. They finally came out the end of December and this time they left a receipt, but they charged us again! WE NEVER RECEIVED PROPANE IN NOVEMBER! When my mom went out to discuss with them today why we are being billed again, they said they filled us up in November and December! The supervisor was not helpful and their staff needs work on customer service! They basically called my mom a liar. Everyone really needs to watch out when using this company. You need to check your gage often and make sure you are home when they say they are filling your tank and make sure you get a receipt. I have never been so upset with a company! read more
